CORPUS MORTALE – Signs With Deepsend Records

Danish Death Metallers CORPUS MORTALE have signed to Deepsend Records. Deepsend will release the Danes’ third album “FleshCraft” this fall, with a special web-only Pre-Order which will ship prior to the release date in stores.

“FleshCraft” is the follow-up to Corpus Mortale’s 2007 sophomore album, “A New Species of Deviant” and first for Deepsend Records.

INCANTATION – Records Exclusive Track For Decibel Magazine

Death Metal pioneers INCANTATION have recorded an exclusive track for Decibel Magazine’s Flexi Disc series, which is available only to subscribers.

For their contribution to Decibel, INCANTATION founder John McEntee dug into his vault and pulled up the tune Degeneration, off the self-titled 1989 demo from his pre-INCAN tech-thrash band, REVENANT. INCANTATION gave the song a proper reworking and the deathed-up, newly-recorded version of the song will appear inside the December 2012 issue of Decibel.

Non-subscribers have until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, October 10th to visit http://store.decibelmagazine.com/collections/subscriptions-renewals/products/subscribe to sign up in time to receive the disc.

INCANTATION are set to release the follow-up to 2006’s Primordial Decimation, a concept album entitled Vanquish in Vengeance, this November on Listenable Records.

LAGRIMA ‘Hannibal AD Portas’ – Lebanese Metal Band Self-Releases Their Debut Album And It’s: Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

LAGRIMA – Beirut Lebanon is home to a Metal band that I want my fellow Metal brethren to know about. This Metal band is called LAGRIMA and they blend everything from classic guitar to (melodic) Black and Death Metal;  with Heavy Metal and Power Metal influences in-between. Overall, I would classify LAGRIMA as an Extreme Metal band that also respects the art of capturing melody, while they are very astute at conveying their Metal craft effectively. The mood and atmosphere of this album projects an open-mindedness to music that LAGRIMA saturates with their Metal.

Their debut studio album, Hannibal AD Portas has just been self released and it’s free! (See their Reverbnation link below). LAGRIMA is: Tarek Yazbek (Guitars, Bass, Drum Machines, Synth) and Bilal Alaghar on vocals. Originally formed back in 2003 with a different lineup, Tarek Yazbek is now the lone founding member.

The album opener, Prelude (… To the Gods of War), is an intro of orchestration; an intro that gave me every indication that LAGRIMA has set no boundaries to their interpretation of a Metal album and I applaud them for that. There are many moments where LAGRIMA will shift gears and subdue their Metal extremity, with melodic guitar passages and intros that musically illuminate their Middle East roots (Death of the Father… Saguntum and Trepia Trazimian Cannie are fine examples of this).

Tarek Yazbek is quite the talented multi-instrumentalist! His guitar skills cover an extensive range, from acoustical and melodically mellow to all-out blazing fret work and riffs that should make every Metal maniac out there raise the horns to the sky. Bilal Alaghar has Black Metal written all over his vocals and he has more than impressed my eardrums and Extreme Metal saturated brain! This Metal duo from Lebanon have downright succeeded at recording their debut album and they both should be Metal proud.

In the event LAGRIMA were to be discovered and signed by a Metal record label tomorrow, it would not surprise me at all; of course the Metal door should be open for some production tweaking. LAGRIMA has recorded a product of Metal that stands on its own merit of being very memorable to me. This band is not just another carbon-copied multi-Metal genre act that wants to play extreme. There’s some diversity in LAGRIMA’s Metal that needs to be heard.

AEON – Swedish Death Metal Squadron Unveil “Aeons Black” Lyric Video

Today, Swedish Death Metal squadron, AEON, are pleased to unveil the “Aeons Black” lyric video on their official landing page. The tune comes off the band’s forthcoming new studio offering of the same name. Set to drop via Metal Blade Records on November 20, 2012, the mammoth 15-track Aeons Black was recorded at Empire Studio in Östersund, Sweden, engineered, mixed and mastered by Ronnie Björnström (Garageland Studios) and features cover art by Kristian “Necrolord” Wåhlin (Bathory, At The Gates, Dissection, Emperor et al).

Notes founding guitarist Zeb Nilsson of the album: “This is definitely our most varied album to date; it has heavier songs yet it also has lots of fast blastbeats and double bass drumming. It’s groovier this time, which I think we lacked on our last album, Path of Fire, which was fast paced almost all the way through. And no, we have notgone softer in any aspect; it’s just easier to catch with all this grooviness. It’s Metal right up your ass!”

REVOCATION – Teratogenesis EP Releases Today Via SCION A/V + It’s FREE! REVOCATION North American Fall Tour Announced!

Massachusetts metallers REVOCATION have announced a North American tour for this fall presented by Scion A/V.  The tour will begin October 18th in Trenton, NJ and run through November 14th in Montreal, QC.  Support on the tour will come from A Life Once Lost and KEN mode. A complete list of dates can be found below.

In conjunction with the tour, Scion A/V is releasing a new EP from REVOCATION today (September 25th). The EP is titled Teratogenesis and features the first recordings with the band’s new bass player Brett Bamberger.

Frontman Dave Davidson commented on the band’s new bassist:

“Hey what’s up guys, just wanted to give everyone an update on what’s been happening in the world of Revo. As some of you have already noticed Anthony has parted ways with the band. The split was amicable and we wish him the best of luck in his future endeavors. We have recently enlisted the services of Brett Bamberger and we are incredibly stoked to have him on board as an official member. Come see us live and buy him a beer.”

