Massacre Records Classix Shape Edition is a series of 10 die-cut CD’s. This ANVIL five song compilation is #10 in the series, released back in 1999.
I bought this CD in used condition, about 10 years ago, at an independent record store that’s no longer in business. If I remember correctly, the price I paid for this ANVIL gem was below 10 dollars. You can find this CD online for 15 dollars or lower, right now. It doesn’t have a front cover in the jewel case, with liner notes only on the back cover. I’m unsure if a front cover existed and still researching if one did.
I never played this oddity either in my car CD player or my home stereo system; for fear of a mishap due to its unique die-cut shape. Written on the back cover, it states: “Not suitable for disc changers and car CD players.”
Its existence as a collectible is good enough for me!

The CD itself is in fabulous condition, with no scratches or signs of wear. Looks like any prior owner didn’t take a chance playing it either.
Letters of each volume (10 in all) of this series, on the CD spines, together in order spell: METAL&MORE. Thank you for checking out my ANVIL CD and visiting Metal Odyssey. I appreciate every visitor! Metal be thy name. – Stone
After bringing early recordings from Twilight Moon and Degenerate back to life, Finnish metal icon Mathias Lillmåns, known by most as the vocalist of Finntroll and …And Oceans, now unveils the central monument of his archive project: the most expansive collection of recovered material to date. Together with the release of the album, also out now is the video of the song “Sanguine Sadism“.
With Remains, released Friday 28.11.2025 via Stormbound Records, Mathias Lillmåns presents the first full-length retrospective of his early, unreleased and long-forgotten recordings: a 17-track anthology spanning material from the bands Twilight Moon, Remains, Degenerate, Chthonian, Vere and Observant.
Where the earlier archival EPs gave glimpses into Lillmåns’ formative years, Remains is the complete excavation – a three-decade timeline of raw beginnings, stylistic pivots and the gradual emergence of the voice that would later become a defining part of modern Finnish metal.
“Most listeners see me as a singer”, says Lillmåns, “but with this compilation I wanted to show the transformation I went through, from being an instrumentalist that wanted to stay in the shadows to becoming the front man I’m known as today.”
Drawing from sessions some of which were presumed lost to time – rescued from basements, rediscovered on MiniDiscs, pulled from unlabeled tapes and forgotten hard drives, Remains is an inspiring musical story of trial, instinct and evolution. Across these recordings, listeners will hear Lillmåns finding his voice, from early bass-only roles, to reluctant vocalist, to a fully realized frontman.
For listeners who want deeper context, the CD edition includes personal liner notes by Lillmåns himself. He recounts the improvised reel-to-reel beginnings of Twilight Moon, the garage-recorded rawness of Remains, and the early studio ambitions of Degenerate. He reflects on the intentionally abrasive spirit of Chthonian, the one-night whirlwind that became Vere, and the sharpened, self-produced approach of Observant. Together, these notes sketch a concise but revealing portrait of the creative evolution that shaped his earliest years.
TRACK-LIST: 01 Twilight Moon – Wanderlust 02 Twilight Moon – Spirit Lord 03 Twilight Moon – Shattered Reflections 04 Twilight Moon – Stuck in Eternity (Live 1999) 05 Remains – Forced into Lies 06 Remains – Leaving the Path of the Blind 07 Remains – The Life That Passed (Slowly Fading) 08 Degenerate – Blinded 09 Degenerate – Displacement 10 Degenerate – Lost in Glass and Stone 11 Chthonian – Ill 12 Chthonian – Larvae, Nymph, Decay 13 Chthonian – Sanguine Sadism 14 Vere – The Silver Lining 15 Vere – Ignite, Enflame 16 Observant – As Corroded as You 17 Observant – Still Nameless

In celebration of the one-year anniversary of The Last Will and Testament, OPETH is proud to unveil a brand-new animated video crafted to bring the album’s intricate story to life. Created by Absynthe Moon Media, the film offers a visual interpretation of the narrative that has intrigued fans since the record’s release in November 2024.
The animated music video for“§3“returns to the central family story at the heart of the album. Set during the reading of a 1920s patriarch’s will, the video captures the shifting relationships and subtle tensions that shape the storyline, while allowing viewers to interpret the finer details for themselves.
Guided by Mikael Åkerfeldt’s story and concept, the visual narrative enhances the album’s core themes: identity fractured by lies, legacies built on instability, and the slow unraveling of those who once believed they understood their place within the family. The result is a stirring and immersive complement to one of OPETH’s most ambitious works.

