The dawn of 2013 also saw the birth of a brand new indie record label, founded by the owners of Brooklyn’s premier dark music institution and watering hole, Saint Vitus Bar… welcome Sacrament Music. “Sacrament’s mission is to proliferate the culture that is experienced by thousands every year at our club through recordings, merchandise, mixtapes, and of course EPIC shows” states the label’s freshly launched website.

The Sacrament Music/Saint Vitus crew brought local outfit and close cohorts SANNHET on board, and have locked down the label’s maiden release. Founded in late 2010, the instrumental trio known as SANNHET has amassed a diehard audience within Brooklyn’s broad underground music circuit through their abundant live performances throughout the borough, always choreographed with electrifying visuals.

Known Flood, SANNHET’s sprawling debut LP, features nearly forty-five minutes of their electrified post-metal, fueled with domineering riff-building movements and intense percussive hostility, unifying in a slightly blackened and trance-inducing atmospheric style, captured by Colin Marston (Krallice, Behold… The Arctopus, Dysrhythmia) and mastered by Carl Saff. Sacrament Music will release the album digitally and on LP, the pressing limited to 500 with 100 on colored wax. Preorders are available HERE.

The B-side is a cover of Nagazaki’s “You Can Be”. It is a track with mega potential from a band that unfortunately never made it in the 80s.”

Norwegian black ‘n’ roll assassins VREID recently completed work on their latest long player. Titled Welcome Farewell, the follow-up to 2011’s V — whichDecibel called, “…VREID’s finest hour,” and Metal Army America commended for its “integrity and sheer electrical power,” — was recorded at bassist Hváll’s own Studio 1184 and is set for North American release via Indie Recordings on March 5, 2013.

His work is spectacular and has captured the music and lyrics beyond words. Today we have breathtaking news for all AVANTASIANS: The new album will be called THE MYSTERY OF TIME and is set for release in March.

Immediately after the release of this new Metal Opera, based on a story written by Tobias Sammet, the band will embark on a full-fledged indoor-tour, during which the band and special guests will bring the epic undertaking to the stage. Due to embracing all of the different eras and history of AVANTASIA these shows will have an extended playing time, and the whole evening will be dedicated to Avantasia with no support acts. Guests and album details will be announced soon!

Musicians who have been confirmed as guests on the CD so far are URIAH HEEP drummer Russell Gilbrook, producer and guitarist Sascha Paeth, former KISS & MEAT LOAF guitarist Bruce Kulick, and of course Tobias on bass and vocals. For this year’s Record Store Day these racket practitioners dropped a two-song flexi postcard thing called Flexihead, busting out conflicting covers of Minor Threat’s “Straight Edge” and Black Flag’s “Wasted” in the relentlessly blaring noise-infested RABBITS rage. Portland Mercury’s music editor issued a short blog post, highlighting the hand-written love note from the band stating “Enjoy your desperate attempts to make this thing play.”

Dec. 7, 2012, San Francisco — Death Valley High, the San Francisco based gloom-rock quartet, are set to release the Survival Program EP, a five song collection that follows up on the band’s sensational 2011 release Doom, In Full Bloom.

The Swedish Heavy Metal blood brothers of ENFORCER recently signed a new worldwide record deal with Nuclear Blast Records. Their new album is called Death By Fire and will be released on February, 1st.

What more should be said about them? Do we really need to introduce a band that has been on Metal Blade and Massacre Records, that has released eight full length albums and an additional three EPs?

Let’s just say that the new album is called The Bloodshed Summoning and comes four years after their 2009 release Carnage Victory, but for old and new fans of SACRED STEEL, this one is well worth the long wait.
