New York, NY (January 28th, 2016) – The Dead Daisies are proud to announce the addition of Doug Aldrich to the lineup as lead guitarist of the powerful music collective. Guitarist Richard Fortus and keyboardist Dizzy Reed will be stepping aside to be a part of a momentous project in 2016.

Aldrich is currently in Nashville with the Daisies working with producer Marti Frederiksen (Aerosmith, Gavin Rossdale, Mötley Crüe, Buckcherry) on their follow-up to the album Revolución, released last year following the bands trip to Cuba, where the classic rock group were part of a cultural exchange as guests of the Cuban Ministry of Culture, Cuban Institute of Music and the Cuban Rock Agency. The still untitled album will be released globally on SPV Records later this year.

Aldrich joins bassist Marco Mendoza (Thin Lizzy, Whitesnake), guitarist David Lowy (MINK, Red Phoenix), John Corabi (Mötley Crüe, The Scream) on vocals and Brian Tichy (Ozzy Osbourne, Billy Idol) on drums.

“I’m very, very happy to join my friends Marco, Brian, John and David in the next chapter of The Dead Daisies,” proclaims Aldrich. “I love the band and I’m looking forward to getting busy on the new record. This band is bringing back a raw, back to the bones sound that a lot of groups go for but The Dead Daisies are looking to nail. At this point in time, we are looking to have a kick ass Rock ‘n’ Roll album in the can by spring 2016.”

Fortus couldn’t be happier, saying: “When we started speaking about finding someone to replace me, the first suggestion I had was Doug Aldrich. It doesn’t get any better than Doug in my book. I am so happy that he is able and willing to step in and take over. I think that it will elevate the band to the next level. Thanks to everyone that has supported the Daisies over the last couple of years. Stay tuned to see what they come up with next. I’m sure you won’t be disappointed!”

David Lowy, one of the original founders of The Dead Daisies said: “We’re really going to miss Richard and Dizzy. It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to write, record and perform with such talented world-class musicians and all-around great guys. I’ve personally learnt so much from both of them. We’re very excited to announce Doug Aldrich will be joining The Dead Daisies in the lead guitar role. Doug was Richard’s first pick to replace him. He’s a highly accomplished musician, performer and songwriter and we’re really looking forward to Doug joining us as the Dead Daisies adventure rolls on.”

Marco Mendoza couldn’t be more excited as well, of course: “Doug and I shared the stage for many years with Whitesnake and have been involved in many recording sessions and projects. He is a powerful guitar player and performer, can’t wait to bring him in on our next efforts in the studio and on the road. VIVA LA ROCK!”

Since exploding onto the scene in 2013, The Dead Daisies have taken the Classic Rock world by storm, releasing two albums to date & touring with the biggest names in rock including: ZZ Top, Aerosmith, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Bad Company, Judas Priest, KISS and Def Leppard.

2015 was a banner year that saw the band release their 2nd album, make a historic visit to Cuba, join the line-up for some of the biggest European Rock Festivals including Download and Graspop, tour around the globe with Whitesnake and KISS as well as play a sold out triumphant headline show in Paris. The band then returned to the UK for the first time in two years to play a series of Sold Out club shows, including the special guest slot at Planet Rock Stock in Wales.

With the year having just started, The Dead Daisies are well underway to continue to rewrite the book on Classic Rock. With a killer new album in the works, massive touring being booked and fueled by their ever-growing fan base, the band is showing no signs of letting up.

I’ve chosen this music video (below) to celebrate David Bowie, due to it’s fun side of both he and the great Mick Jagger. It is obvious neither Bowie or Jagger could give a rat’s ass about being too serious in this music video and that is what Rock ‘N Roll is truly about. God Bless David Bowie.