Finnish thrashers Krushor are set to release their debut EP Taste of Hatred on January 9th 2026 via Inverse Records. The second single “Taste of Hatred” is unleashed now and it’s available here: https://push.fm/fl/krushor-taste
The band comments: “Taste of hatred is about a situation where a person takes a stand for someone who’s pushed ’em down long enough to make that person retaliate. What happens, when beaten and oppressed person decides to stand their ground and says they’ve had enough and gives back all they had to endure. What kind is this persons actual hatred if just a taste of it can turn tables and make the one who made them suffer have taste of their own medicine.”

BIOGRAPHY:
The band found its current identity through shared musical tastes, playing together, and a shared hobby. We are a group of people who enjoy making and playing music that works for all of us. A big part of this is that composing, writing lyrics, and editing songs is open to everyone. All songs and compositions are created by the whole group, not based on one person’s vision or goal.
Our influences definitely come from older metal, but that doesn’t matter, because mixing genres actually adds a lot to our music, there’s no one right way to do things. Krushor’s goal is to make music that sounds good and at the same time talk about the difficult things that are part of life. For many people, music can be therapeutic, and if even one person feels that way about our music, we feel we have succeeded.

The veteran likes of Saxon, Diamond Head, and Motörhead (three of Metallica’s favorite bands), are joined by rising stars such as Tailgunner and Swedish prog metallers Soen to create a who’s who of heavy music, with each performer lending their unique sound to one classic track. The Almighty deliver a particularly confrontational cover of “The Four Horsemen,” a release that saw the hard rockers return to the studio with their founding lineup for the first time since 1991.
Contributions from thrash giants Testament, ex-Megadeth bassist David Ellefson, and New Wave Of British Heavy Metal linchpins Tygers Of Pan Tang show the label looking beyond their own artists to amass the greatest lineup possible. Joining the super star lineup are the legendary Raven (closing with the thundering anthemic “Metal Militia”) who were part of Metallica’s first-ever tour, 1983’s famous Kill ‘Em All For One venture.

BLOOD OF ANGELS returns with their powerful new single “Minds of the Broken,” offering a gripping preview of their upcoming concept album Les Agnst ov Thanatou. Known for their dynamic fusion of melodic death metal, blackened atmospheres, and thought provoking lyrical themes, the band continues to expand their creative vision while delivering the intensity that has earned them international acclaim.
Their forthcoming album was written during a period marked by uncertainty, isolation, and widespread loss, and its emotional gravity can be felt throughout every track. Les Agnst ov Thanatou explores the universal human struggle with mortality, the rituals surrounding death, and the emotional aftermath that binds the living to the departed.
Each song examines a different aspect of how we experience grief and the ways death shapes the human psyche. From orchestral tension to dissonant melodic textures, the album blends brutality with introspection and dives into new musical terrain for the band.
“Minds of the Broken,” written by vocalist Randy Reyes, focuses on the internal devastation carried by soldiers returning from the war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. Reyes drew inspiration from friends who survived the battlefield yet continue to struggle with the psychological toll of war. The song captures insomnia, survivor’s guilt, and the haunting memories of fallen comrades.
Crushing riffs collide with tense, atmospheric passages that mirror the instability of a mind fighting battles long after the war has ended. Percussion patterns evoke the sudden shock of flashbacks while layered melodies summon memories that refuse to fade. Reyes delivers a vocal performance shaped by despair, anger and the quiet torment of those living with invisible scars.
The album was tracked at Underground Studios in Tampa, Florida with engineer Bob Noxious, whose punk background added a fresh edge to the recording process. Mixing was handled by Preston DiCarlo at Mastersound Studios and the final mastering touch was completed at Soundlab Studios in New York City, giving the record its polished and immersive sound.
“Minds of the Broken” stands as one of the most emotionally charged moments on Les Agnst ov Thanatou, a reminder that some battles never truly end. BLOOD OF ANGELS invites listeners to confront the darkest corners of the human experience and to emerge transformed. The full album is set for release in the summer of 2026.

