Update From German Death Horde GOREGAST

FDA Rekotz artist GOREGAST has issued an update from their headquarters in Berlin. Firstly, GOREGAST recently commissioned Dedy Badic from Badic Art to design a new logo (posted above) that reflected the band’s return to their classic Death Metal roots. Badic is known for his illustrations for SKELETAL REMAINS, GRUESOME STUFF RELISH and many others.

In early May, GOREGAST will play three dates with Swe-death monsters PAGANIZER. The dates are posted below. After returning home from the three-day assault GOREGAST will enter Soundforge Studio in Berlin to record tracks for an upcoming 7-inch EP set for release in September on FDA Rekotz.

In 2011 GOREGAST released the full-length Desechos Humanos on FDA Rekotz. Album track Honor the Dead is streaming below:

LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR Declares New EP & Release Show For Record Store Day

Celebrating ten years of clear-cut maliciousness through Greek mythology and unchecked riff savagery in 2013, Chicago trio LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR will storm back with a new EP this Spring.

While the members of LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR have been skulking around in the back-alleys of the underground over recent months, the band has been far from dormant. To commemorate a full decade of demolishing eardrums on record and on stage this year, the band will hammer their fanbase with a brand new EP for this year’s Record Store Day.

Entitled Godslayer, the new 7” release bears two new tracks, with the surge of Godslayer opening up, and the monolithic The Black Heart of the Stygian Drakonas on the B-side, both tracks mastered by Scott Hull (Pig Destroyer). A limited edition of 300 copies will be pressed as a 7”, in addition to the digital download through iTunes, Amazon MP3 and the like, and as with their latest album Evil Power will be released on their own The Grind-House Records with distribution from previous label home, Southern Lord, for Record Store Day this April 20th.

In conjunction with Godslayer’s release, LAIR OF THE MINOTAUR will storm stages once again in April, starting with a free hometown Record Store Day show at Reckless Records in Chicago’s Wicker Park.

DECAPITATED – GOING ON TOUR WITH MESHUGGAH THIS APRIL!

PESTILENCE – Signs To Candlelight Records

Candlelight Records today confirms the worldwide signing of PESTILENCE. The celebrated eastern Netherlands-based band is currently preparing to enter the studio to begin work on their seventh studio album, titled Obsideo. The album is expected to be produced by vocalist/guitarist Patrick Mameli and set to feature ten new songs. No release date is set as of press time.

The band comments, “PESTILENCE is very excited to announce that they have signed a recording deal with Candlelight Records. We feel that our new material is very special and innovative and that it needs the back up of a solid company like Candlelight to get it out there to the Metal world.”

Obsideo will feature band mastermind Mameli and long-time partner guitarist Patrick Uterwijk with new German bassist George Maier and Australian drummer Dave Haley. Mameli notes, “PESTILENCE is chuffed to have Dave Haley in the lineup. Dave is one of the five best extreme drummers in the world, and his talent brings PESTILENCE to new levels that couldn’t be reached otherwise. Georg Maier is a young and talented bass player that will turn some heads. Both guys are really down to earth and real easy-going. Of course, Patrick Uterwijk is my most respectable and long-going friend and musician.”

Formed in 1986, PESTILENCE took influence from early American and German Thrash Metal to cultivate it’s now signature Death Metal sound. Four albums would see release and continued worldwide growth for the band before members decided to go separate ways in 1994. Fourteen years later, the band would reform and in 2009 released Resurrection Macabre (Mascot). On review, noted website Chronicles Of Chaos said, “Mameli and company chose to steer this effort down paths previously unexplored whilst maintaining their unmistakably vintage essence.” Blabbermouth added, “distinctive and unique… a diverse and satisfying metal experience.”

