In the beginning of 2009, TOXIC WALTZ were founded by lead guitarist Jimi and ex-drummer Tim.
Bass guitar player Rahman, vocalist Angelo and rhythm guitarist Alex joined the band soon to form a THRASH METAL ensemble that is clearly affected by the US BAY AREA style (e.g. EXODUS, HEATHEN, DARK ANGEL), neither leaving out influences from other genres nor lacking recognition value.
TOXIC WALTZ are delivering aggressive, but artistically demanding THRASH, characterized by diversified songwriting.
The band’s unique style and live experience, originated with many smaller gigs, earned them bigger venues soon.
TOXIC WALTZ has shared the stage with well-known bands like SIX FEETUNDER, ALPHA TIGER and DEBAUCHERY.
In the near future, the debut full-length record “tba” is ready to be released through a record company. The band is fully ambitious to reach the maximum success for them and the label!

TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION – Red Dirt Metal. THC. Straight from the grand state of Texas, TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION are here to stay and this badass band brings it! I’ve been spreading the Metal word about THC for quite some time now and I’ll NEVER stop. Below is the heavy hittin’ and tree splittin’ lyric video for, Hands Up; a hit from THC’s 2012 studio album Peacemaker. This lyric video for Hands Up is also:
Stone’s METAL Pick Of The Day!
Play it LOUD and be glad I told you so. Metal be thy name.
Big Dad Ritch – Vocals
John Exall – Bass Guitar

TEXAS HIPPIE COALITION – PEACEMAKER

AMON AMARTH – The ninth studio album, Deceiver Of The Gods, from Sweden’s Melodic Death Metal Kings, AMON AMARTH, was released on June 25th of this year, via Metal Blade Records. Metal victory has once again been achieved for AMON AMARTH! Solid songs, musicianship, vocals and lyrics are only just the beginning, with Deceiver Of The Gods. AMONAMARTH have quite possibly released one of their finest Metal works of their storied career.
AMON AMARTH have a catalog of stellar albums that are (rather) difficult to leap-frog, when I think of making comparisons within their discography. AMONAMARTH are undisputed Metal legends, therefore Deceiver Of The Gods (just) has to be grand. Right? It is! This new AMON AMARTH album, Deceiver Of The Gods, rages along with Melodic Death Metal majesty and is a sonic blast of what this band is so legendary for!
My favorite song on this album is Hel. Glory be to the Metal Gods, this song is impeccable! Hel has now become (quite honestly) my favorite AMON AMARTH song of all-time! Vocalist Johan Hegg and (former Candlemass) guest vocalist Messiah Marcolin compliment each other in eye-popping fashion; it’s Johan’s muscular growl meets Messiah’s falsetto.
The title track (and album opener) plus the closer Warriors Of The North are fist-pumping, headbanging and raise the horns to the sky epics! A well thought-out way of bookending the prime-rib delicacy of Metal that is Deceiver OfThe Gods. Northern Mythology is once again embraced within the themes of this new AMON AMARTH album; with the Norse God, Loke, being the current example; however, this album is not devoted entirely on this legendary figure.
AMON AMARTH continuously raises their own bar of excellence and I couldn’t be more sincere and psyched about that. I highly recommend Deceiver Of The Gods to ALL my fellow Metal brethren and consider it as a bona-fide Top Ten contender for Metal Odyssey’s year-end Best Of 2013 list.
