Entitled Trenches Of The Netherworld, the album contains eleven soul-reaping circle-pit anthems utilizing the band’s seemingly patented blend of death metal and d-beat/crust punk influences. EXHUMED – Frontman Matt Harvey Added to Death To All Tour 2012

EXHUMED frontman Matt Harvey has been added as a special guest lead vocalist to the all-star studded Death To All Tour 2012. Matt Harvey will be joining drummers Gene Hoglan (Individual Thought Patterns/Symbolic) and Sean Reinert (Human), bassists Steve DiGiorgio (Human/Individual Thought Patterns) and Scott Clendenin (The Sound of Perseverance), guitarists Paul Masvidal (Human), Shannon Hamm (The Sound of Perseverance) and Bobby Koelble (Symbolic), and vocalist/label-mate Charles Elliott of Abysmal Dawn/Bereft.

Harvey replaced Obscura vocalist Steffen Kummerer due to visa issues and had only 9 days to learn his entire set. Matt Harvey elaborates on the opportunity: “To say that I’m excited about hitting the stage with such amazing musicians would be a massive understatement. To say that I’m overwhelmed standing in Chuck’s spot singing his songs would be the understatement of the century. Phrases like ‘it’s an honor’ get tossed around pretty casually, but taking part in this unique celebration is truly exhilarating, humbling and magical for me. Even though the name of the band is Death, this event is a celebration of Chuck’s life and the vitality and staying power of his work. To be able to share what Death’s music has meant to me this way is a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity I am incredibly grateful to have.”

Additionally, the concert organizers commented on Matt’s involvement: “The guys in the band, as well as the organizers and crew, want you to know Matt has been killing it! We are all very thankful for his efforts and talent, being able to pull this off on such short notice.”

Death To All 2012 is presented by Sick Drummer Magazine/Grind Percussion LLC and Perseverance Holdings Ltd – In benefit of Sweet Relief (sweetrelief.org). This five-city tour will feature a majority of Death’s amazing musicians, as well as special guests. This tour is to celebrate the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner, as well as to raise awareness of Sweet Relief Musicians Fund – a charity that provides financial assistance to career musicians faced with illness, disability or age-related problems. SINGLE BULLET THEORY – Releases New Track “Edge Of Broken”; Ready For North American Devastation Tour 2012

SINGLE BULLET THEORY have made the recently recorded track “Edge of Broken” available for download via their Bandcamp page at: http://singlebullettheory.bandcamp.com/. The song is a reworked piece of older material that will appear as a bonus track on the band’s forthcoming self-titled album, which the band is set to record this fall. Guitarist/vocalist Matt DiFabio had the following to say about “Edge of Broken”:

“This is the song that got the band moving again after an almost three-year hiatus. Written about the rise and fall of Single Bullet Theory and the “Never Say Die” approach that I (Matt DiFabio) has toward this band or my musical vision. I personally feel that this is one of the best SBT tracks ever recorded as it exemplifies exactly what this band is made of musically. This track really came to life by the help of Mr. John Ruszin III. Everyone reaches the “Edge of Broken” at one point in their life… It’s all about what you do once you get there!”

“Edge of Broken” is available for $1 at singlebullettheory.bandcamp.com. The band recently completed a video for the track which is set to debut on July 1st.

SINGLE BULLET THEORY is currently gearing up for the North American Devastation Tour with INTO ETERNITY and RIKISHA. The tour will kick off on August 9th in Cudahy, WI.  SINGLE BULLET THEORY will stay out on the road until August 21st and then hit the studio to record their fifth full-length album.

SIX FEET UNDER – Chris Barnes Issues Roadside Tour Update; Band Joins Barge To Hell Lineup

Death Metal tyrants SIX FEET UNDER are currently midway through their long-anticipated 18 Nights Of Blood Tour. The trek kicked off in Atlanta, Georgia earlier this month and has systematically leveled nine cities. This is the band’s first live outing featuring newly recruited rhythm guitarist Ola Englund who takes the place of Rob Arnold as well as bassist Jeff Hughell [ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile].Support is being provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation.

ZOMBIEFICATION – New Track Stream “I Am The Reaper” at AxesToGrind

Kick your weekend off in ghoulish style with a stream of “I Am The Reaper,” taken from ZOMBIEFICATION’s latest platter of Death Metal delectables, Reaper’s Consecration. Slated for a North American takeover via Pulverised Records on August 14, the EP was mixed and mastered at Necromorbus Studios (Watain, Interment, Demonical, etc.) in Sweden and features artwork/layout direction by ZOMBIEFICATION throat Mr. Hitch.

Having risen from the grave in 2009 following the release of their debut, Midnight Stench, ZOMBIEFICATION wasted no time in concocting a venomous brew that makes up Reaper’s Consecration.

Underground blog critics in-the-now have already hailed the EP’s putrid, old-school DM soul. Skull Fracturing Metal calls Reaper’s Consecration, “a great five-track representation of some of the finest Swedeath worshiping in the Americas (which also goes to show that Pulverised Records has some awesome taste),” Metal Odyssey describes it as a “crushing blow of intense Death Metal… showcasing five deathly songs of cataclysmic quality,” Valkyrian Music adds: “ZOMBIEFICATION play death metal as it should be played: loud, aggressive, groove laden and thoroughly kick ass!,” while Metal Maniacs notes vehemently: “ZOMBIEFICATION totally KILL on this fucking EP!”

