SKELETAL SPECTRE – Doom-Death Befoulers Join Pulverised Records; Preview Track Available

Pulverised Records are pleased to welcome American/Swedish Doom-Death befoulers SKELETAL SPECTRE to their ever-expanding roster of repugnance!

Fronted by Vanessa Nocera (Wooden Stake, Scaremaker, etc.), SKELETAL SPECTRE are a ghastly hybrid of demonacy influenced by the spirits of the undead and midnight graveyard sacrifices. The band released two full-length offerings under the Razorback Records banner and are set to unleash their third studio endeavor, Voodoo Dawn — a malicious riffscape of sonic extremity — upon unsuspecting ears later this year.

Comments Nocera of the signing: “We are proud and honored to be on Pulverised Records’ roster! Definitely a label that I find to be one of the coolest around! We put a great deal of hard work into this album so that it would stand out from anything we’ve ever done. I think it is a testament to the band’s future, and we are looking to play live, especially in Europe so watch out. We’re coming!

Adds Pulverised Records A&R Manager Calvin Chiang: “The moment we heard the beginning riff off the first track from Voodoo Dawn, it completely blew us away and somehow we already knew something filthy was brewing from within. CORROSION OF CONFORMITY – To Kick Off Special Run With PRONG This Week!

Following up a triumphant stretch of West Coast dates earlier this Summer with Torche, Black Cobra and Gaza, this Wednesday, North Carolina crossover revolutionaries CORROSION OF CONFORMITY will kick off a four-date run with New York Metallers Prong. The short but epic run will commence in Huntington, West Virginiaand steamroll through Winston-Salem, Wilmington, and Savannah.The tour serves as a precursor to their Euro festival takeover this August (see full listing at THIS LOCATION)!

In addition, the band will appear on this year’s Hopscotch Music Fest. The three-day event is set to take place on September 6 – 8, 2012 on their home turf of Raleigh. The band will play alongside a throng of artists from all genres including Sunn O))), The Roots, Baroness, Yo La Tengo, The Jesus And Mary Chain and many more.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY were also added to the colossal Barge To Hell lineup where 40 of Metal’s finest acts along with 2,000 headbangers from around the world take over a luxury cruise ship for a five-day/four-night trip to the Caribbean. Founded by three teenagers in 1982, CORROSION OF CONFORMITY began as an underground band and went on to transform heavy music, challenging boundaries and serving as what Decibel Magazine called “a crucial stylistic lynchpin in the bridge between metal and punk” that “irrevocably reshaped crossover’s sonic possibilities.” Thirty years and many changes later, COC’s original trio is back with a self-titled release for London-based independent Candlelight Records.

FEAR FACTORY – Announce August Headlining Dates For The World Industrialist Tour 2012

Legendary Metal manipulators FEAR FACTORY are pleased to announce a U.S. headlining tour next month. Set to commence on August 1 in Fresno, California, the next segment of the The World Industrialist Tour 2012 will pummel its way across the country and includes a stop at this year’s Juggalo Gathering in Cave In Rock, Illinois alongside Soulfly, Static X, DMX, Onyx, and George Clinton among others. Additional dates will be announced in the coming days. Comments guitarist Dino Cazares: “We are really looking forward to getting back on tour to play classic FEAR FACTORY songs and new songs from The Industrialist!”

This will mark the FEAR FACTORY’s first official trek in support of The Industrialist, unleashed to North American fans June 5 via Candlelight Records. WITCHCRAFT – “LEGEND” Cover Art Revealed

Swedish Doom Metal icons WITCHCRAFT have revealed the cover art of the band’s forthcoming album, Legend, which marks the bands first after a long 5 year hiatus.

Commented singer/mainman Magnus Pelander: “A friend of mine had an idea about a cover for Legend. I developed the idea and gave it back to my friend who then passed it on to another friend who happened to be a designer. The designer then pushed it in a new direction. The result is already legendary.“

Bass player Ola Henriksson adds: “The album cover is meant to reflect the music and I think it does that with its heavy, dark & clean design.“

Legend will be released September 21 (Europe) and September 25, 2012 (North America) via Nuclear Blast.

WINDFAERER – EP From Iberian Black Metal Storytellers Streaming At Stereokiller

Solar, the brand new EP from Blackened Metalsmiths WINDFAERER, is now available. Far from simply a “tide-you-over” release between albums, the self-released EP bears an immense 35 minutes of material through six epic tales, and the best material to be released yet from this talented and original New Jersey-based outfit. Elements of contemporary Black Metal go head-on into Folk Metal territory, injecting copious amounts of violin and folk songwriting into an epic, battlestrewn environment.

This week Stereokiller, who stated in a killer 4.95/5 review of Solar “…as long as a few albums of this caliber come out every few years, I will be satisfied…”, are hosting a stream of the entire EP now RIGHT HERE.

Translating to “one who travels with the wind,” as in a vessel at sea, WINDFAERER began as a means of self-expression for guitarist/bassist/vocalist Michael Gonçalves, inspired by his Hispanic/Iberian heritage and fueled by his passion for Extreme Music. With WINDFAERER he focused his energies on creating a melodic, blasting and emotional entity and eventually recruited like-minded musicians in violinist Benjamin Karas and drummer JP Andrade.

The self-released follow-up to the band’s critically-acclaimed Tribus debutwas recorded with Bobby Torres at Frightbox Recording in Clifton, New Jersey and offers up seven tracks of sadistic beauty laden with elements of Black and Melodic Death Metal while exuding a folkloric edge.

