KATAKLYSM – POST THIRD “THE IRON WILL” TRAILER & ANNOUNCE TOUR DATES!

Montreal based Extreme Metallers KATAKLYSM will release a multidisc DVD this June entitled “The Iron Will: 20 Years Determined”, which features a documentary and bonus CD materials. The set will depict the ups and downs of the band’s long, turbulent career, as well as footage of KATAKLYSM’s performance at last year’s Summer Breeze festival, which took place August 18-20, 2011 in Dinkelsbühl, Germany. The cover art for the release was created by artist Colin Marks (ORIGIN, EXODUS, NEVERMORE) and can be viewed above.

AVATAR “Torn Apart” (Official Video) – Mandatory Metal From Sweden!

AVATAR – A Metal band that has caught my Metal attention this year, in an enormous way, is Sweden’s AVATAR. Their debut full-length, Black Waltz, was released back on February 14th of this year, via eOne Music. Below is the official music video for Torn Apart, just one of many Metal groove infested songs on Black Waltz.

AVATAR is dark, extreme, modern and groove laden with their Metal sound. Black Waltz is a solid reason as to why I am leaning towards choosing AVATAR as “Best Metal Newcomer Of 2012” and one of the best Metal albums I’ve listened to  thus far, this year. Crank up the Metal volume on Torn Apart below and you’ll might just agree with me!

SIX FEET UNDER – New Track Premiere Hosted By Guitar World

Guitar World is hosting an exclusive premiere of “18 Days,” the second official single from Death Metal tyrants SIX FEET UNDER. The track comes off the band’s soon-to-be disengaged Undead full-length scheduled for North American release on May 22, 2012 through Metal Blade Records. Offering up 12 tracks of uncompromising, sonic brutality, the record was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver) and mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy), at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida.

Commented vocalist Chris Barnes: “Creating an album is a lot of work and a lot of focus, but we didn’t really have too many hiccups in the recording. It went really smooth, and it was pretty much the most effortless album we’ve ever tracked. I had a great, great time working on this album; it was so much fun because everything seemed so new again.”

JOB FOR A COWBOY will be touring in support of their brand new studio recording, Demonocracy, released in North America last week through Metal Blade Records. The intricate, Jason Suecof-produced offering tackles various political and economic themes and continues to crush the masses nationally. In a recent review Ultimate-Guitar noted of the record: “The album plays like a constant assault, and while never backing off it still manages to add enough structure for individual songs to become memorable,” adding that, “the soloing is surprisingly catchy and well-executed while still managing to sit well in the context of the songs.”

Alternative Press calls Demonocracy “an ass-kicking, skull-cracking record,” while Stereokiller agrees: “…a solid slab of some really heavy technical death metal. JOB FOR A COWBOY has separated themselves from former peers such as All Shall Perish and Whitechapel, and has now firmly fitted themselves with the likes of Suffocation and Dying Fetus.”

In related news, the fourth in the “The Leads Are Weak” instructional video series by guitar wizard Tony Sannicandro is currently posted for your viewing pleasure. Subtitled “Getting Sexual,” Sannicandro elaborates: “One of the most important things to me in soloing is good phrasing. The first half of the ‘Misery Reformatory’ solo is a pretty cool example of good phrasing that fits the song. It would have been easy to go to the classic E-minor and start burning like the clap, but I figured it would be better to break it down a little simpler and make it sexy. The unit fuse classic founding Death Metal patterns with dissonant, primitive Crust/Punk tones into a raw, filthy attack. Having only soiled the Metal underworld with a demo and short split 7″ releases to date (one with Bombs of Hades, the other with Pyramido), but that will all change on the 1st of May when their latest output In Permanent Midnight will be released. Recorded and mixed by Lawrence Mackrory in Blueflame Studio and Great Scot! Audio, the whiplash-inducing MCD runs rampant with eight thunderous USURPRESS hymns in twenty-two minutes.

Formed in 2010, USURPRESS was founded by members Stefan Pettersson (ex-Sportlov, Diskonto/vocals), Påhl Sundström (ex-Blotseraph,Shuriken/guitar) and Calle (drums), later expanding to a four-piece by recruiting bassist Daniel Ekeroth (ex-Tyrant, ex-Insision, Dellamorte, author of Swedish Death Metal).

Produced by Jason Suecof (Black Dahlia Murder, Whitechapel, Trivium) at Audiohammer Studios, the intricate, thought-provoking and wholly pulverizing Death Metal opus will see its North American release on April 10, 2012 through Metal Blade Records.

Two notes per string is often neglected by many guitar players, because three notes a string is much easier to get up to speed, but two note patterns are an OG way to put some bluesy flavor in your lick-age.”

SKELETONWITCH – New Song Stream Available

Band Continues Pillaging Stages Across The U.S.

