Italian Death/Thrashers OMNIVORE have unleashed their self-titled debut album through Unspeakable Axe Records. This blood-soaked slab of old-school thrash aggression is now available at: www.unspeakableaxerecords.com.
A promo video for the song “I Hope The War Comes” is now playing below:
Like their name suggests, OMNIVORE are equal-opportunity devourers. Their raging full-length shows that they clearly consumed old Death/Thrash acts from Europe and the U.S. – think Massacra, Merciless, and Sadus – as well as the more-familiar Bay Area bands, represented here by the use of gang vocals, some melodic lead parts, and even a startlingly well-played acoustic passage. Of course, one of their biggest influences is revealed by the hidden bonus track at the end, a cover song that implores you to “Arise!”
Hailing from Varese and spawned in 2011 from the ashes of Nightmare Of Fallen, Omnivore is already a project on hold. The band’s lone album (so far at least) is going to burn down villages and consume the fleeing villagers.
HEMOPTYSIS – Phoenix, Arizona’s Thrash Metal titans, HEMOPTYSIS, have released today, the re-recording of Traitor; a killer track originally recorded on the band’s debut EP from 2008: Who Needs A Sheperd? This song from HEMOPTYSIS is a freaking 100% scorcher! Metal be thy name!
HEMOPTYSIS Reports:
Here’s a “good surprise” we mentioned the other day! We cannot wait to release the new songs we have written. We are currently waiting for studio time to record a 5-song EP of all new material. We will keep you posted and let you know as soon as we start recording. In the meantime, we hope you all enjoy this new version of the song “Traitor”! Thank you so much for your continuous support! Horns up!

TRIGANT, in its current line-up has existed since mid 2010. Since then, this German band creates their own music, with a unique style, which can be described best as Modern Heavy Thrash Metal with a massive dose of Groove. Two in-house productions have already been released.
In spring 2011 “The Legendary Demotape” has been released, followed by the “Wolves EP” on Sept. 01, 2013.
Furthermore, TRIGANT has launched a series of concerts known as “Metal im Markt” which takes place two or three times a year and for now counts to the most famous once in their region.
CRANK UP AND LET LOOSE THE METAL FROM… TRIGANT! METAL BE THY NAME!
UNTIMELY DEMISE are from Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. Thrash Metal and Death Metal collide in a fireball of gargantuan glory, on Systematic Eradication; with healthy slices of True and Speed Metal adding to the Metal delicacy! Untimely Demise is, in my Metal opinion, a Metal band that has an enormous cross-over appeal to Metal fans of widespread Metal tastes. I’m certain the majority shall agree, the cover artwork for Systematic Eradication kicks quantum ass. Ed Repka is an artistic Metal genius.
With plenty of melodic guitar solos and groove infested rhythm throughout, Systematic Eradication is a Metal release from 2013 that must be highlighted here on Metal Odyssey. This Untimely Demise album comes across with such a genuine attack of Thrash sound and energy; I cannot resist listening to Systematic Eradication, in its entirety, each time I reach for it! Vocally and musically impressive, as ALL eight songs flow seamlessly together, with each song having ample Metal uniqueness of structure and enjoyability. A fabulous Metal album! Metal be thy name. – Stone
COLDSTEEL – With five songs of blistering, American made Thrash Metal, COLDSTEEL gets ‘er done with their 2013 release: America Idle. The duo guitars of Eddie Campbell and Joe Shavel are a Thrash force, the vocals of Troy Norr is a Thrash force and the rhythm section of Doug Odell (bass) and Hal Aponte are the Thrashing icing on the Metal freaking cake.
These seasoned warriors of Thrash Metal, from New York, New York, have paid their dues and exemplify all things kick-ass about underground Thrash Metal in America. With an old school nod to the greats of the genre, COLDSTEEL have always pulled it off in a genuine, Thrashing style as an original. For me NOT to get my ass up and Thrash about, while I’m cranking up America Idle, (at home, not in the car), is a rarity. COLDSTEELwill ignite your veins, brain and nervous system to MOSH the F*CK OUT! Metal be thy name. – Stone
HATRIOT – Releasing on February 21st, 2014, via Massacre Records, is the sophomore album from HATRIOT: Dawn Of The New Centurion. Bay Area Thrash legend, Steve “Zetro” Souza, has once again delivered an insanely solid and eye-popping vocal performance! All fans of HATRIOT and Thrash Metal should be psyched out of their skin, once they listen to these 9 songs of true, old school Thrash Metal. Steve has to be extremely damn proud of this follow-up to their kick-ass 2013 debut album: Heroes Of Origin.
The guitar duo, (led by) Kosta V with Miguel Esparza are freaking incredible to lose your brain cells to! Whoa! Both of these axe slingers play in true Bay Area Thrash Metal style, with speed, heaviness, melodic character and plenty of furious interludes. Solid as hell is HATRIOT and they bestow the talent you’d come to expect from Thrash icons such as Anthrax, Testament, Megadeth, Death Angel and Forbidden.
There’s NO filler on this album, just plenty of Thrash greatness. The gang vocals are prevalent throughout, with a Thrash spirited rhythm section of yesteryear. Yes, Steve “Zetro” Souza has proven himself as an ultimate Thrash Metal mentor and his 2 sons in HATRIOT, Cody (bass) and Nick (drums), must surely be grateful! If I must pick my favorite song from this gem, it’s the title track. Dawn Of The New Centurion is a complete Thrash Metal package, with every song a killer! This is an electrifying Thrash Metal album; one that bridges the glory years of the 80’s to our modern-day of Thrash Metal. Hell yes and… Metal be thy name. – Stone
LOST SOCIETY, one of the most promising up-and-coming Finnish bands of our time, has released the details to their upcoming album Terror Hungry. “LOST SOCIETY is back, and we’re angrier than ever,” commented guitarist/vocalist Samy Elbanna. “The new album Terror Hungry is a full on thrash album from start to finish, with a darker and even more aggressive feel to it! It has the signature elements that make up LOST SOCIETY and we’ve put in even more groove riffage, more mind blistering guitar shredding, and some of the fastest stuff we’ve ever done on it! Look out, this one’s gonna be faster, louder and we’re more pissed off than ever!”
Terror Hungry was produced by Nino Laurenne (AMORPHIS, ENSIFERUM, LORDI) at the renowned Sonic Pump studios (FINNTROLL, SONATA ARCTICA, OMNIUM GATHERUM). The artwork was created by Jan Meininghaus (BOLT THROWER, SICK OF IT ALL, UDO). Expect to see the release of Terror Hungry in both digital and physical formats on April 1st (North America) and April 4th (Europe) via Nuclear Blast Records.
Artist Jan Meininghaus states about the album cover:
“I was asked to do LOST SOCIETY’s new album cover and first of all, I had to face the fact that I had to follow their debut album’s art that was created by the legendary Ed Repka; one of the true heroes of my own thrash metal days. So I decided to go a different way and create the band’s cover idea in a much darker and less cartoony mood than the debut. LOST SOCIETY’s musical style and their approach to metal is very 80’s bay area to me, so I thought it might be fun to paint something that might have been on one of those record covers these days. I listened to LOST SOCIETY and my old EXODUS, TESTAMENT and FORBIDDEN vinyls and it was a blast to come up with Terror Hungry artwork!”

