Another week, another Metal dollar (or many Metal dollars) spent on paying bills and taxes. Expendable income is something I always try to handle with care. I like looking for deals when shopping for Metal. Finding a cool buy makes Stone a happy dude. The top photo of PANTERA 1990 – 2000 A Decade Of Domination proved to be my Metal surprise buy of the week.
I paid $5 (U.S. funds) for this PANTERA CD, at my local Super Walmart. A (10 song) greatest hits of PANTERA at 50 cents per song! Whoa. I already have these iconic PANTERA songs, still the “Only At Walmart” sticker on the wrapper made the completist collector side of me make the buy. Having this CD handy and at the ready has served me right.

Is it just me or does that Honda Odyssey commercial that plays The Hellion from the ultra-legendary Judas Priest rub you the wrong way? This commercial has been aired for over a year (it seems) and it takes the air out of a Metal classic, in my Metal opinion.
The Hellion is a psyche-you-out intro that leads into the (also) Metal classic: Electric Eye. Just the mass commercialization of The Hellion hasn’t sat right with me ever since I first saw this commercial. I guess it’s what you call: money talks.

Speaking of selling out… Aerosmith will be playing live, on the season finale of American Idol. This season finale will be aired on May 23rd, on the Fox network. Money and mammoth publicity reigns. I truly miss 70’s Aerosmith.

Scott Coverdale (Best Metal Buddy and Metal Odyssey correspondent) brought to my attention what the legendary Dee Snider is up to. You see, Scott and I both consider Dee Snider as a True American Metal Hero. Nothing shall ever change this mindset for us. With that said, I’m a bit bewildered as to Dee Snider’s current album project. Well… here is what Dee Snider is up to:
Dee Does Broadway. Metal be thy name. Metal be thy name… again. I’m thinking of that classic Cinderella song right about now. Which Cinderella song? Somebody Save Me.

Apocalyptic Love from SLASH – Featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators will be released on May 22nd, 2012. I will buy this CD. Hopefully I can land it for around $10 at (you guessed it) Super Walmart. Best Buy will surely have it. Target won’t have it. No way. Hell, the Target near me hasn’t yet stocked the new Iron Maiden En Vivo! and that’s startling to say the least. This same Target location has made it a point to stock at least 250 copies of that new Nicki Minaj. Um, make that 500+ copies.
Yes, I did get off topic here. It happens. My closing thought on this new SLASH album is: excellent cover art! The cover art for Apocalyptic Love screams… ROCK ‘N ROLL! Then again, this is SLASH we’re talking about and I don’t think he’d have it any other way.

Those are my Metal and Rock ‘N Roll Thoughts for Saturday, May 12th, 2012. So let it be Metal written, so let it be Metal told. Metal be thy name.
LONG LIVE ROCK ‘N ROLL & METAL.
