EST. DJ Buz will discuss all things Hemoptysis with Masaki, Travis, and Sanao, as well as a full broadcast of the debut album Misanthropic Slaughter. Hemoptysis full length debut Misanthropic Slaughter is now available in stores throughout Europe via Rock It Up Records, the European version includes the music video for Shadow of Death as a bonus feature. ELIMINATOR – Edison New Jersey’s ELIMINATOR have just released their cover of “Angel of Death” by SLAYER.  The song can be heard/viewed HERE.  The band is a two piece of “Black Speed” Metal as singer/guitarist Warchild has described. Along with drummer Samus (Decrepit Birth, ex-Mutiny Within, ex-Abigail Williams, ex-Suspyre), the two have just released their second full length album The One They Were Waiting For.

The band released their highly popular and sold out debut album Breaking the Wheel which was quickly followed by their latest, The One They Were Waiting For. The band is already hard at work on the next album and are in the process of recording another jaw dropping SLAYER cover.

Metal Odyssey Spotlight On: Marc Broude – Psychological Warfare – 2 Songs of Industrial Metal and Noise!

MARC BROUDE – My never ending Metal quest to find Metal talent that is unsigned, DIY and real has crossed paths with an Industrial Metal and Noise musician known as: Marc Broude. The Metal Odyssey Spotlight is on Marc Broude and his 2 song EP: Psychological Warfare. Marc is the vocalist and plays all instruments on his music.

I liken the sound of Marc Broude’s music to that of Industrial Metal, where Marc is very down with that tag, he also considers his music to be representative of the Noise genre. Marc is from Chicago, Illinois and had started recording while living in a squatter artist collective back in 2005. During 2005, Marc started out in the Chicago based Noise outfit called: Panicsville. A cross-genre composer, Marc has played in various bands which represented genres of: Black Metal, Grindcore, Punk and Noise. If diversity is the key to Metal success, then Marc has associated with some hefty Metal diversity in the course of seven years.

I really appreciate the overwhelming heaviness, experimentalism and mixture of distortion that Marc has implemented into his music’s sound. Marc’s vocals seem to arise from the dark depths of the damned, while his guitar riffs and drumming create a wall of sound that engulfs my surroundings with a nightmarish, bazaar of the living dead mood and atmosphere. Perfect.

I can see a promising Metal future for Marc, his DIY work ethic, multi-tasking, multi-instrument competency and musical inventiveness should eventually draw some credible attention. Marc feels getting his music heard is more important than making money from it… that’s the characteristic of a real musician and an artist who believes in what he’s created.

* Originally released in 2006 as a 50 piece limited edition 7″ which became out of print, Psychological Warfare was digitally remixed for re-release. Distribution is through IODA and Psychological Warfare will be available at all digital music stores, with the CD being available on Amazon and Tower in about a month from now.

* In 2009, Marc released a 72 minute, Dark Ambient dirge titled: Rites of Zen and Medicine. This release displayed a drastic change in Marc’s sound, with a fusion of free improvisation and Avant-Garde Jazz.

Described as “The soundtrack to your RAWR” – “WELCOME TO YOUR HOLIDAY” comes off of the band’s forthcoming – as yet untitled – sophomore effort and provides a second preview as to how the bands new album and continually developing sound is shaping up.

“It’s got a dirty, dark rock vibe to it with these completely crazy lyrics that narrate a key moment in our new album..” multi-instrumentalist and vocalist DieTrich Thrall commented. “It’s short and sweet. Skumf***erz times 100..”

“Woke up in a graveyard..” multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Nikk Skum added playfully.

The band most recently released a cover of MOTLEY CRUE’s “LIVE WIRE” which was promptly  hailed by rock legends Nikki Sixx and Tommy Lee as both “Killer” and a “Fucking wicked version!” respectively.

DARKEST HOUR: Shoots A New Music Video For “Love As A Weapon” – Plus Summer Slaughter Tour Dates!

(New York, NY) — DARKEST HOUR have just wrapped up the video shoot for “Love As A Weapon” off their latest release “The Human Romance.” Directed by Scott Hansern, the video takes on a very traditional performance approach to metal videos.

Guitarist Mike Schleibaum comments, “Filming the video with producer Scott Hansen was totally bad ass! Filming on a rooftop above our hometown of Washington, DC, with hail and lightning storms in the distance made for an epic filming experience. The final product will include us performing coupled with time lapsed montages of both majestic and disgusting footage. The contrast of these will surely make for a sick piece of metal videography.”

