I went to see NAPALM DEATH with the Melvins last Friday night, at Bogart’s in Cincinnati, Ohio. It was the second time I’ve seen NAPALM DEATH during my Metal life. My Metal buddy Troy was with me and we’ve seen many, many shows together. It’s always good times!
We started the evening at Martino’s with some beer and loaded fries, directly across the street from Bogart’s. A big sports bar it is; with exceptional staff and I really dig the place. Once we saw the line begin to file into Bogart’s, we went across the street to get our night ignited by the metal that was to ensue.

South Texas metal juggernauts OVERT ENEMY have released their explosive new single, “Fire in the Skies,” along with a gripping lyric video that captures the chaos and urgency of all-out war. The track is the eighth on their upcoming concept album Insurrection, and it marks the second chapter in a three-song arc chronicling an alien invasion.
“Fire in the Skies” brings a heavy dose of hardcore-inspired riffing and battlefield energy. Originally nicknamed “hardcorish” in demo form, the song pulses with a frantic, boots-on-the-ground urgency. It is a musical call to arms for when the invasion hits home.
“This one’s about the invasion and a Red Dawn sense of urgency,” the band explains. “You roll up to your buddy’s house and you’re like, ‘dude, it’s time to go to war.’ The riffs are definitely hardcore inspired, and we’ve been playing this one live for a while now. We even dropped a live version on our Thunder in the Hill Country album.”
The new lyric video puts a visual exclamation point on the track’s unrelenting pace, pairing the high-octane riffing with images of conflict, resistance, and the looming unknown. Fans who’ve seen the band perform the song live will recognize the energy, but now it’s been captured and cranked up for the studio version.
Following their acclaimed comeback Here For None (2023), WARMEN turns the page with Band Of Brothers, their most powerful and cohesive album to date, set for release on August 15th via Reaper Entertainment.
In 2025, WARMEN presents themselves heavier, tighter, and more determined than ever before. The new record combines brutal heaviness, anthemic melodies, and cinematic atmosphere cementing the band’s evolution from a side project to a fully-fledged force in melodic death metal. “We really wrote this album together,” says band founder Janne “Warman” Wirman. “It feels like a real band, a true band of brothers.”
WARMEN’s Band Of Brothers was recorded at various locations across Finland and refined by Mikko Karmila (mixing) and Mika Jussila (mastering) at the legendary Finnvox Studios. Frontman Petri Lindroos (Ensiferum) delivers aggressive vocals and distinctive guitar solos, adding new energy and helping to define the band’s modern sound. The cover artwork was once again created by Aleh Zieliankievic, who also worked on Here For None.
The first single, the title track “Band Of Brothers,” will play a central role in the band’s 2025 live set. Following the album release, WARMEN will embark on an extensive touring schedule across Europe, including debut shows in Hungary and Switzerland, as well as a major headlining tour in Finland. Technical death metal force EXTERMINATUS has unveiled a new guitar playthrough video for “Starbound,” the third track from their latest album Echoes From A Distant Star Part 1. Shot on a vibrant spring day in Vancouver, this video captures not only the technical finesse of guitarists Elia Baghbaniyan (KIESEL) and Tabreez Azad (SCHECTER), but also a striking contrast between the band’s heavy, groove-infused sound and the serene setting of Habitat Island.
“Starbound” is one of the more melodic and rhythmically driven songs on Echoes From A Distant Star Part 1, showcasing EXTERMINATUS’s ability to weave atmosphere and groove into their technically dense compositions. The track is filled with uplifting leads, dynamic riff changes, and tight synchronization between both guitarists, making it a standout moment on the record and a fan favorite for playthrough content.

I took these photos with my iPhone, sitting up in the balcony. My bad knees and legs forbid my wanting to be on the floor and up-close, nowadays. I was accompanied by my Metal Buddy Troy. This was my second time seeing the Melvins, duringmy Metal life. I was pumped from start to finish!
Buzz Osborne was on top of his game! The legend never slowed down for a second! Entire band and crowd was lit! I didn’t want their set to end; yet it was comforting to know Napalm Death was at the ready! I hope you enjoy some of these photos; it was difficult with the lightingand distance. After nearly a decade since their debut, metal band PATCHWORK returns with the release of their powerful new album, Scars. The album is accompanied by the debut of a lyric video for the emotionally devastating closing track, “At The End,” available HERE.
Formed in 2010 by five longtime friends reuniting after years away from music, PATCHWORK has evolved from a thrash cover band into a formidable force of original songwriting. Scarsserves as a conceptual sequel to their 2015 debut Exit Wounds, digging deeper into the emotional and psychological aftermath of trauma. Where Exit Wounds explored the moment of impact, Scars lingers in its wake.

Marking a bold shift in their creative approach, the band deconstructed their usual songwriting method by starting with drums instead of riffs. Percussionist P.A. recorded raw, unanchored drum tracks that guitarist E.S. then manipulated and smothered with riffs designed to overpower the rhythms. While the unorthodox process could have resulted in utter chaos, it instead gave birth to some of the most refined and structurally cohesive material the band has produced to date.

Polish death metal legends VADER are pleased to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their classic Litany album, which was released on Metal Blade Records in 2000, with a special vinyl reissue.
The original eleven tracks/thirty-one minutes of Litany come newly remastered for vinyl by Wojtek Wieslawski (Hertz Recording Studio). The LP also includes a sixteen-page booklet with new liner-notes by band leader, guitarist/vocalist Peter Wiwczarek.