Wanna See Some Of My VENOM Stuff? It’s All Really Cool…

VENOM – Whoa. Check out (above) that cool front cover for my issue of Zero Tolerance. This is the December 2011/January 2012 issue – #44. Cronos, the legendary classic member, bassist and vocalist of Venom gives one hell of an interview in this issue. After reading this interview, I really admire the up-front nature of Cronos. He tells it like it is. Old school is Cronos and his band Venom is back like a pit viper!

This leads me to the most recent Venom release…

Fallen Angels. The 13th album overall from Venom, Fallen Angels was released back on November 28th, 2011, via Spinefarm Records / Universal. I actually won this CD you see above from a bet I made with Best Metal Buddy Scott Coverdale. What was the bet? It was a “straight-up” bet that my beloved New York Giants would defeat the hapless New England Patriots in Super Bowl XLVI. My NY Giants won, 21 to 17. Thank you, Coverdale!

How influential and pioneering is this Venom debut! Welcome To Hell was released back in 1981, via Neat. I’ve had this cassette version of Welcome To Hell for a very, very long time. This debut from Venom is 100% Metal history 101, my Metal brethren!

So many genres of Metal can thank Venom for their establishing such a raw & speed driven sound; establishing this sound so early on during the NWOBHM movement. Venom paved a Metal path for countless Thrash and Black Metal bands; it’s nearly mind-boggling to grasp.

See for yourself, how Venom is misspelled on this cassette’s spine. It reads: Venon. Who the hell was dumb enough to misspell Venom this way? Whoever was responsible for this printing error was obviously a constipated poser and a turd. Blasphemy!!

Maybe this “Venon version” of Welcome To Hell is worth a blackened fortune? I just don’t know. I’ll never part with this cassette anyways, unless someone offers me six figures for it.

Band Welcomes Terry Butler And Plans Fan-Generated Set Of Classic Tunes Off First Three Records!

Following 23 shows and 19 flights throughout Europe, today pioneering Florida Death Metal merchants OBITUARY are pleased to unveil the official routing of their first North American headlining tour in over three years! Brought to you by Rock The Nation and sponsored by Fender, the Carnival Of Death Tour 2012 will kick off in Orlando, Florida and tear its way through 20 cities. Further sonic battery will come from reunited DM behemoths Broken Hope as well as Decrepit Birth, Jungle Rot and Encrust, making it among the year’s most relentlessly brutal old school Metal package jaunts.

Additionally, Fender will hosting a special contest throughout the duration of the tour. The Grand prize winner will receive a Blacktop Stratocaster HH guitar. Contest entries will be accepted at the OBITUARY merch table. Finally, since the tour will be passing through New York City on September 11th, the band saw it fit to remove the “Carnival of Death” tag for that date and, through an agreement with Live Nation, donate $2 from each ticket sale to a September 11th related charity.

KOSHER METAL’S ‘KOSHER KONCERT SERIES’ – Door Prizes Revealed!

ELIMINATOR – Release New Demo “You Are, You’re Not”

Once again, New Jersey’s ELIMINATOR are pushing boundaries and expanding the definition of “Heavy Metal”.  Guitarist/vocalist Warchild has been working hard with drummer Samus (DECREPIT BIRTH, ex-ABIGAIL WILLIAMS, ex-MUTINY WITHIN) on creating their latest EP titled Dream Thrash.

According to Warchild, this once again evolved sound is a first as he coins the genre “Thrashgaze”. This most recent project has the bands classic thrash sound mixed with 90’s alternative clean breaks and a melancholy vibe.  If there is anything an ELIMINATOR fan can expect, it’s certainly the unexpected and yet again, these guys deliver.

ELIMINATOR has just posted a demo of their new song “You are, You’re Not”.  With a recently formed live lineup, ELIMINATOR will continue to polarize listeners with Dream Thrash.

Heaven and Hell Records – Responds To Trademark Infringement Claim

In March of 2012 Heaven and Hell Records released a limited 1000 pressing CD for the band Overlorde SR (formerly known as Overlorde) titled Medieval Metal Too. The release is an archive of the band’s material recording from 1983 to 1989.  Many will remember the North Carolina band from the track “Keeper of the Flame” featured on the Metal Blade Records’ Metal Massacre VIII compilation and their infamous 1985 Medieval Metal EP.

Since the announcement of this release, both Heaven and Hell Records and Overlorde SR have been contacted by the New Jersey band Overlorde with claims of trademark infringement. The New Jersey band has also claimed that band’s similar monikers will cause confusion in the Metal community. We feel there are substantial questions about who first used “Overlorde” and who is best known as Overlorde.  We also feel that the audience for this material is sufficiently small and sophisticated to know the difference between Overlorde and Overlorde SR (in fact, we also reissued material by Canada’s Overlord).

Nevertheless, the issue should be settled, and it should be settled between the bands without threats to Heaven and Hell Records. In light of this situation Heaven and Hell Records will be ceasing with sales of Overlorde SR – Medieval Metal Too until the two bands have come to some agreement. In addition any plans to release another album under the name Overlorde SR have been halted at this point.

Although we do support Overlorde SR and strongly feel that the evidence shows they used the name first and have tried to avoid confusion by using “Overlorde SR”, this is an issue between the two bands. And any assumptions that there will be confusion caused between the similar monikers, and that fans will not be able to distinguish between the two just seems rather insulting to the intelligence of the metal community.

In closing H&H Records hopes that both bands can come to a civil conclusion and put this matter to rest.
