CARCASS – Extreme Metal Legends Headlining DAMNATION FESTIVAL 2013

As reported by Damnation Festival:

English Extreme Metal legends CARCASS will return to headline the ninth Damnation Festival for their only UK appearance following the release of their first album in 17 years.

The Death and Grind standard bearers have promised another historic set which will feature cult classics alongside unexpected old gems and brand new material when they take the stage at Leeds University Union on Saturday, November 2, 2013.

And after helping to sell out Damnation Festival in advance back in 2008, guitarist Bill Steer is looking forward to performing to a packed house on their return to the event.

He said: “We’re very excited about the prospect of returning to Damnation Festival this year.

“Our appearance there in 2008 was a major highlight for us and this time around, people can expect to hear a fairly different Carcass set.

“The old favourites will be in there, of course, but we’re also planning to play a couple of the less obvious tracks from our past, as well as songs from the album we’ve just completed. Join us!”

With 22 more bands to be announced across three stages, festival director Gavin McInally, said fans can look forward to the melting pot of diverse styles of music Damnation Festival is known for from Black Metal to Post-Rock.

He added: “It was a coup to land the first UK Carcass show in 13 years in 2008 when fans snapped up every ticket going before we made it to the day itself and it’s another coup having the band return following the release of their first new album in 17 years.

“But even with the mighty Carcass topping the bill, we won’t be satisfied until we’ve pieced together a more challenging and brilliant day of music than the eight successful years we’ve already had the pleasure of hosting, so expect a lot more to come from 2013.”

Tickets for Damnation Festival 2013 are on sale now and will be held at last year’s price of £32 for a limited period.

PANZERCHRIST – Announce New Album “The 7th Offensive”

Danish Death Metal mercenaries PANZERCHRIST are releasing their seventh album, aptly entitled The 7th Offensive on July 15th on Listenable following their previous and highly – acclaimed 2011 release, Regiment Ragnarok.

PANZERCHRIST used three different studio to complete their new assault. Guitars and bass were recorded in the Igloo by HR Swan, drums were recorded at AMP studio by Jens Förster and Markus Ziemer and vocals and the final mix were done in Death Island Studio with engineer Marco Angioni.

Although very extreme musically on a constant basis, PANZERCHRIST have never quite done the same album twice. The 7th Offensive shows a slightly more melodic and evil approach to the guitars; enhancing the grey, sinister feel of a battlefield. The band’s intended bleak sound was without a doubt achieved. The album also sees PANZERCHRIST return to the ultra-guttural and pure death metal styled vocals.

Make no mistake, PANZERCHRIST ‘s new album retain the violence and über-brutality the band has been known for. As the band says, “THE WAR IS OVER, LETS START A NEW ONE , DEATH FOREVER PANZER!”

SPHERON – German Death Metallers Reveal Cover Art And Release Date For Debut Album

On July 5, 2013 the long-awaited debut album Ecstasy of God from Ludwigshafen, Germany-based Technical Death metallers SPHERON will be out on Apostasy Records.

This challenging and absorbing album was produced together with Christoph Brandes at the Iguana Studios (e.g. Necrophagist, Deadborn, Imperium Dekadenz, etc.). The breathtaking cover artwork was painted by no other than the famous artist Eliran Kantor (Eliran Kantor) who has already worked with bands like Testament, Hatebreed, Sodom and Atheist.

GRIMUS – New Jersey Brutal Death Metal Crew Drops Details Of Debut Full-Length

Almost three years after their pummeling Gutter Earth EP was inflicted upon the masses, cold-blooded Elizabeth, New Jersey-based Death Metal insurgents GRIMUS have completed their first proper full-length, Omnicide.