Since their formation in 1993 in Austria, BELPHEGOR have stood as one of the most brutal and transgressive forces in black death metal. Founded by vocalist and guitarist Helmuth Lehner, the band has spent over three decades refining a sound forged in fire and sacrilege, merging the violent precision of death metal with the ritualistic darkness of black metal. Their musick is an invocation of infernal power, a soundwall of relentless blasphemy.
Following the acclaimed release of their latest album Wild Dogs Unchained, via Massacre Records, legendary US heavy metal power trio THE RODS have unveiled the new video for “Tears for the Innocent.” A haunting and emotionally charged track, which stands as one of the most poignant moments on the record.
Written and sung by guitarist/vocalist David “Rock” Feinstein, “Tears for the Innocent” is a heartfelt reflection on the devastation of war and the human suffering it leaves behind.
“This song is about senseless war, and the innocent people that die because of it,” explains Feinstein. “We cry for those innocent people and feel sorry for what they have lost. Their homes, their land, their lives.”
With its powerful message and stirring melodies, “Tears for the Innocent” showcases THE RODS’ timeless ability to merge heavy riffs with genuine emotion. A reminder that classic metal can still carry deep meaning and conscience.
The new video follows the release of Wild Dogs Unchained, a record that redefines the band’s legacy with renewed fire and uncompromising energy.

Montréal’s PHOBOCOSM has released a new song off their forthcoming album, Gateway. “Unbound” marks the album’s second single. Stream it now at www.youtube.com/watch?v=TaA1nNAyQus
Dark Descent Records will release Gateway on CD, vinyl, cassette and digital formats on November 28.
Gateway stands as an unrelenting and eldritch death metal opus that seals one chapter while unveiling the next. The album includes material from every songwriting period of the band, some of it dating back to the Deprived and Bringer of Drought eras, as well as Foreordained, of course,” explains guitarist Samuel Dufour.
Gateway was recorded, mixed, and mastered by long-time collaborator Xavier Berthiaume (Gevurah, Sanctvs) during the same session as Foreordained, giving the two records a consistent sonic throughline while allowing Gateway to close established narratives.
“We view it as the closing of a chapter for the band,” Dufour continues. “Not that our future material will be completely different from our existing material, far from it, but we have decided to do things a little differently next time around by adding new elements that haven’t appeared in our music before, exploring different dynamics and experimenting with a new tuning.”
Thematically, Gateway grows from ideas first explored on Foreordained: “The song ‘Revival’ from Foreordained inspired the album’s theme, which is the fact that humans have been trying to live forever – or to unnaturally prolong life – since the dawn of time, often for reasons even more absurd than the pursuit of eternal life itself,” elaborates Dufour.
“We used this as the main theme and pushed the concept further, exploring the most repulsive forms of cruelty humans are capable of, even when using science as a means to prolong barbarity against their enemies.”
Visually, the album continues PHOBOCOSM’s collaboration with Lauri Laaksonen (Desolate Shrine, Convocation, Pestilent Hex). “From looking at it, one can see that it is a gateway to something ominous, but what lies beyond is up to the listener.”
“After 12 years in Arch Enemy, we have parted ways. I am forever thankful to the thousands of amazing fans I have met along the way. Thank you, Beastlings! I can’t wait to share what I have been working on with you all (with some big surprises in store). Stay tuned for big news in 2026 and see you very soon.”
From Alissa White-Gluz Facebook, regarding her new solo music video:
“I hope you love this first offering from my upcoming solo album. You can watch the whole video on my YouTube Channel.”
“The Room Where She Died is a song that feels truly satisfying to me; like I get to express myself in so many ways that have been dormant for years. This upcoming album is diverse; and I love the idea of opening up this new chapter with this song and video, which I wrote the script for.”
“Can’t wait to share more with you!”

