DOOM MASTERS’ RELEASE LANDS AT#2 ON HARD ROCK CHART

_______________________________

NEW YORK, Oct. 8, 2014 – Electric Wizard, the UK-based Doom outfit led by the provocative Jus Oborn, have the outfit’s highest chart debut to date, with their Spinefarm Records’ debut, Time to Die, entering Billboard’s Top 200 at 62.

The nine-song release, featuring singles “I am Nothing” and “SadioWitch,” is also one of the band’s most critically acclaimed to date with Mojo Magazine declaring the album “the most uncompromising album of the year” and Pitchfork saying the album “deserves every accolade thrown its way” and going on to say “they’ve surpassed expectations and proved that they’re still as vital as they ever were.”

Produced by Oborn, the album was recorded at Toe Rag Studios in East London, with analog gear used exclusively throughout, with finishing touches done at Skyhammer Studio in “deepest, darkest” Cheshire by Chris Fielding.

About Spinefarm Records

ELECTRIC WIZARD SIGNING

Electric Wizard visit Fopp to celebrate the release of their new album, ‘Time to Die’.

When & Where?

Thursday, 23rd October – 5:30pm – Fopp Manchester, UK

What?

Doom Metal legends Electric Wizard visit Fopp to sign copies of their eighth studio album ‘Time to Die’. Limited edition ‘SadioWitch’ 7-inch singles will be available in store.

Electric Wizard release the eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2010’s ‘Black Masses’. ‘Time to Die’ saw the temporary return of original drummer Mark Greening, along with the addition of new bassist, Clayton Burgess. Latest single ‘SadioWitch’ is accompanied by the band’s first music video, created by the mysterious and alluring Shazzula Vultura.

The short film’s content is concisely summarised by frontman Jus Oborn, who describes it as ‘clandestinely filmed scenes of Luciferian depravity.’ The Guardian refer to the album’s tracks as ‘the mutant children of Black Sabbath’s revered blueprint’, while Pitchfork suggest that the track ‘Funeral of Your Mind’ is ‘the garage-rock-tinged psychedelic rocker… that Birmingham’s finest could’ve written if they had stuck with the drugs and off the telly’.

Electric Wizard - promo band pic - 2014 - #049930

Formed in Wimborne, Dorset, the band bonded over a mutual fascination with Black Sabbath, the occult, horror movies, vintage recording equipment and the 1970s. For over 20 years, Electric Wizard have recorded a series of landmark Metal albums, which amalgamate elements of Sludge, Stoner Metal, Black Metal and Doom. The band have recently performed a series of festival dates across Europe, including ‘Sonisphere’ UK, Portugal’s ‘Reverence Festival Valada’, ‘Hellfest’ in France and ‘Roskilde’ in Denmark.

The Electric Wizard creative core of Jus Oborn & Liz Buckingham will visit Fopp ahead of their gig at The Ritz, Manchester.

Guitarist Mike Decker comments:

We would like to first thank everyone who have bought, listened, and become one with the broken on our first release “The Healing Powers of Hate.” Now for what comes next, we had to make some lineup changes but sometimes change is for the better”.

The addition of Steve Burns and Jeff Boisvert on vocals has given BornBroken a new dimension as we move forward. We are truly happy with choosing The Grid and producer Chris Donaldson for our next CD, as you will hear, we are pushing new boundaries with our sound and approach and Chris has the knowledge to help with that.

The future of BornBroken is far from over as we are in the middle of writing and recording 2.0. As we keep some things for now shrouded in shadows we are proud to give you a front row seat to ‘Watch The World Unwind’.

Hear the cry once more….

‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ is now streaming at the following link: http://soundcloud.com/bornbrokenmusic/sets/thehealingpowersofhate

BornBroken‘s debut album ‘The Healing Powers of Hate’ was released in June 2013. The album was fan voted as Album of The Week (June 10th) on Revolver Magazine, along with debuting #8 on Canadian College Loud Charts, plus being named one of the best unsigned Heavy Metal Bands for June 2013 by Drago’s Dungeon on About.com – Heavy Metal.

