KROKUS will play for the first time ever at next years Masters Of Rock Festival (July 10th – July 13th, 2014).

HighVolMusic has announced that San Diego hard rock band SLEDD has signed a worldwide, multi-release deal with the label. The band had a signing party and signed their contract in front a sold out crowd at Ramona Mainstage in Ramona, CA, on Sunday night November 10th.

Formed by vocalist Cary Rothman, keyboardist Peter DeLuke, and drummer Dino DeLuke, SLEDD also features guitarist Kevin Michael and bassist Ronnie Hough. No strangers to the scene, SLEDD has toured nationally with Tesla, Gilby Clark and played with a host of artists that include Blue Oyster Cult, Filter, Great White, Queensryche, Ratt, UFO and more.

“I am stoked about SLEDD joining the family. I was approached about checking out new material from SLEDD but I also started looking back at everything they’ve ever done and none of it has seen the light of day. Each project is impressive in its own right and SLEDD has grown with each project and their musicianship is skilled and top-notch. SLEDD is a really diverse band and their music is solid” – Bill Chavis, HVM

Under the terms of the deal, SLEDD is currently recording their latest effort titled “Get Rich Quick Scheme” with Don Lithgow at DML Studios in Wildomar, California for a 2014 first quarter release. In addition, the band has several unreleased projects that are also part of the agreement with HighVolMusic. Previous project titles include Insane Laughter, Crooked Smiles, Dopamine and we’re handled by Brian Wheat (Tesla) at J Street Studios, Mark Kendall (Great White), Al Pitrelli (Widowmaker, Savatage, Alice Cooper) respectively.

Further details and scheduled release dates will be announced but in the mean time checkout a couple of tracks from Insane Laughter and Get Rich Quick Scheme are streaming right here.

MONSTER TRUCK – Firstly, I want to thank my friend Maria Haskins for telling me about this mighty Canadian Hard Rock band that call themselves MONSTER TRUCK. As a fellow twitter fiend and ultra terrific writer/reviewer for the legendary Brian Basher over at Hard Rock Nights, Maria without question, knows her Heavy Rock ‘N Roll!

MONSTER TRUCK calls Hamilton, Ontario, Canada their home. Their new full-length studio album, Furiosity, was released on May 28th, 2013, via dine alone records. Please believe me, when I tell you I am extremely hard pressed to find anything I don’t like about this Furiosity album. This album could very well have been titled: Bad Ass Heavy Rock Rules. Hell yes, I’m not kidding. As 2013 (and any year for that matter) has rolled out more Hard Rock and Metal albums than I can possibly keep up with, Furiosity has risen to the top of my personal favorites heap.

A masterful fusion of Classic Hard Rock and Hard Rock 2013 is this album. The guitar shredding of Jeremy Widerman is mind-blowing! This is one guitarist of Hard Rock that should be on the cover of Guitar World… now. The vocals of Jon Harvey are tough as nails and give this band at least 50% of its bad ass character and sound. Jon Harvey plays a mean bass as well! Brandon Bliss on organ and vocals gives this album a downright wonderful Classic Hard Rock feel, sound and vibe. Steve Kiely on drums and vocals plays the songs and not for himself, making for a fabulous listen to just him alone. What a band!

The twelve songs on Furiosity are a listen into what steak and potatoes Hard Rock is supposed to sound like; both in yesteryear and in 2013. The riffs are there, the old school jams are there and the Hard Rock total package is exploding from Furiosity! Do not ponder purchasing Furiosity! MONSTER TRUCK is a band that has arrived, especially with their opening slot on the Canadian dates for the iconic Alice In Chains this past Summer, the reality of it all speaks for itself. Metal be thy name.

MODERN SUPERSTAR LAUNCH KICKSTARTER; NEW ALBUM THIS AUGUST

MODERN SUPERSTAR will be announcing summer/fall tour plans beginning in late August and have launched a Kickstarter campaign to assist them. View/pledge to the Kickstarter campaign here.

MODERN SUPERSTAR have finally wrapped up the recording their next release. They took some additional time to go back into the studio to record some additional tracks and the project is now being mixed and mastered by Ty Sims (Bombay Black). The yet to be titled project is set for an August release with a video to coincide.

Founder and former Bulletboys drummer Ryche Green, former ‘Regulators‘ guitarist Lorenzo ‘Zo ‘ Del Vecchio, former ’Brain Bucket’ bassist Mike Mackey, former ’Scrap Yard’ guitarist Mike Hatfield and former ’Razmataz’ vocalist Tommy Milan make up the band Modern Superstar.

