KATAKLYSM have revealed the alternate cover art for their highly anticipated upcoming release Waiting for the End to Come. The artwork by Eliran Kantor (TESTAMENT, HATEBREED) will be featured on the deluxe digipak and LP versions of their new album, which will be released on October 29th (North America) via Nuclear Blast.

The previously released cover by Peter Sallai (SABATON), will be featured on the standard jewel case and limited edition cassette tape versions.

“This other version of the new art made by Eliran Kantor represents a more iconic and epic approach,” commented vocalist Maurizio Iacono. “A man representing all of humanity, shaking the foundation of existence and ultimately beginning the process of destruction. The main foundation is depicted here as the famous KATAKLYSM ‘tribal sun’ logo. AMON AMARTH – The ninth studio album, Deceiver Of The Gods, from Sweden’s Melodic Death Metal Kings, AMON AMARTH, was released on June 25th of this year, via Metal Blade Records. Metal victory has once again been achieved for AMON AMARTH! Solid songs, musicianship, vocals and lyrics are only just the beginning, with Deceiver Of The Gods. AMON AMARTH have quite possibly released one of their finest Metal works of their storied career.

AMON AMARTH have a catalog of stellar albums that are (rather) difficult to leap-frog, when I think of making comparisons within their discography. AMON AMARTH are undisputed Metal legends, therefore Deceiver Of The Gods (just) has to be grand. Right? It is! This new AMON AMARTH album, Deceiver Of The Gods, rages along with Melodic Death Metal majesty and is a sonic blast of what this band is so legendary for!

My favorite song on this album is Hel. Glory be to the Metal Gods, this song is impeccable! Hel has now become (quite honestly) my favorite AMON AMARTH song of all-time! Vocalist Johan Hegg and (former Candlemass) guest vocalist Messiah Marcolin compliment each other in eye-popping fashion; it’s Johan’s muscular growl meets Messiah’s falsetto.

The title track (and album opener) plus the closer Warriors Of The North are fist-pumping, headbanging and raise the horns to the sky epics! A well thought-out way of bookending the prime-rib delicacy of Metal that is Deceiver Of The Gods. Northern Mythology is once again embraced within the themes of this new AMON AMARTH album; with the Norse God, Loke, being the current example; however, this album is not devoted entirely on this legendary figure.

AMON AMARTH continuously raises their own bar of excellence and I couldn’t be more sincere and psyched about that. I highly recommend Deceiver Of The Gods to ALL my fellow Metal brethren and consider it as a bona-fide Top Ten contender for Metal Odyssey’s year-end Best Of 2013 list.

ZOMBIEFICATION – On May 14th of this year, At The Caves Of Eternal, from Mexico’s ZOMBIEFICATION, was released in North America, via Pulverised Records. The first moment I caught news of this new ZOMBIEFICATION album’s imminent release, I was psyched-out to the Metal maximum! I’m even more psyched-out, now that I’ve been listening to this new offering of Death Metal from Mexico’s deadliest Metal band.

Last year’s Death Metal gem from ZOMBIEFICATION was (the) Reaper’s Consecration EP and it landed on the Metal Odyssey Best Of list for 2012 Metal albums. At The Caves Of Eternal is guaranteed a position on this year’s list as well. ZOMBIEFICATION has once again created an album that bestows full-blown, evil, mind melting and groove saturated Death Metal.

ZOMBIE DEATH STENCH – BAND BIO:

ZOMBIE DEATH STENCH doesn’t fit into any one specific genre of Metal, instead playing what they like to call “Horror Metal.” Mixed within and between their aural assaults are cold analog keyboard sounds that are evocative of Horror and Sci-Fi films of the late 70’s and 80’s. Their music is cold, dark, violent and ugly. There is nothing flashy, nothing pretty and nothing about it is clean. It is Metal in its purest rotting undead form. Nothing is sacred to them…only the undead.

Formed in 2007 and, after many line-up changes, the band has found their sound with the current four core members. With three albums, (Here I Die…Zombified, The Redeadening, The Coming Bloodbath) under their belt, they are weaving their way into the Metal mainstream with much more to come in the future.

MERCILESS TERROR – To Release “Vile Extinction” October 7th On Devil’s Clause Records

UK-based thrashers MERCILESS TERROR will release their full-length debut, Vile Extinction, on October 7th via Devil’s Clause Records.

The album comes on the heels of last year’s self-released EP, Eternal Decay, and sees the band overcome a series of obstacles in the form of lineup changes. Earlier this year, Michael Brush (ex-HELLBASTARD) stepped in to take over drum duties and original guitarist David Siddons took his leave and was recently replaced by shredder Luke Tasker.

Frontman Dale Linsdell commented: “‘It has been tough this past year, with new line up changes/touring and recording the album itself, we are glad to finally unleash it upon the world. This will be 11 tracks of pure terror”

Vile Extinction was recorded at Stuck on a Name Studios by co-producer Ian Boult and was mixed and mastered by Neil Williams at Abysmal Audio. The album artwork was handled by legendary artist Jon Zig and the bands logo was revamped by local artist Gary Ronaldson of Bite Radius Designs.

REPTILIAN DEATH – Signs With Old School Metal Records

Mumbai-based Death Metal outfit REPTILIAN DEATH has signed with Old School Metal Records for the October 10th release of the band’s second full-length, The Dawn Of Consummation And Emergence.

REPTILIAN DEATH has long existed in the shadows of the Indian metal scene as the side project of Demonic Resurrection frontman, Demonstealer. The band spent their first 12 years making sporadic live appearances and changing line-ups fairly often. During that time, REPTILIAN DEATH had an almost humorous disposition, writing little spoof Metal epics like ‘5 Easy Ways To Murder Someone’ and ‘Nursery Rhymes For Satan’s Children’ while balancing a handful of serious tracks which eventually found themselves on their 2004 debut, Total Annihilation. In 2006, the band’s direction took a turn for the serious with the release of their EP Intestinal Feast on the Defaced And Split album, which also featured Exhumation, Warface and Narsil.

Shortly after the release, the band returned to the shadows until resurfacing in early 2013. The band exploded on the scene and completely metamorphosed into a brand new beast. Fronted by Vinay Venkatesh (Bhaynak Maut), dressed in priestly robes with his face painted half black and half white and backed by a band of masked members REPTILIAN DEATH has moved out of the shadows and into the forefront of the global Metal community. The world will now see The Dawn Of Consummation And Emergence.

The combined demolishing power and technical prowess of the music the trio creates is truly jaw-dropping on every one of the band’s releases to date, and watching them hone and construct these anguished hymns piece-by-piece is enthralling for any extreme music musician or ULCERATE devotee.

Album-to-album, ULCERATE continually expands their attack by melding mechanical elements with organic flow patterns, and integrating more sonically demoralizing elements into their haunting explosiveness. BROKEN HOPE has revealed the title of their 6th studio release as Omen of Disease. The album title, created by chief-lyricist, Jeremy Wagner, is also an actual album track, which marks the first official BROKEN HOPE “title track” since their 1991 debut album, Swamped in Gore.

Jeremy Wagner comments about this upcoming release:

“Some time ago, a festering Death Metal prophecy indicated something sick and brutal was coming back from the dead. The malignant signs became evident when BROKEN HOPE first resurrected from the grave and then went on tour. A more sinister foreboding followed when BROKEN HOPE wrote a new death metal album for the world to hear. Boasting an original, inventively dread-inspiring style of audio torture, Auckland, New Zealand-based Death Metal trio ULCERATE has completed the final stages of preparation for the pending release of their fourth horrific masterpiece, and first for Relapse Records.

Since their 2009 debut on Neurotic and two subsequent LPs through Willowtip, ULCERATE has strived to continually hone and contort their Death Metal attack, their sound ever-evolving into harsh new realms of turmoil, melding mechanical and organic elements into their haunting, blast-strewn explosiveness. A forward-thinking Death Metal style citing Hate Eternal, Gorguts and Immolation collides head-on into more dissonant and blackened infiltrations of Deathspell Omega or Portal, forming a monolithic anti-harmonic atrocity.

After signing ULCERATE last year, new label Relapse unveils the info on the band’s newest works as the album nears release late this Summer. After a year of writing and planning, the creation of the record came to fruition in March of this year when the band entered hometown MCA Studios. The nine passages harnessed during these sessions culminates into a nearly fifty-five minute document of the outfit’s most tumultuous craftsmanship yet, entitled Vermis.

Relapse will unleash the album on CD, double LP and digitally, now confirmed for release September 17th in North America, preceded bySeptember 13th in Germany and Benelux, and September 16th in the UK and rest of the world. Preorders have been made available here.

The Living Magisterium was produced by Chris Wisco at Belle City Sound in Racine, WI and the cover art was created by renowned artist Raf the Might (Too Many Skulls). Currently the band is booking shows around the mid-west and recently has shared the stage with Vital Remains, Jungle Rot, and Sathanas.

OBITUARY – Death Metal Icons Announce Virtual Tour + Live Chat With Fans

Now celebrating the 25th anniversary of their landmark Slowly We Rot full-length, Tampa Death Metal icons, OBITUARY, have been perpetually busy finding new methods of ways to bring fans closer to their audio carnage through worldwide concert streams and all-access backstage giveaways.

Most recently, the band offered up a Pay Per View, professionally shot live stream of their homecoming performance at The Orpheum which featured a pummeling all classics setlist from their first three platters of brutality: 1989’s Slowly We Rot 1990’s Cause of Death and 1992’s The End Complete.

This week the band continues to spread their timeless audio devastation with an On Demand, regionally based, virtual tour and live chat with fans. ARMAROTH – From Kranj, Slovenia cometh the Death Metal carnage of ARMAROTH. This is underground Death Metal to savor and enjoy like an ice-cold 6 pack of ale on a hot Summer’s afternoon or a cold day in Winter… take your Metal pick! ARMAROTH plays their Death Metal in the vein of Six Feet Under and Obituary and seemed to have taken their deathly influence quite well from listening to Death and Cannibal Corpse as well.

Putting our Death Metal icons aside, ARMAROTH come across loud and deadly clear that they are original. With impressive melodic guitars and bone tearing riffs featured, the overall depth of sound from this band is one of total F’n destruction upon its surroundings; therefore I cannot pigeonhole ARMAROTH as only a Melodic Death Metal band. In other Metal words, ARMAROTH plays F’n slash-to-the-throat Death Metal. Very bloody nice, indeed.

After the 1:14 seconds of spoken intro, all Death Metal hell breaks loose from ARMAROTH and their debut False Vision EP! False Vision carries through on what I was (hopefully) anticipating: heavy grooves, scathingly heavy drums with pissed-off and death ridden vocals that are all like a death strike, straight from the gates of hell itself! Hail underground Death Metal… and ARMAROTH is another potent reason why! Metal be thy name.

Are you ready for “Austrian Neckbreaking Death Metal”? Good, because we’re welcoming OUTRAGE to the Massacre Records family!

Founded in late 2000, OUTRAGE played Death Metal since their very beginning – influenced by both US Death Metal heroes as well as Classic Metal and Rock legends, like AC/DC or Sepultura.

They released their first demo “and deeper…” in 2002 and the first studio album “Switch Off The Pain” followed in 2006.

OUTRAGE played numerous shows in Europe and supported bands such as their Massacre Records label mates Disbelief, Mastic Scum and Debauchery and went on mini-tour with Lay Down Rotten in G/A/S in 2009.

Some of you have probably seen them live at Austria’s Metalfest (2010) and Extremefest (2012), Slovenia’s Metalcamp (2005/2007/2008/2010) or Germany’s Walpurgis Metal Days (2007/2010), among other festival appearances.

The band’s second album Contaminated was recorded at the Kohlekeller Studio and was released 2009 via Maintain Records/Twilight-Vertrieb.

OUTRAGE’s typical trademarks are brutal grooves, blistering riffs and aggressive breakdowns paired with lyrics about anger, melancholy, frustration and social criticism.

The guys entered the Kohlekeller Studio again in March 2011 and recorded their upcoming album Brutal Human Bastard, which is going to be released in autumn 2013 via Massacre Records!

DEBAUCHERY “Kings Of Carnage” – Is Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!

DEBAUCHERY – Releasing on August 2nd, 2013, via Massacre Records, is one hell of an album straight from hell that I’m gratefully addicted to: Kings Of Carnage from Debauchery. This band of Metal hell assassins blend a fascinating mix of Death/Melodic Death Metal, with straight-up Thrash grooves wrapped around a powerful Metal sound; all coupled with Death and Blackened vocals with spine cracking, hellish gang vocals for good Metal measure.

There is plenty of Heavy Metal thump-and-stump across Kings Of Carnage and it’s riff-infested to the maximum Metal potential! The title track alone is worth the price of Metal admission here and Debauchery are not just convincing with their Metal; they are F’n convincing. This is an album that is quite ruthless with its ability to make my neck ache from headbanging and I’m very thankful for it.

Lyrically vicious and memorable as all hell, Kings Of Carnage reminds me that blood-soaked songs of carnage can pack my brain with true deathly bliss. Just a grand kick-to-the-Metal-ass release from Debauchery. With Victory Awaits, Debauchery also reminds me of just how victorious their new album truly is and I’m more than willing to join the Debauchery Motherfuckin Family. Metal be thy name.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER – Releases “Into The Everblack” Performance Demo Video

At the Ventura, California stop of the trek, Brian Eschbach, Ryan Knight, Max Lavelle, and Alan Cassidy, recorded their parts for Into the Everblack from the band’s new album, Everblack. Audio Hammer producer Mark Lewis comments specifically on Knight’s leads on “Everblack” stating, “Ryan Knight’s leads on ‘Everblack’ are nothing short of phenomenal. I grew up listening to the best in the era of shred, and I can honestly say these solos rank up there with the best, and beyond. They are not just technical solos in the athletic, ‘look how fast I can play’ sense; there is truly amazing harmonic content going in these leads. Any educated player will realize that the chord changes he is playing over are far more complex than anything you typically find in metal. Mix all that with absolutely world-class tone and vibrato, and you really have an amazing piece of work. It does not get better than this.”

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s new music video for “Goat of Departure” was also recently made available, and be seen on youtube HERE. The video, directed by Ben Mayer, was filmed in the band’s hometown of Detroit last month. In typical TBDM fashion, it is over-the-top and even features the return of a classic TBDM character, and a real, live goat.
