KRAMPUS – Kronos’ Heritage: 3 Song EP Admirably Blazes With Both Melodic and Extreme Folk Metal

KRAMPUS – When it comes to Folk Metal, the European vibe and feel is an unavoidable experience for me. Italy’s Krampus takes their very own beauty and the beast style with Melodic Death Folk Metal and serves it up in a manner so splendid and Extreme, that it’s downright irresistable to my Metal senses. Whoever says woodwinds are not Metal must be taken for a long walk behind the abandoned tool shed and be given to the wolves. The flute may lend beauty to the Folk Metal that Krampus plays, only it serves as a more important and sturdy foundation to this unique sound that swirls about freely amidst the beast, which I’ll also call: the heaviness.

While I listen to Krampus, I often times cannot believe I’m hearing such a marriage of musical instruments come together so astonishingly and simultaneously melodic and brutal. Krampus brings their brand of Melodic Death Folk Metal to a level of credibility that is overwhelmingly convincing. If a three song EP is going to capture anyone’s attention, it must deliver from every musical angle. Kronos’ Heritage does deliver continuously in a melodic approach while Extreme Death Metal vocals are a dominant factor. A compelling element about the style of Krampus, is the vocals never bury the music and vice versa.

While the flute keeps time with the accelerated beats of the rhythm section as the guitar riffs are being fired about, Krampus plays Metal at break-neck speed. All this is while any tempo shifts and time changes that occur, seem to do so with a fluidity that seamlessly fools the consciousness. Krampus is so worth checking out if you haven’t done so already. This is a band that is playing some very real and extraordinary Metal. Krampus embellishes their songs with amazing balance, with their skillful musical respect towards both melody and extremity. That commands my upmost Metal respect.

French Black Metal goliaths, GLORIOR BELLI, recently issued a video teaser for upcoming new full-length, The Great Southern Darkness. Check it out now at Revolvermag.com.

The Great Southern Darkness offers up 11 tracks that magnify  GLORIOR BELLI‘s finest qualities: Debilitatingly fast, yet simultaneously dark and swampy with all the Americana/Stoner/Blues elements the band and their fans have come to embrace. Said Revolver in an advance review of the record: “The album combines vicious Black Metal riffery with deep New Orleans Stoner grooves to create a Metal monolith that is equal parts northern blaze and southern trendkill.”

Formed in the suburbs of Paris during the close of 2002, what began as a noxious duo soon became an untamable beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge. Lyrics and themes explored throughout the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebel-ism and a sense of poetry. Today, the name GLORIOR BELLI has garnered a stellar reputation in the Extreme music community for mixing desert rock textures with the brutal, ominous, doom-laden vibe typical of Black Metal. But don’t bother trying to restrain that which cannot be confined, for this is merely the greatest curse of the cosmic scheme.

The Great Southern Darkness is scheduled for a North America release on September 27, 2011 via Metal Blade Records.

ANA KEFR – Announce U.S. National Tour For October – November 2011!

California-based extreme Prog-Metal band ANA KEFR have released the tour dates for their upcoming month-long U.S. tour in October-November, all in support of their recently released, critically acclaimed second full-length album “The Burial Tree (II)” (Muse Sick Records), the follow-up to 2009’s debut “Volume 1” (Muse Sick).

Regarding the tour, ANA KEFR frontman and keyboardist Rhiis D. Lopez commented: “Ana Kefr is a D.I.Y. band to the core, and this tour is an in-house job down to the smallest of details. There are plenty of bands constantly on the road, but the majority of the longer tours are backed by labels and booking agents. Our tour was organized by myself and Fonzie (Alphonso Jimenez, bass), and as such you’ll see we’re playing everything from larger stages to sweaty underground Metal bars. GORGOROTH: Norwegian Black Metal Kings Announce The Sign Of Hell Tour 2011

This Fall, Norwegian Black Metal overlords GORGOROTH will embark on their longest trek yet. Set to level over 30 cities throughout Europe, the unholy march, appropriately dubbed the Sign Of Hell Tour 2011, will coincide with the band’s upcoming re-release of Under The Sign Of Hell. Initially unleashed to unsuspecting ears in 1997, Under The Sign Of Hell was re-recorded last year at Tomas Asklund’s Monolith Studio with financial support by Bergen Kommune, and is scheduled for release on August 29, 2011 via Regain Records. Pest and Infernus repeat their roles as vocalist and guitarist/bassist, respectively, while Asklund takes a seat on the drum stool. EYEHATEGOD – Last month, New Orleans’ own existential Hardcore Blues oddballs, EYEHATEGOD, successfully completed their near-month long Retox And Nihilism Over Europe Tour alongside Japanese doomers, Church Of Misery. The trek saw Louisiana’s favorite miscreants level over 20 cities, which included stops at Hellfest in France, Kriston Festin Spain, GSM Fest in Portugal, the Roskilde Fest in Denmark and the Stoned From The Underground Festival in Germany.
Commented Mike Williams of the experience: “We returned in mental puzzle pieces from a destructive, albeit highly functional European/Scandinavian tour with Church of Misery, bringing them to the usual EU haunts such as Paris, London, and Berlin etc… plus a few previously unvisited locales such as Helsinki and the former Soviet Bloc country Estonia. One highlight amongst many was playing in the middle of the people’s revolution in Athens, Greece and playing the almighty fests such as Stoned From The Underground and Hellfest. EYEHATEGOD performed new material on this educational insanity tour.”

