MANTICORE’s history has been paved with blasphemous abominations since its inception 15 years ago. While still & always faithfully holding their distinctive vicious ferocity, MANTICORE’s 7+ minute track on this 7″ EP is also heavily doom-ridden.
At the other end of the spectrum, RITUAL SLAUGHTER are debuting with severe and virulent venom that will rapidly establish these heretics as a brute force to be reckoned with. This 7″ EP is limited to 300 hand-numbered copies and comes with a 2-panel-foldout-cover & 14″x14″ poster. Depraved cover artwork by Daniel Desecrator. The split is due to be released on November 6 2015.
The Finnish Pagan Metal band VORNA will release their second full length album ”Ei valo minua seuraa” (transl. ”No Light Follows Me”) on 4th December 2015. The album will be released through Inverse Records.
The album has been mixed by Tuomas Kokko from Electric Fox Studios (e.g. Swallow the Sun, Ghost Brigade) and mastered by Jaakko Viitalähde from Virtalähde Mastering (e.g. Black Crucifixion, Alghazanth, Ghost Brigade). The album cover artworks have been designed by Jarno Lahti from Kaamos Illustration & Design (e.g. Pain, Hypocrisy, Before the Dawn).
The lead-vocalist Vesa Salovaara shared a few words about the album recordings and about the actual album:
”This year has most certainly been Vorna’s busiest one to date and the whole album making process was quite intensive experience as well. The song material was constantly evolving from the earliest demo sessions in April all the way to the mixing which took place in July. As a result we think we’re holding our most mature, diverse and also, in a way, darkest album yet. Still, neither risks nor untamed intuitive ideas were avoided and we believe that one might find even somewhat surprising shades from it’s depths. Lyrically ”Ei valo minua seuraa” is dealing with quite universal and timeless themes. The story is fundamentally about a journey towards mental or spiritual equilibrium which is being torned by contradictive identities and generally estranged world.
”Jälkemme” represents the more straightforward approach of the album and that’s one of the reasons we chose it to be the first single. It’s quite a beast of a song and we believe it has a lot to offer in live environment. Come to our show and witness it yourself!”
Tracklist:
1. Harmaudesta (Away from Grey)
2. Jälkemme (Heritage)
3. Itsetön (Soul Shriven)
4. Sieluni varjossa (In the Nightside of Self)
5. Vaipunut (Of Life Descended)
6. Yksin (Alone)
7. Hiljaiset rauniot (Silent Ruins)
VORNA will head out for a European tour in October. The shows in October are co-headlined with the German Black Metal titans Thyrgrim and the two shows in Sweden in November with the Swedish Folk/Viking Metal band Grimner. Below you may find all tour dates:
French Occult Doom-rockers Akasava have announced new shows in their homeland, two in their local Le Havre and one in Rouen.
The band give an especial shout-out to Belgian doom lot Bathsheba, with whom they are playing in Le Havre. “We are honoured that we get to play with such an excellent band,” enthuses frontman Louis Hauguel.
He goes on to drop some further excellent news from the Akasava camp: the band are currently demoing new material that they are planning to record “beginning next year.” The songs follow an extremely well-received EP this year entitled Strange Aeons, which you can check out on Bandcamp here:
The Book Of Souls World Tour will open in the U.S.A in late February with Ed Force One flying in for three shows before, in early March, heading into Central America visiting MEXICO, followed by a much-anticipated first ever concert in EL SALVADOR and a return to COSTA RICA. Ed Force One then proceeds into South America for concerts in ARGENTINA, CHILE and a number of shows in BRAZIL before flying back to the USA at the end of March for ten more cities covering the USA and, of course, CANADA in the first two weeks of April.
A long-awaited return to JAPAN follows later in April, and then the band are delighted to be playing their first ever shows in CHINA before heading to NEW ZEALAND and AUSTRALIA for a comprehensive tour during the first half of May. Shows in SOUTH AFRICA, Maiden’s first visit there with Bruce, will be the last port of call before Ed Force One heads to EUROPE for a very extensive tour starting in late May and finishing in early August.

If that HALFORD song above doesn’t psyche-you-out, there is evidently a serious constipation issue that must be addressed.

US cult Power Metal perennials Sacred Oath have just posted a new music video for “Taken” – the first single from their brand new album “Ravensong” – on YouTube. View it with the link or watch it below:
The band members all live in Connecticut, a state where graveyards can be found on just about every street corner, so it’s no surprise that the new music video for “Taken” was shot on an abandoned island in Bridgeport with a cast of creatures from the “other side.” We’re talking Zombies here, nasty ones and they apparently heed the whims of their siren mistress (played by tattoo model/Instagram starling Leah Jung). Jung lures the band to her isle of the damned where they are condemned to play their classic, hard-hitting Metal style for her and her legions – eternally.