In recent years, PESTILENCE has also returned to the live stage; their first North American tour in over 16 years commenced at the annual Maryland Death Fest May 30, 2010. Commenting to Noisecreep after announcement of the 18-city tour, Mameli said, “we will put our heart and soul into these upcoming shows and hope to make lots of fans happy with both old and new material.” PESTILENCE was a featured performer on the second annual 70,000 Tons of Metal Cruise that left Miami on January 23, 2012. The band performed two sets on the popular Caribbean cruise that also featured Cannibal Corpse, Crowbar, My Dying Bride, Samael, Overkill, and Venom among others.

Founded in early 2006, LIFELESS set out to create pure, traditional Death Metal and have done exactly that since day one. No fucking compromises!!!

In 2007, the band self-financed their debut, Beyond The Threshold Of Death. The mastering was done by Vesa Kenttäkumpu (EVOCATION).

Two years later, LIFELESS signed with US-based Ibex Moon Records, the label founded by INCANTATION mastermind John McEntee, who re-released Beyond The Threshold Of Death in June of 2010. The re-released featured new artwork and a cover version of DISMEMBER´s classic “Casket Garden” as a bonus track.

In 2011 LIFELESS parted ways with Ibex Moon Records to get more reputation on the European market, and soon signed a new deal with German based FDA-REKOTZ (Entrails, Revel In Flesh, Revolting, Goregast etc.). The band’s FDA debut came in the form of the 7″ split EP, Chapel Of A Lifeless Cult, with labelmates Chapel Of Disease.

In March of 2013, LIFELESS will release their long-awaited sophomore full-length, Godconstruct. Be prepared for ten tracks of old-school Death fucking Metal!

Spanish Experimental Metallers HYBRID have signed with Deepsend Records to release their sophomore album Angst on April 30th in North America. The album was produced by founding member and drummer Chus Maestro, mixed at Sadman Studios (Wormed) and mastered by Alan Douches (Mastodon, The Dillinger Escape Plan) which feature their heavy and organic trademarked sound far from the non-credible modern super productions.

The follow-up to their acclaimed 2008 debut The 8th Plague, is a conceptual behemoth of Extreme Metal that drives the listener through a progressive and intricate songwriting enriched with arrangements and dynamics able to keep the audience aware all the time since the first listening.

Not unlike the game changer Planisphaerium by countrymen Wormed in 2003, HYBRID’s Angst could very well be the country’s next great output. A true hybrid of genres canvasing all aspects of extreme music into one-cohesive yet complex vortex of sound. HYBRID BIO:

HYBRID was born in 2004 with the intention of setting up an unorthodox extreme music project without self-imposed limits. The band recorded Beyond Undeniable Entropy in 2005 as a presentation, a six song debut MCD of avant-garde, eclectic and technical metal, released the next year by Deadwrong Records, which got a great response within the underground scene.

In the beginning of 2007 HYBRID entered Sadman Studio to record their first full length album The 8th Plague, mastered by Alan Douches (MASTODON, THE DILLINGER ESCAPE PLAN) and with artwork by Seldon Hunt (NEUROSIS, ISIS), which was released by London-based label Eyesofsound (BOSSK, YAKUZA) in August 2008.

The 8th Plague received an outstanding reception worldwide, as it was selected one of the best albums of the year in several specialized media.

After playing live with bands like TOOL, DEFTONES, NAPALM DEATH, CEPHALIC CARNAGE, MISERY INDEX, TEXTURES, MOHO, MACHETAZO and LOOKING FOR AN ANSWER between others, HYBRID went back to the studio in 2011 and recorded their sophomore album Angst, settling their unique approach to the genre while taking their sound one step further in terms of creative freedom.

TODAY IS THE DAY Verifies Extensive North American 2013 Spring Tour

Prophetic extreme music trio TODAY IS THE DAY will embark on an enormous North American tour this March and April, and have unleashed the first wave of confirmed dates.

TODAY IS THE DAY’s upcoming brutal voyage will begin in the Northeast and storm south across the country on the way to SXSW for this year’s official ToneDeaf Touring showcase alongside Orange Goblin, KEN Mode, Mondo Generator and more. After the festivities in Austin the outfit will continue a clockwise path of chaos up through the Northwest and Midwest US and into Canada.

