CORROSION OF CONFORMITY – Announce 2012 U.S. Headlining Tour

Following a short batch of dates with Clutch in December, Raleigh, North Carolina legends CORROSION OF CONFORMITY are pleased to announce a U.S. headlining tour this March. Set to commence on March 1 at the Gramercy Theatre in New York City, the trek will hit 15 cities including two performances at this year’s SXSW Music Conference in Austin. The band will be joined by Torche, Valient Thorr and A Storm Of Light.

Commented vocalist/bassist Mike Dean of the upcoming shows: “We think the lineup of music on this tour is really compatible without every band doing the same thing. We’re really proud to be on this bill and touring on a new album.”

As a precursor to the tour, the band will play one-off show with Hail!Hornet at the Orange Peel in Asheville, North Carolina on January 22. The special performance will coincide with a screening of Slow Southern Steel, the long-anticipated Southern Metal documentary produced by Rwake vocalist, CT.

The U.S. run of dates will coincide with CORROSION OF CONFORMITY‘s self-titled full-length, set for North American release on February 28, 2012 via Candlelight Records. Recorded at Dave Grohl’s Studio 606 in Los Angeles, the 11-track offering was produced by the band in cooperation with long-time collaborator John Custer, mixed by John Lousteau (Foo Fighters) and sports artwork by Seldon Hunt (Melvins, High On Fire).

Featuring the esteemed Animosity line-up of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin, the album’s release closes a six-year recording gap and completes over a year of concentrated writing and recording for the band.

SAMOTHRACE: Construction Of Second LP Underway

After nearly four years without a new release, ambidextrous Sludge purveyors SAMOTHRACE were in Soundhouse Studios in their hometown of Seattle with producer Brandon Fitzsimmons (ex-Wormwood) to being the recording of their second LP.

SAMOTHRACE issued the following collective statement about the recording process: “Working on this album at Soundhouse Studios with Brandon Fitzsimmons is amazing. We were fortunate enough to use the Rolls Royce of analog tape machines. The sound of rolling thunder was an inspiration during the whole process. The songs are as soaring and turbulent as the last album, but a bit more mature. We can’t wait for its release and imminent touring to follow.”

The LP will tentatively bear two side-long tracks, “When We Emerged” and “A Horse Of Our Own.” The hymn “When We Emerged” originally appeared on the band’s 2007 demo in a much shorter and raw form, and has here been completely reworked and extended into a new song.

The album — its title still TBA — will be released by mid-2012 via 20 Buck Spin, who also released SAMOTHRACE‘s praised 2008 debut full-length, Life’s Trade. More info on the new album will be available in the coming weeks.

HULL Issue Tour Wrap-Up, Band To Open For EYEHATEGOD In Brooklyn This Sunday!

Brooklyn Sludge Rock sensations HULL recently returned from a pillaging month-long tour crumbling stages throughout the U.S. with their sonic wall of triple-guitar led, conceptual enormity. Bassist Sean Bryant Dunn recently posted an extensive tour wrap-up. An excerpt reads:

“First and foremost, The Fucking Wrath are amazing dudes! Wise are they in entering and sustaining the ‘Nite Zoo’ mentality. Ripping through the states with these boys was truly an honor and meeting them again could come no sooner. Sorry that merch dog Shimer had to deal with that crazy shooting in NOLA on Halloween. If only he had worn the Duke that road dog Hollis had donned for his warrior outfit, there would not have been any random violence. The situation would have been resolved quickly and with less innocent casualties.”

Infamous Philly Avant/Agro Rock trio STINKING LIZAVETA have proudly joined forces with Germany’s Exile On Mainstream Records for the release of their forthcoming seventh full-length album. STINKING LIZAVETA’s near legendary cult status and blend of improvisational and otherworldly post-jazz/rock/freakout style now hitching to the exceptionally diverse purveyance of all forms of Rock that Exile On Mainstream’s roster already bears, is an ideal alliance and both sides are extremely excited about the signing.

Stated Exile On Mainstream owner Andreas Kohl on the signing: “I am thrilled and very enthusiastic about the Stinking ship steering into our harbor! This band has always been one of my all-time favorites since I started working for and with them for the first time approximately 100 years ago as PR dude when III came out. The new album from STINKING LIZAVETA will be released in the fall of 2012. More information on the album will be released over the coming weeks. EYEHATEGOD – Announce Additional East Coast Dates

Following the sonic devastation that was their performance at Fun Fun Fun Fest earlier this month, New Orleans’ hardcore, blues-based, post-amplification, dirge-doers EYEHATEGOD are set to head East this December to further their audio decimation. The band will level Boston, Allentown and Brooklyn beginning December 2.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY Signs To Candlelight Records – Album Planned For Early 2012 Release

Candlelight Records proudly announces the worldwide signing of Corrosion Of Conformity. Since early this year, the band – featuring the esteemed Animosity line-up of vocalist/bassist Mike Dean, guitarist Woody Weatherman, and drummer/vocalist Reed Mullin – have been working with long-time producer John Custer. Now nearly complete, their still untitled eighth studio album is planned for release early in the New Year.