Italian Death Metal horde HOUR OF PENANCE have announced the addition of drummer James Payne (Hiss From The Moat, Broken Heart Collage) to their lineup. Guitarist Giulio Moschini had the following to say: “Please welcome our new drummer James Payne. I’ve known him for quite a long time and he’s a very talented drummer. We’re proud to have him on board! James will be playing with us starting at Hellfest this weekend, and all of our dates on the Extreme fests here in Europe.“

Payne is currently endorsed By Tama, Vic Firth, and Zildijan and hosts his own YouTube show in which he has interviewed several drummers including Derek Roddy (Hate Eternal, Nile), Inferno (Behemoth), Paul Mazurkiewicz (Cannibal Corpse) and more. Reaper’s Consecration releases August 14th, 2012, via Pulverised Records and it’s a crushing blow of intense Death Metal to the cranium. Showcasing five deathly songs of cataclysmic quality, Zombiefication has unleashed a must own EP for all Death Metal fans worldwide. Reaper’s Consecration is that seriously good.

Bludgeoning drums and bass, with tenacious guitars, produces a foundation of fury for Mr. Hitchcock’s extreme vocals to tower upon. Guttural and maniacal, the vocals of Mr. Hitchcock are a relishing listen for me. The all-encompassing spooked-out vibe from Zombiefication’s sound, coupled with the eerie nature of the lyrics only solidifies the total impact that Reaper’s Consecration has had on me. Admittedly, I can never get enough of kick-ass Death Metal!

I wish Reaper’s Consecration was not an EP and had 12 songs! All five songs are so ruthless and mighty; making for a convincing display of Death Metal command. Solid production from top to bottom and this EP still maintains a genuine underground feel. It’s my firm Metal belief, that Zombiefication can take a Metal bow for their proficient display of Death Metal thunder. This is meritorious Death Metal that they’ve created with Reaper’s Consecration. Metal be thy name.

Some Metal and Rock ‘N Roll Thoughts – Friday, June 1st, 2012

It’s already June! Once July 1st hits, 2012 will officially be half over! Metal be thy name, time keeps on moving. There have been so many terrific album releases thus far in 2012; from Rock to Death Metal, I am not at a loss for seeking out new titles to explore. From the new Candlebox (Love Stories & Other Musings) to Six Feet Under (Undead), with new Jorn and Shadows Fall in-between, there is a wide spectrum out there that I’ve been chowing down with my ears.

The title from Loverboy’s 1985 multi-platinum album, Lovin’ Every Minute Of It, says it all about how I feel about this year in music.

I went to see Loverboy on tour supporting this album, back in 1985. This concert was at the Hartford Civic Center. I remember Philadelphia’s very own, The Hooters, opened up for Loverboy too. This was before I started hanging out with Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale and I still bumped into him at this show. Call it Metal buddy fate. Unreal.

To sum it up, Loverboy put on a damn good live show that night; the Hartford Civic Center was packed and the fans were going nuts. Lots of Loverboy lovin’ gals were there, just as many for a Poison concert (for back then). The Hooters were cool to see live too; I made certain to see their entire set.

The new Santana album Shape Shifter is INCREDIBLE. Whoa. As with many new albums, I want to write a review for it sometime soon. To say the guitar playing of Carlos Santana is delicious to my senses is an understatement. All but one song on this new Santana album are instrumentals. If you’ve even been slightly thinking about buying Shape Shifter, just buy it!

There’s just something about the guitar tones of Santana; sonic vibes that puts me into that Summertime good-feeling zone. I love it when a guitarist can take my mind on a journey, especially on instrumentals and Shape Shifter does just that. Carlos Santana is a GUITAR LEGEND. ‘Nuff said.

Both Cannibal Corpse (Torture) and Six Feet Under (Undead) have cracked the Billboard 200 Album Chart this year! Death Metal reigns! Metal be thy name! Both albums were released via Metal Blade Records. I also highly recommend both of these tremendous albums. Yes, I do and ring that Death Metal bell for all extreme and bloody glory.

Maksim also did the vocals in the early days of the band, before he was replaced as vocalist by Baris in 1999. In 2001, Sevan (former bassist) and Cagri (former drummer) joined the band. The band recorded their first demo, “A Gift From An Angel”. But the line-up shouldn’t last forever. In 2003 Onur (drums) and Özgur joined the band as a bass player and vocalist.

SOUL SACRIFICE mostly play Death Metal with melodic tunes but their sound is also influenced by Turkish melodies and offers varied vocals.

Their debut album “Stranded Hate”, released in 2005, was a huge success. Being named “the most successful live band in Turkey”, they played countless gigs in Turkey over the last decade. They had the chance to share the stage with Slayer, In Flames, Kreator as well as Dio and were opening act for Orphaned Land, Dark Tranquillity and Arch Enemy.

Their upcoming album Carpe Mortem was mixed and mastered by the legendary Dan Swanö and is going to be released on June 29, 2012 via Massacre Records.

Norwegian trio The Wretched End return with album number two. Featuring ex-Emperor guitarist Samoth and ex-Dark Funeral drummer Nils Fjellström, the Metal hybrid delivers another blistering epic.

Following a successful release overseas, Inroads makes its anticipated stateside debut. A blend of Black, Death, and Thrash, The Wretched End have early on found a curious and growing fanbase. Apeshit says, “The Wretched End possess the qualities that (extreme) Metal should: fierceness, technical prowess, great riffs, and a fist in the face delivery.”