The band has also announced their participation in this year’s SUMMER SLAUGHTER tour. They’ll be supporting THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER and WHITECHAPEL alongside SIX FEET UNDER and DYING FETUS. Keep an eye on the official Summer Slaughter Facebook page for more info!

KITTIE – Announces Headlining 2011 Summer Tour & New Album Update

(New York, NY) — Veteran road warriors, KITTIE will be hitting the road this summer on a headlining run spanning the entire U.S. including the notorious “Gathering Of The Juggalos” festival. DIRGE WITHIN andDIAMOND PLATE will offer support.

The band has been in the studio since April recording their yet untitled new record. What promises to be a grittier record than their previous effort “In the Black,” front woman Morgan Lander offers her own words:

“We have been working exceptionally hard, crafting what is to be our 6th full length release, and our second for eOne. In some cases these new songs are faster, darker and much more sinister than our previous release. It contains some of the most difficult and personal subject matter I have had the pleasure (or displeasure) of writing.”

Once again the band has enlisted the producing talent of Siegfried“Siggy” Meier at Beach Road Studios in Goderich Ontario, Canada.“The girls have written some incredible and personal songs this time around. They’re heavy as shit and relentless. It’s a pleasure and an honor to be doing another record with one of the best metal bands of our time,” says Meier. The new record will be released later this year.

KITTIE released “In the Black” in 2009 to critical acclaim, “Kittie’s fifth record sees the gals back in heavier form, with Morgan’s much-improved clean vocals soaring alongside mountain-sized riffage.” says Revolver Magazine. Masaki Murashita – Hemoptysis Frontman Launches MasakiMurashita.com!

The Neologist – Releases New Songs and Launches Official Website

THE NEOLOGIST – Coming off the release of their debut album, The 26 Letters of Your Universe, Gothenburg styled melodic metal two piece THE NEOLOGIST have been hard at work on new material.

The band is currently working on their next album tentatively titled The Promise of Eternal Separation which is set to be released in the fall of 2011.

THE NEOLOGIST is simultaneously recording the first of several IN FLAMES cover albums which they will be titling In Flames We Trust: Volume 1.  Thus far they have recorded and released “Jotun”, “Jester Script Transfigured”, and “Ordinary Story”.  The band is taking requests from fans via their Facebook, YouTube, and Homepage on which IN FLAMES songs should be covered on the album.  They also released 2 comical music videos for “Jotun” and “Jester Script Transfigured” which can be viewed on their YouTube account.

An official website has been launched for THE NEOLOGIST where fans can get up to date information and free music.  The new website is www.theneologist.net .  Fans can also leave the band messages via their website for which IN FLAMES songs should be covered next.

Most importantly, the band is giving away their music for FREE and encourage people to download their entire album and share the music.  The entire The 26 Letters of Your Universe album along with the 3 released IN FLAMES covers can all be downloaded for free via the bands BandCamp profile.

THORNAFIRE – To Open For SLAYER In Santiago, June 2nd, 2011

On June 2nd, 2011, Chilean Death Metallers THORNAFIRE have the distinct honor of warming up the stage for the almighty SLAYER when the Thrash titans bring their World Painted Blood Tour to South America. Understandably, the band is marking this occasion as a huge moment in their career as guitarist Victor Mac-Namara reflects in the following statement:

“We are very happy as musicians and fans to be part in the scenario of a Slayer concert, and opening for them in our city.The truth is that I don´t have many words to talk about it, I can only say that we will unleash our fury and vibe on stage with our sharp axes and drums to evoke the somber cry of death. In short, we hope to leave the stage like shit, but leave at least the electrical system working for Slayer to finally crush this masochistic audience with their classic tyranny.”

The announcement of this high-profile gig comes as the band is currently working hard on the anticipated follow up to 2009’s Vorex Deconstrucción. In a previously released statement regarding the forthcoming album, Mac-Namara commented, “Currently we are writing music a little different than what we have done in the past. It’s a variation, but still true to our underground Death Metal underground roots. I’m drawing concepts for the album artwork. We hope to have this released  by 2012.”

THORNAFIRE – Deconstrucción:

Deconstrucción was previously described by THORNAFIRE bassist/vocalist Alexis Munoz as a “futuristic song inspired by the religious and social decline experienced in the current era Eon oh Hourus.”

