Dark Descent Records and Me Saco Un Ojo are thrilled to announce the release of Binah’s debut, Hallucinating in Resurrecture. Despite none of the band’s members being newcomers to Underground Metal, the entity that is Binah has spawned what is certain to be remembered as one of this year’s weightiest and hungriest-sounding full-length recordings.

Spanning ten tracks of morbid-sounding death, Hallucinating in Resurrecture captures the UK trio’s concoction of obscure and primordial sounds; one that makes no secret of their Finnish, Dutch and Swedish (even some U.S. via Autopsy and Morbid Angel) prime inspirations, yet oozes a dense ambiance that’s distinctly their own.

Whether exploring fast and serpentine sections or sparser and more reflective passages; this beast remains unrestrained in its intensity. Focusing on its song-craft and otherworldly in its vibes; familiar yet eerie, Hallucinating in Resurrecture is pure death.

Band To Embark Upon 18 Nights Of Blood Tour Next Month

Death Metal ministers SIX FEET UNDER today announces the addition of rhythm guitarist Ola Englund to their legendary ranks. Englund, who will make his first official appearance with the band on the 18 Nights Of Blood Tour set to commence next month, takes the place of Rob Arnold.

Comments founding vocalist Chris Barnes of the new recruit: “Ola is an amazing guitarist and was chosen for his superlative technique and style of playing. We believe he will be the perfect complement to Steve Swanson, and the devastating rhythm section that is Talley/Hughell. Steve, Kevin, Jeff and myself are so looking forward to Ola’s entrance into the band upon the release of Undead and the commencement of our first tour next month with Dying Fetus and Revocation. We can’t wait for you to witness the new killing machine that is SIX FEET UNDER! Ola takes over duties for our good friend and death metal warrior Rob Arnold who will be retiring from touring but will remain a central writing partner and fellow collaborator on future SFU releases. We are all sad to not have Rob on the road with us, but are confidant and 110% psyched that Ola is now within the ranks of the Undead and will be ready to lay waste to every stop along the way! Hails!”

Adds Englund: “When I got the call from Chris, it felt unreal; first thing that popped up in my head was, ‘why the hell did he want me — the total gear nerd from Sweden — to join his awesome band? To be able to share the stage with one of the biggest icons in Death Metal and the other killer musicians in SFU is a complete honor and a dream come true for me. I couldn’t be happier about the situation! Also the new album blew my mind the first time I heard it, it’s intense as hell, but still has the riffs and the grooves that SIX FEET UNDER swears by. Undead was officially released in North America today via Metal Blade Records. Called “the best thing SFU have recorded since Maximum Violence,” in a recent 8/10 review by Decibel Magazine, the record was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver), mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy) and features the recording line up of Barnes alongside guitarist Rob Arnold (ex- Chimaira), longtime guitarist Steve Swanson (ex-Massacre), bassist Jeff Hughell (ex-Brain Drill, ex-Vile), and drummer Kevin Talley (Dying Fetus, Misery Index, Chimaira).

To celebrate its release SIX FEET UNDER will slaughter souls on a near three-week run of live ceremonies this June. The 18 Nights Of Blood Tour will begin in Atlanta, Georgia on June 8. Support will be provided by Dying Fetus and Revocation.

NOVEMBERS DOOM’s Paul Kuhr and Mike Feldman Launch CHARRED OWEN Vinyl Label

Paul Kuhr and Mike Feldman of U.S. Death/Doom pioneers NOVEMBERS DOOM have officially launched CHARRED OWEN, a record label catering to vinyl enthusiasts and collectors. Below is a statement from Paul about the label.

Having a mutual love for what is collectable and a vinyl format now considered classic, Novembers Doom members Paul Kuhr and Mike Feldman have brought to life a newly formed record label. CHARRED OWEN was created out of nostalgia and a desire to see our own work released on a timeless format, vinyl. Not only is it collectable, but no other format has even been able to capture the full beauty of cover art, along with a tonal warmth only vinyl could bring.

We will start with a collaboration with The End Records to release select Novembers Doom titles, starting with “APHOTIC” available June 19th, but we won’t stop there. Plans for other releases in the future are already in the works, with other bands in consideration.

As musicians in the Metal industry and fans of the same genre, our goal with CHARRED OWEN is to create collectable quality vinyl, from talented bands. We have many plans for the future, and we’re looking forward to seeing it all come to life.

ZONARIA – Swedish Death Metal Pack Signs With Listenable Records

Scheduled for North American release on May 22, 2012 through Metal Blade Records, Undead was produced by Mark Lewis (Deicide, Devildriver) and mixed by Jason Suecof (Whitechapel, Job For A Cowboy) at Audio Hammer Studios in Sanford, Florida.

