THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER Unleashes Animated Video For “Mammoth’s Hand” – Servitude To See Release September 27th On Metal Blade Records

“Mammoth’s Hand” is the latest single from THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER. The track comes by way of the band’s upcoming tenth studio album, Servitude, set for release on September 27th via Metal Blade Records.

“Mammoth’s Hand” is partly inspired by a scene from Don Coscarelli’s 1982 swords ‘n’ sorcery epic, The Beastmaster. “We usually like to give some idea of what kind of diversity is gonna be on the album with the first two tracks we release,” vocalist Brian Eschbach offers. “[Guitarist] Ryan Knight wrote the music for this, and the slow rhythm made me think of these barbaric warriors riding mammoths out in the snow or that scene from The Beastmaster when the Jun horde takes the village.”

Eschbach further elaborates, “‘Mammoth’s Hand’ is a romp through a fictitious frozen tundra in which a clan of nomadic mammoth riding cannibals conquer villages in a time devoid of technology. The slow groove of this song is a vibe not often implemented by the group but immediately inspired a vision in my mind of a slow moving yet gigantic and powerful beast of antagonistic nature.”

NOISEM – Featured On Cover Of Decibel As Magazine Tour With CARCASS Begins

Baltimore Thrash assassins, NOISEM, will undertake their most high-profile tour excursion to date next week, as the young crew hits the road on the third annual Decibel Magazine tour. Set to provide their jacked-up, rabid thrash assault as the opening act of the tour, NOISEM’s set will be followed by each night by performances from massive Metal luminaries Gorguts, The Black Dahlia Murder, and headliners, Carcass.

The three-week venture gets underway on Tuesday, March 18th in Orlando, Florida before blasting westward infiltrating major cities across the US and Canada before the final gig on April 13th in Silver Spring, Maryland, right down the street from the band’s home turf. The trek is preceded by several one-off gigs this weekend including a show in Cleveland with lablemates In Cold Blood and Haymaker followed by two shows with Gorguts and The Black Dahlia Murder.

This week, the cover of the April issue of Decibel is out, featuring members of all four acts on the magazine’s tour, including NOISEM frontman, Tyler Carnes. Additionally, the band recently completed a new recording entitled “Defiled” for Decibel’s ongoing flexi-series which has been released this week. The 7″ flexi will appear in the May issue of the mag but has been released early in advance of the tour.

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER – Releases “Into The Everblack” Performance Demo Video

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER are currently leveling stages as part of this year’s Van’s Warped Tour. At the Ventura, California stop of the trek, Brian Eschbach, Ryan Knight, Max Lavelle, and Alan Cassidy, recorded their parts for Into the Everblack from the band’s new album, Everblack. The performance is streaming now at metalblade.com/bdm. Additionally, videos for each individual performance have been posted at youtube.com/blackdahliamurdertv.

Audio Hammer producer Mark Lewis comments specifically on Knight’s leads on “Everblack” stating, “Ryan Knight’s leads on ‘Everblack’ are nothing short of phenomenal. I grew up listening to the best in the era of shred, and I can honestly say these solos rank up there with the best, and beyond. They are not just technical solos in the athletic, ‘look how fast I can play’ sense; there is truly amazing harmonic content going in these leads. Any educated player will realize that the chord changes he is playing over are far more complex than anything you typically find in metal. Mix all that with absolutely world-class tone and vibrato, and you really have an amazing piece of work. It does not get better than this.”

THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER’s new music video for “Goat of Departure” was also recently made available, and be seen on youtube HERE. The video, directed by Ben Mayer, was filmed in the band’s hometown of Detroit last month. In typical TBDM fashion, it is over-the-top and even features the return of a classic TBDM character, and a real, live goat.

Detroit Michigan’s Melodic Death Metal outfit, THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER, will be hitting the road this coming summer as a part of the annual Vans Warped Tour. Vocalist Trevor Strnad comments; “We in THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER look forward to seeing you and your friend’s fancy haircuts this summer at the Vans Warped Tour. I think it’s safe to say that all of us in TBDM have attended this tour at various points and have fond memories of this great American punk rock freak show. This time, we shall be the freaks… the sore thumb poking at your eyeball. We are proud to be the fastest, craziest, and most evil band that has ever played Warped Tour… hundreds of bands will enter, one band will leave. Us. We will emerge from the rubble like the giant cockroach men we are. See ya this summer… let’s get warped!!!”

New acts are being announced every Friday so keep an eye on official Van’s Warped Tour site for further updates. The 2013 Vans Warped Tour will kick off on Saturday, June 15 in Auburn, WA at the White River Amphitheatre and wraps up on August 04 in Houston, TX at Reliant Center Parking Lot.

With that said, whenever I witness an Extreme Metal Band crack this same album chart, well, the world suddenly becomes a better place indeed. Step in The Black Dahlia Murder… please. Their newest album – Deflorate, (Metal Blade Records), debuted at #43 on the Billboard Top 200 Album Chart the week of September 15, 2009. (12,000 units were sold in the first week of this albums release). YEAH! In the midst of dozens of bubble gum – Pop Music new releases, there arises… The Black Dahlia Murder. Let this debut week showing of this incredible band and album, be a Metal reminder to the commercial Pop/Elevator Music world, that Extreme Music lurks around every corner, back road, corn field, city street and CD aisle. Earlier this year, Cannibal Corpse cracked this same Billboard Top 200 Album Chart as well, I see an Extreme Metal pattern of awareness starting to develop here in 2009. Metal Odyssey is Extreme Metal proud of The Black Dahlia Murder, (and still damn Metal proud of Cannibal Corpse too). Real music… Metal Music. All of us Metalheads and the Metal Bands we follow are not going away anytime soon… METAL RULES.
