NUCLEAR Apátrida – If you’re a loyal old school Thrasher or just addicted to Thrash Metal that’s potent enough to set off the Richter Magnitude Scale, then NUCLEAR is a Thrash Metal band that you need to have your ears, brain and entire nervous system acquainted with.

NUCLEAR are from the grand Republic Of Chile and formed their Thrash Metal pack back in 2003. With 4 studio and 2 live albums to their Metal credit, NUCLEAR has the Thrashing credentials in their songwriting, musicianship, vocals and old school attitude; just a couple of listens to Apátrida and any Thrash Metal aficionado shall agree!

Originality can sometimes be difficult to achieve within the Thrash Metal genre; with so many legendary bands having already “done that”, only NUCLEAR brings a unique style to the Thrash masses and I’m very, very impressed. Not as extreme as the iconic Slayer and not as over produced as the legendary Metallica’s post Master Of Puppets catalog, NUCLEAR follows more in line with an old school Anthrax meets old school Exodus (with Megadeth in-between).

Not afraid to approach politics as a lyrical theme, NUCLEAR gets their point across with blazing sonic beats and a dual guitar attack that has my neck begging for mercy after each listen to Apátrida. Wether NUCLEAR’s vocalist Matias Leonicio sings in English or Spanish, the Metal point is made very clear: there is credible passion in his voice and Thrash Metal is a universal language all its own.

Get into NUCLEAR and allow this rising giant of a Thrash band to kick your ass. NUCLEAR has arrived my fellow Metal brethren! Metal be thy name.

I can’t wait to take the Pasadena Napalm Division machine on the road in support of our first LP on Minus Head Records.”

The band’s 13-song self-titled debut is set for a May 28 release via Minus Head Records. The album was recorded at the Music Lab in Austin and features guest vocals from Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste) and Argo (Dead Horse).

San Francisco Bay Area Thrash bands have long been known for their in-your-face approach to music, and POTENTIAL THREAT SF are no strangers to that tradition. Civilization Under Threat from Bay Area Thrash Metallers POTENTIAL THREAT SF will be released June 18th through Old School Metal Records.

Originally formed as a five-piece in 1986, they have shared the stage with everyone from Testament to Slayer to Cro-Mags to Nuclear Assault and just recently returned from touring with Death Angel. Their hard-working, no holds barred attitude carries over to their live shows. Though they put every ounce of grit and determination into their set, they still manage not to sound like angry old fucks.

Their mentality is simple – it’s just as easy for a band to get the audience involved in their show as it is to be pissed off and push them away. In short, they still have fun and show it on stage and to the fans, regardless of how long they’ve been playing or how many people are in the attendance.

Their newest offering, Civilization Under Threat (to be released by OSM Records), gives a nod to the old school by combining aggressive, commanding vocals with dual guitars and a thundering bottom end. Engineered and mastered by Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Testament, Heathen) at Trident Studios has given the album a massively heavy quality without being over-produced.

The band consists of Mike Noble on lead vocals and lead/rhythm guitars, Daniel Sheridan on lead/rhythm guitars, Kenny Noble on drums and Damien Sisson (also in Death Angel) on bass.

DARK DESIGN – Signs With Heaven & Hell Records

Technical Power/Thrash band Dark Design from Raleigh, North Carolina has recently signed with Heaven & Hell Records for the release of their debut, Prey for the Future.

Since early 2010, Dark Design, comprised of members Ray Lewis (guitar), Mike Joyner (guitar), Andrew Bertrand (vocals), and rhythm section Matt (bass) and Robbie Mercer (drums), have built a strong fan base in their local metal scene. Their technical prowess and progressive song structuring have often been compared to that of Death, Toxik, and Anacrusis. As buzz of the band began to grow they were requested to play the 2012 Warriors of Metal Festival in Ohio.

Meanwhile the band was working on their debut album. The band is currently finishing up the recording with John E Wooten (Widow U.S) and is now in final mix down. Mastering is set to be done by Jamie King at The Basement Studios. Release is set for late Summer / early Fall.

Chicago Modern Metal powerhouse TRIALS is set to make a triumphant return on May 1st with the release of their sophomore album, In the Shadow of Swords.

Coming off the heels of their 2011 debut, Witness to the Downfall, In the Shadow of Swords sees the band take their blend of forward-thinking Metal and muscular, Technical Thrash to the next level. Don’t mistake those words for the typical promotional hyperbole either. TRIALS has truly upped the ante where aggression, songwriting and sheer metallic power are concerned. Look no further than the album’s lead single, “Believers in Black,” for proof of the band’s progression. Stream the tune now:

In the Shadow of Swords is the first TRIALS recording to feature guitarist Ryan Bruchert (ex-HEWHOCORRUPTS), who joined the band last year. The album will be offered in digital and CD formats. The digital version includes a ripping cover of JUDAS PRIEST’s “Jawbreaker” as a bonus track, while the CD release will feature an additional TRIALS song, “Spirit Leaves” as a bonus. Recording took place at Wall 2 Wall Studios in Chicago and at TRIALS’ home studio with mixing and mastering courtesy of Lasse Lammert at LSD Studios in Lübeck, Germany. The album’s artwork was done by Chris Angelucci with Mark Sugar & Usha Rajbhandari.

HAVOK – Premiere New Video As They Continue Work On New Album

Denver Thrashers HAVOK have premiered their latest video for the song “From The Cradle To The Grave” from their 2012 EP, The Point Of No Return, via the band’s official Facebook page. The video, directed by Roy Warner, was filmed on location in Detroit during the band’s final tour of 2012 alongside Skeletonwitch. The premiere coincides with the band’s continued work on their anticipated Terry Date produced third full-length album.