EYE OF SOLITUDE Release Charity Single – “Lugubrious Valedictory”

The following message from Kaotoxin Records details charity single’s release:

During the night of October 30, 32 people were killed and 179 wounded at a Metal gig at Colectiv club in Bucharest, Romania. The fire, the worst such incident in Romania in the last 20 years, occurred during a free Metal concert when the band’s pyrotechnics comprising of sparkler firework candles ignited the club’s flammable polyurethane acoustic foam, and the fire expanded very quickly. Most of the victims were poisoned with toxins released from the burning foam.

It’s no secret that both KAOTOXIN and EYE OF SOLITUDE have links with Romania. Kaotoxin staff member, DJ and host of KaosCast Radu C. was born in Romania and we’ve visited the country with him twice, making new friends each time. EYE OF SOLITUDE‘s mainman, Daniel N., was born in Romania too, and has strong connections with the Romanian scene having spent years in the country, played in many Romanian bands and still playing Romanian gigs as often as possible.

Right after the tragedy, Daniel N. decided EYE OF SOLITUDE would release a digital single to raise funds for the families of the ones who sadly perished in this tragic event.

This goes out to every Metalhead around: we in EYE OF SOLITUDE would like to show our support and solidarity to the victims in the Colectiv club fire and their families. Amongst them there were old friends, people who have fought to rescue those trapped inside that burning inferno; heroes who now have left behind devastated families, wives, husbands, sons and daughters.

This isn’t media bullshit; this is a wake up and a call to solidarity. This is a moment when everyone should turn their heads around and try to imagine the living Hell these heroes went through to save others. We would like to appeal to all of you guys and help us help the families in those in need right now.

With this charity release we hope to collect as much as possible from you guys and send the money directly to the families of those who perished Friday October 30th, 2015 night. I have seen that some people are commenting with their disappointment that a few of the “so called” supergroups are not playing live and that this somehow diminishes the relevance or quality of these releases. A lot of negative vibes and preconceived notions are made before a note of music has even been released. This is not a new issue to us and we of course respect people’s opinions, but in these times of social media where direct communication to the fans is available, I thought I’d make a direct statement to explain how we, Frontiers see things.

Since the moment I put the label together, I saw this as one of the most exciting jobs that I could ever have imagined in my life. It was something that for years I was only able to dream of. The idea of working with the artists that for years and years I had been listening to on record was truly exciting. And after almost 20 years (yes, next year Frontiers will turn 20!), I think I have not lost one ounce of that initial enthusiasm! I was, and still am primarily a MUSIC fan and I have always interpreted my role as A&R director of Frontiers in a creative way. I have always been relentless in trying to find and expose GOOD MUSIC to the fans. And considering that when I started the label a lot of the classic bands that I grew up with were disbanded or not active, I think that I have really helped in creating some interesting pieces of music to fill the void left by those legends.

Since the days where – together with artists like Kevin Chalfant, Mark Mangold, Jim Peterik, Billy Greer or Tony Harnell to name a few – we created the concepts of Two Fires, The Sign, Seventh Key, Pride of Lions and Starbreaker, Frontiers has been the “brain” behind these new band projects which were greeted warmly by the public and the media. Now as to WHY those bands have never played live? Well to begin with it is not completely true that none of these projects have ever played live. In fact, The Sign, Two Fires, Seventh Key, The Magnificent, W.E.T, Angelica, ISSA, and I am certainly forgetting others, have all played live shows. And also, it needs to be said that there is nothing in principle that prevents these bands from playing live. In most cases, unfortunately this has to do with a lack of interest from tour promoters and/or with scheduling conflicts among the members or even certain contractual obligations that the artists might have to their main band. However, I am pleased to say that there will be more and more efforts from our side to bring these projects to life on the stage moving forward – and you will soon see what I mean.

