Novy, (former bassist of Behemoth and Vader) has recently recruited Against The Plagues‘ drummer, Varyen to help him complete the rhythm section of his new band Roads End. This is the first project that Novy has composed himself and he’s looking forward to having Varyen assist him in live situations. The two guys have known each other for a long time, having both grown up in the Polish Heavy Metal scene and have wanted to find a way to perform together. When asked about the direction of Roads End, Novy described the material as “American style Heavy Metal with an European soul.”
To aid in completing the band’s line-up, on next Tuesday, Sept. 27th, Roads End will begin the audition process for a permanent lead singer and lead guitarist. All pertinent details of the process will be found on Novy’s Facebook page: NOVY – bass guitar (facebook)
Individuals interested in auditioning should already have touring experience, their own equipment and ideally be in the Chicago, Illinois area or at least be willing to relocate. LOS ANGELES – FEARnet, cable television’s premier Horror, Thriller and Suspense Channel, has added Dee Snider (Twisted Sister, Strangeland, radio/television personality) and Oderus Urungus (Alien lead singer from legendary Heavy Metal band “GWAR”) to “Holliston”, an outrageous and offbeat multi-camera, half-hour buddy comedy series starring directors Adam Green (“Hatchet 1 & 2”, “Frozen”, “Chillerama”) and Joe Lynch (”Knights of Badassdom”, “Wrong Turn 2”, “Chillerama”). Created by Green, FEARnet recently gave the series a six-episode order and is slated to begin production in September.
“The Big Bang Theory” meets “Evil Dead II” series, set in the town of Holliston, MA, follows the lives of Adam and Joe, two friends chasing the dream of becoming successful Horror movie filmmakers while struggling to make ends meet in their post-college jobs at a Boston cable access station where they also host a late night movie program called “The Movie Crypt”.
“Both Dee Snider and Oderus Urungus exude the kind of larger than life personalities and elements that these characters were written for. Both are true performers down to their cores and the entire cast and crew are so excited to have them join our family in these very fun roles that were tailor-made for their sensibilities,” says Green.
Snider joins the cast as Green and Lynch’s boss who also happens to be a longtime member of a “Van Halen” tribute band. While he still dreams of being a Rock Star, he also takes the cable job very seriously and has delusions of grandeur of how he’s part of “Hollywood.” Urungus will play himself and is Green’s “imaginary” friend who happens to live in a closet and gives him advice (extremely misguided and offensive advice).
“’Holliston’ fits in perfectly with our current series. Dee and Oderus are excellent additions and build on a cast that could only be found on FEARnet,” said Peter Block, president, FEARnet. “Both are beloved by the genre fans and are just the first announcement in a list of thrilling casting to come”.
Snider and Urungus join Green and Lynch in an ensemble cast that also includes Laura Ortiz (“The Hills Have Eyes”, “Horton Hears A Who”) and Corri English (“Unrest”, “The Bedford Diaries”, lead singer of Brokedown Cadillac).
Created, written, and directed by Green, his production company ArieScope Pictures will handle the production of “Holliston.” Green and Lynch will serve as executive producers along with producer Cory Neal (“Frozen”, “Hatchet”).
“Holliston” is intended to take a slot on FEARnet’s Tuesday night “Twisted Comedy” block, a Horror-comedy lineup that consists of a distinctive pair of scripted series: “Todd & The Book of Pure Evil,” a supernatural high-school comedy featuring Jason Mewes (“Mallrats”, “Clerks”, “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back”) and “Psychoville”, an award-winning, British Black-Comedy thriller that centers on a group of characters haunted by a mysterious blackmailer.