Support for TODAY IS THE DAY throughout most of the venture will be provided by Black Tusk, KEN Mode and Fight Amp. But Black Tusk will drop from the trek after a month on the road, and will be replaced by a special guest to be announced shortly. Additional American and Canadian shows and more action for this year’s SXSW and more will be confirmed soon as well. Stay tuned. In the meantime, the confirmed routing is as follows, with tickets for most of the shows going on sale tomorrow.

Celebrating its twentieth anniversary in 2013, TODAY IS THE DAY remains one of the most unique and influential bands of the past two decades. Led by visionary frontman Steve Austin, TITD’s violent but psychedelic attack has received worldwide acclaim ever since the debut album, Supernova, hit in 1993. Nine studio albums have been released on such labels as Amphetamine Reptile and Relapse, and the band’s ever-morphing lineup has included such musicians as Brann Dailor and Bill Kelliher, who would later go on to form Mastodon.

Detroit Michigan’s Melodic Death Metal outfit, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, will be hitting the road this coming summer as a part of the annual Vans Warped Tour. ANA KEFR – Parts Ways With Two Band Members

Frontman of American extreme prog outfit ANA KEFR (Arabic, “I am Infidel“), Rhiis Lopez, has issued the following statement regarding the recent parting ways with lead guitarist Brendan Moore and drummer Shane Dawson:

“After 3 years of working together, recording the digi-single “Tonight We Watch the Children Fucking Burn” and our critically acclaimed second full-length album “The Burial Tree (II),” we have decided that it would be in the best interests of all involved to let Brendan and Shane pursue their own different musical paths. The reasons all boil down to a conflict of personal interests, but the parting has been on amicable terms and we genuinely wish them the absolute best in their future endeavors. It has been a good ride these past 3 years!

At the moment, ANA KEFR is focused on the future and writing, for a strong return in 2013. We are extremely excited about the new material and can’t wait to share it with everyone!”

ANA KEFR released their second full-length album in 2011, The Burial Tree (II) (Muse Sick), which climbed to #3 best-selling death metal album on Amazon for 2 consecutive weeks – the only independently released album in the top 50. Shortly after the album’s release and a brief American West-coast tour with NEKROGOBLIKON, the band organized and financed their first 32-date nationwide tour, The Zephyr US Tour 2011.

MITCH LUCKER – It has been reported by Suicide Silence, on their facebook, that Mitch Lucker, lead vocalist for Suicide Silence, has passed away at the young age of 28, from injuries sustained in a motorcycle crash. The motorcycle crash happened last night (October 31st) in/near Orange County, California.

There’s no easy way to say this. Mitch passed away earlier this morning from injuries sustained during a motorcycle accident. This is completely devastating to all of us and we offer our deepest condolences to his family. He will be forever in our hearts.

SOUTHWEST TERROR FEST To Occupy Tucson Next Week

Now less than two weeks from its preliminary assault, the first annual SOUTHWEST TERROR FEST will bring thirty-two extreme musical acts together in Tucson, Arizona on October 19th and 20th.

With the main acts for the two-day festival including BEREFT, HULL, SONS OF TONATIUH, DISEASED REASON, PIGEONWING, NORTH, LADYBIRD and curators of the event, GODHUNTER, and the entrance fee a meager $15 for both days, this is a must-attend gathering for anybody in the Southwestern quadrant of the country and beyond.

This awesome, fully DIY-run event was conceived and booked by Tucson sludge metal actGODHUNTER, with Earsplit PR sponsoring the main stage and Metalifestyle.com sponsoring the second stage. Additional support was also provided by Zia Records, Sticks n’ Strings Music Center, Acid Reflux Records and Axe Of Contrition.

Pre-festival interviews with some of the acts set to play at SOUTHWEST TERROR FEST have started posting at Arizona-based webzine The Age Of Metal who will also be providing constant on-site coverage of the entire event.
