Jägermeister Presents 2011 Tour With Co-Headliners UNEARTH & CHIMAIRA

Since the band’s genre defining release The Oncoming Storm, UNEARTH has continuously crisscrossed the globe, becoming one of the hardest – and most consistent – touring bands in all of Hard Rock. With Darkness in the Light, their fifth full-length, the quintet have delivered their most honest, powerful, and compelling statement to date, driving a fist into the collective gut of every image-obsessed Metal band currently cluttering up the landscape, and setting a new standard when it comes to marrying precision brute force and exhilarating melody.

Earning themselves Top 200 Billboard Chart entries for all four of the band’s Metal Blade releases (The Oncoming Storm, III: In the Eyes of Fire, The March, and Darkness in the Light), UNEARTH is once again prepared to take the world by storm when they hit the road this fall with Cleveland, Ohio’s Chimaira. The tour will be joined by Athens, Ohio’s Skeletonwitch and Las Vegas, Nevada’s Molotov Solution.

Jägermeister, the brand that’s synonymous with music, has a long history of supporting bands, both from a local and basement level to national amphitheater acts. The brand has spent almost two decades developing artists and has seen many go from obscurity to the top of their fields. “Both bands symbolize the attitude that Jägermeister shares with Hard Rock and Metal music,” says Bill Henderson, Senior Vice President of Marketing and Advertising at Sidney Frank Importing Company, Inc. “Chimaira and UNEARTH have both worked with our brand for several years and it’s great that we can continue the relationship with this tour.”

“We are incredibly pleased to announce this fall’s Jägermeister tour in North America,” says Trevor Phipps of UNEARTH.  “We will be supporting our new album Darkness In the Light and are anxious to play more tracks from that album. Hitting the road with us will be our old friends in Chimaira, Skeletonwitch and soon to be new friends in Molotov Solution.  We would like to thank Jägermeister for supporting this tour and we look forward to seeing you all on the road! Let’s make this a fall tour to remember!!! Cheers!!!”

Tickets will be on sale to the general public starting September 23 through each venue’s ticketing outlet.  Please check local listings or UNEARTH’s website HERE for more details.

Sweden’s finest DEATHSTARS is supporting RAMMSTEIN on the 2011 leg of their “Made In Germany 1995-2011” Tour and will release a brand new single in October.

DEATHSTARS has a decade of debauchery under their belt. The music – which has been synonymous with darkness, sex, leather and glitter – is based upon the fusion of power, aggression and straight forward rock.

”It’s of course a fantastic thing to go on tour with a brilliant band like RAMMSTEIN. We are eager to hit the stages in Europe to spread the raw dark power of DEATHSTARS. It’s simply a great package.” comments vocalist and frontman Whiplasher Bernadotte.

The success of their second album ”Termination Bliss” and their latest full length release ”Night Electric Night” threw the boys of death to the very stars.

Currently the band is in studio to record the first music of the coming album.

The new single will be released through Nuclear Blast Records late October, and the “Made In Germany 1995-2011” together with RAMMSTEIN starts November 6.

COLD – A Tour Of The American Dream: Live Photos and Overview From The Crocodile Rock Cafe, Allentown, Pennsylvania, March 19th, 2011

(All Live Photo Credits: Tom Coderre)

COLD – Back on March 19th, 2011, Alt/Modern Metal Legends COLD brought A Tour Of The American Dream to The Crocodile Rock Cafe in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Myself and Metal Odyssey’s staff photographer Tom Coderre were there to take in this night of Hard and Heavy hittin’ bliss, which featured four fabulous supporting bands that are on the rise: KOPEK, Oceans Divide and Egypt Central. Eastern Pennsylvania’s very own Maddam Ink. closed out the night after the headliners COLD.