They have also received great admiration from Yell Magazine! quoting ‘This is a debut metal album of epic proportions. If it’s not the Canadian metal album of the year, it’s certainly in the running for Canadian debut metal album.’ and TheFrontRowReport.com quoting ‘BornBroken may be the best metal band you probably haven’t heard of. Those who love hard, heavy, angry metal are in for a treat and may find a new favorite in BornBroken.’.

About BornBroken:

BornBroken was formed with one simple mission in mind: Help the masses find a voice, a face, an “X” that marks the spot through the sounds of beating skins, metal strings and broken chords.

After months of writing and hours spent in the studio, BornBroken managed to take every emotion they felt, put it to music, build off of past battle scars and create a record where listeners will feel they are part of the storyline.

On their debut album, The Healing Powers of HateBornBroken play out not only what life has given them but also what they want to give back: truth, integrity, perseverance, loyalty and faith in humanity’s struggle for equality.

The Misfits special project showcasing punk covers of 1950’s era rock ‘n’ roll classics assembles an all-star line-up to bring this creature to life! Misfits founding member Jerry Only frontlines the spiked jukebox on Bass and lead vocals for every track—along with Black Flag alum Dez Cadena utilizing an arsenal of guitars to achieve a dynamic that best suits each song, and much more…

60’s pop-rock icon Ronnie Spector (known for timeless classics like “Be My Baby” and “Baby I love You”) makes a special guest appearance lending her inimitable vocals to “This Magic Moment” and “You Belong to Me”. The expertise of Jimmy Destri (Blondie) shines on keyboards for re-workings of “Runaway” & “Great Balls of Fire”. Also featured is longtime Misfits & Ramones collaborator John Cafiero (Osaka Popstar) contributing melodic punk-pop backing vocals to “Dream Lover”, “Monster Mash” and “Runaway”. Ed Manion (of Bruce Springsteen’s E Street band) who has performed with a wide variety of artists—including 50’s icon Dion, provides saxophone for “Diana” and “Runaway”. Scanner - promo band pic - 2014 - #887S

From Massacre Records:

SCANNER sure aren’t strangers in the Metal scene, since they’ve been around since the mid-80’s!

SCANNER had a few bumps in the road of their journey so far, but that didn’t stop them from doing their thing! SCANNER always existed, even when there were false rumors circulating regarding the band’s status.

The band can look back on an impressive live history, including numerous live gigs worldwide, European tours and appearances at festivals, such as Germany’s Wacken Open Air.

From 1988 ’til 2002, SCANNER released 5 albums so far and now – almost 13 years after the release of their latest album “Scantropolis” – the band is back with a new record!

Scanner - The Judgement - promo album cover pic - 2014

The band’s brand new album is entitled “The Judgement”! The cover artwork’s been created by Anestis Goudas.

The idea behind the album is that the Scanner has returned to earth to see what religion has done to mankind. He also asks himself how a society would evolve if there wouldn’t be any religion at all. Would it be possible to live in peace?

The new album promises to feature true and uncompromising Power Speed Metal! There will be catchy songs like the album’s title track, but also songs that will have you chanting and singing along and even high-speed Metal tracks.

SCANNER’s new album “The Judgement” is planned to be released in late January 2015 via Massacre Records!

KHAØS – Reveal Debut Album Details For ‘Risen’

Swiss/US rockers Khaøs have today revealed more information regarding the release of their much-anticipated debut album ‘Risen’. Recorded by Rolf Munkes at his Empire Studios in Germany and mastered by music legend and award winner for Adele’s ‘21’ Tom Coyne at Sterling Sound in New York; ‘Risen’ follows the bands revered 2012 ‘Rising’ EP and will be released on October 20th via Plastichead Distribution/MRR Records.