“What’s cool is that this video is really a return for us to how the band got started,” says Sacred Oath singer Rob Thorne. “Back in ’85 we would have our bass player crawling out of a coffin drenched in blood to deliver (the band’s signature anthem) “Rising From the Grave” at our live shows and the kids loved it! It’s cool to be back in a horror vibe with the “Taken” video, especially with an album that we’re so excited about.”
Thorne was approached by a former guitar student of his, Jordan Elizabeth Gelber, back in April about producing the video. Her company Starbaby Enterprises in New York was looking for a short film project and it seemed like a great way for both Starbaby and the band to benefit.
“Jordan became a good friend over the years and I always trusted that she had a good sense of what Sacred Oath was all about. It was a no-brainer to bring her on for this video. She’s incredibly ambitious.”
“Ravensong” is the band’s seventh studio album and was released this past Friday September 18th by Angel Thorne Music/Caroline/Universal. “Taken” also premiered this past Friday on the popular Heavy Metal website Bravewords.com.
After a few months in his home studio in Armstrong, BC, Chris Shaver has produced the debut full-length VHOD album, ‘Dreamcleaver’. Chris mans the helm alone, performing all the instruments and vocals and this album showcases snippets of unused material spanning many years as well as brand new material. The release is a fair representation of VHOD’s Experimental Death Metal angle and will cement a milestone for Chris in his quarter-of-a-century musical journey thus far.
VHOD was conceived in January 2014 and is a merger of Godcursed (2004-2014), Morbid Darkness (1989-2014) and Worms Of The Birth (2011-2014), which were all active projects of sole member Chris Shaver at the time. Early VHOD releases exhibited sporadic styles and were mostly instrumental pieces used as a basis for finding a more focussed signature sound. Said releases consist of 3 singles, ‘The Scornful Winter’, ‘One Fallen’ & ‘Cimmeria’ and an EP, ‘Dreams Of 11.14′, respectively, all released independently.
In December of 2014, work began on the ‘Tor’ Series, which consists of 4 parts: ‘Behind The Shroud Of Mist’, ‘Wrap Three Times’, ‘Portal’ and ‘The Desolates’, respectively. In these independent releases an evident foundation was made with which future VHOD recordings will branch out from. Dreamcleaver is set for release November 13th 2015 on Finnish label INVERSE RECORDS.
Through the verbose horror of their first two LPs (2011’s Carnal Law and 2013’s Patricidal Lust) San Francisco’s VASTUM sadistically carved a jagged dripping wound into an increasingly reductive American Death Metal scene. One of the most lyrically unique, creative and disturbing bands in underground Metal, now arising for their third full length album, VASTUM plumbs the depths of internalized agony and degradation farther than ever on Hole Below.
Characterized by a deeply cavernous trudge through gut churning heaviness, Hole Below both bluntly crushes and rigorously shreds to conceive fully formed grotesqueries of debased brutality. Guitarist Leila Abdul-Rauf wields her axe with the experienced slice of a masked executioner, quartering savage riffs and twisting leads alongside the thunder of guitarist Shelby Lermo. The abhorrent vocal (and lyrical) morbidity traded by imposing frontman Daniel Butler and Abdul-Rauf continues to be the most formidable combination in Death Metal. The intimidating rhythm section of bassist Luca Indrio and drummer Adam Perry steer the war machine through the pooled blood and skull fragments scattered amidst the debauched iniquity of this peculiar hell.
Three albums in, VASTUM has honed their disturbed masochism into a sound manifestly their own and true to the core of the purest darkest Death Metal. Crushingly recordead at Earhammer Studios in Oakland and mastered at Audiosiege by Brad Boatright, the art for Hole Below was created by vocalist Daniel Butler. 20 Buck Spin (also responsible for the release of the band’s prior two albums) presents Hole Below as one of the finest and best executed examples of the genre this year.
Hole Below will emerge on CD and digital formats on November 6th, with the LP to follow in December. Fans of Bolt Thrower, Grave, Death, Asphyx, Shroud Of The Heretic, Cruciamentum and the like are hereby on notice.
VASTUM will strike with new tour dates in support of Hole Below, including the band’s debut East Coast performances which are being slabbed for early November. Stand by for tour specifics in the coming days.