Deconstruccion comes off THORNAFIRE’s second album, Vorex Deconstrucción, which came out in July 2009 via Ibex Moon Records and is currently available at: Ibex Moon Records and  ABYSS RECORDS.

The band’s previous release, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation, is also available through Ibex Moon Records.

The video for Deconstrucción (see & hear below) was filmed, produced and edited by Daniel Duarte (a member of the fellow Chilean Death Metal act EXECRATOR) in a professional TV studio in Santiago.

MARDUK: Seven Bowls Of Wrath 2011 Tour To Commence Today!

Today, Swedish Black Metallers MARDUK begin their Seven Bowls Of Wrath 2011  North American Tour! The chaos begins tonight with a headlining slot at the Maryland Deathfest. From there, the band will systematically terrorize Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit,  Cleveland and Brooklyn with Aura Noir, Black Anvil, Panzerfaust and HOD. In addition, the New York show will include an art exhibition by Oluremi White, whose work includes pieces inspired by the band.

Said the band in a collective statement, “As MARDUK are about to begin the 7 Bowls Of Wrath Tour, we can also announce that at the New York show there will be an exclusive exhibition by New York artist Oluremi White, who will be presenting his paintings related to themes and visions based upon MARDUK songs. MARDUK will be releasing their new EP, Iron Dawn, TODAY at the Maryland Deathfest. The EP will also be available at the six additional North American shows to follow. It should be noted that the tracks included on Iron Dawn EP are conceptually different from what is being crafted for the band’s next full-length.

MARAZENE MACHINE – Mötley Crüe Members Give A Thumbs Up To “Live Wire” Cover Song

CHICAGO, IL (DLSP) – Chicago’s MARAZENE MACHINE (formerly MARAZENE) have been “swooning” over the recently posted comments by Rock legends TOMMY LEE and NIKKI SIXX about the bands digital single cover of “LIVE WIRE“. Described as an “edgy electronic/whiskey/sex-fueled rendition of the MOTLEY CRUE classic,” “LIVE WIRE” is currently available at iTunes or for free download (with email signup) for a limited time at the following location: MARAZENE MACHINE – REVERBNATION

TOMMY LEE was first to notice the track over the weekend of May 14th. “Fucking wicked version” he tweeted on the social networking juggernaut TWITTER.

“Killer” NIKKI SIXX was quick to concur in a retweet.

Mötley Crüe, currently on tour in South America, have been in the news almost daily keeping fans updated on their current whereabouts and happenings. To say they have a lot on their plate would be an understatement so the comments definitely come during a time when it would have been just as easy to say nothing at all or the track to have been overlooked altogether.

But MARAZENE MACHINE members are humbled to have been mentioned at all.

“It’s a grounded/stuck-in-his-room-for-a-YEAR kids dream come true to hear this kind of acknowledgement from a couple guys I deeply admire..” offered vocalist and multi-instrumentalist DIETRICH THRALL. “I think I’m going to wallpaper my studio with print outs”.

“Always a good feeling to get the ‘nod’ for a cover song from the guys who wrote it!” commented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist NIKK SKUM.

Over the years the independent MARAZENE MACHINE have racked up several major and impressive accomplishments. The band was quick to land three instrumental tracks on THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS and subsequent THE MATRIX RELOADED box set out of the gate then followed that up with multiple self-managed National tours with the likes of MUSHROOMHEAD, THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, PSYCLON NINE, WEDNESDAY 13, and DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY 100% DIY. MARAZENE MACHINE also took the lead in establishing themselves as “virtual” performers in SECOND LIFE, a social interactive virtual world.  

More recently the band survived the recent passing of original drummer and co-founder Kristopher “Kristov” Kemp to cancer which threatened to end their run outright. MARAZENE MACHINE abruptly went silent only to emerge after a self-imposed mourning period with an archive of 40+ songs which are on deck to be released in the coming months as digital singles and future albums.

With little industry support other than a rabid cult fan base “defying the odds” has become a calling card for one of the hardest working underground bands today.

And with a new album in the works set for Fall 2011 release, industry experts would do well to keep an eye on MARAZENE MACHINE as nabbing a quick spotlight no longer seems to be a fluke – it’s fast becoming a time-honored tradition.
