REIGN OF VENGEANCE – Announces New & Forthcoming EP

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on June 12, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

Arizona Death Maniacs REIGN OF VENGEANCE have started work on the follow-up to their 2011 release, Disemboweling Swine. Front man and founder Marshall “Fucking” Beck made the following statement about the forthcoming EP:

“REIGN OF VENGEANCE has begun pre-production on a new five song EP. I can promise that as of right now this album will be extremely dangerous, simply because of its lyrical content. The music, as always, is speaking for itself in terms of masterly crafted horror oriented brutality. Over the past couple of years I have begun to run within certain circles and have obtained knowledge about certain things that might happen to our deserving and pathetic race of humans within our near future. This will not be another meaningless gore soaked “total fucking brutal” album like the other clichés of the Death Metal genre, and this will not be like a Black Metal album that constantly attacks a force that may or may not even exist. This album addresses real forces and certain individuals that possess more power than can be contemplated by most common minds. I have always believed that music is a weapon and this album will certainly prove that. If upon its release there is not mass confusion and chaos amongst the common men and the Elite then I will be thoroughly disappointed. The name of this upcoming EP will be entitled THE FINAL SOLUTION; THE FINAL REBELLION. Expect Brutality, expect bloodshed, but above all, expect REVOLUTION.”

K-OS “Planeta Violento” – New Metal Release Is Out Now! Stone’s Metal Pick Of The Day!

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news, Thrash Metal with tags , , , , , , on June 11, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

K-OS is a Spanish Metal band that caught my Metal attention this past weekend. K-OS is from Salamanca, Spain. Planeta Violento is their new studio album and it was released on April 16th, 2012.

Planeta Violento is sung in Spanish and the Metal is very, very good. Very good. Vocalist Carlos Plaza “Dyox” has a strong delivery and projects that Metal attitude which makes the songs sound even more potent. Planeta Violento embodies great production and this band plays tight. I really dig what I’ve heard (and still listening to) from K-OS and their Metal does kick some ass aplenty.

Thrash Metal and any Metal fan who appreciates quality songs and musicianship should give K-OS a listen. This album is riff infested and will give you every opportunity to bang thy head. Air drumming to Planeta Violento is fully endorsed by Stone! (Yes, my air drumming is out-of-control while listening to Planeta Violento). Metal be thy name.

I’ve seen for myself, that you can purchase the digital album on Amazon.com and iTunes. You’ll be able to sample the songs on Planeta Violento at either of these 2 sites.

K-OS:

 Carlos Plaza “Dyox” – Voces

Gorka RC – Guitarras

Miguel Angel “Koko” – bateria y percusión

Jorge Chamorro “Hippy” – Bajo

ZOMBIEFICATION “Reaper’s Consecration” – An Ominous and Brutal Death Metal EP

Posted in Death Metal, death metal bands, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on June 11, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

ZOMBIEFICATION – Death Metal reigns in Mexico and Zombiefication are a legitimate reason as to why. Reaper’s Consecration releases August 14th, 2012, via Pulverised Records and it’s a crushing blow of intense Death Metal to the cranium. Showcasing five deathly songs of cataclysmic quality, Zombiefication has unleashed a must own EP for all Death Metal fans worldwide. Reaper’s Consecration is that seriously good.

Bludgeoning drums and bass, with tenacious guitars, produces a foundation of fury for Mr. Hitchcock’s extreme vocals to tower upon. Guttural and maniacal, the vocals of Mr. Hitchcock are a relishing listen for me. The all-encompassing spooked-out vibe from Zombiefication’s sound, coupled with the eerie nature of the lyrics only solidifies the total impact that Reaper’s Consecration has had on me. Admittedly, I can never get enough of kick-ass Death Metal!

I wish Reaper’s Consecration was not an EP and had 12 songs! All five songs are so ruthless and mighty; making for a convincing display of Death Metal command. Solid production from top to bottom and this EP still maintains a genuine underground feel. It’s my firm Metal belief, that Zombiefication can take a Metal bow for their proficient display of Death Metal thunder. This is meritorious Death Metal that they’ve created with Reaper’s Consecration. Metal be thy name.

KEEL “Larger Than Live” From 1989 – A Vinyl Find I’d Like To Show You…

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock albums, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, Music, rock music, rock music news, vinyl albums with tags , , , , , , , on June 10, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

KEEL – That’s it at the top! I recently found this 1989 KEEL album, Larger Than Live, at an antiques mall. I paid $4 for it (U.S.). Usually I’ll go to this antiques mall about once a month or so. There are a few record dealers there to visit; typically I can find and (sometimes) buy at least one or two albums on each trip. Condition always is critical with used albums; therefore I find myself passing on many potential purchases.

Passing on buying this KEEL album was not an option for me, on this day. I always listened to KEEL over the years and Ron Keel made quite a comeback with his band too; with 2010’s Streets Of Rock & Roll (Frontiers Records) proving to be an excellent Hard Rock album for my ears. Overall, this album is in excellent shape, both the jacket and vinyl. After all these years, I never owned Larger Than Live. I do own it now… and it’s on vinyl.

KEEL – 1989 Lineup:

Ron Keel – vocals & guitar

Kenny Chaisson – bass guitar & vocals

Dwain Miller – drums, vocals & percussion

Tony “The Kid” Palmucci – lead guitar

Scott Warren – keyboards & vocals

Bryan Jay – lead guitar

Larger Than Live – Track Listing:

Two new live tracks were picked for the album: Hard As Hell (Live) and Private Lies (Live).

The LARGE side represents six new studio tracks.