LOST SOCIETY’s debut Fast Loud Death displayed a true old-school Thrash vibe in 2013 and managed to amaze press and scene veterans such as KREATOR, TANKARD, DESTRUCTION or TESTAMENT alike. Just check out these video clips from that very record, to see what all the hype is about:
The bavarian Thrash Metal masterminds from RUNNING DEATH are currently putting all their love, sweat and tears into writing their upcoming debut album.
The record is to be released in late 2014 and RUNNING DEATH will for sure gain a lot of prompt attention – from more than just fans of their genre.
What we’ve seen so far makes us expect nothing less than a Thrash Metal sensation!!!
The band was founded in 2004 and has from the beginning, always been looking for quality, diversity and a completely unique style.
Exploring their own ground is what keeps these musicians and founder, guitarist and singer Simon Bihlmayer awake at night.
You’re way more likely to hear stomping Heavy Metal riffs paired with unorthodox arranged razor-sharp Thrash riffs… than all the things you’ve already heard so often and really have grown weary of!
Celebrating wide diversity and integrating an extraordinarily ambitioned reinterpretation of 80s flair, the four Metal maniacs invite you to a journey through their wonderfully catchy and powerful songs.
All those factors combined create such a unique and ever exciting soundscape, that many kinds of Metal and even Rock heads will find their itch for genuinely good music scratched!

The band’s latest, Rise…Then Rest, was mixed and mastered by none other than Erik Rutan (Hate Eternal, Cannibal Corpse, Morbid Angel, et. al.). Previously available in Spain only, Apostasy Records will release this masterpiece across the UK, Europe and North America. More details to come.

Cincinnati, Ohio – The Warriors of Metal, Inc. non-profit organization is excited to announce that after years of loyal support and attendance of our summer festival, the young Cincinnati, Ohio Thrash Metal band SPLIT THE ABYSS will be one of the featured bands during the Thursday, June 26th Pre-Fest Showcase of this year’s Warriors Of Metal Fest VII at O’Sheckys LIVE in Columbus, Ohio. The entry fee for the Pre-Fest Showcase is only $10 at the door and music starts at 6:00 pm.
Check out To Die at the Wall off the band’s second full-length, With Savage Intent, which was released in November of last year, below:
Band drummer John Wood “Woody” Corsini Jr. states: “We are honored to be a part of 2014’s Warriors of Metal Fest VII. We’ve been in attendance at previous festivals and we’ve always had a great time at this event. It’s the best metal festival Ohio has to offer and one of the recent highlights for us included seeing two legendary bands in Helstar and Manilla Road at the 2012 edition of this show because for both of them it was the first time they had played in Ohio since the early to mid 1980s! And now to go from being patrons to performers, shows what a young band can accomplish if it is supportive of its local and regional shows. We’ll now be sharing the stage with so many bands from around the country and this will finally put us on a national scale. Be forewarned, we intend to be the heaviest band at Warriors of Metal Fest 2014.”