With accolades from media outlets and fans alike still surging in on their sophomore LP, Sky Burial, following its release via Relapse in March, Richmond’s genre-destroying INTER ARMA is already back to work in the studio. For the next ten days, the band will be bunkered down in Madison, Tennessee-based Dark Art Studios with producer Mikey Allred — the same surroundings and setup that captured the monolithic Sky Burial LP — once again unifying their talents on a massive track, to also see release via Relapse.
“There’s no title yet, but it’s a forty-plus minute piece that was originally written during the summer of 2009 and only played out a few times” stated guitarist Trey Dalton on the track. “We’ll have some different people doing guest appearances (noise, synth, strings, vox, and more) as well. We’re trying to make the most completely off the wall shit yet.”
Further details on the recording will be released in the coming weeks upon completion. In the meantime, INTER ARMA has been confirmed to perform at a pair of late Summer stateside music festivals, including a set alongside Pig Destroyer, ASG, Sleep, Kurt Vile and more at this year’s massive Hopscotch Fest in Raleigh, North Carolina on September 5th, followed by a spot on Boomslang Festival in Lexington, Kentucky the weekend of September 20th with Blonde Redhead, Marnie Stern, Locrian, Grails, Chelsea Wolfe and a ton of others. They’ve also been confirmed to storm Holland in 2014 as part of the annual Roadburn Festival. Expect further tour actions to be announced shortly.
New live album coming in October…stay tuned for more infos!
And… as stated by Lita Ford, recently on her Facebook page:
“The new LITA FORD LIVE Is high energy! I rocked the mastered copy on my new Dr. Dre’s while stuck in Friday afternoon rush hour! Due out in the world the week of September 22nd through the 28th! It’s called THE BITCH IS BACK …..LIVE! Look for it.”
Hod – In just under 12 minutes, the crushing, diabolical and Blackened Death Metal of Hod’s (self-released) The Uncreated Demo is an intense auditory experience! My fellow Metal brethren, Hod’s underground Metal is a necessity for your Metal stash. All three songs rage with riffs aplenty, with a rhythm section ablaze! The vocals of Vladibeer Reebs are a weapon of mass destruction! Death, Black and Extreme Metal is woven into an out-of-control firestorm on The UncreatedDemo! Metal be thy name.
Tasmanian Technical Death Metal artisansMEPHISTOPHELES will unleash theirsecond full-length, and first for genre-bending, extreme metal imprint Willowtip Records, this Fall. Titled Sounds Of The End, the vicious, ten-track offering was recorded at Red Planet Studio with Jake Long, and boasts some of the band’s most devouringly complex, intricately arranged and plainly engaging compositions to date. Sounds Of The End includes cover art by Bill Dean (Psycroptic, Iciclan, Excarnated) and a layout provided by Cock And Ball Torture drummer Sascha Pahkle.
Comments Matthew “Chalky” Chalk of the outcome: “I’ve never been happier in any of my bands over the years than I have been in MEPHISTOPHELES. What we’ve put together is the freshest, most alive, most invigorating music I’ve ever been a part of and I cannot wait to show the world that Mephistopheles are here, we’ve got something new to say and we mean business!”

