DEATH TO ALL – 2013 North American Tour Dates Announced

The esteemed DEATH TO ALL Tour, celebrating the life and music of DEATH mastermind Chuck Schuldiner, will be returning in 2013 for an even larger run of dates. After a successful 2012 run, the tour, now referred to as DTA1, will feature the original lineup of DEATH from Human — guitarist Paul Masvidal, bassist Steve Di Giorgio, and drummer Sean Reinert, with special guest vocalist/guitarist Max Phelps of Cynic/Exist. The band will be playing a selection of songs from the first four DEATH albums including the cream of the Human album.

Once again, the spirit of the tour is to spread the word and raise money for the charity Sweet Relief, while keeping the music and legacy of Chuck Schuldiner alive. A second version of the tour, dubbed DTA2, is planned for North America later this year, and will focus on the final three DEATH albums, plus a one-off European date at Neurotic Deathfest May 3 that will cover the entire DEATH catalog. A complete listing of dates is included below while a limited number of VIP tickets are available HERE.

Additionally, 2013 will continue to see the deluxe reissues of DEATH’s catalog by Relapse Records. Over the last couple of years, the label has painstakingly reissued and remastered the later albums from the DEATH catalog including The Sound of Perseverance, Individual Thought Patterns, Human, Spiritual Healing and other Chuck Schuldiner related releases. These DEATH titles are currently available for streaming at this LOCATION. Details on the 2013 reissues will be announced shortly.

AZURE EMOTE – New Track From All-Star Avant/Death Opus Arises

AZURE EMOTE, the avant-garde Death Metal entity envisioned and created by Mike Hrubovcak (Monstrosity, Vile, Divine Rapture, Abraxas), will release its second full-length work, The Gravity Of Impermanence, worldwide on April 3rd via Selfmadegod Records.

Under Hrubovcak’s direction, songwriting and full-on participation in its creation, The Gravity Of Impermanence was executed utilizing musicians from Death, Fear Factory, Yakuza, Monstrosity, Tristania, Rumpelstiltskin Grinder and more. With over an hour of material displayed through fourteen tracks, the album is fueled by pummeling blast beats, electronic programming, a mixture of both guttural and haunting vocal styles, violins, saxophone, harmonica and a barrage of other instruments coalescing in a melting pot of misanthropic darkness that defines the AZURE EMOTE ethos, recorded, mixed and mastered by Ron Vento of Aurora Borealis at Nightsky Studios.

The cover art was once again done by AZURE EMOTE’s creator and frontman Mike Hrubovcak, his Visual Darkness works well-known in the death/grind communities for illustrating covers for Sinister, Grave, Cattle Decapitation, Hate Eternal, Mortician, and many others.

PESTILENCE – Signs To Candlelight Records

Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of PESTILENCE. The celebrated eastern Netherlands-based band is currently preparing to enter the studio to begin work on their seventh studio album, titled Obsideo. The album is expected to be produced by vocalist/guitarist Patrick Mameli and set to feature ten new songs. No release date is set as of press time.

The band comments, “PESTILENCE is very excited to announce that they have signed a recording deal with Candlelight Records. We feel that our new material is very special and innovative and that it needs the back up of a solid company like Candlelight to get it out there to the Metal world.”

Obsideo will feature band mastermind Mameli and long-time partner guitarist Patrick Uterwijk with new German bassist George Maier and Australian drummer Dave Haley. Mameli notes, “PESTILENCE is chuffed to have Dave Haley in the lineup. Dave is one of the five best extreme drummers in the world, and his talent brings PESTILENCE to new levels that couldn’t be reached otherwise. Georg Maier is a young and talented bass player that will turn some heads. Both guys are really down to earth and real easy-going. Of course, Patrick Uterwijk is my most respectable and long-going friend and musician.”

Formed in 1986, PESTILENCE took influence from early American and German Thrash Metal to cultivate it’s now signature Death Metal sound. Four albums would see release and continued worldwide growth for the band before members decided to go separate ways in 1994. Fourteen years later, the band would reform and in 2009 released Resurrection Macabre (Mascot). On review, noted website Chronicles Of Chaos said, “Mameli and company chose to steer this effort down paths previously unexplored whilst maintaining their unmistakably vintage essence.” Blabbermouth added, “distinctive and unique… a diverse and satisfying metal experience.”

