NILE – Reveals Cover Art For “At The Gate Of Sethu”

Ancient Egypt-themed Death Metal act NILE have just revealed the cover artwork of their upcoming album: ‘’At The Gate Of Sethu’’

Artwork was handled this time by a true genius of darkened visuals, Seth Siro Anton (Soilwork, Paradise Lost, SepticFlesh).

Band mastermind Karl Sanders commented:

“Seth Siro Anton has designed the cover. I have been a fan of SEPTIC FLESH a long time, and as Seth expressed interest, I knew that he would deliver a great job.

I would say his work is easily the best we’ve ever had. He has captured the darker side of the sound of NILE and reflected the music and ideas, the heart and soul of NILE are forming. Seth is a very talented man and understands exactly who we are. ”

Seth Siro Anton states:

“It is no secret that I admire the powerful stylistic lines of the magical symbols that still transmit the aura of ancient Egypt, preserving in time the ancient mysteries.

Also, I am fascinated from the final frozen moment of the flesh captured in an eternal sleeping stasis, at the completion of the mummification process.

So, with a great pleasure I accepted the challenge, to visualize the new masterpiece of Nile ‘’At the gate of Sethu’’.

‘’At the gate of Sethu’’ will be released June 29, 2012 via Nuclear Blast.

ENSLAVED – Sign Worldwide Contract With Nuclear Blast

Nuclear Blast proudly announce the worldwide signing of the Norwegian Extreme-Metal-Band ENSLAVED.

After publishing the latest two albums “Vertebrae” (2008) and “Axioma Ethica Odini” (2010) via Nuclear Blast USA in North America, the band currently signed a worldwide contract.

The Band commented:

“We’re very, very (yes, very) pleased and proud to sign this deal with Nuclear Blast worldwide. We’ve already worked with Nuclear Blast US through our two latest albums; and our personal friendships with NB guys and gals on both sides of the Atlantic are even older. RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER – Ghostmaker Set For June 19th, 2012 Release On Candlelight Records

RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER – Candlelight Records today confirms June 19 as the North American release date for Ghostmaker, the new album from Metallers RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER. Produced by the band, Ghostmaker is the third album from the Philadelphia quartet and reunites the band with noted gore artist Mike Hrubovcak (Sinister, Hate Eternal, Cattle Decapitation).

Commenting on the album, vocalist/bassist Shawn Riley says, “Ghostmaker represents everything we have worked towards for the past several years. When the album drops it will be obvious that this is something created by four dudes thirsty for blood, eager to silence all the critics, and to crush all the lames.” Guitarist Ryan Moll notes, “This album is our fastest, darkest, and most relentless album yet. It will contain some of the most bone-crushing, graveyard stomping, Frankenstein/Dracula/Wolfman hate-fuck riffage written thus far.”

Guitarist Matt Moore adds, “Each song has its own distinct and strange aura of speed, darkness, brute strength, violence, cunning, and power. We have raised the bar and taken on musical and lyrical concepts that would drive commoners insane.”

Since completing recording, RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER have been performing regionally, most recently at Philadelphia venue Johnny Brenda’s. Earlier this year members of the band sat down with Metal Rules TV for a roundtable chat about the album. The interview is available HERE.

Formed in 2002, RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER had several underground releases, including a split 7-inch and a live album, before signing with Relapse. Their studio debut, Buried In the Front Yard, was released October 2005. Blabbermouth called the record, “a dynamic Thrash album with roots in crossover, a musically talented cast, and loads of tongue-in-cheek cleverness.”

The band would keep busy with additional split recordings, Speed N Spikes Vol. II (2008) and Urine Trouble / Nothing Defeats the Skull (2008) before getting back in to the studio for their second full length, Living for Death, Destroying the Rest also released by Relapse in January of 2009. The band supported Absu for a 22-date US/Canadian tour April 2009, a tour with Deceased in 2010, and have been performing regionally since.

RUMPELSTILTSKIN GRINDER currently features bassist/vocalist Shawn Riley, guitarist Matt Moore, guitarist Ryan Moll, and drummer Patrick Battaglia.

CANNIBAL CORPSE “TORTURE” – A Death Metal and Headbanging Must For The Metal Masses

CANNIBAL CORPSE – Being released on March 13th, 2012, via Metal Blade Records, Torture is the 12th full-length album from Death Metal’s reigning genre headliner and pissed-off pack of pit bulls known world-wide as: CANNIBAL CORPSE. Make no mistake, these guys can play their instruments and write some of the most bone chilling and skull crunching Death Metal this side of the anti-mainstream. CANNIBAL CORPSE has proven their dominant status as Death Metal defenders once again with Torture. In my Metal opinion they are just that.

I find it humorous when someone says to me, “oh, CANNIBAL CORPSE, yeah, I used to listen to ’em”. Well, this album isn’t for the “used to be fans” that in reality are hypocrites that secretly sit through numerous SAW movie marathons. Closet CANNIBAL CORPSE fans shouldn’t worry about what the neighbors may think, for it’s these same neighbors that are usually arrested for unspeakable crimes anyways. In other words, this is a legendary Death Metal band and so be it that their lyrics mirror the stories being aired on 24 hour cable news networks… during suppertime no less.

The continued existence of CANNIBAL CORPSE is not due to a small group of band devotees asking them to stick around, it’s all about a more massive global underground acceptance of a band that isn’t intimidated to push the envelope lyrically while never-ceasing to improve musically from one album to the next. This album isn’t carrying its Torture title for nothing. The songs on Torture are lyrically symbolic of what truly scares the living shit out of you, while keeping true to the Death Metal grooves that have made CANNIBAL CORPSE such an embracing, no bullshit and non-technical extreme outfit.

Torture isn’t just for CANNIBAL CORPSE diehards, this album will undoubtedly be a stepping stone listen for new fans of this band as well. From Demented Aggression to Torn Through, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher belts out his guttural growls and vocally pronounces the lyrics in a way only us Death Metal fanatics can understand. Metal truth be told, Corpsegrinder sounds as deathly dangerous as he ever has before. Amazing and terrifying vocals.

Man, them deadly leads,riffs and solos are non-stop on Torture; with guitarists Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett proving to me, they are a world-class Death Metal duo. Hell, this entire band is world-class Death Metal for that Metal matter. I’m always going goofy and I play some serious air guitar every time I listen to Torture. Really. Founding members Alex Webster (bass) and Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums) keep the Metal grooves smashing along; they play super tight and their beats are probably capable of (or responsible for) making seismic scales register earth tremors.

My favorite three songs on Torture are: Scourge Of Iron, Rabid and Encased In Concrete. Whoa. Scourge Of Iron just has a steady marching Death Metal beat; one that could seriously scare away any alien attack on our beloved planet Earth. Encased In Concrete and Rabid are 100% lethal in their overall extremity of sound. Brilliant songs.

With Torture, the lyrics and Death Metal go hand-in-hand and are thoroughly entertaining for my scorched eardrums. For me, Torture has earned its status as one of the very best from the CANNIBAL CORPSE catalog and one of the very best of Metal albums (overall) in 2012. A headbanging must this Torture album is. Metal be thy name.

VORE – Signs With Germany’s AFM Records

The deal will see a re-release of VORE’s most recent album, Gravehammer (which was released by the band in December of last year) on July 20th on CD and vinyl formats. The iron fist of the underground is now poised for world domination!

Barely a month after its release, Gravehammer reached the #4 spot on Amazon.com’s death metal downloads chart and received praise from critics around the world. The long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s Maleficus,  Gravehammer, sees VORE’s battle-ready brand of Death Metal taken to a new level of intensity and aggression.