Portland, Oregon’s Metal-Punk warriors TOXIC HOLOCAUST have teamed up with Cleveland, Ohio’s Midnight for a split 7” to benefit the victims of the Japanese tsunami disaster.
The 7” is limited to a one-time pressing of 1,000 copies on Japanese-flag colored heavy-weight vinyl, and features tracks from both bands (“A.T.O.M.I.C.” by TOXIC HOLOCAUST, “Destroy Tsunami’s Power” by Midnight) exclusive to this release. The split also features exclusive artwork by Daniel “Sawblade” Shaw (TOXIC HOLOCAUST, Insect Warfare, Coffins). SPEEDPIG – They’re raw. They’re Metal. They’re Stoner Metal. They’re a bit traditional with their Metal style. They’re underground… and they’re undisputedly on fire! SPEEDPIG is a ‘two man Stoner Metal tour-de-force’ as they call themselves on their website. Gaz and Mungo are their names. Bridgend, South Wales is where this diy Stoner Metal duo calls home and they are looking to invade all shores with their terrificly memorable EP aptly titled: Hog Roast In Hell. Yes, these two lads from the other side of the Atlantic can play some Metal and it sounds like they have a monumental ton of fun with it along the way.
Having SPEEDPIG cross my Metal path is reassuring in a way, that not all bands these days are trying to make a statement as to how clever they really are with “concept albums” or (enough already) deeply enriched themes taken from “reality”. Instead, Gaz and Mungo have created some Metal that you can crank the hell up after you’ve just called in sick and ordered pizza for breakfast. This is Metal you can crank up in the open field with a bonfire and keg of beers aplenty.
You don’t need a Berkley School of Music degree to understand that Metal needs to return to the days when songs were memorable and not boastfully epic length. Making songs that inevitably will have Metalheads playing loud should be the rule and not the exception. SPEEDPIG gets this. I advice my fellow Metalheads to play Hog Roast In Hell very loud, um, Metal be thy name.
This SPEEDPIG EP keeps a constant fired up tempo, while delivering a vibe & soul that is old school denim and leather. Hog Roast In Hell is all about the riff baby… and plenty of impressive shredding abounds too. The vocals of Gaz are a refreshing experience, one that reminds me of maybe how the late and legendary Bon Scott would sound if he decided to go hell-bent for leather on some smokin’ Stoner Metal.
I’ve enjoyed what SPEEDPIG has delivered with Hog Roast In Hell and look forward to their future Metal output. SPEEDPIG qualifies as a candidate for not only Stoner Metal fans to get into, Traditional Metal and Metal fans should find this talented duo just as bad-ass too. Get into the pig now, so you can tell all your friends down the Metal road that you were there when this Hog Roast In Hell started burning up!

Arizona thrashers HEMOPTYSIS have made a trailer for their newest video available online at this location. The video, for the track “M.O.D.”, taken from their album Misanthropic Slaughter was shot earlier this month in an abandon warehouse in Vail, AZ. Production and direction came courtesy of Sean Sinerius and Robert Jaime at Big Shot Studios, who previously worked with HEMOPTYSIS on the “Shadow of Death” video. The band plans to release the video this fall.

Los Angeles, California-based extreme Progressive Metal band ANA KEFR (Arabic, meaning “I am Infidel”) have been forced to replace their Tupelo, Mississippi date on their upcoming Zephyr US National Tour due to discrimination. ANA KEFR, whose music is complimented by lyrical themes of militant atheism and humanist philosophy, have been deemed unwelcome by venues local to Tupelo, one of the band’s handful of scheduled dates in the Bible Belt.
Commented ANA KEFR frontman Rhiis D. Lopez: “We’re seriously disappointed that we’ve been forced to re-schedule our October 11 date in Tupelo, and apologize to fans who were planning to attend. This was to be a benefit show, organized by a local non-profit organization to raise relief funds for victims of natural disasters in Mississippi. There were 3 other bands scheduled to support us on the show and now all 4 bands have found themselves shut out from the opportunity. Apparently, to the owner of Good Time Charlie’s and numerous others who flooded the promoter with hate and intolerance on our account, aiding victims of natural disasters is trumped by whether or not one believes in their merciful and benevolent religion. Their vicious stupidity only further strengthens and reinforces the truth of ANA KEFR, and it is a shame that faith must come before charity and philanthropy.”

ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will begin recording their third full-length album today, (September 15, 2011). The process begins in the band’s new home of Southern California as the band enter Keene Machine Studios with The Faceless’ Michael Keene and band frontman Ken Sorceron engineering. Former ABIGAIL WILLIAMS and Black Dahlia Murder drummer Zach Gibson will be playing on the album, as previous band mate Ken Bedene focuses on The Aborted.
“We are very excited to announce the start of drum tracking for our third full-length. Drummer Zach Gibson will be behind the kit on this record, which is exciting for us because we have not recorded with him since the Legend EP,” states Sorceron. Having recently returned from a short ten date regional tour tightening up their new five-piece line-up, the band’s ranks and sound continue to evolve and this third effort is no different. “Expect some interesting twists and turns once again with this album as we plan to double track some of the drums and some of the compositions are quite lengthy, one even reaching the 15-minute plus range. This will prove to be our most epic material to date,” teases Sorceron as to the direction of the new material. “We plan to video our progress and upload video blogs as we go.”
ABIGAIL WILLIAMS will continue recording the new album over the next month, set for completion in late October before embarking on their previously announced North American tour supporting Norway’s legendary Mayhem. The new album has an anticipated January release, followed by additional U.S. tours supporting Dark Funeral and then Deicide.

MORBID ANGEL – Death Metal legends/pioneers Morbid Angel are back and nothing is gonna stand in their way. Morbid Angel has released their first full-length studio album in 8 years with Illud Divinum Insanus, released on June 7th, 2011 on Season of Mist. While this album is an experimental approach musically for Morbid Angel, the impressive constants I hear are the muscularity of Metal and Death Metal roots of this fierce band. This new Morbid Angel album also marks the return of the legendary David Vincent, aka Mr. Vincent on vocals, bass and keyboards.

THE POODLES – The song I Want It All by Sweden’s very famous Hard Rockin’ and Heavy Metalin’ band, The Poodles, has it all. Uplifting with its melodic vibrations and inspirational with its lyrics, I Want It All is a song that has motivated me recently, while trying to deal with crap that life sometimes throws my way. Take a listen to I Want It All for yourself below and maybe this is the song you need to pick yourself up with today.
I Want It All is the opening track from The Poodles 4th studio album: Performocracy. I’ve written before about this Performocracy album and I can’t recommend it highly enough. In my Metal opinion, The Poodles have released one of the years best in Melodic Heavy Metal/Hard Rock albums. Jakob Samuel on vocals is as underrated as they come and this band plays some damn memorable songs on Performocracy.
Performocracy was released in North America on May 3rd, 2011, via FRONTIERS RECORDS.

The Italian Dark Metal outfit GRAVEWORM have uploaded the first album trailer for the upcoming record “Fragments Of Death”. Stefano Fiori is talking about the recordings and the cover artwork of this new masterpiece!

The album was recorded in July 2011 at the “Dream Sound Studios” in Munich, and mastered by Jan Vacik. The songs are about the death in its thousand faces, which is also reflected in the album title and cover art. ALICE COOPER – As with the new Anthrax studio album (Worship Music), the new Alice Cooper album Welcome 2 My Nightmare releases on Tuesday, September 13th, 2011. Call this “Super Heavy Metal Tuesday” or what! I never was offered any free promos of the new Anthrax or Alice Cooper, so I’ll be buying them both on Tuesday. (Apparently Metal Odyssey isn’t that famous and cool yet). Quite frankly I am more than willing to shell out the money for brand new Anthrax and Alice Cooper albums. It’s all about “supporting your bands” anyhow and I’ve strived to show strong support over the course of time for both Anthrax and Alice Cooper.
Will I do an album review for the new Alice Cooper album? I guess if I feel like it. Will I do an album review for the new Anthrax? Again, If I feel like it. Since the record companies and/or PR people for both Anthrax and Alice Cooper don’t want to get in touch with Stone, I’m in no hurry to review ’em. We’ll see what happens. I’m predicting I’ll be pleased with both though… I hope. For now, the FREE publicity is right here for both the record companies and bands… yippeee! Isn’t Stone such a swell guy?

Commented Kosher Metal founder, and on-air personality, ManJewky: “It’s a tough world out there for unsigned and independent Metal bands, but we at Kosher Metal are doing everything we can to help get these bands heard. I have been on both sides of the spectrum. I have been in bands but I’ve also done a lot of work on the business end of things. With all of my knowledge and experience, it would be a shame to let that go to waste. Besides, I want to be able to provide some opportunities that my old bands never had.”

Kosher Metal is an online radio station that can be heard via the web and most smartphones. It started as a weekly radio program in June 2010 and became a 24 hour operation in April of 2011. Kosher Metal founder and on-air personality, ManJewky, is a recent product of the Music Business Program at Musicians Institute in Hollywood, CA.