WARFATHER – Ex-Morbid Angel Member Steve Tucker Forms New Death Metal Unit; Signs To Greyhaze Records

Greyhaze Records is proud to announce the formation and signing of brand new Death Metal act WARFATHER, a devastating new unit conceived by ex-Morbid Angel gladiator Steve Tucker!

In a statement on what Metal fans are to expect from WARFATHER, Tucker stated: “This is my new band; it will be my main focus…. it is my kind of Death Metal.” Having been known for his vocal and bass skills in all of his previous acts, while still holding down vocal duties here, Tucker has moved on to guitar with this project. “I have always played the guitar and I think now is the time for me to make the move. I think doing solos and extra guitar parts will allow me to express myself in a whole new way!”

Also on guitars is Armatura, formerly of Cincinnati-based Death Metal band Dominion. Recruited to the drum kit is Deimos, a Death Metal veteran currently playing in the band Temple and also having played with bands such as Severe Torture. The bass is dispatched by Nick McMaster (Krallice, Nader Sadek, Castevet). Additional guitar contributions will be tracked by friends of WARFATHER, which include many notable Death Metal stalwarts; full details will be announced shortly.

WARFATHER are currently in the final stages of tracking the yet-to-be-titled album, with mixing to take place immediately after. Tucker himself is producing the entire release, as he did for the 2011-released Nader Sadek album In the Flesh, which Tucker also performed on. The artwork is in the final stages as well, and will be unveiled shortly, along with the details on the album, which is being slated for release this Fall. Upon its’ release, WARFATHER will take their battle to the highways of the planet on tour in support of the album.

After starting out as vocalist/bassist for Death/Thrash act Ceremony, Steve Tucker moved on to handle bass and vocals on Morbid Angel’s infamous Formulas Fatal to the Flesh, Gateways to Annihilation and Heretic LPs. In 2009 Tucker was recruited to take part in the Nader Sadek album In the Flesh for release through then brand new label Greyhaze Records and licensed to Season of Mist Records. The project also featured Flo Mounier (Cryptopsy), Rune Eriksen (Mayhem, Ava Inferi) and more. During this time Tucker struck up a great relationship with Greyhaze Records, and together they decided to bring the reality of WARFATHER to fruition.

MASTIC SCUM – Sign To Massacre Records

We want to introduce you to our latest signing, MASTIC SCUM from Austria!

The four-piece was originally formed in 1992. A year later, the band released their first 12” EP “Ephemeral Cerebral Butchery”. Several demos, EPs and split CDs followed, leading to the release of their debut album “Zero” in the summer of 1999 through Noise Variations.

Within the following years, MASTIC SCUM released their albums “Scar” (Cudgel Agency, 2002), “Mind” (Cudgel Agency, 2005) and the latest album “Dust” (Twilight Rec., 2009), which was nominated for an Amadeus Austrian Music Award in 2010.

The band has already played a lot of club and festival shows in Europe, Asia and the US, joining Marduk and Vader at their “Funeral Nation Tour” through Europe in early 2010, for example!

There were a few line-up changes in the past years and when Alex joined vocalist Maggo, guitarist Harry and drummer Man in spring 2010 as bassist, MASTIC SCUM were stronger than ever!

“We are proud to announce that we signed a worldwide deal with one of our favorite labels. We know Massacre Records since quite a long time and are happy to be a part of it now!”

The band’s currently working on their fifth studio album, which is scheduled to be released in fall 2012!

SIX FEET UNDER “UNDEAD” – A Merciless Sonic Experience Of Death Metal

SIX FEET UNDER – Picture the scene: A crowded supermarket parking lot, with speed bumps every ten feet and customers walking blindly in front of my car; at the pace of a pack of turtles with blistered bunions. That’s exactly what I encountered yesterday while attempting to drive into this supermarket parking lot and park my car. So, what did Stone do? I cranked up the new Six Feet Under Undead CD to its maximum volume and rolled them car windows down. It didn’t make these antagonistic strangers move any faster… yet the few looks of disgust that were thrown my way did provide (some) sweet Metal victory for Stone.

Cranking up this Undead CD during my lengthy moment of social impoliteness was the perfect Metal prescription for me. Hell, if they didn’t want you to play CD’s loud in a car, then they should equip stereos to not exceed the “number 4” on volume. So let it be Metal written, so let it be Metal told. Now, onward with this primo Death Metal album and I’m gonna tell you just how ecstatic I am about it.

Undead is the total Death Metal package. I mean, I cannot describe it any better than that. I wrote an earlier review on a three song sampler from this Undead album and praised Six Feet Under for what I absorbed sonically. Listening to and enjoying the entire Undead album only solidifies my Metal points made from that prior review.

The addition of new bassist Jeff Hughell sounds like a perfect Death Metal match to me. Chris Barnes is undisputedly a vocal icon to Death Metal, he has shown his band the way to Metal glory and Death Metal domination with studio album #9. The crowded pool of younger Death Metal bands, that want to make a name for themselves, should utilize Undead as (one of) their Death Metal textbooks.