LAVATORY – Joins The Pulverised Records Roster

Pulverised Records are pleased to announce the latest addition to their roster of brutality: Malaysian Death Metal deviants, LAVATORY. Spawned in 2012,  a five-song EP entitled Transgression was issued earlier this Summer and showcases their unwavering penchant for raw, Swede-ian Death Metal as originally conjured by the likes of Entombed, Carcass and Dismember. Drum Magazine Catches Up With Jon Rice; Band To Play Russia, Ukraine And Belarus

Additionally, Drum Magazine recently caught up with Rice to talk about his natural sounding approach to the critically lauded record noting, “If you detect more of a feel-oriented style on JOB FOR A COWBOY’s Demonocracy, credit Jon ‘The Charn’ Rice for that extra bit of human touch. Eschewing sound replacement, scientific Pro Tools quantizing, and the usual by-the-numbers approach favored by most death metal bands (and their power-hungry producers), Charn and JFAC did it old school; well, almost. While the band certainly used computers to keep the perfect beast drummer in perfect time, they didn’t follow the typical click track route. Similarly, Charn opted for natural drum tones and sounds. RETALIATORY MEASURES – Sign With Massacre Records; New Song ‘Pharynx’ Streaming Online!

RETALIATORY MEASURES from Finland was founded in early 2009 by Kalle Hahtamo (Guitar), Pessi Haltsonen (Vocals) and Janne Halima (Guitar). Soon Iiro Aittokoski (Drums) and Teemu Heurlin (Bass) joined the band. Teemu left the band about a year later and was repleaced by Marko Mäkipanula.

They released their first demo in late 2009, which gained good feedback from the music media in Finland. A second promo CD entitled “MMX” followed a year later.

RETALIATORY MEASURES have been hitting the stages since the beginning of the band and played with bands such as Omnium Gatherum, Insomniumm, Rotten Sound or Napoleon Skullfukk.

Being asked about the lyrical themes of their songs, Iiro said in an interview with The Core Of Brutality: “(Our songs deal with) death, accepting death, tattoo artists and Mel Gibson.”

INCANTATION – Comments On Recent Tour; Reveals New Album Title

After a successful trek through Brazil with IMMOLATION and European summer festival campaign, Death Metal pioneers INCANTATION are back in the U.S. to wrap up work on their long-awaited eighth album. The band had this to say about the tour:

Guitarist/vocalist John McEntee: “I would like to thank everyone on behalf of INCANTATION for making this festival run our most successful to date. To get the opportunity to play for so many diehard death metal fans was absolutely amazing. We are especially thankful to all our supporters for giving us a warm welcome at all the festivals, you guys were amazing and totally raging every day. Most of all we would like to thank Sam Inzerra [Mortician / Funerus] for doing a phenomenal job filling in for Kyle  on drums. Without you this run would probably not be able to happen.”

McEntee comments: “The title track is about the massacre of Saxons in the town of Verdun in 782, called on by order of King Charlemagne. As an album title it has a different meaning to me. Vanquish in Vengeance symbolizes the long history of the band. We have fought many battles over the years to keep things going. We have always stayed true to our original vision and have never caved into trends. After a long wait between albums we are back with a vengeance with some of our darkest and heaviest material to date.”

MALIGNANCY – New York Death Metal Legends To Release New Full-Length Via Willowtip This Fall

Yonkers, New York-based Technical Death/Grind legends MALIGNANCY are pleased to unleash their latest slab of sonic bestiality in the form of Eugenics. Set to be unearthed in North America on October 9, 2012 through Willowtip Records, Eugenics was recorded throughout 2010 – 2011 by Eliot Gellar at the Gellar Cellar Studio in Mahopac, New York, mixed and mastered by Luca Minieri at Dissonant Studio in Aosta, Italy and features the cover art of Justin Osbourn of Slasher Designs.

Loosely based around the concept of eugenics — defined as “the study of or belief in the possibility of improving the qualities of the human species or a human population, especially by such means as discouraging reproduction by persons having genetic defects or presumed to have inheritable undesirable traits (negative eugenics) or encouraging reproduction by persons presumed to have inheritable desirable traits (positive eugenics)” — the band’s third full-length hurls forth 10 mercilessly brutal hymns of technically proficient audio carnage.

Elaborates the band in a collective statement: “Eugenics is a culmination of MALIGNANCYpast and present with a hint of what’s to come in the future. Recording the new tunes with a click track was a totally new experience.”

A BAND OF ORCS – To Play Summer Slaughter Festival Date In Anaheim!

After tasting blood at the local date of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival earlier this season, underground Metal monsters A BAND OF ORCS have succeeded in storming the gates of the last date of the Summer Slaughter Tour on August 25th at the Grove of Anaheim.  Also playing are Cannibal Corpse, Between The Buried And Me, The Faceless, Periphery, Veil Of Maya, Job For A Cowboy, Goatwhore, Exhumed, and Cerebral Bore.  This represents a step forward for the orcs in their attempt to bring about the Domination, the orc-style ear-drum apocalypse of your frail human realm.

Southern California Metalheads who plan on attending the show should plan on showing up early to catch A BAND OF ORCS (1:30pm PST) as they claw their way to the top of the metal heap and add more heads to the pile.

Following up on 2007’s WarChiefs of the Apocalypse EP, A BAND OF ORCS have their first full-length album due out soon, but have had to push back the release date to the end of September. When asked about the delay, bass player and shaman for the band, Gronk!, had this to say, “Us get put behind when us decided to join battle for Mayhem and play some other dates in July.
