CRYSTAL EYES – Signs With Massacre Records

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags crystal eyes, heavy metal news, massacre records, Metal News, metal odyssey, sweden, swedish metal bands, world news on February 21, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

From Massacre Records:

We’re happy to announce the signing of Sweden’s Heavy Metal quartet CRYSTAL EYES!

The story of CRYSTAL EYES began back in 1992, when Mikael Dahl and Niclas Karlsson formed the band to keep the legacy of Heavy Metal set in the 80’s by bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden or Black Sabbath.
During the mid 90’s, the band built a strong underground reputation with the release of 4 demo tapes.

The debut album “World Of Black And Silver” was released in 1999, followed by “In Silence They March” in 2000 both via CLM. Both albums received great reviews.

“Vengeance Descending” hit the stores in 2003, released on Heavy Fidelity, and led to CRYSTAL EYES playing at the Sweden Rock Festival in the same year. Mikael handed over the microphone to Daniel Heiman, who was featured as new vocalist on the band’s 4th album “Confessions Of The Maker” (2005).

Also in 2005, CRYSTAL EYES returned to Sweden Rock as opening act. This gig was the only one with Daniel on vocals, who was then replaced by Søren Nico Adamsen in late 2005.

The two following albums “Dead City Dreaming” (2006) and “Chained” (2008) were both mixed by Fredrik Nordström, with whom the band once again worked on the upcoming album.

Søren Nico Adamsen left the band in 2009 and Mikael took over the microphone again.

CRYSTAL EYES celebrated the band’s 20th anniversary in 2012 with special gigs including former band members and songs from every record. In the past decades, CRYSTAL EYES also supported bands like Blind Guardian, Yngwie Malmsteen and Candlemass.

CRYSTAL EYES’ new album “Killer” is set to be released later this year via Massacre Records!

GUNPOWDER GRAY – New Track “Cut Me Out” Available For Free Download At PureGrainAudio.com

Atlanta riff-masters GUNPOWDER GRAY, Boris Records and PureGrainAudio.com have come together for the world premiere and exclusive free download of the band’s latest track, Cut Me Out. The song comes from GUNPOWDER GRAY’s upcoming 12-inch, seven-tune vinyl EP, which is due out via Boris Records on Record Store Day (April 20).

To stream or download the MP3, visit this location.

When they are not performing with Atlanta-based Death Metal grinders Disfigurement, vocalist Nate Godbee and guitarist Adam Besserer pair with three local punk veterans and dig deep down to the roots of heavy Rock And Roll as Gunpowder Gray. The group, which also features Sam Vaughan (bass), Chris Heffernan (guitar and vocals), and Biters drummer Joey O’Brien, captures the blues-tinged, riff driven sound of classic acts ranging from metal progenitors like Black Sabbath and Pentagram to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal.

On April 20, the band follows up its debut three song demo with a seven song 12″ E.P., its first vinyl release on Atlanta’s Boris Records. Limited colored vinyl (100) will be available on Record Store day.

UNTIMELY DEMISE “Systematic Eradication” – A Metal Album From 2013 You Really NEED To Know About!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal, world news with tags canadian metal bands, metal albums 2013, metal odyssey, saskatoon canada, systematic eradication, Thrash Metal, thrash metal bands, untimely demise on February 7, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

4.5 METAL Fists Out Of 5!

UNTIMELY DEMISE are from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thrash Metal and Death Metal collide in a fireball of gargantuan glory, on Systematic Eradication; with healthy slices of True and Speed Metal adding to the Metal delicacy! Untimely Demise is, in my Metal opinion, a Metal band that has an enormous cross-over appeal to Metal fans of widespread Metal tastes. I’m certain the majority shall agree, the cover artwork for Systematic Eradication kicks quantum ass. Ed Repka is an artistic Metal genius.