A fireball bounty of heavy, heavy, heaviness and thick grooves saturates this album. Aggressive and still coming across polished in a raw Death Metal sort of way; Six Feet Under cannot help themselves if they are talented as hell and play damn tight. Kevin Talley on drums is an amazing listen, I get drawn into his playing for he mixes things up and adds many dynamite fills. Steve Swanson and Rob Arnold create the mind-bending riffs, tones and rhythms, their guitars lend some haunting vibes that compliments the vocals of Chris Barnes.

A favorite song of mine on Undead is Delayed Combustion Device. The Scar and Formaldehyde are unreal killer songs as well. Undead flows together so fine, no song is out-of-place. A Death Metal must it is. I will admit, It’s a grand year when both Six Feet Under and Cannibal Corpse release new studio albums. Death Metal fans of all generations have a lot to celebrate about in 2012 and Six Feet Under is one substantial reason why. Metal be thy name.

Ancient Egypt-themed Death Metal act NILE have just revealed the cover artwork of their upcoming album: ‘’At The Gate Of Sethu’’

Artwork was handled this time by a true genius of darkened visuals, Seth Siro Anton (Soilwork, Paradise Lost, SepticFlesh).

Band mastermind Karl Sanders commented:

“Seth Siro Anton has designed the cover. I have been a fan of SEPTIC FLESH a long time, and as Seth expressed interest, I knew that he would deliver a great job.

CANNIBAL CORPSE – Being released on March 13th, 2012, via Metal Blade Records, Torture is the 12th full-length album from Death Metal’s reigning genre headliner and pissed-off pack of pit bulls known world-wide as: CANNIBAL CORPSE. Make no mistake, these guys can play their instruments and write some of the most bone chilling and skull crunching Death Metal this side of the anti-mainstream. CANNIBAL CORPSE has proven their dominant status as Death Metal defenders once again with Torture. In my Metal opinion they are just that.

I find it humorous when someone says to me, “oh, CANNIBAL CORPSE, yeah, I used to listen to ’em”. Well, this album isn’t for the “used to be fans” that in reality are hypocrites that secretly sit through numerous SAW movie marathons. Closet CANNIBAL CORPSE fans shouldn’t worry about what the neighbors may think, for it’s these same neighbors that are usually arrested for unspeakable crimes anyways. In other words, this is a legendary Death Metal band and so be it that their lyrics mirror the stories being aired on 24 hour cable news networks… during suppertime no less.

The continued existence of CANNIBAL CORPSE is not due to a small group of band devotees asking them to stick around, it’s all about a more massive global underground acceptance of a band that isn’t intimidated to push the envelope lyrically while never-ceasing to improve musically from one album to the next. This album isn’t carrying its Torture title for nothing. The songs on Torture are lyrically symbolic of what truly scares the living shit out of you, while keeping true to the Death Metal grooves that have made CANNIBAL CORPSE such an embracing, no bullshit and non-technical extreme outfit.

Torture isn’t just for CANNIBAL CORPSE diehards, this album will undoubtedly be a stepping stone listen for new fans of this band as well. From Demented Aggression to Torn Through, George “Corpsegrinder” Fisher belts out his guttural growls and vocally pronounces the lyrics in a way only us Death Metal fanatics can understand. Metal truth be told, Corpsegrinder sounds as deathly dangerous as he ever has before. Amazing and terrifying vocals.

Man, them deadly leads,riffs and solos are non-stop on Torture; with guitarists Pat O’Brien and Rob Barrett proving to me, they are a world-class Death Metal duo. Hell, this entire band is world-class Death Metal for that Metal matter. I’m always going goofy and I play some serious air guitar every time I listen to Torture. Really. Founding members Alex Webster (bass) and Paul Mazurkiewicz (drums) keep the Metal grooves smashing along; they play super tight and their beats are probably capable of (or responsible for) making seismic scales register earth tremors.

My favorite three songs on Torture are: Scourge Of Iron, Rabid and Encased In Concrete. Whoa. Scourge Of Iron just has a steady marching Death Metal beat; one that could seriously scare away any alien attack on our beloved planet Earth. Encased In Concrete and Rabid are 100% lethal in their overall extremity of sound. Brilliant songs.

With Torture, the lyrics and Death Metal go hand-in-hand and are thoroughly entertaining for my scorched eardrums. For me, Torture has earned its status as one of the very best from the CANNIBAL CORPSE catalog and one of the very best of Metal albums (overall) in 2012. A headbanging must this Torture album is. Metal be thy name.

VORE – Signs With Germany’s AFM Records

The long-awaited follow-up to 2005’s Maleficus, Gravehammer, sees VORE’s battle-ready brand of Death Metal taken to a new level of intensity and aggression.

VORE has been cranking out their unique blend of crushing, doom-laden Death Metal since 1994.