Gathering last summer to jam as a trio for the first time in over a decade, the treasured threesome quickly rekindled the magic that originally united and ultimately bound the musicians on a journey that today continues to impress both fans and critics. It is the efforts of this line-up that Decibel Magazine recently called “a crucial stylistic lynchpin in the bridge between metal and punk. CORROSION OF CONFORMITY irrevocably reshaped crossover’s sonic possibilities.” AllMusic.com notes, ”C.O.C. weren’t following any trends. They just incorporated all the things they liked about Thrash, Punk and ’70s Metal originators Black Sabbath into their constantly evolving sound. It secured them artistic and commercial credibility.”

Candlelight’s Steve Beatty says of the signing, “Animosity is one of my favorite records ever. To have C.O.C. on Candlelight with that line-up is simply mouth-watering. I saw the band in London recently and they did not disappoint. This hungry child can’t wait for the record.” Candlelight’s Edward Christie adds, “we are extremely excited to welcome the band to the label and are looking forward to an amazing album. We are all huge fans and this is truly a memorable day for all of us.”

The band shares the excitement the immediate future holds. Woody Weatherman comments, “writing and recording this new record as a three-piece has been a blast. Having Reed back in the fold with Mike and I brings it around full circle. I’m really looking forward to all that lies ahead this upcoming year.”

Reed Mullen adds, “Mike, Woody and I essentially learned how to play music together and cultivated our own style, sound, and unspoken language. Re-bonding with them musically has been the greatest thing that’s ever happened to me.”

In addition to intense work on the album, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY has kept busy in 2011 touring throughout the US and abroad. One of the main attractions at this year’s Maryland Death Festival, the band mesmerized a salivating capacity audience. Sean Palmerston, editor for Canada’s online magazine Hellbound, said, “I lapped this set up. It was like the tastiest comfort food after a hard day’s work. I haven’t listened to those classic C.O.C. albums in a long, long time. It put a smile on my face.”

Mike Dean says of the new songs, “we have been overdubbing vocals and guitars in between our live dates for the better part of a year. Now it’s time to mix. The process we started back in April is finally coming to fruition. The results should reflect all eras of the band’s existence filtered through our current reality. This is a beast we can’t wait to set free.”

Formed in Raleigh, North Carolina in 1982, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY quickly transformed heavy music. Politically charged and socially aware, the band has influenced countless others and today remains humble about their accomplishments. With over 1.1 million albums sold in the United States alone, the new album will be their first since 2005’s In The Arms Of God. On release, Billboard Magazine called the album a “riff-fueled set that ranks with (the band’s) best work.”

EYEHATEGOD – To Traumatize California This Weekend! European Live Footage Posted!

EYEHATEGOD – Last month, New Orleans’ own existential Hardcore Blues oddballs, EYEHATEGOD, successfully completed their near-month long Retox And Nihilism Over Europe Tour alongside Japanese doomers, Church Of Misery. The trek saw Louisiana’s favorite miscreants level over 20 cities, which included stops at Hellfest in France, Kriston Festin Spain, GSM Fest in Portugal, the Roskilde Fest in Denmark and the Stoned From The Underground Festival in Germany.
Commented Mike Williams of the experience: “We returned in mental puzzle pieces from a destructive, albeit highly functional European/Scandinavian tour with Church of Misery, bringing them to the usual EU haunts such as Paris, London, and Berlin etc… plus a few previously unvisited locales such as Helsinki and the former Soviet Bloc country Estonia. One highlight amongst many was playing in the middle of the people’s revolution in Athens, Greece and playing the almighty fests such as Stoned From The Underground and Hellfest. EYEHATEGOD performed new material on this educational insanity tour.”

HULL – Hailing from the streets of Brooklyn, New York, HULL has yet again emerged with a creation to outlive the ages. Hard at work since the release of their 2009 debut, Sole Lord, ideas were envisioned and the mighty wind of creativity brought upon this Earth the latest saga, Beyond The Lightless Sky.

Digging further into the past, the Mayan epic takes the listener through a division of two brothers and the struggles that they are faced with. One finds salvation amongst the stars and the wisdom of a stranger, while the other is mesmerized with the bloodthirsty belief of sacrifice and self-mutilation. Taking the new songs on the road, HULL embarked on a successful mission to Austin for the SXSW Festival to then triumphantly return and join forces with longtime friend and talented engineer/percussionist, Brett Romnes (IATA). Within an enormous, darkened club, many nights fell into morning as the immense sound was captured for the album, before putting the recording into the hands of a mixing madman, Billy Anderson. With such experience as The Melvins, Neurosis and Eyehategod, the journey was brutally finished.