A highly collectable Split-Single, of Thrash icons SODOM and HIRAX, will begin a year of celebrations, to mark the 30th anniversary of one of Germany’s leading independent record labels SPV.
Founded in January 1984, SPV has always been a forerunner when it comes to Heavy Metal. As the distributor of labels such as Metal Blade, Roadrunner, Century Media and Noise and by signing acts in the beginning like Sodom, Axel Rudi Pell, Destruction, Iron Angel, Steeler, Zed Yago, Metal Church and later Official Motörhead, Dio, Saxon, Helloween, Alice Cooper or Whitesnake, to the famous in-house label Steamhammer, SPV proves that it has a ‘truffle nose’ when it comes to finding the best and hottest Metal acts.
In 2014 SPV will celebrate its 30th anniversary with various campaigns and releases… stay tuned for more infos!
The celebrations begin with this limited edition 7″ single. Only 1,000 coloured and numbered vinyl copies will be pressed, which will make this single a highly collectable item for all Thrash Metal maniacs.
The SODOM / HIRAX Split-Single will be released in Germany on January 24th 2014, in Europe January 27th 2014 and in the USA February 4th 2014.
Swedish Thrash purists KAYSER have just signed a long-term deal with Listenable Records. KAYSER has just completed work on their Listenable debut, entitled Read Your Enemy. The album is set for release in early 2014. The band is currently working with Sinemax Productions on a video for as-of-yet-unnamed track. More details to come.
KAYSER saw the first ray of light in early June 2004 when Spice (ex Spiritual Beggars), Mattias Svensson (also The Defaced), Bob Ruben (ex The Mushroom River Band) and Fredrik Finnander decided to join forces to create a pure Metal band. The band’s sound is fully immersed in true original Heavy/Thrash Metal genre with emphasis on the muscular songwriting : hammering blistering and catchy riffs one after another, delivering the goods through scorching witty arrangements with fluid virtuosity. Focus always lies on the song, easily identifiable through the supreme vocals by Spice, though the emotional and musical expressions stretch from heavy introvert pounding to pure hate driven ferocity.
“No boundaries and no limits… and that goes for everything,” the members stated initially to set the aim straight. As for comparisons, it might be best described as a mutation of Black Sabbath/Megadeth/Slayer with dips from different good bowls of Classic and Modern Metal. Popular for their incendiary shows, KAYSER enforces the pillars of metal with absolute authority. KAYSER became a much talked about live act among the Metal fans, rampaging cities across Europe with bands like VOLBEAT and more.
The critically adored new SKELETONWITCH offering, Serpents Unleashed, debuted on this week’s Billboard 200 at #62, marking the highest chart position of the band’s career! The record’s first-week sales marked a 68% jump from those of its 2011 predecessor, Forever Abomination.
Additionally, Serpents Unleashed debuted at #5 on this week’s Vinyl Albums chart, #7 on the Hard Rock Albums chart, #10 on the Independent Albums chart, #17 on the Internet Albums chart and #20 on the Rock Albums chart. Serpents Unleashed also debuted on the Top Current Albums chart at #87 in Canada, where the album reached #11 on the Hard Music chart as well.
Formed in Ohio a decade ago, SKELETONWITCH has received considerable acclaim for its trademark “blackened metal,” which Metal Hammer calls, “a potent brew of everything that makes metal so brilliant, vital and special.” The group’s relentless work ethic — personified by a 63-concerts-in-65-days test of endurance last year — is second to none in the genre, and true to form, the band is currently in the midst of an extensive North American tour with The Black Dahlia Murder. That tour will be followed by a US trek in early 2014 alongside Amon Amarth and Enslaved. International tour dates will be announced shortly.
Recorded earlier this year with Kurt Ballou (Converge, Isis, High On Fire), Serpents Unleashedfeatures artwork by John Baizley (Baroness, Kylesa, Kvelertak), who also designed the memorable cover of the group’s 2007 breakthrough Beyond The Permafrost. Subsequent releases Breathing The Fire (2009) and Forever Abomination (2011) — both of which cracked the Billboard Top 200 — cemented the group’s reputation as one of metal’s most important acts, and tours with the likes of Danzig, Arch Enemy, Children of Bodom, Cannibal Corpse and a slot on Ozzfest helped to cultivate one of the genre’s most passionate fanbases.