With its members all hailing from a plethora of Extreme Metal acts including Iberian Black Metal outfit Windfaerer, Metal Blade Tech/Death act Allegaeon and others, the members of GRIMUS are united in hatred for humankind, their output surging with guttural, cutting-edge Death Metal prowess, with monolithic slams and swells of the most vicious kind infiltrating their uncompromising low-end attack. These atrocious features are grippingly captured on the quintet’s debut full-length album, Omnicide. The term literally meaning the killing of everything is a testament to man’s inherent, bloodthirsty nature and audacity to alter his surroundings, through efficient forms of destruction. Paradoxically, mankind is willfully committing suicide in its attempt to become a godlike creator. This album is a soundtrack to the decimation of all that is known, “the age of none.”

A thirty-six minute onslaught of blasting and grooving barbarity, Omnicide was tracked and mixed by guitarist Marco Bobadilla at Crimson Recording and mastered by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Beneath the Massacre, Job For A Cowboy) at West West Side Music. GRIMUS will self-release Omnicide on June 25 2013.

The Omnicide album art was illustrated and designed by bassist Michael Goncalves.

THORNAFIRE – Signs With FDA Rekotz

FDA Rekotz is proud to announce the addition of Chilean death squad THORNAFIRE.

Offering a visceral and ruthless brand of Extreme Death Metal in the vein of early Sepultura, Death and Massacre, THORNAFIRE have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with through their intense live show and a trio of well-received albums. The band’s fourth full-length will be out in late 2013 on FDA Rekotz. Prepare yourselves for the coming onslaught of high-caliber death metal!

THORNAFIRE started out in 1998 by the hand of Víctor Mac-Namara with the sole intention of playing Death Metal. A year later two songs were recorded for the Granded for all Somberness demo. With that tape and a savage live show the band started to achieve a strong name in the local scene. After a series of line-up changes, an MCD entitled Mortus Tenebrae Surrectus was released in 2001, which received many good reviews from the local and international metal media. With that THORNAFIRE became one of the most promising Chilean Extreme Metal acts. The recording saw worldwide distribution via the tried and true methods of tape-trading and word of mouth.

THORNAFIRE began to gig and tour around Chile and into Bolivia and Argentina. In 2005, the band recorded their debut full-length, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation. The album stood out as a milestone in brutality and a masterpiece of hate. It also caught the attention of Incantation’s John McEntee, who signed THORNAFIRE to his label, Ibex Moon Records. The spring of 2007 saw the re-release and worldwide distribution of the debut and, in 2009 the band released Vorex Deconstrucción on Ibex Moon Records. A European invasion soon followed which saw the band appear alongside the likes of Master, Incantation, Deranged and many others at the Obscene Extreme Festival.

Since then, THORNAFIRE has shared stages with Slayer, Overkill, Dimmu Borgir, Motley Crue and several other notable acts. In 2012, bassist/vocalist Christian Argandoña joined the fold and Eclipse Nox Coagula was unleashed with critical acclaim and rabid reception from the band’s growing legion of fans. With a deal with FDA Rekotz in place, THORNAFIRE’s quest for global domination continues. Prepare yourselves.

TERMINATE: Chicago Death Horde Announces Lineup Change; Band On Tour Across Midwest/Western US Now

Following the release of their debut full-length Ascending to Red Heavens via Selfmadegod Records this Winter, Chicago Death Metal horde TERMINATE announces a pending change in the band’s lineup. In a recent statement the band collectively reported:

“We’re sorry to announce the departure of our bassist, Alfred Mulle. There is no ill-will on either end and it is simply a matter of divergent life paths that forces the split. We wish him luck, and encourage everybody to check out his excellent graphic design work through his company Demonic Designs. Alfred’s last show with us will be supporting Wolvhammer and Glorior Belli in Chicago, on May 17th, along with Chicago Black Metal assassins FIN. We will announce a replacement shortly.”

After kicking off last night in Des Moines, Iowa, the current TERMINATE lineup is currently out on the road brutalizing the Midwest and West Coast on their Spring Tour in support of Ascending to Red Heavens. The ongoing attack itinerary is posted below.