RICHMOND, Va. – Lamb of God have released “Parasocial Christ” (https://lamb-of-god.lnk.to/ParasocialChrist), a relentless three-minute assault that once again pairs the Richmond metal titans with longtime producer Josh Wilbur. The standalone single follows “Sepsis,” which has dominated the U.S. metal charts for the past two weeks.
The song arrives alongside a stark, desaturated video directed by Jon Vulpine, whose unsettling visual style mirrors the track’s intensity as it captures a man’s descent into madness.
“The Information Age has birthed the attention economy, an industry worth hundreds of billions of dollars anchored in keeping eyeballs firmly glued to screens, thus generating ad revenue. Every second spent clicking and scrolling through the trivial and/or sordid details of other people’s lives, people that you will most likely never meet- celebrities, politicians, influencers- is another dollar in some already obscenely wealthy tech bro’s wallet,” Randy Blytheshares about the themes behind the track.
“You are a product, and you are being sold in a marketplace you have no share in. The irony of you reading this some social media platform or music news aggregator site is not lost on me; nevertheless I hope this song might make you consider who and what you give your attention to. Fuck the clickbait, put down the phone, go live your life- it’s waiting for you out in what’s left of the real world.”
The arrival of “Parasocial Christ” coincides with the on-sale for Lamb of God’s Spring 2026 North American tour, featuring support from Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg. Tickets and VIP packages are available now via Lamb-of-god.com/tour.
“We are beyond thrilled to announce the loudest, proudest, floor shakin’-est, earth quakin’-est, ear-splittin’-est, mosh pittin’-est, undiluted, undisputed HEAVIEST tour of the whole damn year,” Mark Morton said earlier this week as the band announced the trek. “Is this the largest collection of RIFFS ever assembled under one roof? It would seem so. Lamb of God, Kublai Khan TX, Fit For An Autopsy, and Sanguisugabogg. Do not miss this shit.”

Manchester, UK; 21 November 2025:Offal Fest, dedicated to the most extreme sounds in gore, grind, slam and brutal death metal, has secured two monumental UK-exclusive headlining performances and unveiled its (nearly) full 2026 line-up.
Brutal slamming death metal pioneers Devourment are confirmed to headline the Saturday night, bringing a UK-exclusive set to the Manchester stage. Joining them as the Sunday headliners, making their first-ever UK appearance for a special exclusive performance, are Ohio brutal death metal powerhouse, Regurgitation.
The all-star international roster is significantly bolstered by the addition of New York brutal death metal legends ImmortalSuffering, who will be returning to the UK next year for an exclusive performance. Anyone who caught their incredible performance earlier this year already knows the sheer ferocity they bring to the stage.
Offal Fest continues its tradition of championing outstanding international extreme talent, welcoming a substantial wave of European and Asian heavy-hitters. This includes insane Italian talent with Unbirth and Inverecund, Butcher ABC from Japan and Fecundation from Korea. Guttural Slug from Denmark will return after their crushing live debut at the first iteration of Offal Fest, and the international bill is rounded out by Darkall Slaves hailing from France and Kakothanasy from Switzerland, both performing a UK exclusive set.
The line-up is also packed with outstanding UK and Irish talent, including the “wobble-box superstars” Crepitation, who will be headlining the pre-show, alongside Irish acts StrangleWire and one-man gorenoise chaos Lymphoeadema. Completing the UK contingent are OvulatingCadaver, Repulsed and Dissolving Entity, all adding to the ferocious three-day experience.
They join the previously announced mix of established and rising acts in the extreme metal scene. Scottish brutal death metal band Laceration, London-based brutal death metal band Twitch Of The Death Nerve, Czech brutal death metal band Epicardiectomy, Greek three-piece brutal death metallers Embryectomy, Glaswegian five-piece death metal band Scordatura, veteran US brutal death metal band Lividity, the long-awaited reunion of UK brutal death metal band Infected Disarray, Manchester newcomers Disgracing, who made their live debut at this year’s Offal and Manchester four-piece Brutal Death Metal band Coprocephalic Mutation will be returning to the fest in 2026.
Fans should note that while the full line-up is confirmed, there is one TBC spot at the bottom of the poster, with more information to be announced very soon on social channels; day splits will also be announced at a later date.
Rancid Offal Promotions, the team behind Goremageddon and Offal Fest, said: “We are excited to finally drop the full line-up for Offal! We knew we had to go absolutely huge this year, building on this year’s massive success. So, locking down Devourment for a UK exclusive and getting Regurgitation over for their first-ever UK gig is just insane. We’ve managed to pull in extreme talent from all over the world – Japan, Korea, Europe – alongside the best of the UK, Irish and local scenes. Get ready for three days of utter brutality next year in the new home of extreme metal; Manchester!”
Offal Fest 2025 was a sold-out success. The event featured the likes of Foetal Juice, 357 Homicide, a UK exclusive performance by Skinless, who performed their album “Progression Towards Evil” in full, a UK exclusive set from Begging For Incest, exclusive co-headlining sets by Defeated Sanity and Wormed, as well as exclusive performances from Imperious Mortality, Plasma, Cerebral Effusion and 55Gore.
