SPHERON – German Death Metallers Reveal Cover Art And Release Date For Debut Album

On July 5, 2013 the long-awaited debut album Ecstasy of God from Ludwigshafen, Germany-based Technical Death metallers SPHERON will be out on Apostasy Records.

This challenging and absorbing album was produced together with Christoph Brandes at the Iguana Studios (e.g. Necrophagist, Deadborn, Imperium Dekadenz, etc.). The breathtaking cover artwork was painted by no other than the famous artist Eliran Kantor (Eliran Kantor) who has already worked with bands like Testament, Hatebreed, Sodom and Atheist.

SOULFLY are pleased to announce that they have inked a deal with Nuclear Blast Entertainment, a new division of Nuclear Blast formed by Nuclear Blast owner Markus Staiger and former Roadrunner A&R chief Monte Conner. SOULFLY will enter the studio this month to begin recording their as-of-yet-untitled ninth studio album. The record will be produced by the world-renowned Terry Date, who is known for his work with such bands PANTERA, DEFTONES and SOUNDGARDEN among many others.

“I’m really excited to be signing SOULFLY to Nuclear Blast Records,” commented legendary frontman Max Cavalera (SEPULTURA, CAVALERA CONSPIRACY). “On top of it, we’re going to be reunited with Monte Conner who I’ve worked with for over 20 years at Roadrunner. SOULFLY ‘s new album is going to be recorded in Seattle with the great producer Terry Date, and it’s going to come out later in the year through Nuclear Blast worldwide. Keep it metal!”

“It feels so right to be reunited with Max Cavalera,” added Monte Conner. “He is the second artist I signed and we’ve made 17 albums together over the years, including several metal classics. Max’s voice remains just as unique and powerful as the day I met him and I felt the last SOULFLY album Enslaved was his strongest work since the band’s Gold-selling debut. I am honored to call him a friend and to continue to be a part of his mission.”

Ever since the band’s gold-certified debut in 1998, SOULFLY have become deadlier and more dangerous with each critically acclaimed successive release, and their upcoming album will be no exception. Expect a release tentatively in the Fall of this year.

OUTSHINE – After 6 appreciated US Tours and the last one in April 2013, with +100 gigs in Scandinavia and the US, airtime in Swedish Radio and various endorsements deals OUTSHINE now release their new album Prelude To Descent with new singer Micke Holm. The album will be out June 7th through Outshine’s own label Dead Tree Music and Soundpollution Distribution in Sweden, Europe and USA.

The addition of a new singer, that has a darker and heavier approach to the OUTSHINE songs and vibe, has taken the band to the next level and the essence of the band and album is really finally coming out. A video for the song “I Was Nothing” can be viewed here: www.youtube.com/theoutshine

The new album was recorded by Svein Jensen at Grand Recordings (M.A.N, Transport League, Hide The Knives, Sister Sin, Troublemakers, Outshine), produced by Jimmy Norberg and Svein Jensen and mastered by Göran Finnberg (Meshuggah, The Haunted, Opeth, Dark Tranquillity, In Flames).

Almost three years after their pummeling Gutter Earth EP was inflicted upon the masses, cold-blooded Elizabeth, New Jersey-based Death Metal insurgents GRIMUS have completed their first proper full-length, Omnicide.

With its members all hailing from a plethora of Extreme Metal acts including Iberian Black Metal outfit Windfaerer, Metal Blade Tech/Death act Allegaeon and others, the members of GRIMUS are united in hatred for humankind, their output surging with guttural, cutting-edge Death Metal prowess, with monolithic slams and swells of the most vicious kind infiltrating their uncompromising low-end attack. These atrocious features are grippingly captured on the quintet’s debut full-length album, Omnicide. The term literally meaning the killing of everything is a testament to man’s inherent, bloodthirsty nature and audacity to alter his surroundings, through efficient forms of destruction. Paradoxically, mankind is willfully committing suicide in its attempt to become a godlike creator. This album is a soundtrack to the decimation of all that is known, “the age of none.”

