VALDUR – Long-Running Alpine Black/Death Conjurors Confirm Details Of Imminent New Full-Length

Alpine Black/Death conjurors, VALDUR, have confirmed preliminary details of their impending new full-length. Dubbed At War With, the follow-up to the band’s 2010-released Raven Gods Among Us, was recorded at Earhammer Studio with Greg Wilkinson at the helm and is currently being mastered by Michael Z. (Secrets of the Moon, Ascension) at Source Studios and boasts ten psalms of sonic repugnance.

States drummer Matthew bluntly, “I’m not very comfortable trying to put VALDUR’s music into words, but I think that what is important is that we have the luxury of doing what we want, when we want… and in the end, it will be our music and artwork that will do all the talking.”

Crowned “the best black metal band in the United States that you’ve probably never heard of,” by About.com and featuring past and current members of Weverin, Endless Blizzard and Plutocracy, VALDUR was forged at the turn of the century in a small mountain town located in the pulsating heart of the Sierra Mountain Range near the Nevada border. MAMMOTH GRINDER – Declares New Live Actions

Following several other live runs, first bashing a trail across Australia on their first tour of that continent, followed by a tour of the West Coast US including a performance at The Power Of The Riff, Texas brutalizers MAMMOTH GRINDER have declared new live actions for the coming weeks.

These new melees will begin to transpire across North America this weekend, as the MAMMOTH GRINDER crew raids Canada for shows in Montreal this Thursday, November 14th and Toronto on Friday the 15th. Next month they’ll head back out on a trek kicking off December 14th at the first annual Denver Black Sky Festival joining Dying Fetus, Ghoul, Exhumed, Skinless, Power Trip, Weekend Nachos, Iron Reagan and a pile of others. From there MAMMOTH GRINDER will rip through the Midwest and Gulf Coast states with nine more shows with Power Trip, also sharing the stage with Iron Reagan, Windhand and more along the way. The band is currently devising additional tour plans for early 2014.

TIDAL ARMS – Flood The Airwaves With “Molasses;” Song Proceeds To Aid In The Restoration Of Hurricane Sandy-Ravaged Translator Audio And The South Sound Rehearsal Studio

Brooklyn drone-strewn noise rock threesome, TIDAL ARMS, hurl forth another canticle from their forthcoming new self-titled full-length. Titled “Molasses,” the tune — based on the Great Molasses Flood, a real event where a massive tidal wave of molasses destroyed a large area of Boston’s North End in 1919 — is currently monopolizing the airwaves courtesy of Vice/Noisey. All proceeds raised from the sale of the song will be used to help restore Brooklyn’s Translator Audio and The South Sound rehearsal studios, which were destroyed in Hurricane Sandy last year.

Relays guitarist/vocalist Tom Tierney, “Andrew Schneider from Translator Audio has made some of our favorite records, recorded our first 7″ and mixed [TIDAL ARMS debut] The Sun Exploding, and shares our love for the bizarre story of the Molasses Flood. His studio, Translator Audio and The South Sound rehearsal studios, were tragically destroyed in Hurricane Sandy. They’re starting over, and we’re releasing ‘Molasses’ as a fundraiser for the rebuild. Proceeds from the sale of the song go to Translator Audio and The South Sound.”

Describes Noisey of the track, “‘Molasses’ is like a five course meal of musical genres. At first, the song starts off with an ambient spacey vibe before shifting gears into droney, stoner rock. Then all of a sudden, by the fourth minute, we are knee-deep in doomy sludge metal. Subtle changes maybe, but enough to make it feel less like a song and more like a journey through the Lands of Heavy-Ass Rock.”

Discordant yet catchy and doused in angular riff cascades, celestial interludes and the penetrating vocal rants of Tierney, TIDAL ARMS integrate various elements of post-hardcore, noise rock and doom into their heaviest, most ethereal creation yet.

BEHEMOTH – ANNOUNCES NEW VIDEO, 12” AND SINGLE OFF “THE SATANIST”

A first new sign of life from Polish Black/Death Metal legends BEHEMOTH comes in form of the song Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel of their upcoming new record The Satanist.

BEHEMOTH – The album was produced by BEHEMOTH, Wojtek and Slawek Wieslawscy and Daniel Bergstrand in Hertz Studio. The Satanist was mixed by Matt Hyde (SLAYER) and mastered by Ted Jensen (METALLICA, AC/DC) at Sterling Sound. The cover art, which will also be revealed on December 4th, is a painting by renowned Russian painter and occultist, Denis Forkas. For the cover, Nergal’s own blood was included in the paint. Additional artwork was handled by Metastazis and Zbigniew Bielak.

The Grupa 13 produced video for Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel will also be released on December 4th. The teaser for the video can be seen now here:

The limited edition (2,000 copies: 1,000 white and 1,000 black, 180 gram vinyl) 12″ EP of Blow Your Trumpets Gabriel will be released on December 4, 2013 via BEHEMOTH /New Aeon Musick in Europe and will be released as a gatefold, with each copy hand numbered and signed by the band.

The 12″ EP can be pre-ordered via BEHEMOTH’s webstore (white vinyl and black vinyl) and will contain the first single off of The Satanist, plus two non-album tracks: If I Were Cain and a cover from Polish Post-Punk New Wave legendary band SIEKIERA – Ludzie Wschodu. Chicago Blackened Death Thrash troupe, IMMORTAL BIRD, are pleased to announce the release of their debut EP. Titled Akrasia, the abrasive manifestation of audio filth was recorded at Lo-Tech Laboratories this past summer by unsung Windy City sound sorcerer Jeff Ziolo, mixed by Kurt Ballou (Converge, Isis, High On Fire, Skeletonwitch) at Godcity Studio, mastered by Brad Boatright (Sleep, From Ashes Rise, Nails, All Pigs Must Die) at Audiosiege and delivers four scathingly visceral tracks of torment. Led by the diseased vocal oscillations of drummer/front woman Rae Amitay, IMMORTAL BIRD is at once celestial and deadly.

Comments Amitay of the offering:“‘Akrasia’ is the state of acting against one’s better judgment, or weakness of will. The EP is centered around this concept, and the tracks serve to explore feelings of rage, resentment, and anguish that have resulted from ‘akratic’ behavior — mostly my own. The riffs, lyrics, and overall tone are meant to reflect both intensely caustic anger and moments of poignant self-realization. Writing and recording this EP was initially intended to be a cathartic and one-time experience, signifying the beginning and the end of IMMORTAL BIRD, but after collaborating with my bandmates and performing live, I’ve realized that this is a project that will press onward both in the studio and on the road. I feel incredibly fortunate to have been able to work with Kurt Ballou and Brad Boatright, as they’re complete commanders of their craft. This music could not have been placed in better hands, and that is an amazing feeling.”

IMMORTAL BIRD took its perverted form when drummer Rae Amitay (Thrawsunblat) yearned to step out from behind the confines of her drum kit, write some riffs and scream. With those dreams in tow, she enlisted the help of longtime friend/guitarist Evan Berry (Wilderun, Replacire) and bassist John Picillo. With Amitay opting to handle the mic onstage (while tackling drums and vocals on their albums), Garry Naples (Novembers Doom, Kastasyde, Without Waves) was recruited to take on all live drumming duties.

I had no idea about the existence of such a dark and venomous Death Metal advocate, such as Demonstealer. Now I do know and I’m a better night dweller for it.

If you think the album cover art screams bloody-cruel Death Metal nightmares from Hell… wait till you listen to this album! Yes, this is a substantial case where one can judge an album by its cover for the better. REPTILIAN DEATH have created one of the best Death Metal albums I’ve had the privilege to listen to during 2013; while standing up to being one of the best Death Metal albums I’ve ever heard. Sometimes the best Metal surprises of 2013 come in the most dark and wicked of packages.

Make NO Metal mistake, REPTILIAN DEATH are not taking any prisoners with their Death Metal. This amazing Death Metal band from Mumbai (also known as Bombay) India, justifiably has my Metal endorsement and I’m not letting go! Relentless, furious, (of course, evil) and brain stinging Death Metal is all I hear on The Dawn Of Consummation And Emergence. The critically adored new SKELETONWITCH offering, Serpents Unleashed, debuted on this week’s Billboard 200 at #62, marking the highest chart position of the band’s career! The record’s first-week sales marked a 68% jump from those of its 2011 predecessor, Forever Abomination.