With plenty of melodic guitar solos and groove infested rhythm throughout, Systematic Eradication is a Metal release from 2013 that must be highlighted here on Metal Odyssey. This Untimely Demise album comes across with such a genuine attack of Thrash sound and energy; I cannot resist listening to Systematic Eradication, in its entirety, each time I reach for it! Vocally and musically impressive, as ALL eight songs flow seamlessly together, with each song having ample Metal uniqueness of structure and enjoyability. A fabulous Metal album! Metal be thy name. – Stone

SYSTEMATIC ERADICATION – Track Listing:

01 – Spiritual Embezzlement

02 – The Last Guildsman

03 – Somali Pirates

04 – Redemption

05 – Navigator’s Choice

06 – A Warrior’s Blood

07 – Revolutions

BLOODBOUND “In The Name Of Metal” – Defends The Metal Faith Triumphantly!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, Power Metal, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags bloodbound, bloodbound in the name of metal, Metal, metal albums 2012, Metal News, metal odyssey, power metal bands on February 3, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

5 Metal Fists Out Of 5!

BLOODBOUND are a Power Metal band from Bollnäs, Sweden and I’ll guarantee their 2012 album, In The Name Of Metal, will kick your Metal lovin’ ass into the week after next. This insane fabulous album was released via AFM Records. Yup, the album cover artwork tells you immediately, that this Bloodbound album is whiz-bang.

When it comes to guitar driven Power Metal, Bloodbound are an unstoppable force. Unreal. Are Metal anthems what you crave? Bloodbound will have you lighting a torch and marching down main street to city hall at midnight. In The Name Of Metal and Metalheads Unite are two Metal anthems that speaks for our Metal community. Metal victory doesn’t await us, my fellow Metal brethren, the Metal victory is here and heard throughout this Bloodbound album! All the posers that aren’t still getting all this may now leave. Get out.

Lead vocalist Patrik Johansson is a pure talent, with a splendid touch of influence from Metal legends as Kai Hansen, Andi Deris and Bruce Dickinson. There’s even an obvious vocal influence of the legendary Udo Dirkschneider that I hear on Monstermind. I honestly put Patrik Johansson on a high Metal pedestal; for his range and sporadic falsetto are plenty impressive, to me. Bloodbound easily commands me to really feel the outpouring of jubilant Metal that they play so incredibly well, on In The Name Of Metal.

In The Name Of Metal never lets up on its powerful Metal momentum, from beginning to end it’s a Metal thrill! My favorite song is Black Devil, however, this entire album is relentless with its mission of in-your-face Power Metal. Bloodbound are just a complete Metal band and they’ve easily demonstrated to me their out-and-out power! Support Bloodbound, buy this album and thank me in the Metal future. Metal be thy name. – Stone

CIRCLE OF SILENCE “The Rise Of Resistance” – German Power Metal Strikes Again!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, Power Metal, rock music, rock music news, world news with tags circle of silence, circle of silence the rise of resistance, massacre records, metal albums 2013, Metal News, metal odyssey, power metal bands on February 2, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

4 Metal Fists Out Of 5!

Looking back on 2013, there were many, many great Metal albums released; Metal albums that should always be hailed here, on Metal Odyssey. One such album is The Rise Of Resistance and the Power Metal brilliance of Heilbronn, Germany’s Circle Of Silence. This is a Power Metal album that MUST be heard, to understand it’s true potent thunder!

Yes, once again, we have album cover artwork that matches the Metal heard within like a Metal glove! Nick on vocals comes across as the ever confident and eloquent Metal frontman, as he exhibits an attitude and grandiose vibe of pure might, with every note. The duo guitar fretwork of Tobias and Chris is a sensation to take in; with the rhythm section of Björn (bass) and Pit (drums) only exemplifies why Circle Of Silence is a Power Metal force to adhere to.