COLD presented themselves onstage like the tried and true Rock legends they are, playing a tight set of songs that spanned their career. Wherever I turned, fans were in a psyched-out mode, realizing they were watching the continued comeback of a band that has been highly influential to a generation of Hard Rock, Modern Metal and Alternative Heavy Music bands. Speaking of which, the members of KOPEK and Oceans Divide spoke reverently of COLD. This all added further proof, that COLD has without question left its mark on Rock Music history and an impressionable influence on many young, current and successful bands.

With COLD, it is not the amount of albums that is important, it is the quality of these albums in their discography that impresses me. COLD has sold well over a million albums for good reason. Their music’s originality blended with plenty of heaviness and fortified with an alternative vibe, feel and personality, have all been key with their successful bridge to strengthening the Alternative and Modern Metal genres over their career. From their newest single Wicked World to The Day Seattle Died, COLD performed their songs at The Crocodile Rock Cafe with a conviction of a band that has been around the block and Rocked it to kingdom come as well… many times over.

For a band of any stature to take a short or long hiatus from the scene, then only come back to Rock out the brains of a throng of adoring fans says quite a lot. The age group of these fans at The Crocodile Rock to see COLD on this evening, in late March, told another astounding story, with young and middle-aged Heavy Music fans alike seeming to be there for one purpose: COLD solidarity. With their forthcoming studio album Superfiction (Eleven Seven Music) being released on July 19th, 2011, the feeling in the air is that COLD is no longer on a comeback… COLD is back.

All the live photos you see here were taken by Tom Coderre. I’ll speak for Tom… he was quite psyched-out to be documenting this live set from COLD with his camera lens, documenting A Tour Of The American Dream… a tour and band that shall forever be an important part of Rock Music history. I know I was psyched-out to be there.

ZZ TOP – Live From Texas: A Very Cool Listen From Three Rockin’ Legends!

Posted in classic rock, classic rock bands, concerts, Hard Rock, hard rock bands, metal odyssey, Music, rock and roll, rock concerts, rock music, rock music news, southern hard rock, southern rock with tags , , , , , , , , , , , on July 2, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

ZZ TOPBilly Gibbons, Dusty Hill and Frank Beard. Three undisputed Rock and Roll legends. On this 2011 July 4th holiday weekend in America, kickin’ back to some live ZZ Top with some cold brews aplenty, well,  just seems like the right thing to do. I pulled Live From Texas out a couple of days ago and thought this album should be recommended for any fan of good times, old school, Classic Rock. Aw, hell, any fan of Rock Music just has to appreciate what ZZ Top has accomplished over their glorious Rockin’ career. From Southern Rock to Hard Rock, with the Blues in-between, ZZ Top is Rock and Roll whoop-ass, no matter how you slice it.

Released back in 2008, on Eagle Records, Live From Texas is not short on sound quality and production. This album obviously makes for a very cool greatest hits and live combination. Fans both old and new should get a kick out of hearing Pearl Necklace being introduced, showing that a little band rhetoric with the audience surely goes a long way. I dig every song I hear on Live From Texas, including Rough BoyMetal be thy name. Rough Boy seems to take an unfair hit every now and again and I’m tellin you now, this song is cool alone for just making the girls all mushy. Well, that’s how I observed it  “back in the day” with Rough Boy.

The live versions of Cheap Sunglasses and Just Got Paid flat out ROCK through my veins with Classic Rockin’ intoxication. Being able to see ZZ Top live during my lifetime is something I’ll always cherish and want to experience again one day soon. In the meantime, I’ll just reach for Live From Texas to get my dose of ZZ Top playing 16 songs live… with Texas and American pride!

* ZZ Top – Live From Texas was recorded on November 1st, 2007, at the Nokia Theatre in Grand Prairie, Texas.

AMON AMARTH – Starting today, fans can check out the new AMON AMARTH music video for the song Destroyer of the Universe off the band’s latest release, Surtur Rising. The live video, which is premiering exclusively on BlankTV , was shot on the band’s May 6th stop in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania at the Theatre Of Living Arts by director David Brodsky of MyGoodEye (The Black Dahlia Murder, The Devin Townsend Project, Suicide Silence, Municipal Waste, Whitechapel, etc).