In recent years, PESTILENCE has also returned to the live stage; their first North American tour in over 16 years commenced at the annual Maryland Death Fest May 30, 2010. Commenting to Noisecreep after announcement of the 18-city tour, Mameli said, “we will put our heart and soul into these upcoming shows and hope to make lots of fans happy with both old and new material.” PESTILENCE was a featured performer on the second annual 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise that left Miami on January 23, 2012. The band performed two sets on the popular Caribbean cruise that also featured Cannibal Corpse, Crowbar, My Dying Bride, Samael, Overkill, and Venom among others.

Founded in early 2006, LIFELESS set out to create pure, traditional Death Metal and have done exactly that since day one. No fucking compromises!!!

In 2007, the band self-financed their debut, Beyond The Threshold Of Death. The mastering was done by Vesa Kenttäkumpu (EVOCATION).

Two years later, LIFELESS signed with US-based Ibex Moon Records, the label founded by INCANTATION mastermind John McEntee, who re-released Beyond The Threshold Of Death in June of 2010. The re-released featured new artwork and a cover version of DISMEMBER´s classic “Casket Garden” as a bonus track.

In 2011 LIFELESS parted ways with Ibex Moon Records to get more reputation on the European market, and soon signed a new deal with German based FDA-REKOTZ (Entrails, Revel In Flesh, Revolting, Goregast etc.). The band’s FDA debut came in the form of the 7″ split EP, Chapel Of A Lifeless Cult, with labelmates Chapel Of Disease.

In March of 2013, LIFELESS will release their long-awaited sophomore full-length, Godconstruct. Be prepared for ten tracks of old-school Death fucking Metal!

After a bloody successful maiden voyage in 2012, Decibel Magazine is doubling down on veteran star power for their second annual national tour. This spring, the plague spreads as Decibel brings you three living legends of Death Metal and Grindcore: the preeminent gore institution Cannibal Corpse; rabble-rousing U.K. grind icons Napalm Death, and NYDM stalwarts Immolation.

While occultism permeated last spring’s inaugural dB tour—featuring exclusively European headliners in Behemoth, Watain, the Devil’s Blood and In Solitude—they looked (mostly) to North America for this year’s unholy assemblage. Three of Decibel’s favorite underground powerhouses will take on this year’s rotating opening slot: demented Bay Area death-grinders Cretin, Canadian tech-prog upstarts Beyond Creation and Beltway grind/powerviolence crushers Magrudergrind. And the time is ripe to see the new bleed into the old: three of the six artists performing are expected to have new records detonating during the tour.

Cannibal Corpse will be releasing a box set to commemorate their 25th anniversary: Dead Human Collection: 25 Years of Death Metal. The box contains: all 12 full length studio albums in a 12 CD foldout case with new artwork, “Torturing and Eviscerating LIVE” on CD and LP Picture Disc recorded in Tampa, FL 2010 / Milwaukee, WI 2012, PLUS: NEW EXCLUSIVE images by VINCE LOCKE, 12″ X 12″ graphic prints of all 13 original album covers, and a 2013 Cannibal Corpse Calendar. COFFINS – Japan’s Doom Eradicators Initiate Recording Of New LP For Relapse Records

Having raided the Death/Doom underworld since 1996, Tokyo, Japan’s brutal Doom Metal eradicators COFFINS have once again entered their local Noise Room Studio, and are currently laying down vocals for their anticipated new LP, The Fleshland.

Although COFFINS seemingly always have a new release out, with a plethora of splits, EP’s, singles and a recent track released as part of Decibel Magazine’s Flexi Series having been released in the past few years alone, the band’s upcoming fourth album The Fleshland will be the first new full-length from the outfit since their devastating and acclaimed Buried Death album, released via 20 Buck Spin in 2008. Their first official release for Relapse Records, COFFINS will wrap-up their cavernous studio work on The Fleshland by the end of January. The album is set for release later this year.

For now, ravenous fans of COFFINS’ brutal arts can get a bit of insight into the new album’s cacophony with a pre-production demo track of Colossal Hole, which will reappear on The Fleshland in its finished state, via Cvlt Nation RIGHT HERE.