A thirty-six minute onslaught of blasting and grooving barbarity, Omnicide was tracked and mixed by guitarist Marco Bobadilla at Crimson Recording and mastered by Alan Douches (Cannibal Corpse, Beneath the Massacre, Job For A Cowboy) at West West Side Music. GRIMUS will self-release Omnicide on June 25 2013.

The Omnicide album art was illustrated and designed by bassist Michael Goncalves.

The massively anticipated fourth LP from Japan’s Death/Doom Metal kings COFFINS will finally arrive this Summer in the form of The Fleshland, the band’s maiden LP under the banner of Relapse Records.

The Fleshland will be the first proper studio album from COFFINS since their commended Buried Death album, released by 20 Buck Spin in 2008, undoubtedly making it one of the most awaited death/doom albums of 2013. Recorded late 2012/early 2013 at Tokyo’s Noise Room Studio with engineer Shigenori Kobayashi, and produced by Bungo Uchino and the rest of COFFINS, The Fleshland shows the revamped and expanded band lineup smashing down everything in their path, having upped the lineup from a trio to a quartet with a new drummer and full-time vocalist since Buried Death.

Nine grisly numbers thunder with the unbeatable mid-paced COFFINS stomp, laying down over forty-five minutes of bruising low-end sludge-infiltrated, plodding doom with possibly the best production values in the band’s meaty catalog of carnage.

Relapse will roll out The Fleshland via CD, download and mammoth 2xLP, the bloodsoaked opus now locked for a North American release date of July 9th. In addition, a deluxe black and white artwork edition on 2xLP, Cassette and CD will be made available only via Relapse direct. Today the label has released the album’s cover art, as with their previous albums, COFFINS having once again chosen the gruesome hands of Chris Moyen (Morbosidad, Black Witchery, Incantation, Blasphemy, etc.) to illustrate their works, along with a visual trailer for the album as well as preorder packages. HUMILIATION – Announces New Album Details And Song Premier

Malaysian war-themed Death Metal soldiers, Humiliation, have announced Turbulence From the Deep as the title of their fourth studio album, first for Deepsend Records, to be unleashed May 28th.

It should be no surprise the band worship at the tank known as Bolt Thrower. Musically, Humiliation focus on mid-tempo headbangers with heavy anthems of war, lack of humanity and minimal guitar solos. Evilution, the debut from Sacramento, California-based power metal act DEADLANDS is out now on Massacre Records. Boasting killer hooks, dynamic vocals, aggressive riffing, epic solos, catchy lyrics, driving drums and intricate bass lines that combine heavy, thrash, power, groove, and speed metal with shredding hard rock overtones, this band of seasoned performers delivers a heavy and energetic yet commercial musical approach in its songwriting and execution.

Formed in the summer of 2010 by lead vocalist Brian O’Connor (Consfearacy, ex-Vicious Rumors), lead guitarist Michael J. Gardner (The Council), lead guitarist Kevin Rohr (Spectre), bassist Steve “Dedbass” Northam and drummer Danny Sablan (HateFX, The Council), these longtime friends and experienced musicians had a clear vision of creating a powerful and unique Heavy Metal group. DEADLANDS is quickly establishing a large fan base, being nominated for a 2012 Sacramento Area Music Award (SAMMIES), playing live, and sharing the stage with artists such as Exodus, Anvil, Y&T, Great White, Death Angel and more. DEADLANDS’ debut full-length Evilution bears forty-three minutes of the band’s diehard power metal, and features guest solo appearances by legendary Metal guitarists Hank Shermann (Mercyful Fate), Michael Denner (Mercyful Fate, King Diamond), Andy LaRocque (King Diamond), Claudeous Creamer (Dragonlord), Mike Wead (Mercyful Fate, King Diamond), Glen Alvelais (Forbidden, Testament, HateFX), and Steve Smyth (Nevermore, Forbidden). Evilution was mixed and mastered by DEADLANDS and Juan Urteaga (Machine Head, Testament) at Trident Studios, and bears artwork by Erick Zombie.

Offering a visceral and ruthless brand of Extreme Death Metal in the vein of early Sepultura, Death and Massacre, THORNAFIRE have established themselves as a force to be reckoned with through their intense live show and a trio of well-received albums. The band’s fourth full-length will be out in late 2013 on FDA Rekotz. Prepare yourselves for the coming onslaught of high-caliber death metal!