DESALMADO – Hereditas: This Is Grindcore, This Is Extreme Metal… That Decimates The Senses

DESALMADO – On August 16h, 2011, via Greyhaze Records, Brazilian Grindcore band DESALMADO will have their Hereditas EP released as a 10″ vinyl and digital download. DESALMADO are from São Paulo, Brazil, being well known around South America over recent years under the name El Fuego. This Hereditas EP is the precursor to their forthcoming debut full-length, being produced by Jean Dolabella of Sepultura and is set for release via Greyhaze Records later in 2011.

The total running time for the six songs digested on Hereditas is fifteen minutes… and it’s fifteen minutes of 200% Grindcore savagery in all of it’s ruthless enormity. Metal be thy name, if you are looking to get your eardrums scoured by fifteen minutes of grinding extremity, Hereditas is the solution. DESALMADO puts a clamorous stamp on why Grindcore is a credible and growing, international Metal sub-genre.

The blast beats, riffs and excessively fast and unrestrained sound from Hereditas that penetrates my senses is without question, extremely intoxicating. Vocally monstrous, bordering on maniacal… and that’s exactly how it should sound and feel like. Listening to DESALMADO is accepting willingly, a grinding Metal assailment which decimates the senses and there is no clinical way to explain it any further than that. Forget power or psyche-out vibes, this is bombardment, a voluntary acceptance of an Extreme Metal invasion upon my ears and brain.

Lyrically speaking out against abuse of power and not conforming to idiotic idealism, DESALMADO have something to say. If you’re looking to get obliterated from fifteen minutes of Grindcore and Extreme Metal demolishment, then take my sound Metal advice and pick up Hereditas from DESALMADO… it will kick your ass and serve you right simultaneously.

Cleveland Horrorcore Giant MARGIN OF ERROR Confirmed To Play DIRTFEST!

Cleveland Horrorcore giant MARGIN OF ERROR has been confirmed to play the annual DIRTFEST on August 13 in Birch Run, MI @ Birch Run Expo Center. Also playing DIRTFEST are All That Remains, Alien Ant Farm, Times Of Grace, Silverstein, Egypt Central, among many others.

MARGIN OF ERROR will be playing on the Party Armour Stage at 2:00 EST.  Make sure you check out the band’s incredibly tight onslaught of extreme Horrorcore. Be there and be square!  The band also recently released quite the controversial music video for their banger “Your Life In Playback”.

DIRTFEST started in 1997 as an outlet for promoters Matt Dalton and Kurt Gust to showcase their bands at the time. Locals would refer to Birch Run as “Dirt Run” since there was little more to do than play in the dirt of the small town. Each year, Dalton expanded the DIRTFEST and eventually the festival became big enough to host national acts as Four Year Strong, Silverstein, Every Time I Die, Mayday Parade, and The Black Dahlia Murder to play alongside the many local Michigan bands.

This year DIRTFEST expands on that idea by once again including local and national metal acts, and also bringing hard rock bands into the mix as well. DIRTFEST 2011 will return to The Birch Run Expo Center and takes place August 13th.

ACHREN – Confirm Long Awaited Album Release Details

GLORIOR BELLI: French Black Metal Collective Premiere New Track From “The Great Southern Darkness”

French Black Metal collective, GLORIOR BELLI, are pleased to unveil the first single, “Secret Ride To Rebellion,” off their upcoming new full-length, The Great Southern Darkness. Scheduled for a North America release on September 27, 2011 via Metal Blade Records, the record finds the band at their most ravaging.

Comments vocalist/guitarist Julien of the tune: “‘Secret Ride To Rebellion’ begins furiously with the right mix of blackened tremolos, catchy melodies and wicked words. Then slowly, the track reaches a frenzy point over the last minutes of dark incantations. Sorry pal, you’ve just been exposed to the black light and there’s no return from there!”

The Great Southern Darkness features 11 tracks that magnify all the best elements of GLORIOR BELLI in a twisted, gritty, wholly unique way; dangerously violent and fast, yet simultaneously dark and swampy with all the Americana/Stoner/Blues elements the band has come to embrace. Formed in the suburbs of Paris during the close of 2002, what began as a noxious duo soon became an untamable beast, acting as a beacon for everyone looking to free themselves of the influence of the Demiurge.

Lyrics and themes explored throughout the years reveal a sincere inclination for rebel-ism and a developed sense of poetry. Today, GLORIOR BELLI has garnered a stellar reputation in the Extreme Music community for mixing desert rock textures with the brutal, ominous, Doom-laden vibe typical of Black Metal. But don’t bother trying to restrain that which cannot be confined, for this is merely the greatest curse of the cosmic scheme.