TERMINATE’s fatal Death Metal attack crushes with an energetic, distortion-laden rush of primal, guttural bliss that fans of Dismember, Morbus Chron, Grave, Tribulation and most high-quality/low-end Stockholm-influenced brutality will no doubt embrace. DEALS DEATH – Part Ways With Bass Player Fredrik Ljung

Swedish Melodic Death metallers Deals Death made a public announcement; that after three years together they will be parting ways with bass player Fredrik Ljung.

The band comments: “There are times when everything is great, there are times when everything is bad. And there are times when different paths are chosen and you simply drift apart. Things like these are never easily decided and we thank our friend and bandmate for three awesome years and wish you a brilliant future.”

Fredrik made the following statement in response: “Dear friends and fans! As you now know, I have left the band. We saw it as the only way to go and I want to thank everyone who has gotten me and Deals Death to the point where we are at today. There are many reasons for my goodbye but I personally feel that I’m not on the same wavelength as the present band. And when you play in a band such as Deals Death you have to be able to give it your all! My last contribution with Deals Death is recorded and will be heard on the new album and I’m sure you´ll like it. I will continue with my other projects and have no intention to quit making music what so ever. I would also like to thank Deals Death for this wonderful time and great memories!”

Earlier this year Deals Death completed recording of their third full length album at Studio Abyss, Sweden, which is slated for a release later this year via Spinefarm Records. Full details are yet to be announced. The new record follows the highly acclaimed ‘Elite’ record which was released in 2012 also via Spinefarm Records.

Max Duhamel, drummer of the Montreal based Death Metal powerhouse, KATAKLYSM, is forced to take a break. He also won’t be performing on the new KATAKLYSM album.

Max has just released this official statement:

“Hello everyone, it is with an extremely heavy heart that I announce today that I will not be performing on the new KATAKLYSM album, I have been struggling with many personal issues the last year but lately, the main one has been alcohol, it’s been affecting my body in a very negative way to the point that when I came home after the EX DEO tour we just did, I tried to stop drinking for few days and it’s been very hard without having any withdrawals symptoms, I’ve also lost a lot of weight as some of you noticed recently and I’m not in good shape.

I’ve heard the new material my brothers have written and its truly incredible stuff, it’s really some of the best music the band has ever done but It’s going to be a very demanding album and my state of mind and body is not ready to confront this big task right now, I need to clean my body and my mind and come back focused to Kataklysm and I don’t know how long this will take…, the guys have reached out to help in any way they can which I can’t thank them enough.. I’m truely blessed to have them as a family, so as I start my road to recovery I send this message to all of you and thank you for all the support, It’s time to take my life in my hands and take responsibility, I will not be attending the JUNO AWARDS ceremony in two weeks for EX DEO nominations but i will close my contract with the shows in MAY that are left, EXTREMEFEST, BEASTIVAL in Germany and METALFEST CZECH REP. will be my last shows until I’m ready again to come back in full form, you guys deserve the best of me… see you later.” MAX

The new album Waiting for the End to Come is tentatively scheduled for a late 2013 / early 2014 release. The album will be recorded by guitarist Jean Francois Dagenais and mixed by Zeuss (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS).

“We as a band of brothers stand by Max’s decision to get better and to rise from his demons, we all have them, some of us try to hide them and pretend they don’t exist, some of us have the courage to confront them, Max has shown strength to fight his, we stand by him and hope that he returns home when he is ready, in the meanwhile I want everyone to know for those who haven’t seen the Iron will documentary, that this bands story is one of drama, pain and the long road to victory.

FDA REKOTZ is proud to announce the signing of American classic Death Metal clan DEROGATORY. Their debut, Above All Else will be released by the label later this year. Be prepared for some blastin’ Death Metal in the vein and with soul of the good old late 80s/early 90s American Death Metal elite.

DEROGATORY was formed in late 2010. Founding guitarists Christian Ordonez and Joe Viwatkurkul wrote all the early material with Chris later taking the position of changing the music style and riff writing even further with later material. Derogatory has seen three drummers come and go before current skin-basher Coyoton stepped in. Bassist Daniel Alonzo rounds out the lineup. In 2011, the band recorded a demo, which spread like wildfire around their native Los Angeles. Derogatory specializes in heavy music played with fury, speed and technicality.