Discussing the song’s lyrical inspiration, vocalist/guitarist Dave Sanchez says, “‘From The Cradle To The Grave’ is about America’s first serial killer, H.H. Holmes. In the late 1800s, in Chicago, Holmes built a hotel specifically with murder in mind. It included doors that opened up to brick walls, staircases that lead to nowhere, and one-way rooms that once you entered, you never came out. He was a religious man and firmly believed that since he was born, the Devil was at his side. That being said, bang your head.”

HAVOK will hit the road next week, teaming with Goatwhore and The Casualties. The dates will feature new bassist Michael Joseph Leon. Sanchez notes, “as many people have already heard, we recently parted ways with bassist Jesse De Los Santos. It was a mutual split and we wish Jesse all the best. I’d like to thank Jesse for the four years of killing it in studio and on stage. With that being said, we’d like to introduce our new four-string monster, Mike Leon. Mike is a fantastic bassist and a veteran of the road from his years of touring with The Absence. We are very happy to have him on board.”

Leon comments: “I’m completely honored to be a part of such a well-oiled machine and to have the opportunity to play with these dudes is a dream come true! Not only is HAVOK one of my favorite new heavy metal bands out in the scene, but the guys in the band are a few of the best dudes I know! You can definitely look forward to us kickin’ lots of ass together this year, and for many years to come.”

Initially featured on the band’s 2011 Conjure and Command full-length, Agony Of The Damned makes an “updated” appearance on the From The Ashes Of Nuclear Destruction compilation, set for release via Relapse Records next month.

Elaborates band mastermind Joel Grind: “This version of ‘Agony of the Damned’ was recorded in September of 2010 with a drum machine a few months before we stepped into the studio to record the one that appears on Conjure and Command. When making an album, I usually demo out the entire thing before I step into a studio. This keeps costs low and gives me time to sit with it to iron out the details. Since Conjure and Command was the first TOXIC record to feature a full band, this demo served the purpose of familiarizing everyone with the new material and is previously unreleased.”

INTRACTABLE – “Inner Decay” Death/Thrash Metal Debut Full-Length Album Is Out Now!

INTRACTABLE stands for a diverse & massive detonating mixture of modern Death and Thrash Metal!! Tremendous riffs, compelling melodies and creative drumming are combined into unrivaled songs. Drummer and lead singer Beni contributes with his particular voice to the characteristically sound of INTRACTABLE. The debut album Inner Decay was finished in the Fall of 2012 and released on December 22nd, 2012. The album title and the cover artwork reflect the issues addressed in the band’s lyrics.

NOISEM (Formerly Necropsy) Signs With A389 Recordings

Baltimore-based A389 Recordings is prepared to proudly unleash the debut LP from one of the most promising new names in today’s Thrash Metal community, having signed young hometown act NOISEM. A389 had announced the signing of the band earlier this month, only then they were still under their previous moniker, Necropsy. With their debut album about to hit the band felt it was time for a change and now charge out of the gate as NOISEM.

NOISEM is young, both as a unit and in actual age, the four members all between fifteen and twenty years old, their energetic youth showing through in the blistering fast nonstop assault that encompasses the listener with their debut LP, Agony Defined. Boasting high-octane death/thrash tracks in the tradition of early Slayer, Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Kreator and Nuclear Assault with a filthy and crispy delivery, Agony Defined unloads nine neck-mangling tracks in under twenty-six minutes, every attack surging with massive divebomb guitar solos and punishing beats.

A389 will release Agony Defined on CD, LP and digital download on June 11th; fans of Audiopain, Havok, Toxic Holocaust and the originators/masters of the style will not be disappointed, and all non believers will be extinguished.

Be slaughtered by the opening track “Voices In The Morgue” RIGHT HERE.

Coinciding with the album’s release, NOISEM has been confirmed to annihilate the masses of extreme music fans invading their turf for Maryland Deathfest 2013, set to storm the stage opening night, Thursday, May 23rd alongside Abigail, Bolt Thrower, Cobalt and more. The band has also been confirmed to take part in the upcoming installment of the Scion Rock Fest in Memphis, Tennessee on June 1st with the Melvins, Vision of Disorder, Municipal Waste, The Casualties, Impaled, A Life Once Lost and a ton of others with many still to be announced.

Anselmo (DOWN, ex-PANTERA) and engineered by Stephen “The Big Fella” Berrigan, will hit stores and digital retailers on April 2nd via Housecore Records.

Destroy was recorded at Nodferatu’s Lair in May and July 2012 and mixed by Anselmo and Berrigan. The album artwork and concept were designed by “Carcass” John Fossum with graphic and technical assistance by John Deleon.

San Francisco – Pasadena Napalm Division, the Houston-based Thrash Metal outfit that features D.R.I. singer Kurt Brecht and members of Dead Horse, will release their self-titled debut on April 9th via Minus Head Records.

“Fans of D.R.I. and Deadhorse will rejoice. PND is what Thrash Metal should sound like in 2013,” said Brecht. “Working together with some of the members of Texas-based cult band, Deadhorse, we have come up with some hard-hitting tunes that span genres and will withstand the test of time. I can’t wait to take the Pasadena Napalm Division machine on the road in support of our first LP on Minus Head Records.”

Pasadena Napalm Division is Kurt Brecht (vocals), Greg Martin (guitar), Scott Sevall (guitar/vocals), Ronnie Guyote (drums) and Bubba (bass/vocals).

The 13-song self-titled release was recorded at the Music Lab in Austin and features guest vocals from Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste) and Argo (Dead Horse).