So, yes, I think I am creative and again, what still preoccupies me the most, after all these years, is to keep releasing GREAT records that keep Classic Rock, Melodic Rock, and Hard Rock alive and well with a constant flow of quality releases. This – I think – allows everyone to keep ENJOYING new and exciting music while allowing me to keep building on my personal dreams thanks to the art, talent and skill of all these amazing musicians we are so fortunate to work with. Just think about all the amazing records from the likes of ALLEN LANDE, FROM THE INSIDE, ISSA, KHYMERA, KISKE SOMERVILLE, PLACE VENDOME, FIRST SIGNAL, SUNSTORM, VERTIGO and all the others…

I really hope that people can welcome with open arms the music we release and give it a fair chance, regardless of who is involved, if the artist is touring, etc. Moreover I wish to say one final thing: If it wasn’t for some of those projects, we would have had a lot more difficulties in launching new talents. The most shining example is probably W.E.T, whose success immensely helped the exposure for two of the most EXCITING new bands we have on the roster, Eclipse (Sweden) and Work of Art. But, I could obviously mention Revolution Saints for Alessandro Del Vecchio, Allen Lande for Magnus Karlsson, Starbreaker for Fabrizio Grossi, Find Me for Daniel Flores, and of course all the work we did during the years with Dennis Ward and so on. These groups are also a really important tool to expose new songwriters, producers and real musical talents to the world.

Talking about new bands, you may have noticed some “young blood” coming in. I am very proud of these new guys and I hope you will follow and give them a chance, exactly in the same way you would do with a new Whitesnake or Journey record.

X GUITARIST – BILLY ZOOM – DIAGNOSED WITH BLADDER CANCER

REPLACEMENT TO BE NAMED FOR JULY – AUGUST DATES SO X CAN CONTINUE WITH THE TOUR IN SUPPORT OF ZOOM

(Los Angeles, CA) Legendary guitarist, punk legend, and all-around nice guy, Billy Zoom, has been diagnosed with cancer. Zoom was given the news that he has an aggressive form of bladder cancer and immediate treatment is necessary to fight the disease. The 67-year-old musician/producer/electronics wiz will begin chemo treatment next week.

In early 2010, Zoom revealed that he had been successfully treated for prostate cancer. After undergoing a radical prostatectomy, the cancer was caught in its early stages and he was given the ‘all clear’.

X and Zoom are committed to this weekend’s 4-album play shows at Orange County’s The Observatory where Billy will join his longtime bandmates on stage to play songs from his iconic bands first four albums. Joining X for these shows will be The Blasters and Mike Watt.

X will continue with their previously announced July and August mid-west and east coast tour dates as planned in support of Billy and his family. A replacement for Zoom will be announced shortly.

X and manager, Mike Rouse, have begun a fund to help Zoom with his upcoming medical costs.

Eddie Vedder Joins Band Onstage at Last Show … for Now

Eddie Spaghetti, front man for Seattle’s ass-kicking saviors of rock and roll, the Supersuckers, has been diagnosed with Stage 3 oropharynx cancer.

In order for Eddie to undergo immediate surgery and radiation treatment, the band has cancelled its upcoming European tour and also postponed work on the follow-up to last year’s Get the Hell.

Within hours of learning this news, friends of the Supersuckers responded in the ass-kickin’, never-say-die manner you’d expect from fans of “the Greatest Rock and Roll Band in the World,” by raising more than $20,000 in the first 24 hours of the campaign to Support Eddie Spaghetti’s Cancer Fight.

“I have been blown away by the incredible generosity of friends and strangers,” says Eddie. “It shows you that even the darkest times can offer some light, some hope. Thanks everyone.”

The Supersuckers played its last show (for now) on Thursday, June 18 to a packed house at Seattle’s Tractor Tavern. Among the evening’s highlights was a performance of the Ramones’ “I Believe in Miracles,” featuring surprise guests Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam and Blind Marky Felchtone from Zeke.

“Now apparently the battle begins,” adds Eddie. “Friday I went in for my pre-op physical (I’m pretty sure I got a D+) and then surgery is slated for this week … It’s weird because I feel fine right now, but I know that I’m not fine and need to go through all this crap to get better.”

On This Day In METAL History – May 20th… KISS “Unmasked” Was Released To The World

On May 20th, 1980 – KISS released their eighth studio album: Unmasked. Shocking Fact Alert #1: Although not credited, the drummer for this entire album was Anton Fig and not Peter Criss. Now that the shock has hopefully subsided, onwards we go. Paul Stanley, Gene Simmons and Ace Frehley do play on every song on Unmasked. I just had to reinforce that info, just in case someone was wondering and started to panic. (I pause to laugh and quickly regain control).

This album was released via Casablanca Records, with a large poster inserted inside the album’s jacket. My two favorite songs from this album are: Is That You? and What Makes The World Go ‘Round. I even dig the song Shandi. Truth be told, I really like this KISS album and have no problem recommending it to anyone. This isn’t the greatest KISS album ever and it isn’t the worst either. The Elder will always be the freaking worst KISS album ever recorded; that is a fact and tell ’em Stone says so.

Above: The front cover to my KISS Unmasked album. Some years ago I had flood waters destroy my record collection, save for a dozen or so. Yes, that life event super-sucked infected goat testicles. However, this album was one that was elevated above the water. Go figure.

My first copy of Unmasked was an 8-track version. I bought this 8-track, with loot from my mother, from a (now defunct) department store called Caldor. Around 1983, I traded my Billy Squier Emotions In Motion vinyl for a used copy of Unmasked on vinyl, while in high school. A decent trade, I believe. Long ago trade aside, Billy Squier is alright in my Metal book. The 8-track and 8-track player I had are long gone. That kinda sucks. Some years ago, I finally upgraded to CD, with Unmasked. Why it took me so long to upgrade Unmasked to CD? I just don’t know, go figure.

Shocking Fact Alert #2: Did you know that the Village People were signed to Casablanca Records too? KISS and The Village People shared the same record label. That should keep you up at night tossing and turning. WTF!?

This KISS album has always reminded me of Summer. Once again, I just don’t know, go figure. I have traded away many, many terrific items, throughout the years. My vinyl of Unmasked and its poster I could never think of parting with. Then again, who knows? Go figure and Metal be thy name. – Stone

SAN FRANCISCO, May 6, 2015 – Faith No More, who release Sol Invictus, their first new album in eighteen years, on May 18, will be live streaming their May 8 concert from Detroit via Yahoo! Live at 9:15 pm eastern: https://bit.ly/1bQZvmu.

The show, which will be broadcast from The Fillmore, is one of the band’s first North American performances since 2010 and is part of a string of sold out dates by the Bay Area outfit. Faith No More returns to North America in late July with a dozen additional dates including an August 5 performance at Madison Square Garden and a headlining spot at Heavy Montreal on August 8. Bumbershoot recently announced Faith No More as one of the headliners of the venerable Seattle festival.

Sol Invictus will be streaming in its entirety via NPR on Monday, May 11, with Pandora giving listeners an early listen as of May 13. Exclaim will be streaming the album for Canada. The band performs on The Tonight Show on May 13, with the late night TV appearance being Faith No More’s first since 1995.

(Los Angeles – April, 2015) Phil Collen, lead guitarist of Def Leppard, announces the formation and release of his new blues based music project, DELTA DEEP, coming this summer. Collen recorded the mix of original and hand-picked cover tracks with fellow DELTA DEEP bandmates Debbi Blackwell-Cook (back-up vocalist for such artists as Michael Buble & Luther Vandross), Forrest Robinson (drummer for India.Arie, Joe Sample & The Crusaders, TLC), and Robert DeLeo (bassist for Stone Temple Pilots). Their self-titled debut album will be released on June 23, 2015 on Mailboat Records and also features special guest appearances by Def Leppard vocalists Joe Elliott, Whitesnake’s David Coverdale, Sex Pistols/MANRAZE drummer Paul Cook, and GIRL/MANRAZE bassist, Simon Laffy.

Collen initially started DELTA DEEP in 2012 after jamming at home over the course of a year with friend and relative, Debbi Blackwell-Cook (Blackwell-Cook is the Godmother of Collen’s wife, Helen). What started as a casual pairing singing Motown and classic blues staples while Debbi frequently visited Collen’s home quickly turned into much more. Collen, Helen, and Debbi began writing original music which Collen and Debbi recorded in Collen’s home studio.