Hole Below – Track Listing:
1. Sodomitic Malevolence
2. Amniosis
3. In Sickness And In Death
4. Intrusions

Not all stones are stationary: Hypermass may recall images of huge monoliths, but these structures have speed! From the far-flung climes of Trondheim, Norway, Hypermass are a genre-melding Extreme Metal band whose goal is to draw upon the melody of death, black and thrash metal, and occasionally throw in some prog and jazz influences too. Clouded Visions is the result of intense jamming in these genres.
Sindre Dagestad, guitarist, commented on the recording process: “Since we didn’t have a producer there to tell us how much we sucked, we really went hard on ourselves to get the best result possible. It was a great experience, and all that hard work quickly paid off when we heard the amazing mixing/mastering job done by Stamos Koliousis, as he really breathed new life into the music.”
Track Listing is as follows:
1. Intro
2. Ionized
3. Embracing Erasion
4. In The Final Stage Of Embryonic
5. Clouded Visions
RIYL: Revocation, The Black Dahlia Murder, Allegaeon

BAND BIO:
Hypermass is a Melodic Death Metal band hailing from Trondheim, Norway. Formed in 2012, the quintet first garnered attention from the local scene by fusing all kinds of different subgenres together, with elements of Black, Death, and Thrash Metal all while heavily relying on melody. Since releasing their first demo Into Oblivion in late 2013, the band have refined and focused their sound to a tight and extreme style of Metal, without forsaking the all-important melody.
In the summer of 2014, the band attended music high school and started writing their debut EP. Their bassist Martin Nordvik departed into the military, where he still serves. They got the interest of other bass players and quickly settled on the skilled Marius Grindflek. Their debut EP Clouded Visions was recorded in February 2015 by the band at the school (Trøndertun Folkehøgskole).
The band contacted several mixing/mastering engineers, before agreeing that Stamos Koliousis was the right choice, mostly for his incredible work with his own band Mencea. Now that the EP has been released and available worldwide, the band is currently in the early stages of writing their debut full-length.
Pavement Music has released Dux Mea Lux, the debut EP from Louisiana-based thrash collective CRETUS. After a year spent casting their enigmatic shadow over the famed NOLA Metal scene, the worldwide release of Dux Mea Lux will see the band’s message and music delivered to the masses. Select tracks from the EP are streaming at:
CRETUS recently released the official music video for “Price of Immortality.” The uncut version of the video, which features NSFW content, is now playing at the band’s website – www.FollowCretus.com.
A censored version of the video has been posted below or at this location.
CRETUS’ music is hard-hitting thrash metal at its core; mathematically precise riffs, dive-bombing guitar solos, and thundering drums pummel the listener and their compelling melodies and bizarre pop sensibility make each song from Dux Mea Lux subtly addictive.
Rock vet Pepper Keenan (DOWN, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY) has been singing the mysterious group’s praises, stating: “CRETUS is a killer band with ripping guitar work and clear vocal hooks. For sure a future global outfit. They wear masks and slaughter virgins on stage. Need I say more?”
“Cretus have put together a five-song set that is full of occult themes that are sure to summon the youth of today” – SkullsNBones.com
While it is unknown exactly when or where CRETUS formed, they began publicly spreading their message through music in 2014, with the group rapidly gaining strong support after their first show opening for legendary metal band DOWN in New Orleans. Devout followers of CRETUS pack into shows wearing the group’s signature black masks and cloaks, bobbing their heads in support as hypnotic lights pulse and dense fog surrounds them, becoming a raving heavy metal congregation unable and unwilling to escape the dark energy emanating from the speakers.
Multi-sensory performance rituals such as sacrificial demonstrations and strange pagan rites add an even more ominous tone to the already frightening spectacle of the four masked figures destroying the stage. Heavily symbolic imagery, esoteric subject matter, and poetic lyrics give listeners something deeper to latch onto with CRETUS, and Pavement Records is proud to have released their debut EP.
Dux Mea Lux was released worldwide on September 4, 2015.

French Death Metallers Antropofago have just released a brand new digital single for Helter Skelter, taken from the band’s latest full-length Æra Dementiæ. The single includes a bonus cover version of Sepultura’s classic Arise, which has been part of the Antropofago’s live set for quite some time now.
“Helter Skelter” is available for FREE download at the link below:
Four years after their debut full-length, Beyond Phobia, Antropofago further explore the depths of human psychosis with Æra Dementiæ, a dementia-based concept album that continues the chilling look into phobia that was its predecessor. The album sees Antropofago reach new levels of technical prowess, production and artistic maturity.
Still as diverse in its approach of technical Death Metal, the new material is marked with well-placed doses of brutality and addictive choruses to make Æra Dementiæ the breakthrough album for Antropofago! Featuring a special guest solo by Nicolas Alberny (Gorod) and guest vocals by label-mates Laurent Chambe (Nephren-Ka), Aara (ex-Savage Annihilation), Benoit Jean (ex-Insain) and other surprise contributors, the album is full of hidden little gems and the over-the-top musicianship.