Additionally, Serpents Unleashed debuted at #5 on this week’s Vinyl Albums chart, #7 on the Hard Rock Albums chart, #10 on the Independent Albums chart, #17 on the Internet Albums chart and #20 on the Rock Albums chart. Serpents Unleashed also debuted on the Top Current Albums chart at #87 in Canada, where the album reached #11 on the Hard Music chart as well.

Formed in Ohio a decade ago, SKELETONWITCH has received considerable acclaim for its trademark “blackened metal,” which Metal Hammer calls, “a potent brew of everything that makes metal so brilliant, vital and special.” The group’s relentless work ethic — personified by a 63-concerts-in-65-days test of endurance last year — is second to none in the genre, and true to form, the band is currently in the midst of an extensive North American tour with The Black Dahlia Murder. SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE – “Featuring Dr. Gruesome And The Gruesome Gory Horror Show” – Album Review

3.5 Out Of 5 METAL Fists!

SNOW WHITE’S POISON BITE – Somewhere along my Metal life, the combination of Horror and Rock ‘N Roll has snagged a part of my Metal soul and refuses to leave. Cool. Case in point: this past Summer, I picked up the new CD from Finland’s Snow White’s Poison Bite, with its lengthy (yet cool) title: Featuring Dr. Gruesome And The Gruesome Gory Horror Show (Victory Records). I bought this CD without hearing a single note from it; the cover artwork sold itself!

If there is one dilemma I have with Snow White’s Poison Bite, it’s I wish they would settle on what sound they truly want to be famous for. These guys play (and Jeremy Thirteenth sings) Punk, Alternative, Extreme and Metal very well; only it’s the mixed bag of genres that distracts me; I sincerely want to be floored by this CD, only the change in musical styles has me asking: how does this band want to be labeled? If this Horror Crew wanted to just play straight-up (toasted cheese sandwich and beer) Horror Punk, saving the extremity and slivers of emo vocals for another day, then I’d do a naked jig clear across the beautiful state of Ohio. Yup.

For the Metal money, this is a (gasp) FUN CD to listen to and the song titles should pretty much give that away. I am totally down with what Snow White’s Poison Bite have done with the marketing of their band, from the artwork to their Horror Punk attire and makeup. This is a rowdy CD, which adds an important plus to my liking it. I absolutely dig the creepy spoken words on both the intro (track 1) and ending (track 10) to this CD.

The legendary (former) Misfits frontman, Michael Graves, is featured on Zombie Romance. The (unexpected) 1950’s Doo Wop and Shoo Bop experience this song initially introduces only gives way to an even more delectable dish of creepy Horror Punk, making this song my favorite of the track list. At the end of my Metal day, I do recommend this CD to Horror Punk fans and Alternative (Heavy Rock) fans alike. Metal be thy name.

“Tres Cabrones is as close as we’re willing to get to the Melvins 1983 line-up,” explained Osborne, of the 12-song album that reunites him, Dale Crover and original drummer Mike Dillard. “The best part is it’s all new songs. I specifically wrote tunes that would be good for these guys to play and it worked out great. We had no interest in rehashing tunes we wrote 30 years ago and chose instead to simply create NEW songs. It worked out perfectly.”

“Making the Tres Cabrones record was a real treat indeed. It’s a trip down memory lane complete with debauchery and ultra violence, ” said Dillard, who left the band in 1984 only to be replaced by Crover.

“After 30 years we release a record with the (almost) original line-up of the band,” added Crover. “I’ve always felt that drummer Mike Dillard was one of us. It’s great that he’s still a piece of the puzzle! Plus, I get to see what it’s like being the bass player in the Melvins! Tres Cabrones indeed!”

The Melvins annexed Big Business band members Coady Willis and Jared Warren in 2006 for (A) Senile Animal and the quartet has remained in this incarnation for four additional releases including Everybody Loves Sausages, a covers album released this spring. Not ones to relax, the Melvins introduced Melvins Lite, a version of the band that teams Osborne and Crover with Trevor Dunn (Tomahawk, Mr. Bungle). Melvins Lite released their debut album, Freak Puke, in 2012 and subsequently embarked on a 51 date/51 State (including DC) tour of the United States. The band most recently celebrated their 30th anniversary with a six-week North American tour.

Up next for the band is a short stint in Australia with Helmet, a performance at the Meredith Music Festival on Dec. 13 and a recently announced New Year’s Eve performance with Mudhoney at the Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, Calif.