Released via Abstatt, Germany’s Massacre Records, The Rise Of Resistance is just one of many numerous Metal gems that this legendary record label offered in 2013. Any rabid Power Metal and/or True Metal fan’s album collection is amiss without this recent Circle Of Silence offering. Circle Of Silence = Metal. Period. What makes any album memorable are the songs and Circle Of Silence surely has them on The Rise Of Resistance. Metal be thy name. – Stone

January 31, 2014 Cincinnati, Ohio – The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization has confirmed the addition of West Coast heavy metallers RESISTANCE to the Warriors of Metal VII Fest. Only the third California-based act in the fest’s year history, the Lion Music Recording artists will be supporting the release of their fourth studio album, tentatively titled Knights of Doom.

Co-founder/bassist Paul Shigo states: “We are honored to be invited to perform at the 7th annual Warriors of Metal Festival. We’ve kept an eye on this Festival and watched it continually grow since it’s inception. We respect the credibility and reputation of this Festival, the organizer Datis Alaee, and the caliber of the Heavy Metal music and bands that have performed here throughout the years. WOM Fest’s dedication to the fans and music reminds me of an up and coming Keep it True or Headbangers Open Air Festival, but in the U.S.”

The band has posted their single “VLAD” below:

LOST SOCIETY – NEW ALBUM “TERROR HUNGRY” DETAILS REVEALED!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal bands, Metal, metal bands, metal music, Music, news, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal, world news with tags lost society, lost society terror hungry, metal albums 2014, Metal News, metal odyssey, Thrash Metal, thrash metal bands on January 28, 2014 by Metal Odyssey

LOST SOCIETY, one of the most promising up-and-coming Finnish bands of our time, has released the details to their upcoming album Terror Hungry. “LOST SOCIETY is back, and we’re angrier than ever,” commented guitarist/vocalist Samy Elbanna. “The new album Terror Hungry is a full on thrash album from start to finish, with a darker and even more aggressive feel to it! It has the signature elements that make up LOST SOCIETY and we’ve put in even more groove riffage, more mind blistering guitar shredding, and some of the fastest stuff we’ve ever done on it! Look out, this one’s gonna be faster, louder and we’re more pissed off than ever!”

Terror Hungry was produced by Nino Laurenne (AMORPHIS, ENSIFERUM, LORDI) at the renowned Sonic Pump studios (FINNTROLL, SONATA ARCTICA, OMNIUM GATHERUM). The artwork was created by Jan Meininghaus (BOLT THROWER, SICK OF IT ALL, UDO). Expect to see the release of Terror Hungry in both digital and physical formats on April 1st (North America) and April 4th (Europe) via Nuclear Blast Records.

Artist Jan Meininghaus states about the album cover:

“I was asked to do LOST SOCIETY’s new album cover and first of all, I had to face the fact that I had to follow their debut album’s art that was created by the legendary Ed Repka; one of the true heroes of my own thrash metal days. So I decided to go a different way and create the band’s cover idea in a much darker and less cartoony mood than the debut. LOST SOCIETY’s musical style and their approach to metal is very 80’s bay area to me, so I thought it might be fun to paint something that might have been on one of those record covers these days. I listened to LOST SOCIETY and my old EXODUS, TESTAMENT and FORBIDDEN vinyls and it was a blast to come up with Terror Hungry artwork!”

The track list of Terror Hungry reads as follows:

01. Spurgatory
02. Game Over
03. Attaxic
04. Lethal Pleasure
05. Terror Hungry
06. Snowroad Blowout
07. Tyrant Takeover
08. Overdosed Brain
09. Thrashed Reality
10. F.F.E.
11. Brewtal Awakening
12. Mosh It Up
13. Wasted After Midnight

Bonus:
14. You Can’t Stop Rock ‘N’ Roll

LOST SOCIETY’s debut Fast Loud Death displayed a true old-school Thrash vibe in 2013 and managed to amaze press and scene veterans such as KREATOR, TANKARD, DESTRUCTION or TESTAMENT alike. Just check out these video clips from that very record, to see what all the hype is about:
