GLORIOR BELLI: Live Footage From Messe des Morts Festival Posted

Posted in Black Metal, black metal videos, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on December 21, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

Last month, French Black Metal enigmas GLORIOR BELLI made their first ever North American appearance at Montreal’s Messe des Morts festival. The ceremony took place at Coop Katacombes on November 25 and 26 and included live rituals from some of black metal’s most esteemed creators.

Commented vocalist/guitarist Julien of the experience: “Thanks to [fest organizer] Martin [Marcotte; Sepulchral Productions] and the rest of the crew, we had the chance to play in front of an enthusiastic audience in Montréal for the first edition of Messe des Morts festival and share the stage with great local acts as well as international bands such as Absu, Inquisition and Angantyr. It sure does feel different than in Europe, for there is a definite hunger for our art and it’s an actual pleasure to bring the fire that we craft in good old Europe to the new continent and share it with the few, the extraordinary.”

Check out live footage of the band at THIS LOCATION.

GLORIOR BELLI released their fourth full-length, The Great Southern Darkness, earlier this Fall via Metal Blade Records which continues to reap critical adoration from fans and critics alike.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS – Headlining Dates Begin Tonight, Nonstop Touring For Entire First Quarter Of 2012 Confirmed

Posted in Black Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on December 12, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

Having just completed a massive thirty-six date North American tour supporting Mayhem, the ABIGAIL WIILIAMS  touring machine will continue on the road this week for six headlining dates, beginning in Wilmington, Delaware tonight. Taking only a few weeks off after this run of dates, ABIGAIL WILLIAMS hit the road on another set of headlining performances on their way to provide direct support for Dark Funeral’s North American assault engulfing all of February, immediately followed by a full tour with Deicide through the end of March! A full list of tour dates is posted below.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS‘ massive ongoing tour schedule is to pummel audiences with new material from the band’s new album, Becoming. Confirmed for release in North America on January 24, 2012, once again on Candlelight Records. The band’s third full-length Becoming is already stirring interest in the Metal media; its organic, churning tracks offering some stark contrast to previous ABIGAIL WILLIAMS releases. The first single from Becoming, “Ascension Sickness,” in its second week at radio has already broken the top 20 on CMJ (on a 11-minute single!). The track continues to get heavy requests and plays nationwide as the track continues to infect the masses. Stream “Ascension Sickness” right here.

Clocking in at nearly an hour in length, Becoming ushers in a provocative new chapter for the adventurous band. Containing six vast tracks, truly the band’s most expressive and complicated to date, Becoming was recorded in various warehouses throughout Los Angeles, with the lineup for the album including returning guitarist Ian Jekelis, studio drummer Zach Gibson (ex-The Black Dahlia Murder) and as always, vocalist/guitarist Ken Sorceron, who handled all mixing, mastering, production and engineering duties. View the cover art by infamous graphic artist Metastazis (Morbid Angel, Watain, Ulver, Nachtmystium, etc.) and more at this location. Preorders for the record are available from Candlelight.

IRDORATH signs with Massacre Records:

The history of the Thrash/Black Metal band started in 2005, when Markus (guitar) and three other musicians formed the band IRDORATH. The first demo “Erwachen” and the first album “Goetterdaemmerung” were recorded and the first gigs were played.
During the work on the second album some lineup changes happened. Since then, Thomas is playing the drums and Esche is playing the rhythm guitar.

The second album “Dekonstrukteur Des Fleisches” was recorded at the “Soundtempel – Studio” and was produced by Stefan Traunmueller. After finishing the record the singer and the bassist left the band.

Markus took over the singing part in addition to the lead guitar and Mario joined the band as the new bassist. Now the lineup is complete again and stronger than ever.

“Dekonstrunkteur Des Fleisches” is going to be released in late January 2012!

GLORIOR BELLI: Full Album Stream Courtesy Of Decibelmagazine.com – From September 19th To September 26th, 2011

Posted in Black Metal, black metal albums, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , on September 19, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

Beginning today, Decibelmagazine.com will stream GLORIOR BELLI’s upcoming new full-length, The Great Southern Darkness, in its entirety! The stream will run for one week (September 19 – September 26) before its official North American release through Metal Blade Records on September 27, 2011.

Check the record out in full at THIS LOCATION.

Their fourth full-length in a catalog of blackened enormity, The Great Southern Darkness offers up 11 tracks that magnify GLORIOR BELLI‘s finest qualities. Said Revolver in an advance review of the record: “The album combines vicious black-metal riffery with deep New Orleans stoner grooves to create a metal monolith that is equal parts northern blaze and southern trendkill.” Added American Aftermath: “Extraordinary mesmerizing, mind-blowing, use whatever terms you want, this is fantastic.” Sea Of Tranquility agreed calling it: “…a round of French avant-garde Metal, with the same sort of dissonant intensity of Deathspell Omega, but – and this is, the interesting part – with very clear influences from Southern Metal, Sludge Metal and Post-Metal,” while Infernal Masquerade noted simply: “If you are looking for a great BM release that is different and entertaining, be sure to get this album.”

Formed in the suburbs of Paris during the close of 2002, GLORIOR BELLI has garnered a stellar reputation in the extreme music community for mixing desert rock textures with the brutal, ominous, doom-laden vibe typical of Black Metal. The band was recently added to Montreal’s Messe des Morts festival. The festival is set to take place in Saint-Laurent, QC at Coop Katacombes on November 25 and 26. Other bands on the bill include Inquisition, Absu, Forteresse and more! This will mark GLORIOR BELLI‘s first ever North American appearance. For further info, point your browser HERE.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will begin recording their third full-length album today, (September 15, 2011).  The process begins in the band’s new home of Southern California as the band enter Keene Machine Studios with The Faceless’ Michael Keene and band frontman Ken Sorceron engineering. Former ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and Black Dahlia Murder drummer Zach Gibson will be playing on the album, as previous band mate Ken Bedene focuses on The Aborted.

“We are very excited to announce the start of drum tracking for our third full-length. Drummer Zach Gibson will be behind the kit on this record, which is exciting for us because we have not recorded with him since the Legend EP,” states Sorceron. Having recently returned from a short ten date regional tour tightening up their new five-piece line-up, the band’s ranks and sound continue to evolve and this third effort is no different. “Expect some interesting twists and turns once again with this album as we plan to double track some of the drums and some of the compositions are quite lengthy, one even reaching the 15-minute plus range. This will prove to be our most epic material to date,” teases Sorceron as to the direction of the new material. “We plan to video our progress and upload video blogs as we go.”

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will continue recording the new album over the next month, set for completion in late October before embarking on their previously announced North American tour supporting Norway’s legendary Mayhem. The new album has an anticipated January release, followed by additional U.S. tours supporting Dark Funeral and then Deicide.

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS – September Live Appearances:

9/22/2011 Whisky Richards – Santa Barbara, CA

9/23/2011 House of Blues – West Hollywood, CA w/ Morbid Angel

Stay tuned for more updates on ABIGAIL WILLIAMS as the record takes shape and as they hit the road on a massive tour schedule, over the next 6 months and onward.

GRAVEWORM – TRACKLIST AND ARTWORK OF NEW ALBUM “FRAGMENTS OF DEATH” ANNOUNCED

Posted in Black Metal, Extreme Metal, gothic metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , , on September 4, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

GRAVEWORM are back – and almost back to the roots! The Italian dark metal outfit delivers once again a melodic, mystic and dark masterpiece. The sequel to the successful “Diabolical Figures” album from 2009 will be called: “Fragments of Death”.

Now, the band announced the tracklist and the artwork of the upcoming album:

01. Insomnia
02. Only Death In Our Wake
03. Absence Of Faith
04. Living Nightmare
05. The World Will Die In Flames
06. 不安の中で (Anxiety)
07. See No Future
08. The Prophecy
09. Remembrance
10. Old Forgotten Song
11. Where Angels Do Not Fly

BONUS TRACK:
12. Awake

Stephano Fiori (vocalist) commended the new album:

“For me, the cover artwork reflects exactly the lyrics. The album generally deals with the topic of death. So the fragments are pieces of the puzzle of death. Each one of the songs represents a way to die. For example, song 6 is about the happenings in Japan. Other songs are about war, which sadly still exists in this world these days. We’re all influenced by all of these proceedings. Be it that you’re confronted with them yourself, you know someone who is, or you see it in the media. The angel of death on the cover is made of pieces of the puzzle, the so-called elements of death…”

Cover artist Daniel Hofer states:

“When the band presented the new album’s title and the contentual orientation to me, a concrete picture came to my mind quite quickly. An angel of death, rising from one dimension and returning to his former strength. The ´fragments´of this angel of death are both depicted as shards and pieces of a puzzle – this image can be found throughout the whole booklet. The basic idea for the cover can be transferred to the band’s musical return to their roots and can be compared to the quite well-behaved angel that could be seen on the (N)Utopia cover who returns now as a corrupted messenger of death. After “Diabolical Figures”, it was a very nice and productive cooperation again and I’m happy that the band agreed on me as the designer once more.”

“Fragments Of Death” will be out at October, 21, 2011 via Nuclear Blast.

VREID: Issue 2011 Tour Update

Norwegian Black Metallers, VREID, kicked off the Black Path Of America Tour 2011 last week in Toronto and though their arrival was met with a series of weather calamities and one canceled show in NYC due to the prospective threat of Hurricane Irene, the band soldiers on.

Commented bassist Hváll: “Our North America tour has been filled with action so far. An earthquake upon arrival, tornadoes as we entered Toronto and then Irene came and shut down our New York show. Mother earth has unleashed her wrath upon us this time around. We are extremely disappointed that our New York show got canceled, but be sure that VREID will return. We kicked ass in Toronto and had a great show; next up was Montreal which was massive. An absolutely fantastic show in all ways. The audience of Montreal has to be one of the most dedicated on this planet. Then we hit Kingston, New York. It was good to see people ignoring the rain and fear of Irene, to come to The Basement to rock like a hurricane. Now we are in Cleveland and ready to give  a massive dose of Norwegian Metal at Peabody’s. We hope the upcoming  shows will continue in the same good way as the first three. The audience in North America has once again shown their intense dedication, which makes these shows a blast for us. See you soon.”

GLORIOR BELLI: Band Issues The Great Southern Darkness Video Teaser

Posted in Black Metal, Extreme Metal, extreme music, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , , on August 22, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

French Black Metal goliaths, GLORIOR BELLI, recently issued a video teaser for upcoming new full-length, The Great Southern Darkness. Check it out now at Revolvermag.com.

The Great Southern Darkness offers up 11 tracks that magnify  GLORIOR BELLI‘s finest qualities: Debilitatingly fast, yet simultaneously dark and swampy with all the Americana/Stoner/Blues elements the band and their fans have come to embrace. Said Revolver in an advance review of the record: “The album combines vicious Black Metal riffery with deep New Orleans Stoner grooves to create a Metal monolith that is equal parts northern blaze and southern trendkill.”

Formed in the suburbs of Paris during the close of 2002, what began as a noxious duo soon became an untamable beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge. Lyrics and themes explored throughout the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebel-ism and a sense of poetry. Today, the name GLORIOR BELLI has garnered a stellar reputation in the Extreme music community for mixing desert rock textures with the brutal, ominous, doom-laden vibe typical of Black Metal. But don’t bother trying to restrain that which cannot be confined, for this is merely the greatest curse of the cosmic scheme.

The Great Southern Darkness is scheduled for a North America release on September 27, 2011 via Metal Blade Records.

Check out “Secret Ride To Rebellion” at the band’s official landing page, where you will also find pre-order details, HERE.

GLORIOR BELLI: French Black Metal Collective Premiere New Track From “The Great Southern Darkness”

French Black Metal collective, GLORIOR BELLI, are pleased to unveil the first single, “Secret Ride To Rebellion,” off their upcoming new full-length, The Great Southern Darkness. Scheduled for a North America release on September 27, 2011 via Metal Blade Records, the record finds the band at their most ravaging.

Comments vocalist/guitarist Julien of the tune: “‘Secret Ride To Rebellion’ begins furiously with the right mix of blackened tremolos, catchy melodies and wicked words. Then slowly, the track reaches a frenzy point over the last minutes of dark incantations. Sorry pal, you’ve just been exposed to the black light and there’s no return from there!”

Check out “Secret Ride To Rebellion,” at the band’s official landing page, where you will also find pre-order details, HERE.

The Great Southern Darkness features 11 tracks that magnify all the best elements of GLORIOR BELLI in a twisted, gritty, wholly unique way; dangerously violent and fast, yet simultaneously dark and swampy with all the Americana/Stoner/Blues elements the band has come to embrace. Formed in the suburbs of Paris during the close of 2002, what began as a noxious duo soon became an untamable beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge.

Lyrics and themes explored throughout the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebel-ism and a developed sense of poetry. Today, GLORIOR BELLI has garnered a stellar reputation in the Extreme Music community for mixing desert rock textures with the brutal, ominous, Doom-laden vibe typical of Black Metal. But don’t bother trying to restrain that which cannot be confined, for this is merely the greatest curse of the cosmic scheme.
