OVERTOUN – Chilean Death-Thrash Powerhouse Signs With Time To Kill Records

Chile’s OVERTOUN has signed with Time To Kill Records for the release of their third album, Death Drive Anthropology. The record is firmly rooted in the ’90s death-thrash tradition but features a modern edge that keeps it agile and current, bridging the gap from Carcass and Atheist to contemporary acts like Revocation. The music also incorporates a compelling Latin influence, adding a unique flavor to the band’s sound.

OVERTOUN is a death-thrash metal band based between Santiago, Chile, and Boston, MA, fusing the rich musical heritage of Latin America with the complexity and aggression of technical death metal. Founded by Agustín Lobo and Matías Bahamondes, the band solidified its lineup with Yoav Ruiz-Feingold (Atheist, Graviton) on vocals and Matías Salas on bass.

Their discography includes two full-length albums: Centuries of Lies (2018) and This Darkness Feels Alive (2021). The latter was mastered by Flemming Rasmussen (Metallica) and won Best Metal Artist at the 2022 Chilean Pulsar Awards (Chilean Grammys), earning strong praise from the specialized media.

OVERTOUN has performed extensively throughout Latin America, with five national tours in Chile, a tour in Brazil, and shows in Argentina, sharing the stage with Death To All, Sinister, Cryptopsy, and Atheist. In 2025, the band completed its first tour of Japan, including performances in Yokohama and Tokyo, with an appearance at the Tokyo Brutal Fest.

Produced by Martín Furia (Destruction, Bark), OVERTOUN’s third album marks a bold new chapter, introducing darker, genre-defining material that aims to amplify Chilean metal’s global presence.

SKELETONWITCH – Announce North American Tour Dates, Summer 2012; European Tour Dates Listed

Ohio Metal heathens SKELETONWITCH have announced plans to demolish North America this summer on a headlining tour, which will also feature classic rockers Barnburner (Metal Blade Records). The tour, which includes two weeks’ worth of dates in Canada, will commence July 13th in York, Pennsylvania soon after the band return from a European tour during which they will play festivals alongside the likes of Slayer, Megadeth, and Behemoth. Ohio headbangers SKELETONWITCH — whose latest album, Forever Abomination, cracked the Billboard Top 200, as well as Decibel’s Top 40 of 2011 — will return to the road this week. After a warm-up show in Cleveland on Friday, the band will join forces with The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile and labelmates Hour Of Penance for a four-week tour that concludes at the New England Metal And Hardcore Festival. This marks the group’s first North American touring action of 2012.

In other SKELETONWITCH news, the final color variant of the forthcoming Breathing The Fire vinyl reissue — which, unlike the sold-out initial pressings of the album, comes in a gatefold Stoughton “tip-on” jacket — has arrived at Prosthetic’s warehouse. Check out a picture of the two-color, half-and-half LP, which is limited to 125 copies at THIS LOCATION.

180-gram black and standard-weight “fire splatter” wax are also available. The former will arrive in select retail stores on April 10; the latter and the half-and-half LP can both be pre-ordered at the PROSTHETIC STORE. LP reissues of the band’s 2007 breakthrough, Beyond The Permafrost — which will also be available in three color variants (“Permafrost splatter,” half-and-half and 180-gram black vinyl) — are still in production, but can also be pre-ordered now at the Prosthetic Store.

HEMOPTYSIS – Nominated Twice For 11th Annual Independent Music Awards

HEMOPTYSIS – Arizona Thrashers HEMOPTYSIS have been nominated for this year’s Independent Music Awards. This marks the band’s second consecutive year being nominated and this year HEMOPTYSIS holds the honor of receiving two nominations in two categories.

The band’s critically acclaimed album, Misanthropic Slaughter is up for Best Metal/Hardcore Album and the track “M.O.D.” (the video for which can be seen at this location) is up for Best Metal/Hardcore Song. This year’s panel of judges includes Ozzy Osbourne, Tom Waits, members of GWAR, Keith Richards and many more.

In addition to the industry-selected winners, fans have until Friday, July 20th to vote for the fan-selected winners at this location.

 In additional HEMOPTYSIS news, guitarist/vocalist Masaki Murashita is set to appear on KGRG 89.9 FM’s Late Night Death radio show on Tuesday, March 13 at 10PM PST.

Masaki will be on the air discussing the band’s most recent release, Misanthropic Slaughter, what 2012 has in store for HEMOPTYSIS and much more. KGRG 89.9 FM broadcasts out of Green River Community College in the Seattle, WA metropolitan area. The interview will also be streaming at http://www.kgrg.com.