Dutch metal powerhouse Martyr has announced their brand new studio album entitled Dark Believer for an August 15th release on ROAR! A video clip for the band’s first single, the colossal album title track is now premiering below!
“The first single from our upcoming album Dark Believer is HERE. During the writing and recording process, this song evolved into something dark and mysterious,” the band states. “Embracing the shadows, where demons lurk, witches chant, and lost souls are drawn into the unknown. Martyr is a metal band from the Netherlands, forging their legacy since 1982. The world first took notice in 1985 when their track En Masse (Stand Or Die) appeared on Metal Blade’s iconic Metal Massacre VI compilation alongside acts like Possessed, Dark Angel, and Nasty Savage. That same year, their debut album For The Universe became an instant classic, praised by Encyclopaedia Metallum for its superior songwriting.

BOCC make their Horror Pain Gore Death Productions debut with the compilation Obrint El Taüt! Formed in 2019, BOCC hail straight from the sewers of Barcelona, Spain and perform Death/Doom Metal in the ways of the old. Obrint El Taut, which translates to Opening The Coffin, presents the band’s three EPs: Al La Forca, Santa Eulàlia, and La Forja Dels Cranis… twelve tracks totaling 75+ minutes of bone-crushing brutality!

LOS ANGELES, May 13, 2025 – The Melvins cap off 2025 with the “Stop Your Whining Tour,” a six-week outing with special guests Redd Kross for a double shot of underground rock royalty.
Known for their crushing riffs, genre-defying experiments, and off-kilter sense of humor, the Melvins continue to defy expectations four decades into their career. The band, currently featuring Buzz Osborne, Dale Crover, Steven McDonald (also of Redd Kross), and Coady Willis, remains one of the most influential and unpredictable forces in heavy music. Their recently released album, Thunderball (https://themelvins.lnk.to/Thunderball), delivers the “most irresistible, huge-sounding tunes” (Kerrang!) and as AllMusic said, is as “utterly uncompromised and full of swampy vigor” as ever.
Joining them for the full tour are L.A. icons Redd Kross, whose kaleidoscopic blend of punk, retro glam, and garage rock has earned them a cult following since the early ’80s. Redd Kross were recently the subject of both a book (Now You’re One Of Us: The Incredible Story of Redd Kross) and documentary (Born Innocent: The Redd Kross Story).

Following a trio of shows, including a set at Legalize Lex Fest in April, the main tour launches this Friday in Fort Wayne, Indiana and runs through the end of the month, hitting a good portion of the mid-Atlantic and Southeast, followed by a one-off show in June. RADIAN emerged in the winter of 2017, founded by guitarist Mike Burns (ex-Rue, Fistula, Sofa King Killer). Their vision to merge groove with grime culminated in the roaring, sludgy assault of their independent debut LP, Chapters (2019), praised by The Obelisk as delivering, “that extra bit of aggression one finds underlying the most satisfying of sludge metals.” Fueled by a growing response from the heavy metal community, the dynamic four-piece embraced their DIY roots, building a steady following throughout the Midwest.

This momentum led to the writing and release of their punishing sophomore album, Discordian, on Burns’ own El Burno Records in December 2021. Relentless shows and touring in support of Discordian brought both growth and turbulence, with multiple lineup shifts along the way. By Fall 2022, drummer Derek Vaive (Ommnus) joined the ranks, followed by vocalist Corey Staley (A Damn Shame) solidifying the new lineup in Fall 2024. Now armed with fresh material and a renewed sense of purpose, RADIAN is set to hit the road again in Spring 2025, delivering their brand of sludgy doom with unrelenting force.
RADIAN is currently in the later stages of completing work on their third LP. Stand by for updates as the album is prepared for release in the months ahead.
CATTLE DECAPITATION is very pleased to celebrate the two-year anniversary of their monstrous tenth studio album, Terrasite, with a two-hour “making of” documentary, From This Flesh: A Cattle Decapitation Story.
The documentary was shot, directed, and edited by Australian videographer Nicholas VanVidler who produced the band’s 2021-released “Finish Them”music video. VanVidler captured the entire Terrasite recording process from beginning to end and has spent the last two years piecing together the footage. The film not only celebrates Terrasite, but inadvertently examines the history of the band from inception.
Comments vocalist Travis Ryan, “Our buddy Nick VanVidler (NJV Media, Body Prison) went to make a studio documentary about Terrasite and what came out was more of an extremely introspective look into the band as a whole with a specificity on how we write and record albums. It’s insightful, intense, funny, sad, unfiltered, immersive, and if you’re a longtime true fan of the band, you gotta see this thing.”

Terrasite crushed Billboard charts upon its first week of release, earning the #2 position on the Current Hard Music Albums chart, #3 on the Current Independent Albums chart, #4 on the Rock Albums chart and more and appeared on multiple Year End List both stateside and abroad.
Terrasite features artwork by longtime collaborator Wes Benscoter (Vader, Kreator, Bloodbath, Hypocrisy), was produced by Dave Otero (Cephalic Carnage, Allegaeon), and includes Dis Pater of Midnight Odyssey handling piano and synths.
UK death metal outfit INGESTED will return to North America this Fall on a month-long headlining tour. Evisceratour 2025 runs from November 6th in Fresno, California through December 6th in Pomona, California. Support will be provided by Ov Sulfur, Cell, and more still to be announced.
Drummer Lyn Jeffs comments, “It’s been a long time coming, but we’re beyond ready to tear through the US and Canada once again on our first headlining tour in two years on Evisceratour 2025.