World Management would like to announce that Morbid Angel has added three more shows in Brazil! May 21 – Opiniao Porto Alegre/RS (Urânio Produtora), May 23 – Cine Joia São Paulo/SP (Alive Concerts) and May 25 – Music Hall Curitiba/PR (Showmaster).

The band will also appear on April 13th at “The Metal Fest 2013” in Santiago, Chile and at “Hell and Heaven Metal Fest 2013” in Guadalajara, Mexico on Saturday May 18.

Morbid Angel will also appear at “Hellfest Open Air 2013” In Clisson, France on Saturday June 22, 2013.

Update From German Death Horde GOREGAST

FDA Rekotz artist GOREGAST has issued an update from their headquarters in Berlin. Firstly, GOREGAST recently commissioned Dedy Badic from Badic Art to design a new logo (posted above) that reflected the band’s return to their classic Death Metal roots. Badic is known for his illustrations for SKELETAL REMAINS, GRUESOME STUFF RELISH and many others.

In early May, GOREGAST will play three dates with Swe-death monsters PAGANIZER. The dates are posted below. After returning home from the three-day assault GOREGAST will enter Soundforge Studio in Berlin to record tracks for an upcoming 7-inch EP set for release in September on FDA Rekotz.

In 2011 GOREGAST released the full-length Desechos Humanos on FDA Rekotz. Album track Honor the Dead is streaming below:

Finnish Death Metal legion KALMAH are pleased to unleash their seventh studio offering this June. Titled Seventh Swamphony, the follow-up to 2010’s critically lauded 12 Gauge release, was recorded at Tico-Tico Studios in Kemi, Finland, and features eight tracks, mixed and mastered at Sweden’s Fascination Street Studios by Jens Bogren (Opeth, Soilwork, Paradise Lost, et al).

Comments lead guitarist Antti Kokko: “This album marks a milestone in our careers. We have a new keyboard player [Veli-Matti Kananen], which has given a fresh edge to the music, and we are of course very satisfied with the new material. That is why we wanted to give the songs the best possible chance without compromise; we feel very lucky and privileged to have worked with Jens Bogren.”

KALMAH’s latest production showcases the Oulu outfit’s signature brand of frantic, yet Melodic Death Metal tempered here by a new-found epic mournfulness.

KALMAH (“From The Grave” in Karelian) will play Dark River Festival in Finland this Summer, with more festival and UK touring plans to be announced. Stay tuned for details.

KATAKLYSM – ALBUM TITLE ANNOUNCED!

Montreal based Death Metal powerhouse, KATAKLYSM, have been quietly working on new material for the past several months for their long-awaited follow-up to the highly successful Heaven’s Venom album.

“Well it’s been a seriously busy ride since our last album Heaven’s Venom was released over 3 years ago,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “From a successful world headlining run, to Ozzfest, into a recap of our 20 years as band with the Iron Will DVD. We’ve been writing in a very humble fashion behind the scenes for the last six months. It’s time to take KATAKLYSM to higher levels and dig deep into our capacities as musicians and songwriters. We know exactly what we have to do, that’s why we have taken our time and why we’ll be taking most of the Summer to complete the new album. The record will deal lyrically with mortality and the purpose of ones being on this earth. The moment we are born we start to die. It’s a sort of deal we make with life, and with that I title the new KATAKLYSM album Waiting for the End to Come.”

Waiting for the End to Come is tentatively scheduled for a late 2013 / early 2014 release. The album will be recorded by guitarist Jean Francois Dagenais and mixed by Zeuss (SUFFOCATION, HATEBREED, ARSIS)

As previously reported, KATAKLYSM guitarist and longtime producer Jean-François Dagenais (MALEVOLENT CREATION, MISERY INDEX, DESPISED ICON, EX DEO) will once again helm the new record. The band is scheduled to enter JFD studio in Montreal and Dallas in June/July.