Today Ohio Metal goliaths SKELETONWITCH are streaming “new” track, “Tragedy of Days” at Prosthetic Records’ official bandcamp page. Never formally released on record in the States, the tune was recorded during the Forever Abomination sessions with producer Matt Hyde and appeared on the Decibel Magazine Flexi-Disc series (Oct. 2011 issue) as well as the Japanese edition of Forever Abomination.

Comments guitarist Scott Hedrick of the track: “’Tragedy of Days’ was an epic instrumental by [guitarist] Nate [Garnette]’s former band Serkesoron. They disbanded after the untimely passing of Serkesoron’s  frontman, Thom Wright. Shortly after the band called it quits, SKELETONWITCH was born. We re-recorded the track and Chance [Garnette] added vocals as a tribute to Thom, immortalizing him in song.”

In related news, the new vinyl reissues of the SKELETONWITCH‘s breakthrough releases Breathing The Fire and Beyond The Permafrost are now shipping from the Prosthetic Store. Both are available in three variants — splatter, half-and-half and 180-gram black wax — and feature gatefold Stoughton “tip-on” record jackets. Pictures of the limited-edition colored LPs can be seen HERE. The black vinyl versions of both albums will be available in select retail stores on April 10.

Additionally, the band recently unveiled a new video for the song “The Infernal Resurrection,” which comes off their The studio offering, Forever Abomination. To view the clip, which documents the band in live pillage mode in Europe, head over to Metal Injection.

SKELETONWITCH are currently setting stage ablaze on tour alongside The Black Dahlia Murder, Nile and labelmates Hour Of Penance. About: Rising from the smoky ashes of their former bands Disthrone, Through Rose-Tinted Glasses and Prophecy of Plagues, THE TIDE WILL TAKE US is a groove metal band named for the murky, volatile Georgian Bay waters the Wasaga Beach, ON five-piece call home. SIX FEET UNDER – 3 Song Sampler Review Of Forthcoming Album ‘UNDEAD’

SIX FEET UNDER – I’ve recently smothered my eardrums in a three song sampler of the forthcoming Six Feet Under album (Metal Blade Records) that’s titled: Undead. The three songs are: Formaldehyde, Days and Frozen At The Moment Of Death. I’ll tell all my fellow Death Metal brethren now… get ready… cause if these three songs are any deadly indication, then, this soon to be released Undead album is gonna kick your Death Metal lovin’ asses to hell and back.

Chris Barnes has never sounded more brutal on vocals and his Six Feet Under band have unleashed 100% lethal Death Metal with Formaldehyde. Mean as hell. The riffs, the bludgeoning bass and drums, the whole damn F’n 100 yards of Death Metal fury, is all set afire by Six Feet Under, on all three songs. My Metal impression is: Six Feet Under are back in 2012 to reaffirm they are a Death Metal force to be duly reckoned with.

Still maintaining an authoritative Death Metal groove on each song, Six Feet Under instills that “underground” feel and vibe as well. So incredibly heavy are these three songs that it is nearly hallucinating. I’ll have to tell you, after listening to these new Six Feet Under songs, I want this entire album now! I don’t give a damn about how many blisters my eardrums get, from the singing Death Metal assault that this band administers. Hell no.

In my Metal opinion, Undead is gonna be a mammoth Death Metal milestone for Six Feet Under. Hell yeah it’s gonna be. Metal. Be. Thy. Name.

SIX FEET UNDER – Announce 18 Nights Of Blood Tour 2012; Dying Fetus and Revocation to Support

Death Metal miscreants SIX FEET UNDER today announces a bout of U.S. live rituals this June. Dubbed the 18 Nights Of Blood Tour, the bestial invasion will begin in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8 and ravage its way across the country before coming to a close on June 29 in Tampa, Florida. Support will be provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation. The band will be touring in support of their upcoming ninth full-length, Undead, scheduled for North American release this Spring.

SPAWN OF POSSESSION – Cracks Billboard Heatseekers And Hard Music Charts With ‘INCURSO’

CANNIBAL CORPSE ‘Torture’ First-Week Sales Revealed – Crashing In On Billboard Top 200!

BEAK – “HANDS COLLIDE” VIDEO AVAILABLE NOW

Chicago – Beak, the post-metal quartet formed by local Chicago luminaries Chris Eichenseer and Jason Goldberg previously of The Timeout Drawer, release  the “Hands Collide” video, the first single from their forthcoming release Eyrie (Apr. 3, Someoddpilot Records) today at www.vimeo.com/33769868.

The “Hands Collide” video is a dark and claustrophobic nightmare, a literal collision of worlds – a not-quite family man and his late-night hunting safaris through the city’s suburbs.  The clip was directed by Chris Eichenseer of Someoddpilot and shot on the North side of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.

Eyrie, the band’s five-track debut album, was recorded and mixed in late-2011 at Engine Studios by Neil Strauch (Sage Francis, Bonnie Prince Billy) and early feedback on the release has been extremely positive with Metal Odyssey calling the album “an extreme, modern and uncompromising post-metal debut” and Hellride Music adding “Think Hum but much, much, much heavier.”