With the first pressing limited to 500 copies, Kaotoxin Records released the album on August 14th as a deluxe DigiSleeve double CD featuring an expanded version of the band’s 2012 Between Fear and Madness EP. Further physical and digital editions will be released on the same day as two separate releases, with Æra Dementiæ and Between Fear and Madness [Redux] sold individually.
Atom By Atom, the forthcoming new full-length from British Heavy Metal titans, SATAN, will see release via Listenable Records on October 16th. Recorded at Newcastle’s First Avenue Studios, and mixed and mastered by Dario Mollo (Crossbones, The Cage, Voodoo Hill) who helmed the band’s 2013’s critically acclaimed comeback album Life Sentence, Atom By Atom includes a collaboration with Angel Witch’s Kevin Heybourne as well as the striking cover renderings of Eliran Kantor (Testament, Sodom, Sigh, Iced Earth etc.) who crafted the art for SATAN‘s previous opus.
Issues guitarist Steve Ramsey of the upcoming full-length, “We wanted to keep some continuity going with both the look and sound of this album. We’ve been working on the music for nearly two years now and I think people will definitely hear a progression from Life Sentence. I can’t really describe it but I promise you, these songs will speak for themselves.”
In advance of its release, today Decibel Magazine offers up new SATAN hymn, “Fallen Saviour,” for public appreciation noting, “NWOBHM legends SATAN unsuspended their sentence with a vengeance in 2013, conjuring acclaimed comeback album Life Sentence. The quintet is poised to follow it up with Atom By Atom, and second track ‘Fallen Saviour’ is indicative of the ripping evil within.”
Get wicked with “Fallen Saviour,” courtesy of Decibel Magazine at THIS LOCATION.
Founded in Newcastle, England in 1979, SATAN was part of the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal movement. Though generally obscure throughout their career, the band is considered influential for playing a form of proto-thrash metal that was fairly advanced by the standards of the early 1980s. Their lineup has undergone a number of personnel changes over the years and even changes in band name. For a time the band was called Blind Fury, putting out one album – 1985’s Out Of Reach – under that moniker before reverting back to SATAN shortly thereafter.
In 1988, the group changed its name again to The Kindred and then yet again to Pariah, releasing two albums under that name before folding in the early ’90s. In 1997 Pariah released another album. The band’s shifting lineup has included members of many other heavy metal bands such as Blitzkrieg, Rough Edge, Pariah, Atomkraft, Avenger, Persian Risk, Cronos and Battleaxe. In 1990, guitarist Steve Ramsey and bassist Graeme English together with singer Martin Walkyier of UK thrash metal band Sabbat founded folk metal act Skyclad.
Atom By Atom will see release on October 16th via Listenable Records. For preorders point your browser to THIS LOCATION.
Swedish Heavy Metal stalwarts, RAM, are ready to unleash their latest batch of fist-raising anthems to the masses in the form of Svbversvm. The band’s fourth studio LP will be released the 30th of October via Metal Blade Records worldwide. In Europe, the record will be available as a limited CD/DVD digipak, as well as on CD and vinyl.
Comments RAM on their latest offering, “This album is the rebirth of RAM and a natural step to take after Death. For this album, we went back and rediscovered the mass of notes, lyrical ideas and sketches that were created at the very birth of RAM, from around 1999-2001. We saw that these ideas were more valid than ever and still very inspiring. We are very pleased with the album that is the product of four months of being locked up in the studio and offering our very last drop of sweat and blood for it to become the most massive RAM production ever. This is our latest assault upon the rotting world, may it be a dagger in the heart of the powers that may be! Svbversvm is at hand!”

The album was recorded by the band themselves at The Doom Cave, and was mixed and mastered by Billy Anderson (Melvins, Neurosis, Sleep, High on Fire, Agalloch etc), and featured artwork by the band’s lead guitarist and artist Rahul Chacko.
The record showcased a fairly young band playing doom with generous influence from 70s hard rock, with all the hooks, melodies and blues-favoured riffs you’d expect from that combo. The positive response worldwide to the album went a long way to putting them on the map, even as far as earning them a slot at the prestigious Maryland Deathfest in the USA. Songs from the album became live staples since the release, and were also featured in various compilations worldwide.
Two years after the release of the first album, with more experience and skill under their belt, the band wrapped up writing new songs for the second album titled Invoke the Bizarre. The album is set for a 25th September 2015 release in India and October 31st for the rest of the world.