As a group of well established musicians, The Beautifully Demolished have unleashed their 3 song, self-titled EP (HighVolMusic) upon the Heavy Rock world; and it’s like an invited funnel feeding my soul with deliciously intoxicating, Heavy F’n Rock ‘N Roll!! NIGHT RANGER – That’s it at the top! That really cool (and authentic) autographed photo of Night Ranger came to me, courtesy of Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale. Back in 2010, he went to see Night Ranger perform at the Wolf Den at Mohegan Sun in Uncasville, Connecticut.

Coverdale had a blast seeing Night Ranger live; he said they were pretty amazing that night. I believe him. I’ll also be thanking Coverdale for this really cool autographed photo, until I’m in my 90’s. Metal be thy name.

Back on June 21st, 2011, Somewhere In California, the tenth studio album from Night Ranger was released via Frontiers Records. I can admit without hesitation, that this Night Ranger album is one of the best from their catalog; if not the very best. Somewhere In California is a Night Ranger album that pumps up my Rock ‘N Roll adrenaline; what more could I possibly ask for from any album that I listen to? Metal be thy name.

’77 ‘High Decibels’ – Hard Rock That’s Old School & Damn Cool!

’77 – This Hard Rock band ’77 is from Barcelona Spain and man are they… Old School! The second studio album from ’77, High Decibels, is slated for a February 28th release on Listenable Records. This is an album of raw, riff infested and: “share a case o’ beer with your Metal buddy” style of Hard Rock. This is also Hard Rock to crank up in the car, on a long weekend cruise with your chick by your side. Blue collar Hard Rock never sounded so damn fun as ’77 does on High Decibels!

The incredible resemblance that Armand Valeta has vocally to the late Bon Scott is unreal. Musically ’77 does overflow with 70’s AC/DC sound, vibe and feel. With all the AC/DC comparisons aside, what ’77 does very well is they play their Hard Rock with credible passion and they write original songs. The more I’ve listened to High Decibels, the more I hear a band that is fired-up about Rock ‘N Roll and it’s a fever they can easily spread to Rockaholics worldwide like myself.

I am impressed by the old school Hard Rock allegiance that ’77 bestows in their brand of Hard Rock. Too often a band like this will get mocked for being a “rip-off” or dated. My response would be: It’s 77’s style of Rock ‘N Roll that’s spilling from their Rockin’ souls. Metal be thy name. My two favorite songs on High Decibels are: Backdoor Man and Since You’ve Been Gone. I highly dig the bluesy side of ’77’s Hard Rock! Bad-ass Classic Rock is here to stay with ’77 too.

High Decibels is an album where once you hit “play” that’s it. You can’t stop it until it’s over! It’s like a cool party that just got started… why would you want to end a good thing? If you’re a Hard Rock fan from any generation, you should mark ’77 down and make certain to add High Decibels to your “must need” list of good-times and ass kickin’ Rock ‘N Roll albums. Everyone’s album collection deserves a solid kick-in-the-ass and ’77 shall bring it.

Top Ten Hard Rock Albums Of 2011 – I have listened to many Hard Rock albums released during 2011. There seems to be quite a few Hard Rock albums that are of standout quality, this past year for me. With that said, my “Top Ten Hard Rock Albums Of 2011” simply cannot represent the totality of Hard Rockin’ thrills I’ve experienced with my ears these past 12 months.

What my Top Ten list does represent are the Hard Rock albums I turned to most often to play… LOUD! I lean towards the “complete” album of songs, an album that goes further than just 4 or 5 great tracks. I gravitate towards the Hard Rock albums that psyched-me-out and made me feel very damn good inside. These are the Hard Rock albums that made a difference to me. A personal list it is and hopefully there are a few here you may agree with. Thank you for visiting Metal Odyssey in 2011 and supporting Rock ‘N Roll! Yes, the return of MR. BIG left a big Hard Rockin’ impression on my ears. If ever there was an album that grew on me, over the course of time, then said album is What If… and it has served me right. Eric Martin’s vocals have never sounded better. Sound cliche? Not in my mind. On What If… Billy Sheehan (bass), Paul Gilbert (guitar) and Pat Torpey (drums) all sound as if there was never a recording break of ten years. Their seventh studio album may just be their best Hard Rock creation, in my honest opinion.

My favorite song from What If… is Undertow. Check out the music video of MR. BIG below, hopefully you’ll enjoy Undertow as much as I do!