Featuring former members of Spawn of Possession, Psycroptic and Space Raven among others, MEPHISTOPHELES is a four-piece technical metal band from Hobart, Tasmania drawing inspiration from the likes of bands like Athiest, Deeds of Flesh, Opeth, Cynic, Deicide etc. Originally formed by four high school friends in 2004, MEPHISTOPHELES has always been focused on the creation of memorable but challenging music, infusing Black and Death Metal with occasional Jazz moments. The band has continually thrived on fashioning fresh sounds that purposely step well beyond conventional genre structures, but have also maintained a firm footing within traditional Death Metal realms.
Sounds Of The End will be released in North America via Willowtip Records October 1, 2013. Preorder details and live assaults to be announced soon.
Los Angeles, CA – Progressive Metallers THOUGHT CHAMBER are finally back with a new release, following up on their acclaimed debut album “Angular Perceptions” from 2007. The U.S. based group named their second album release “Psykerion” and it will be released on September 16th, 2013 in Europe and on October 1st, 2013 in North America via InsideOutMusic.
Next to guitarist and composer Michael Harris as well as vocalist TedLeonard (also in Enchant, Spock’s Beard and Affector), THOUGHTCHAMBER’s ranks of skilled players now also feature Bill Jenkins (also in Enchant) on keyboards, Jeff Plant on bass and Mike Haid on drums.
THOUGHT CHAMBER’smastermind Michael Harris checked in to comment about the new album as follows: “We’re all very excited about finally releasing ‘Psykerion’! A lot of changes have occurred in the band since our first record. Beyond Ted & I, we now have Mike Haid on drums, Jeff Plant on bass and Bill Jenkins on keyboards, who all did a stellar job and are all great guys on top of that, so our chemistry is perfect. ‘Psykerion’ is a concept record – a sci-fi human drama – musically yielding everything from prog-metal to jazz-fusion to acoustic.“
“Psykerion” contains 16 tracks / 64 minutes of superb true progressive metal with a technical sci-fi twist, likely to appeal to fans of Dream Theater, Yes, Rush or Planet X. The album’s cover artwork, which can be seen above, was designed by John E. Holland/ MistyMountainGraphics.com. The album was recorded in various locations between 2012 and 2013 and finally mixed and mastered by Tom Size (Y&T, Aerosmith, Mr. Big, Enchant) at Tomland Studios, Pacheco, CA.
More details about “Psykerion” and some first music samples will follow in the coming weeks…
THOUGHT CHAMBER Line-Up:
Ted Leonard – Lead vocals
Michael Harris – Guitars, keyboards, harmony vocals
STRYPER – Being a lifelong fan of STRYPER, I found it exciting news that this legendary Christian Heavy Metal band was going to release an album of re-recorded hits; with two new studio tracks. I’m even more excited now that I’ve had this entire Summer to enjoy Second Coming(Frontiers Records). This album makes for a definitive collection of STRYPER classics. These are the songs that STRYPER chose to re-record and they have given powerful new life to each one of them!
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll always revere the original songs that are represented as re-recordings on Second Coming. Besides, I’ve always found it (gasp) fun when a famous band decides to do a cover song album. With STRYPER covering their own classics, it really doesn’t get any better than this for fans waiting on their forthcoming studio album of original material: No MoreHell To Pay (Frontiers Records – On November 5th).
Michael Sweet (guitarist, vocalist) has never sounded better on vocals, on Second Coming. Cliche? Nope. It’s truth for me. Collectively, this album of sixteen songs couldn’t sound any better unless there were thirty-two songs! Guitarist Oz Fox, drummer Robert Sweet and bassist Timothy Gaines all shine once again. Cliche? Nope. It’s reality for me.
The two new studio tracks, Bleeding From Inside Out and Blackened are Heavy Metal gems! If this is the direction STRYPER is going with No MoreHell To Pay, then I’m chopping at the bit for November 5th to come! Both of these new and heavy songs signify loud and clear, to me, that STRYPER areproud leaders of Christian Heavy Metal and have so much more to give to their fans!
I now look upon Second Coming as a victorious moment in the illustrious career of STRYPER. Why? This is a band that has survived and thrived, since 1983; overcoming the same hurdles, setbacks, trends and record industry gaffes that any other band from their era has endured. Nevertheless, the strong survive and STRYPER has stood the test of time and persevered, through their quality discography and sensational live concerts.
Second Coming, to me, serves as a powerful musical testamentfrom STRYPER that they have been here all along, are here now and are looking to the future as well. An inspiring, influential and faith-filled Heavy Metal band that has spanned four decades and stuck to their principles. You can’t get any more truer than that; therefore, my sincere admiration for STRYPER is obvious and I’ve (historically) never held that back, here on Metal Odyssey. Metal be thy name.
DIESTO – Portland, Oregon is home to DIESTO; a band that’s incrediblyheavy, from every musical angle, note and lyric. Every instrument played in this band is played heavy as freaking hell. Stoner, Doom and even CLUTCH fans who’ve not heard DIESTO (yet) will revel in this band’s sound. Aw, hell, any Metal fan will have something to marvel at with DIESTO; this band is that good. DIESTO = Riff Fest.
DIESTO will be seeing their fifth album, For Water Or Blood, release on August 27th, via (the mighty) Eolian Empire. This new DIESTO album is without any Metal doubt in my Metal mind, one you have to put on your need list. I want to feature the very best on Metal Odyssey and give my fellow Metal brethren choices that are (to me) legit and badass. DIESTO fits that Metal criteria very well.