‘Risen’ – Track Listing:

01) After The Silence

02) Crisis Factor

03) Exalted

04) Loaded Question

05) End Of Daze

06) Merchants Of Khaøs

07) Ride The Chain

08) Hung The Moon

09) Imagined Danger

10) Static Windows

11) As Far As We Go

12) The Breathing Room

Check Out The Album Trailer Below:

Guitarist Mark Rossi comments: “The subject matter transcends individual boundaries, hearkening to darker scenarios yet striving for resolution. The lyrical approach follows a trend of maintaining hope while facing difficulty and conflict. All the evil of mankind cannot suppress the people if they won’t let it. Aside from the lyrics and tone, the project’s unifying element is one of hard rock expression, which defies definition with every song.”

Frontman Chandler Mogel (also of Outloud & Chrome Public) adds: “Musically and lyrically ‘Risen’ is a continuation from ‘Rising’, which was just a taste but began to touch on some of the deeper subject matter that I wanted to develop further into my writing; I had also been writing some Outloud songs with deeper meanings but for me it wasn’t really working in that setting. I knew I needed a different approach musically for it, and Khaøs seemed like the right fit so I channeled this focus there. I wanted an outlet to really convey problems with society, personal struggles, mental mechanisms, and the reasons for all of this. As always I leave the lyrics open to interpretation from the listener as each person will take something different from them, but these are general themes that are prevalent here.”

Mark who designed the artwork himself discusses the cover art: “As a first full-length album, ‘Risen’ is a sort of baptism of fire for this band. The visual concept of the artwork tries to accentuate this primordial aspect, in a manner of speaking the birth of Khaøs and its origin. We used symbols like a faded version of Leonardo’s Vitruvian Man for the background, a theme I was dealing with before starting this project. This picture reflects somehow many of the topics treated in our songs. It is static in structure but dynamic in its presentation of a moving, living man. A bit like our music”

“I had different ideas for the album cover first. I started with an orb but decided it was maybe too simple and too generic for this type of album. Finally I used that idea for the design of my guitar pic. Then I switched to the griffin theme. Chandler liked my very first sketch and we ended up using that exact picture for the album cover.”

‘Risen’ will be released via Plastichead Distribution/MRR Records on October 20th.

Kingdom of Worms will be released October 24 through FDA Rekotz. The vinyl LP version will be released on November 21.

Thuringia´s DESERTED FEAR are one of the best Death Metal bands to come out of Germany in years. Germany´s Rock Hard magazine referred to the album as “simply amazing.”

Mixing and Mastering duties have been handled by the legendary Dan Swanö (Edge Of Sanity, Bloodbath, etc.), who put the finishing touches on Kingdom of Worms in his very own Unisound Studio. Medicine Man marks the bands 3rd release with label president Bill Chavis. Both Snake Eyes Seven (2007) and 13 Crows (2010) were released with Bill. “I am very happy to have Cole and company back on-board. Cole and I developed a great friendship from day one. He is a great person and loyal friend to the end, not to mention a prolific riff master and writer. We have worked together for so long it just seems logical for me to be involved with the next Snake Eyes Seven chapter. Cole called and said will you do this, I said when do we start? I discovered Cole and his band years ago but actually turned him down the first few times. It was only after Cole’s non-stop perseverance that I caved in. The first release was OK but 13 Crows was outstanding. I don’t think it caught on but it was a great release. Medicine Man proves to be the best Snake Eyes Seven release yet and judging by the demo material, it will be a game changer.

Snake Eyes Seven now features Cole ‘The Madman’ Stevens – guitar, Cam McLeod – guitar, Danny Deane – vocals, Mike Cillis – bass, and Erik Young – drums.

Snake Eyes Seven recently launched their Facebook page with a new website to follow in the coming days. More details on Medicine Man including soundbytes and other information will be revealed soon.