Later that year, a chance meeting re-acquainted Collen with Memphis native and enigmatic heavy metal, jazz, & r-n-b drummer Forrest Robinson. A friend suggested giving STP bassist Robert DeLeo a call. Sharing a loving affinity for soul, funk and the blues, DeLeo was the perfect fit. According to Collen, “We really wanted Robert in this band. He had the added firepower of being the premiere pioneer and most ‘badassed bass player’ to come out of the alternative rock explosion.”

The best description of DELTA DEEP, a multi-racial band, has been “Aretha and Tina in their prime singing over early Zeppelin”. Original song and lead off single “Bang The Lid introduces the musical synchronicity of Collen, Blackwell-Cook, DeLeo, & Robinson. Blackwell-Cook also duets with Collen on the album tracks as well as with featured vocalists Def Leppard’s Joe Elliott–Mistreated and Whitesnake’s David Coverdale–Private Number. Legendary Sex Pistol’s punk drummer Paul Cook and Collen’s former bandmate from GIRL bass player Simon Laffy” guest on the classic cover Black Coffee. Guesting on the Delta Deep original song, “Burnt Sally” is keyboardist, CJ Vanston (Tina Turner, Toto, Joe Cocker, Carol King) adding to the soulful tune on the Hammond 3 Organ.

Collen is widely known to millions of rock ‘n roll fans for his iconic albums with Def Leppard. When asked what made him decide to do a blues project Collen responded, “Blues was created out of something completely different from what we hear today. I grew up listening to rock music but then I found out it was all based on blues. Jimmy Page, Keith Richards, Ritchie Blackmore, Jimi Hendrix, all of those guys….they got it from the blues. When I hear Debbi sing, I can hear the pain. She’s an incredibly beautiful 62-year-old black woman who has been through things and she can sing through her pain. Not everyone can do that and not everyone sounds like Debbi.”

While many artists aim to make their mark by creating new genres or introducing their own new versions of music, Collen and DELTA DEEP melded their blues inspirations with who they are as artists and are unleashing that expression onto the world.

OUTLAWS & MOONSHINE – New Southern Rock Band To Release Debut Single

JEFF BECK LIVE+ New Live Album Spanning The Legendary Guitarist’s Vast and Varied Career, Along With Two New Studio Tracks, Available May 5th

Fans can relive Beck’s thrilling guitar gymnastics from those shows with a new live album that touches on key eras from the legendary artist’s influential career. The album captures a snapshot of Jeff’s work in 2014, with two newly recorded studio tracks also included, his first new music since 2010’s Grammy®-winning Emotion & Commotion.

Packed with more than an hour of music, JEFF BECK LIVE+ will be available from Atco Records, an imprint of Rhino Entertainment, on May 5 for a list price of $18.98 (CD) and will also be available digitally. The album will arrive as Beck is in the midst of an East Coast solo tour, which includes newly added dates in May. This trek also features make-up dates from the same ZZ TOP tour this album was recorded during, before it was cut short due to an injury to ZZ TOP bassist Dusty Hill.

The 14 live performances on JEFF BECK LIVE+ were recorded at multiple venues in 2014 and feature Beck backed by his band: vocalist Jimmy Hall, bassist Rhonda Smith, drummer Jonathan Joseph and guitarist Nicolas Meier. The quintet explored Beck’s vast catalog—which stretches across five decades—with performances of “Morning Dew” (from Truth, 1968), “Superstition” (from Beck, Bogert, Appice, 1973), “Big Block” (from Jeff Beck’s Guitar Shop, 1989), as well as two Grammy-winning tracks: his cover of the Beatles’ “A Day In The Life” and “Hammerhead.”