VORE has been cranking out their unique blend of crushing, doom-laden Death Metal since 1994. VORE draws upon Death, Thrash and Traditional Metal influences to create an onslaught of titanic power and heaviness. Montreal based Extreme Metallers KATAKLYSM will release a multidisc DVD this June entitled “The Iron Will: 20 Years Determined”, which features a documentary and bonus CD materials. The set will depict the ups and downs of the band’s long, turbulent career, as well as footage of KATAKLYSM’s performance at last year’s Summer Breeze festival, which took place August 18-20, 2011 in Dinkelsbühl, Germany. AVATAR “Torn Apart” (Official Video) – Mandatory Metal From Sweden!

AVATAR – A Metal band that has caught my Metal attention this year, in an enormous way, is Sweden’s AVATAR. Their debut full-length, Black Waltz, was released back on February 14th of this year, via eOne Music. Below is the official music video for Torn Apart, just one of many Metal groove infested songs on Black Waltz.

AVATAR is dark, extreme, modern and groove laden with their Metal sound. Black Waltz is a solid reason as to why I am leaning towards choosing AVATAR as “Best Metal Newcomer Of 2012” and one of the best Metal albums I’ve listened to  thus far, this year. Crank up the Metal volume on Torn Apart below and you’ll might just agree with me!

SIX FEET UNDER – New Track Premiere Hosted By Guitar World

JOB FOR A COWBOY will be touring in support of their brand new studio recording, Demonocracy, released in North America last week through Metal Blade Records. The intricate, Jason Suecof-produced offering tackles various political and economic themes and continues to crush the masses nationally. In a recent review Ultimate-Guitar noted of the record: “The album plays like a constant assault, and while never backing off it still manages to add enough structure for individual songs to become memorable,” adding that, “the soloing is surprisingly catchy and well-executed while still managing to sit well in the context of the songs.”

The unit fuse classic founding Death Metal patterns with dissonant, primitive Crust/Punk tones into a raw, filthy attack. Having only soiled the Metal underworld with a demo and short split 7″ releases to date (one with Bombs of Hades, the other with Pyramido), but that will all change on the 1st of May when their latest output In Permanent Midnight will be released. Recorded and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory in Blueflame Studio and Great Scot! Audio, the whiplash-inducing MCD runs rampant with eight thunderous USURPRESS hymns in twenty-two minutes.

Formed in 2010, USURPRESS was founded by members Stefan Pettersson (ex-Sportlov, Diskonto/vocals), Påhl Sundström (ex-Blotseraph,Shuriken/guitar) and Calle (drums), later expanding to a four-piece by recruiting bassist Daniel Ekeroth (ex-Tyrant, ex-Insision, Dellamorte, author of Swedish Death Metal).

SKELETONWITCH – New Song Stream Available

Band Continues Pillaging Stages Across The U.S.

Today Ohio Metal goliaths SKELETONWITCH are streaming “new” track, “Tragedy of Days” at Prosthetic Records’ official bandcamp page. Never formally released on record in the States, the tune was recorded during the Forever Abomination sessions with producer Matt Hyde and appeared on the Decibel Magazine Flexi-Disc series (Oct. 2011 issue) as well as the Japanese edition of Forever Abomination.

Comments guitarist Scott Hedrick of the track: “’Tragedy of Days’ was an epic instrumental by [guitarist] Nate [Garnette]’s former band Serkesoron. They disbanded after the untimely passing of Serkesoron’s  frontman, Thom Wright. Shortly after the band called it quits, SKELETONWITCH was born. We re-recorded the track and Chance [Garnette] added vocals as a tribute to Thom, immortalizing him in song.”

In related news, the new vinyl reissues of the SKELETONWITCH‘s breakthrough releases Breathing The Fire and Beyond The Permafrost are now shipping from the Prosthetic Store. Both are available in three variants — splatter, half-and-half and 180-gram black wax — and feature gatefold Stoughton “tip-on” record jackets. Pictures of the limited-edition colored LPs can be seen HERE. The black vinyl versions of both albums will be available in select retail stores on April 10.