Known to behold vast sound expanses, HULL maximizes harmony and tone within one monstrous palate. Upon your brow, focus, as a furious whip of intermingling guitars propel you through the atmosphere as a low pulse resonates through your entire being while the pounding drums blanket all chasms of reality. Find yourself immersed in a musical tide as it is played out before your ears beyond the lightless sky.

EYEHATEGOD: Retox And Nihilism Over Europe Tour 2011 To Commence Today!

New Orleans derelicts, EYEHATEGOD — vocalist Mike Williams, guitarists Jimmy Bower and Brian Patton, bassist Gary Mader and drummer Joey LaCaze will kick off their long-anticipated European Summer tour today! Dubbed the Retox and Nihilism Over Europe Tour 2011, the debauchery will commence at Hellfest in Clisson, France and level 20 additional cities, before coming to a tumultuous close at the Rock Café in Tallinn, Estonia. The trek will include stops at the Kriston Festival in Spain, GSM Fest in Portugal, the Roskilde Festival in Denmark and the Stoned From The Underground Festival in Germany. EYEHATEGOD will be joined by Japanese Doom brigade, Church Of Misery.

HULL – Issue Tour Wrap-Up Via Decibelmagazine.com

This past March, Brooklyn-based Progressive Sludge Rock ensemble, HULL, completed a two-week tour with post-Doom troupe Batillus. The journey included gigs with some crushing bands, a near shut down due to “the aural strain” the band reportedly levied upon one unsuspecting neighborhood, running from cops, good food, guns, ATVs, some chest-caving appearances at this year’s SXSW and so much more.

Reads a snippet from their well-documented adventure: “I noticed one of the cops was coming after me. Although my first instinct was to protect the cavalry, my next instinct was to run from the possibility of going to jail and ruining our SXSW.  Next thing I knew, I was hiding out in a random garage in bumfuck Ft. Worth…”

HULL are gearing up to release the follow-up to their critically-acclaimed Sole Lord debut, issued via The End Records in 2009. MARYLAND DEATH FEST IX – Take a look at this lineup of Metal bands! Metal be thy name, there is enough Death Metal firepower at this Maryland Death Fest IX to make any fan of Extreme Metal drool for a month! It’s an incredible Metal feat to corral such an impressive amount of Metal bands together for four days! I can only imagine the logistics involved. Metal as my witness, this vast lineup of bands kicks some serious Metal ass. With Metal Legends the likes of Coroner, Neurosis and Cathedral being on the same bill, the influence meter for younger bands will be exploding! Corrosion Of Conformity brings their diverse Metal history to this Death Fest IX and this lineup gets meatier by the Metal minute. Dutch Death Metal all-stars, Hail of Bullets, will be making a U.S. appearance here as well and they will certainly set forth their old school Death Metal proficiency upon the masses.

The legendary Voivod looks to add some potent Thrash with their progressive extremity. Thrash Metal warriors Nuclear Assault are back! Thrash Metal has their pioneering flag bearers at this Death Fest IX without argument. GHOST has been stirring up quite the Metal buzz the last several months, they should fit right in with this Death Metal party just fine. Their brand of old school, Classic Metal with their identities unknown, will only recruit more fans at this amazing event to the dark and evil gospel according to GHOST!

HULL – Brooklyn Sludge Rockers Announce U.S. 2011 Tour Dates!

Three guitar led Brooklyn progressive Sludge rockers, HULL, are readying for a near two-week tour with post-doom troupe Batillus next month. The 12-date trek will commence on March 11 at Kung Fu Necktie in Philadelphia, including a run through SXSW in Austin where they’ll crush the masses at the Full Metal Texas and The End Records showcases, and draw to a close at a special Manhattan performance on March 26th at The Studio at Webster Hall. HULL kicked off what will prove to be a busy year with a devouring performance opening for Doom legends Pentagram. As previously announced, the band will release their epic Viking Funeral EP, initially self-released in 2005, on vinyl via Science Of Silence records later this spring. The limited edition wax version will come in 180 gram blood red/black swirl vinyl with the song on one side, a laser etched image on the other and a parchment insert with the detailed Viking Funeral saga as well as a sticker and digital download info all wrapped in a Viking Funeral poster and wax-stamped with the band’s logo. To get your hands on some Viking Funeral vinyl (as well as a sampling of the new tunes), don’t miss HULL on this upcoming run of dates.

EYEHATEGOD vs. The U.S. – More 2011 Tour Dates Announced!

The games will commence this February with a blatant hit to the Pacific Northwest in Seattle, Washington on February 5th at El Corazon. The performance will coincide with the club’s six-year anniversary. From there, the depraved New Orleans-based sludge miscreants will  preach to the unwashed masses in the following cities:
