KISS – just about any and every item you can think of, has had the KISS logo or images of the band put on them. From lunch boxes to boxer shorts. Over the years, (since the late 1970’s), I have collected KISS collectibles. Still, I would not consider my KISS kollection to be very huge at all. In fact, my KISS kollection is quite modest, I have for some reason or another, showed much restraint in buying “anything” that has the KISS logo on it. One KISS kollectible that I did purchase back in the mid 1980’s was a comic book, from a comic book store that was quite messy and cold. I still have this cool comic book, (see the two pics below this post).

This KISS comic book was put out by Marvel Comics back in 1978. This comic book has 56 pages, a four page/pull out KISS poster and two pages dedicated to the making of the KISS movie – KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. A KISS interview is also included in these same pages, in regards to their making this movie. I remember when network television carried KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park, it was on NBC, sometime around 1978. If my Metal memory serves me correctly, this movie was rather corn dog… still, it was KISS! I have not seen this KISS movie in probably 30 years now… quite a few years. I will most likely seek out this KISS movie on video or if it’s even on DVD? It would be a Metal hoot to just watch it again… for old times sake!

Going back to my KISS comic book… it is in excellent condition, not mint, yet that is still fine with me. I keep it in a protective plastic comic bag too, just to preserve it all the more.

Here is what the front cover of my KISS comic book from 1978 looks like:

Here is what the back cover of this same KISS comic book looks like:

This back cover advertises the four KISS solo albums from 1978!! The heading on this back cover ad could never be more true – A Milestone! Man, does this bring back some vintage KISS memories! Plus, 1978 was the year that my beloved New York Yankees beat down the hapless Boston Red Sox in a one-game playoff for the American League Eastern Division Title!! Another Milestone! That same legendary Yankees team went on to win the 1978 World Series against the Los Angeles Dodgers too!! Ahhh… the memories, the milestones, they are truly priceless.

1978… KISS… a KISS comic book… and Bucky Dent hitting a home run over the infamous Green Monster at the ever historic Fenway Park. It’s funny how one memory leads to another from a particular, remembered year.

LONG LIVE KISS!

LONG LIVE BUCKY DENT AND THE 1978 NEW YORK YANKEES TOO!

New York Yankees Logo - classic NYI AM A YANKEE FAN. I love my Yankees. Normally, I never mention sports whatsoever on Metal Odyssey, however, tonight is special. The New York Yankees are Major League Baseball’s WORLD CHAMPIONS! I am so proud of the Yankees, 27 World Series titles… wow. Holy Cow!!

CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL THE NEW YORK YANKEES AND THEIR FANS!!

HIDEKI MATSUI A.K.A. GODZILLA – UNREAL GAME! YANKEE HERO FOREVER!!

TOO MANY NEW YORK YANKEE WORLD SERIES RECORDS TO MENTION!!

GOD BLESS DEREK JETER! A REAL CAPTAIN!

DEREK JETER – 175 CAREER POST SEASON HITS. HOLY COW!

27 WORLD SERIES TITLES! HOLY COW!

ANY MOMENT… A MAGICAL MOMENT AT YANKEE STADIUM!

THANK YOU MR. STEINBRENNER FOR GIVING THE FANS SO MANY GREAT YANKEE PLAYERS OVER THE YEARS!

#1 OWNERSHIP IN MAJOR LEAGUE BASEBALL HISTORY – THE STEINBRENNER FAMILY!

HOW SWEEEEET IT IS TO BE A YANKEE FAN!

The Red Sox Nation could not comprehend 27 World Series titles. The Red Sox Nation can continue to groom great ball players for the Yankees… we will always take them. Thank you, Red Sox, for not resigning Johnny Damon, Roger Clemens and Wade Boggs in past years. All three of these great Yankee heroes are Yankees World Series Champions.

Hey, Steven King… repeat after me… NEW YORK YANKEES, WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS.

Hey, Ben Affleck… can you say… NEW YORK YANKEES, WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS? HUH?