METAL NEWS: HYBRID – Deepsend Records Signs Spanish Experimentalists HYBRID

Spanish Experimental Metallers HYBRID have signed with Deepsend Records to release their sophomore album Angst on April 30th in North America. The album was produced by founding member and drummer Chus Maestro, mixed at Sadman Studios (Wormed) and mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan) which feature their heavy and organic trademarked sound far from the non-credible modern super productions.

The follow-up to their acclaimed 2008 debut The 8th Plague, is a conceptual behemoth of Extreme Metal that drives the listener through a progressive and intricate songwriting enriched with arrangements and dynamics able to keep the audience aware all the time since the first listening.

Not unlike the game changer Planisphaerium by countrymen Wormed in 2003, HYBRID’s Angst could very well be the country’s next great output. A true hybrid of genres canvasing all aspects of extreme music into one-cohesive yet complex vortex of sound. HYBRID BIO:

HYBRID was born in 2004 with the intention of setting up an unorthodox extreme music project without self-imposed limits. The band recorded Beyond Undeniable Entropy in 2005 as a presentation, a six song debut MCD of avant-garde, eclectic and technical metal, released the next year by Deadwrong Records, which got a great response within the underground scene.

In the beginning of 2007 HYBRID entered Sadman Studio to record their first full length album The 8th Plague, mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) and with artwork by Seldon Hunt (NEUROSIS, ISIS), which was released by London-based label Eyesofsound (BOSSK, YAKUZA) in August 2008.

The 8th Plague received an outstanding reception worldwide, as it was selected one of the best albums of the year in several specialized media.

After playing live with bands like TOOL, DEFTONES, NAPALM DEATH, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, MISERY INDEX, TEXTURES, MOHO, MACHETAZO and LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER between others, HYBRID went back to the studio in 2011 and recorded their sophomore album Angst, settling their unique approach to the genre while taking their sound one step further in terms of creative freedom.

In celebration of the impending release of their Rise From Treason EP, Decibel Magazine offers up THE RESISTANCE’s “Face To Face.” Featuring within its ranks some of Sweden’s most esteemed musicians, THE RESISTANCE includes In Flames’ founder Jesper Strömblad on guitar alongside second guitarist Glenn Ljungström (ex-In Flames), vocalist Marco Aro (ex-The Haunted, Facedown) and drummer Chris Barkensjö (ex-Kaamos, ex-Repugnant).

Far from a “supergroup” or “side project,” THE RESISTANCE is a veritable gang embracing the musical attitude and sounds of old-school Swedish death metal and the traditional “no compromise” values of hardcore. Sea Of Tranquility calls Rise From Treason “consistently hard, driving, aggressive, fast, and angry,“ while No Clean Singing adds: “crusty, d-beat influenced, old-school death metal with hardcore vocals and extremely headbangable rhythms. I like.”

Rise From Treason will see North American release on January 29, 2013 via Armoury Records with a full-length to follow later this year.

Titled Blast Beast, the tune was recorded at the infamous Bloody Mountain Bunker and is currently streaming for all your unholy enjoyment courtesy of Decibel Magazine, who notes: “The guitars swirl like a wicked blizzard at night, the drums blaaast! an unheard of brutality, and the vocals sound like they come from the blackest depths of the Mammoth Mountain. And then there’s that ominous horn-like sound permeating the soundscape. The end of the world or the beginning of an evil era, VALDUR certainly understand Black Metal’s key dynamics without making them sound tired.”

Pulverised Records has announced the official signing of Swedish Grind-guerrillas EXHALE!

With the group formed in 2004, EXHALE have already proven themselves to be a devastating force since their inception, bombarding the Grindcore community with two full-length albums Prototype in 2006 and Blind in 2010. Two years later into the band’s last effort, EXHALE sharpened their Grind-weapons and returns even more powerful than before!

With a brand new full-length entitled When Worlds Collide, this album sees EXHALE taking on a much more dynamic approach while still maintaining an extremely strict diet of sick and demented modern Grind-sanity.

When Worlds Collide will be scheduled for a 2013 release, with more announcements and further album details to be unleashed soon.