Comments guitarist Olavi Mikkonen: “This time around we wanted to catch the energy and atmosphere of a live show, so we simply went for a live video. We look forward to get back to North America in August to continue and fulfill the ‘Evening with’ tour, meanwhile enjoy the video.”

Check out the video by clicking here: YouTube – Blank TV’s Channel and be sure to leave a comment.

In a recap of the band’s last tour in the US, Concertconfessions.com opined: “What is most beautiful about AMON AMARTH‘s triumph of America is that it’s as pure as the music itself… Friends sharing with friends the magic of the music, that is a true token of success and judging on the reaction from Southern California on Easter Sunday 2011 – AMON AMARTH will have success for a very long time.” The Washington Times applauded the band for leaving, “the sold-out crowd awestruck by [their] mastery of melodic death metal,” About.com boasted, “I was highly impressed by AMON AMARTH’s stage presentation, which easily rivals that of bands that normally fill arenas,” while Skullsnbones.com put it simply: “One band came and conquered Atlanta and their name is AMON AMARTH!”

Don’t forget to catch AMON AMARTH live when the band returns to North America for the second leg of the “An Evening with AMON AMARTH” tour.

Scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on August 4, the trek will pillage its way through 21 cities, including several Canadian venues, and come to a close in Boise, Idaho on September 3. AMON AMARTH nailed a cover spot of the April 2011 issue of Decibel Magazine and earned a 9/10 rating from Outburn who commended the band for delivering “a collection that is brimming with beefy riffs, insidious melodies, and a truly epic sense of scale.”

Fearnet.com agreed saying AMON AMARTH is now “at the head of the class,” Metal Review gave it a 9.2/10 score calling it “one of the band’s very best releases,” while Metal Army America offered up a grade “A” review noting, “from the Stockholm-bred riff style to frontman Johan Hegg’s Cimmerian-esque performance as growler du jour, AMON AMARTH’s Surtur Rising proves to be an essential and defining listen for band and fans alike.”

In addition, KILLER TOURS will be sponsoring DIRTFEST, and will be giving away a pair of DIRTFEST tickets to 1 (one) lucky winner.  You must have a KILLER TOURS account to enter: http://www.killertours.com/contests/

DIRTFEST 2011 – LINEUP OF BANDS:

ALL THAT REMAINS

TIMES OF GRACE

EVANS BLUE

SILVERSTEIN

HAWTHORNE HEIGHTS

ALIEN ANT FARM

BURN HALO

JANUS

EGYPT CENTRAL

MORE TBA SOON…

DIRTFEST started in 1997 as an outlet for promoters Matt Dalton and Kurt Gust to showcase their bands at the time. Locals would refer to Birch Run as “Dirt Run” since there was little more to do than play in the dirt of the small town. Each year, Dalton expanded the DIRTFEST and eventually the festival became big enough to host national acts as Four Year StrongSilverstein, Every Time I Die, Mayday Parade, and The Black Dahlia Murder to play alongside the many local Michigan bands.

This year DIRTFEST expands on that idea by once again including local and national metal acts, and also bringing hard rock bands into the mix as well.  DIRTFEST 2011 will return to The Birch Run Expo Center and takes place August 13th.

COME SPEND A DAY IN THE DIRT!