THORNAFIRE started out in 1998 by the hand of Víctor Mac-Namara with the sole intention of playing Death Metal. A year later two songs were recorded for the Granded for all Somberness demo. With that tape and a savage live show the band started to achieve a strong name in the local scene. After a series of line-up changes, an MCD entitled Mortus Tenebrae Surrectus was released in 2001, which received many good reviews from the local and international metal media. With that THORNAFIRE became one of the most promising Chilean Extreme Metal acts. The recording saw worldwide distribution via the tried and true methods of tape-trading and word of mouth.

THORNAFIRE began to gig and tour around Chile and into Bolivia and Argentina. In 2005, the band recorded their debut full-length, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation. The album stood out as a milestone in brutality and a masterpiece of hate. It also caught the attention of Incantation’s John McEntee, who signed THORNAFIRE to his label, Ibex Moon Records. The spring of 2007 saw the re-release and worldwide distribution of the debut and, in 2009 the band released Vorex Deconstrucción on Ibex Moon Records. A European invasion soon followed which saw the band appear alongside the likes of Master, Incantation, Deranged and many others at the Obscene Extreme Festival.

Since then, THORNAFIRE has shared stages with Slayer, Overkill, Dimmu Borgir, Motley Crue and several other notable acts. In 2012, bassist/vocalist Christian Argandoña joined the fold and Eclipse Nox Coagula was unleashed with critical acclaim and rabid reception from the band’s growing legion of fans. With a deal with FDA Rekotz in place, THORNAFIRE’s quest for global domination continues. Prepare yourselves.

NUCLEAR Apátrida – If you’re a loyal old school Thrasher or just addicted to Thrash Metal that’s potent enough to set off the Richter Magnitude Scale, then NUCLEAR is a Thrash Metal band that you need to have your ears, brain and entire nervous system acquainted with.

NUCLEAR are from the grand Republic Of Chile and formed their Thrash Metal pack back in 2003. Not afraid to approach politics as a lyrical theme, NUCLEAR gets their point across with blazing sonic beats and a dual guitar attack that has my neck begging for mercy after each listen to Apátrida. Wether NUCLEAR’s vocalist Matias Leonicio sings in English or Spanish, the Metal point is made very clear: there is credible passion in his voice and Thrash Metal is a universal language all its own.

Get into NUCLEAR and allow this rising giant of a Thrash band to kick your ass. NUCLEAR has arrived my fellow Metal brethren! Metal be thy name.

DIO – As long time fans can attest, the quality of Dio’s studio albums never wavered throughout the group’s near 30-year career. Case in point, the fan favorite/concept album, “Magica”, which featured Ronnie James Dio’s one-of-a-kind vocals and the return of guitarist Craig Goldy. The album spawned such metal classics as “Fever Dreams,” “Turn to Stone”, “Lord of the Last Day” and has sold over 100,000 copies worldwide – largely on word of mouth alone. One small problem – the original 2000 CD version has been out of print for years, and has become increasingly hard to find. SELF-TITLED DEBUT ALBUM OUT MAY 28TH

San Francisco – Pasadena Napalm Division, the Houston-based Thrash Metal outfit that features D.R.I. singer Kurt Brecht and members of Dead Horse, premiere 100 Beers With A Zombie via Noisecreep:

“Fans of D.R.I. and Deadhorse will rejoice. PND is what Thrash Metal should sound like in 2013,” said Brecht.  “Working together with some of the members of Texas based cult band, Deadhorse, we have come up with some hard hitting tunes that span genres and will withstand the test of time. I can’t wait to take the Pasadena Napalm Division machine on the road in support of our first LP on Minus Head Records.”

The band’s 13-song self-titled debut is set for a May 28 release via Minus Head Records. The album was recorded at the Music Lab in Austin and features guest vocals from Tony Foresta (Municipal Waste) and Argo (Dead Horse).

Pasadena Napalm Division is Kurt Brecht (vocals), Greg Martin (guitar), Scott Sevall (guitar/vocals), Ronnie Guyote (drums) Bubba (bass/vocals).