DIESTO:
Mark Bassett – Guitar & Vocals Chris Dunn – Guitar & Vocals Devon Christian Shirley – Drums Rusty Powers – Bass
DIESTO pronounces the old school Doom in their songs (think early Black Sabbath) and makes it all sound so rich and powerful! Don’t be fooled that there is (only) 7 songs on For Water Or Blood, these songs are not quickies. This is an album for the backwoods bonfires, with kegs tapped and beer flowing abundantly, below a smoke-filled night sky. This is an album for the big cities too, DIESTO is a band you want your elitist neighbors to hear you playing LOUD so they don’t think of messing with you.
DIESTO are outstanding Metal musicians in my Metal world; listening to these dudes hammer away on this album is a great way to escape from the shit going on in the world right now. The sandpapered and Herculean vocals of (guitarist) Chris Dunn are simply awesome. For Water Or Blood was just the Metal remedy I needed this past week, to keep my Metal veins pumping and my Metal soul burning bright. Metal be thy name.

Oxford, England-based quartet PROSPEKT has signed with progressive metal linchpin Sensory Records for the pending release of the band’s massive debut full-length.
Coalescing the fierce technicality of progressive metal with the symphonic elements of contemporary prog through brutal riffs, odd time-signatures, and majestic melodies, PROSPEKT’s sound is influenced by bands such as Dream Theater, Symphony X, Opeth and Circus Maximus, as well as film scores and fusion. The band’s intent is to create an intelligent and atmospheric mix of melodic, modern progressive metal, incorporating passionate high-range vocals, frenetic guitar work, haunting orchestration and solid grooves, every composition remaining interesting and original.
Formed in 2008 by guitarist Lee Luland and drummer BlakeRichardson, PROSPEKT began as an experimental project, with the focus on complex instrumentation. Through incessant amounts of writing and rehearsing, the duo forged a sound that would epitomize their technical, melodic and progressive methodology. With the addition of bassist Phil Wicker and vocalist Matt Winchester in 2009, the band released their self-titled debut EP in March 2011 which was met with critical acclaim. In the Fall of that year Richard Marshall joined the band on keyboards and lead vocals (replacing Matt), adding a new dimension to the music. With his smooth, powerful voice the compositions became more epic and charismatic. Soon after the lineup shift PROSPEKT hit the studio and recorded their debut full-length, The Colourless Sunrise, and hired world-renowned producer Jens Bogren and Adam ‘Nolly’ Getgood of Periphery to mix and master the epic, sixty-five minute album.
The Colourless Sunrise is scheduled for October 2013 release via SensoryRecords, a division of The Laser’s Edge. Further details will be released in the coming weeks.

Iconic Christian Rockers Stryper’s New Studio Album “No More Hell to Pay” Is Due Out In November On Frontiers Records
_____________________________________________
Frontiers Records is proud to announce the release of iconic Christian rockers Stryper’s new studio album, NO MORE HELL TO PAY; the offering has been confirmed for a November 1st release in Europe and November 5th in North America and will be available in two formats – standard CD and deluxe digipak featuring exclusive video content.
Produced by frontman/guitarist Michael Sweet himself, the set features some of Stryper’s strongest and heaviest material ever. Check out below a special video message from Michael Sweet:
Sweet also commented: “NO MORE HELL TO PAY marks our 30 year anniversary and what a journey it has been! It’s our eleventh studio release since our first album in 1984 (THE YELLOW & THE BLACK ATTACK) and it’s quite possibly our best record to date. Why? It’s everything you might expect from a Stryper record – high octane vocals, layered vocal harmonies, guitar solos galore, driving drums and bass and an energy that hasn’t been achieved since our glory days. The message is equally as powerful as it offers hope and inspiration to anyone listening. If you’re a Stryper fan, it’ll make you proud to be one. If you’re not, listen with caution as you may actually become one. We’ve been waving the striped flag for 30 years and we’re proud to say that it’s an honor to still be making music with you and for you. The best is yet to come and it’s coming November 5th!”