HYPNO5E – Release Live Video From Recent Australian Tour

French Extreme Metal / Art Rockers HYPNO5E have unveiled a video of live extracts from their recent Australian Tour with Truth Corroded, and The Amenta (Listenable Records) and Ruins on select dates.  The video shows a heavier side of the band, as well as a snippet from a new song.

GOREAPHOBIA: Legendary Death Metallers Join Dark Descent Records; New Album To Street August 9th, 2011!

Legendary Philadelphia Death Metal battalion, GOREAPHOBIA, are pleased to join forces with Dark Descent Records for the release of their long-anticipated new full-length, Apocalyptic Necromancy. Slated for release on August 9, 2011, the follow-up to 2009’s Mortal Repulsion, was recorded, mixed and mastered by drummer Jim Roe and features new guitarist VJS (Kult ov Azazel, Crimson Moon, Demoncy, etc.). 
 
Commented Dark Descent label head Matt Calvert of the signing: “When the opportunity presented itself to release the new GOREAPHOBIA album, the choice was easy. Those who are familiar with the underground know that GOREAPHOBIA has a longstanding reputation of producing some of the filthiest Death Metal around. I’m more than excited to be a part of this new chapter of the band. After speaking to each member personally, it became very apparent that GOREAPHOBIA and Dark Descent Records are a perfect fit and I look forward to helping spread their message to not only long-time fans, but new ones as well.”

VALDUR: California Black Metal Squadron To Annihilate Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Fest; Band To Perform Live On KDVS/Raise The Dead This Week

California Kult Black Metallers, VALDUR, will ravage unsuspecting ears at this year’s edition of the Rockstar Energy Drink Mayhem Festival. The band was recently added to the July 10th show at the Shoreline Amphitheater in San Francisco, California where they will systematically level the Jagermeister Stage and all those in attendance. Said the band in a collective statement: “We will be more than pleased to take this opportunity to play our Extreme Metal to unsuspecting people who otherwise may not be familiar with the underground.  We got asked to play, we said yes, and we very much appreciate Jagemeister for the invite. Expect a brutalizing set.”

BEER CORPSE – “Keg Nuts” 7″: Roll Out Them Kegs O’ Beer, Cause It’s A Grindcore & Thrashcore Blitz!

BEER CORPSE – Released back on April 27th, 2011, on Give Praise Records, is the 7″ from the Grindcore/Thrashcore outfit that is known across the planet as: Beer Corpse. This grind’em and thrash’em band is from down under. Um, that’s Australia, for those of you who live in that remote cave in the god forsaken woods of Maine. Whoever said “Beer Corpse is Australian for Extreme Metal” should have a 50 foot statue made of them in Metal. Oh, I said that. Cool.

Beer Corpse don’t hold back on serving out the aggressively punishing riffs, beats and monstrously brutal vocals. On a rather serious Metal note here, if you are a fan of Grindcore and Thrashcore, then you are in for an all-out blitz of grinding, growling, gurgling, chugging, riffing and blast beatin’ swell o’ time with what Beer Corpse plays on Keg Nuts. Beer Corpse should also be embraced by hardcore Death Metal and Thrash Metal fans alike, with their unapologetic and quite impressive cross-over sound appeal.

To put Keg Nuts in a Metal nutshell, this is the 7″ you want to pull out and play F’n extremely loud when your prissy neighbors are having their annual family reunion in their backyard. Beer Corpse is THE Extreme Metal band to agitate and confuse the mainstream masses, while us fellow Metal minions of the damned shall raise this band upon our shoulders, as we march to F’n Metal victory… towards our glorious field of beer kegs.

The Power Of The Riff Adds EYEHATEGOD, BLACK COBRA And More To Main Festival; Second TPOTR Event In Seattle Confirmed

As previously announced, Southern Lord and The Power Of The Riff have announced a series of events scheduled to attack the West Coast this August. The lineup for the second annual all-day TPOTR festival kicking off the four-show venture in Los Angeles on August 13 was just expanded, adding Eyehategod, Black Cobra, Baptists, Seven Sisters Of Sleep and others to the phenomenal list of bands already scheduled to play, also including Pentagram, Winter, Pelican, Trap Them, All Pigs Must Die, Acephalix and more! An additional The Power Of The Riff event will be scheduled in Los Angeles, this same week, so stay tuned for the details to be announced shortly.

Following the festival in L.A., the TPOTR hits San Francisco for two full nights of mayhem. The first night will see Winter, Noothgrush, Trap Them, Black Breath, All Pigs Must Die, Acephalix and more hitting the stage at Elbo Room, and the following night will see Pentagram, Pelican, Alpinist, Masakari, Early Graves, Baptists, Aeges and more storming The Mezzanine.

Moving further north, on August 18, Seattle’s infamous Neumo’s will showcase Winter, Pelican, Noothgrush, All Pigs Must Die, Alpinist, Masakari and Aeges hitting the stage together. AND, a SECOND Seattle-based TPOTR event has also just been announced, with a d-beat lineup set to bring down the roof of The Highline on August 20, with From Ashes Rise, Black Breath, Trap Them and Baptists hitting the stage, and with more bands to be announced soon!