LIVE + concludes with two new studio tracks: “Tribal” and “My Tiled White Floor,” with guest vocals from Ruth Lorenzo and Veronica Bellino, respectively. These aggressive new songs mark Beck’s first studio recordings since 2010 and show a stark departure from the sound on his previous album as the guitarist continues to push the envelope of musical innovation, just as he has his entire career. These tracks are sure to whet the appetite of Beck fans as the guitarist prepares his 17th studio album, which is expected later this year.

Throughout his career, Beck has also proven to be a brilliant interpreter of other’s songs. This live album doesn’t disappoint with covers of “Danny Boy,” Jimi Hendrix’s “Little Wing,” Mahavishnu Orchestra’s “You Know You Know,” and Sam Cooke’s “A Change Is Gonna Come.”

Beck’s career took off in the mid-1960s, after replacing Eric Clapton as lead guitarist for The Yardbirds on the recommendation of his friend Jimmy Page. He played on several of the rock group’s hits, such as “Heart Full of Soul,” “Shapes of Things” and “Over Under Sideways Down.” Beck has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice: once with The Yardbirds in 1992 and again as a solo artist in 2009. He has won numerous Grammy Awards, including two in 2011.

FOREVER STILL – RELEASE NEW SINGLE “AWAKE THE FIRE” AND LET FANS PAY WHAT THEY WANT FOR IT

Independent female fronted Rock band Forever Still have released a new single called “Awake the Fire”. The single is the first single from their upcoming EP “Save Me”. The “Save Me” EP is the part two of three digital EPs that will eventually end up as one physical full length album later in 2015. The single can be downloaded directly from the band’s website: www.foreverstill.dk where the band lets their fans pay what they want for it.

“We believe that music should be available to everyone – both those who are broke, and those who have a little extra to spare in support of the artists they love” Maja Schønning explains. We’ve put a lot of time and effort into this song, so if people want to give us some help for the time and effort, we are very grateful! But if they don’t have any money right now, they can take it, share it and if they love it, come back and kick in later.

The EP is recorded, mixed and mastered in Copenhagen by band member Mikkel Haastrup in the band’s own studio. Mikkel is a trained sound engineer by Flemming ‘Metallica’ Rasmussen. “We like our music and everything surrounding it to be 100% honest and we felt the only way we could achieve that was by doing everything ourselves” says Mikkel.

The upcoming EP is Part 2 of the band’s debut album which is a concept album about a suppressed individual struggling through depression, anxiety, and worthlessness and getting stronger in the process. “The songs are all very raw, emotional and somewhat imperfect, because we wanted it to sound like someone falling apart and trying to put the pieces back together” says Maja.

Although not as commercial successful and well-known as a lot of their peers, STARZ has proven to be a hugely influential band for those musicians who were aware of them. Several massively successful U.S. artists, like Cinderella, Bon Jovi, Poison, Twisted Sister and Motley Crue cite STARZ as a primary influence. Magazines like Kerrang! and Hit Parader have included STARZ albums on lists of the most important heavy metal albums of all-time!

All together STARZ recorded four studio albums in the second half of the 70’s: “Starz”, “Violation”, “Attention Shoppers” and “Coliseum Rock” and gathered critical acclaim with their ability to mesh the smooth with the hard. “We loved pop melodies,” admits guitarist Richie Ranno, “and we also loved heavy guitars. We liked to combine hooks with a harder edge. Our singer Michael Lee Smith had a great sense of melody. In the course of four albums, we only used orchestrations or keyboards once, preferring to mix heavy rock productions with melodic overtones.”

STARZ are now returning with a lineup featuring original members Richie Ranno on guitars, Michael Lee Smith on vocals, Joe X Dube on drums and new faces George DiAna on bass and Alex Kane on guitar.

“We are absolutely psyched to be writing and recording an album of new STARZ songs for the Frontiers Label. Teen Rock sensation, vocalist and songwriter DIAMANTE, will be supporting the legendary David Coverdale and his spectacular band WHITESNAKE, on select U.S. tour dates, this June. Whitesnake will be embarking on The Purple Tour, in support of their new studio release: The Purple Album. Diamante will be touring in support of her forthcoming EP: Dirty Blonde.