New Orleans derelicts, EYEHATEGOD — vocalist Mike Williams, guitarists Jimmy Bower and Brian Patton, bassist Gary Mader and drummer Joey LaCaze will kick off their long-anticipated European Summer tour today! Said Mike Williams of the journey: “Breaking news to the bastard sons of all unemployed and dysfunctional tribes of homeless malcontents worldwide! Louisiana’s EYEHATEGOD have finally been granted a set of much-maligned overseas work visas today in an unprecedented governmental and congressional decision upheaval. EHG have been given legal permission to invade the European continent… and more. For tour dates, see below. The threat to rock ‘n’ roll, and music in general, is imminent. Kill your Facebook. HELSTAR – Houston’s heavy metal kings HELSTAR are set to blaze a trail east next month on their six-date Summer Of Hate U.S. tour, the newest rash of ongoing performances in support of the band’s seventh studio full-length, Glory Of Chaos. Released onto North America in February via AFM Records, amidst a flood of critical praise of the album’s crushing Speed/Power Metal attack, Glory Of Chaos is a ballsy, blazing, full-length display of pure American Heavy Metal, which elevates the classic HELSTAR sound to aggressive new measures.

VASTUM – 2011 Tour Dates For Bay Area & Pacific Northwest

Posted in concerts, Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, metal music, metal odyssey, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , , , on May 16, 2011 by Metal Odyssey

VASTUM are on the warpath! The Bay Area horde are being praised by old-school death metal fans throughout the underground media in response to their brutalizing debut full-length, Carnal Law, set for release via 20 Buck Spin on May 31.

Continuing to brutalize live audiences with their stripped-down and ultra-pulverizing tonal supremacy, VASTUM have confirmed more live actions throughout the Bay Area and the Pacific Northwest over the coming weeks, with more tour plans in the works to be announced shortly.

VASTUM Confirmed Rampages:

5/18/2011 Elbo Room – San Francisco, CA w/ Inquisition, Necrite

7/01/2011 The Know – Portland, OR w/ Atriarch, Murderess

7/02/2011 Black Lodge – Seattle, WA w/ Ritual Necromancy, Anhedonist, Countdown to Armageddon

7/03/2011 Saratoga – Portland, OR w/ Knelt Rote, Negative Queen

VASTUM‘s thunderous, stripped-down attack produces some of the most wretched, dehumanizing, old-school Death Metal one can find on Carnal Law. Unifying musicians with current or past ties to Saros, Amber Asylum, Hammers of Misfortune, Infest and containing 3/4 of Acephalix’ lineup, conceptually, the band’s lyrical content explores dark themes of sexuality and psychic disfiguration in a more cerebral context, as one may find in the work of Georges Bataille or psychoanalyst Jean Laplanche. Frustration, pain, pleasure, confusion, depravity, death, life and isolation; the lines are blurred.

SKINLESS – To Play Final Show At 2011 Maryland Deathfest

SKINLESS – Following a special, ritualistically brutal, one-off performance last June that brought the classic SKINLESS lineup to the stage once again, the legendary death metal battalion will play their last show at this year’s edition of the Maryland Deathfest in Baltimore. Vocalist Sherwood Webber, drummer Bob Beaulac, guitarist Noah Carpenter and bassist Joe Keyser are prepared to scathe listeners with tunes off Progression Towards Evil and Foreshadowing Our Demise for one last time.

Commented Webber of the final performance: “This is Death Metal, so things can’t live forever, and here… we have an end! I’m stoked the guys at the Deathfest thought of us to do the show. It makes sense and we’re all down to do it. I know Noah announced the band’s demise a couple weeks ago, so it will be like seeing a ghost, then going to see Ghost ha!

“You can expect to see the sickest SKINLESS show ever,” he promises. “Last year’s reunion show was killer. It was everything a SKINLESS show should be about the finality of the MDF performance will definitely make it…….FINAL! THE FINAL NAIL!  Everyone in the band are still great friends. I live in Denver and we all have a lot going on in our lives now. We did way more than I ever expected. It was a lot of drive that made it happen; hard fucking work! I’d like to personally thank everyone that got behind us: Relapse, Ted Etoll and Step Up Presents, and most importantly the Metal fans all over the world! I’m over-the-top stoked for the show. If you can’t be there, there is always the miracle of YouTube. You never know what the musical future holds for all of us…keep a look out! Everyone take care, and always…STAY BRUTAL!”

SKINLESS will play on Sunday, May 29th in the main room at 6:45pm.