Hey, Big Papi… can you say… 27 World Series Championships? I didn’t think so. Try again.

Hey, Jason Varitek… can you say… Jorge Posada has way more World Series rings?

Hey, Curt Schilling… can you say… New York Yankees, 27 World Series Titles? C’mon, try…

WHO’S YOUR DADDY! WHO’S YOUR DADDY! WHO’S YOUR DADDY! WHO’S YOUR DADDY!

THANK YOU PEDRO MARTINEZ, FOR STARTING GAME 6 OF THE 2009 WORLD SERIES! ALL OF US YANKEE FANS KNEW WE COULD COUNT ON YOU!! WHO’S YOUR DADDY?

TRIVIA TIME: HOW MANY WORLD SERIES RINGS DID TED WILLIAMS WIN? UM, “0”. ZERO.

Oh, by the way… say goodbye to the AROD curse, Red Sox Nation. Plus, as a Yankee bonus… the Yankees win their 27th “record” World Series in the first year of their brand new ballpark. Can the Red Sox Nation say – brand new ballpark? Uh, nope. All that the Red Sox Nation knows is their old, decrepit ballpark also known as the “little league field” of Major League Baseball. Fenway Park… it’s a junkyard compared to the NEW Yankee Stadium – home to the WORLD SERIES CHAMPIONS.

New York Yankees logo - white on blueWhy have I spent so much time here bugging on the Red Sox Nation? Due to the fact that this same Red Sox Nation has been a cocky, arrogant, wide eyed bunch of band wagon fans that thinks the sun sets and rises over their aging team and junkyard, uh, I mean Fenway Park. Someone remind the three stooges up in Boston, (you know, the owners of the Red Sox), that they need to start dumping some of their AGING ballplayers if they want to even think about competing on the Major League level. Theo who? Where’s Manny? Whatever happened to Nomar? Hey Boston, can you say… GLUM NATION? Or, try this one on for size… JEALOUS NATION? Ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha, hee, hee, ho, ha, ha, ha. Um, ha, ha again.

NEW YORK YANKEES! WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF THE WORLD! #1! THE VERY BEST! 27 WORLD SERIES TITLES! HOLY COW! NEW YORK YANKEES ROCK!

Some nifty thoughts from a Metal mind.

Posted in Metal with tags , , , , , , on March 29, 2009 by Metal Odyssey

metalodysseyThere are those tidbits of thoughts that I have that just need to be read by the entire world. No, these thoughts are not dirty, so if that is what you are looking for keep searching. Instead, these thoughts are rather more like opinions, than anything else. See if you agree or disagree, either way, these are from a Metal mind.

* Correct me if I am wrong but wasn’t Anderson Cooper alot more cool, at times mysterious and chilled out when he was the host of the reality show “The Mole”? Since CNN has basically declared him the authority of reading a tele-prompter, well, he reminds me of the substitute teacher no fellow teachers even like.

* The Dallas Cowboys of the NFL and the New York Yankees of MLB are both unveiling their multi-hundred million dollar stadiums this year. (yawn). It would be nice if just one, billion dollar sports franchise owner would build a new children’s hospital here in America for our very own sick and needy children.

* Corporations scramble, fall head over heels and spend hundreds of millions of dollars to earn themselves “naming rights” on a sports stadium. (yawn). Why don’t corporations get just as giddy to spend that same amount of money by putting their name on a research hospital or orphanage?

* I see that there has been blizzard conditions in the midwest the past few days, (week of March 22, 2009), with some areas of the midwest reporting upwards of 3 feet of snow. The greenhouse effect is really in full swing now. After living in the North East United States all of my life, maybe, just maybe, I will write a book and call it – “The Ice Box effect”. It will be a glorious day for me, once I see a greenhouse effect on my heating bill. I am still waiting for that day…

* How come, the “Grammy Awards” does not just change their annual show’s name to: “The Anti-Metal Music Grammy Awards”? Just get rid of the “token” “Best Metal Performance” award over there at the Grammy’s, puh-lease!!