LARGE (All New):

Evil Wicked Mean & Nasty

Riding High

Die Fighting

Dreams Are Not Enough

So Many Good Ways To Be Bad

Fool For A Pretty Face

LIVE:

Hard As Hell (new)

Rock And Roll Animal

Private Lies (new)

Rock ‘N Roll Outlaw

The Right To Rock

Larger Than Live – (back cover)

Not much to it. The track listing and some liner notes are printed on this back cover.

______________________________

Some Larger Than Live liner notes:

Larger Than Live was released on Gold Castle Records.

Larger Than Live was produced by Ron Keel with Allen Isaacs.

The LIVE side was recorded during 2 sold out shows at the Roxy in Hollywood by Westwood One Mobile Recording, March 18th, 1989.

The LARGE side was recorded at Sound City, Van Nuys, by Allen Isaacs.

ROCK OF AGES Wins Metal Odyssey’s Chicken Crap Movie Soundtrack Of 2012! Plus Some More Metal and Rock ‘N Roll Thoughts for Sunday, June 10th, 2012

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, movie soundtracks, movies, Music, rock albums, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on June 10, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

CHICKEN CRAP MOVIE SOUNDTRACK OF 2012:

___________________________________

It’s Sunday, June 10th, 2012 and I’m passing along some more Metal and Rock ‘N Roll thoughts. If money and time were not an issue, I would jump on a plane and go to every Rock, Hard Rock and Metal festival that I see advertised.

Here’s a 2 day & 2 city Metal Festival that looks rather exciting to me:

Speaking of Rock ‘N Roll legends; The Beach Boys aren’t about to call it a day…

On June 5th, 2012, The Beach Boys released their 29th studio album: That’s Why God Made The Radio, via Capitol. It’s quite a Rockin’ feat that The Beach Boys are celebrating their 50th Anniversary in 2012; reuniting with both a new studio album and tour. I bought this CD this past week for my mother and father in-law… and they were psyched to get it! They’ve both seen The Beach Boys in concert. After all these years, I never have seen them live.

Maybe the image of Charlie Sheen sells to an unknown portion of the public, only I am bored out of my mind by his whole story right about now. Once again, another issue of Rolling Stone that I won’t be buying.

By now you’re aware that I’m calling this Rock Of Ages – Original Motion Picture Soundtrack: Chicken Crap Movie Soundtrack Of 2012. Then again, it might very well be the All-Time Chicken Crap Movie Soundtrack. I  listened to the songs from this CD and I wanted to puke. This soundtrack is an embarrassment to the legendary bands whose songs are featured on it. A 100% shameful embarrassment to the entire Rock Music community.

I’ve never heard Rock You Like A Hurricane by the legendary Scorpions destroyed so badly. After I listened to Julianne Hough and Tom Cruise completely ruin Rock You Like A Hurricane, I realized there is no shame in Hollywood. Tom Cruise singing (I mean trying to sing) Def Leppard’s Pour Some Sugar On Me was extremely painful and ultimately sad for me. Um, someone should remind Tom Cruise: YOU’RE NOT A ROCK STAR! A sub-par karaoke singer is Tom Cruise, yes. Rock Star… NO!

I can care less if Rock Of Ages was on Broadway too. This is about the movie soundtrack in question here. I shudder to think that any musicians from the bands represented on Rock Of Ages had any input to the production of this 20 song mess. To see these revered songs of Rock, Hard Rock and Heavy Metal go to hell like this is unimaginable to me… only it has happened and it’s chicken crap. Stinky, bacteria-infested chicken crap.

I can also sincerely state: Rock Of Ages is the All-Time Worst cover song album ever recorded. Thank God I did not buy this chicken crap Rock Of Ages CD. I highly DO NOT recommend it to anyone; especially those who want to keep the classics of Rock ‘N Metal TRUE.

METAL BE THY NAME.

__________________________________________

That concludes my Metal and Rock ‘N Roll thoughts for Sunday, June 10th, 2012. Sometimes things out there aren’t all that pretty and I’ll call it the way I hear and see it.

KISS KOLLECTIBLES – Wanna See My KISS / Gene Simmons Phone Card From 1996?

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on June 9, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

KISS – Back in 1996, I received this very cool KISS Kollectable PrePaid Phone Card as a Christmas gift. This phone card is the Gene Simmons version. As you can see from the top photo, I never opened the packaging to use it. I did have a cell phone back in ’96, therefore, this card was more valuable to me as a KISS Kollectible than anything else.

This is the only KISS phone card I have from this particular series. If I remember correctly, one of the large book seller chains was selling these KISS phone cards back then. I can’t recall if any record store chain was selling them or not. This phone card set commemorated the 1996 KISS reunion of the original four. Creative Communications is the company that appears to have released these phone cards.

Check out the back of the packaging:

It appears from the photos on this flip-side of the packaging, that there were 10 different KISS phone cards to kollect in all. It would be cool to own the entire set of these KISS phone cards. For now, I’m content to have just this Gene Simmons phone card in my KISS Kollection. Metal be thy name.

Earsplit PR To Host Precious Metal NYC Show June 18th!

That’s right tri-state riot-seekers, the fine folks who have run New York City’s venerable Precious Metal Monday night Metal shows for the past six years finally bit off more than they can chew, and have offered Earsplit PR a full night to curate! The debauchery will take place Monday, June 18th, as always at Precious Metal’s steady home at the Lit Lounge on the Lower East Side, and as always, run by Curran Reynolds (Wetnurse, Today Is The Day). With four Earsplit-related audio terror units taking the stage that night, ears will be scathed from 9pm until midnight, with plenty of depravity to prevail far into the morning hours.

Elizabeth, New Jersey-based trio WINDFAERER — the brainchild of young Earsplit henchmen Michael Goncalves — will raise fists with their epic, violin-infused Iberian Folk Metal, while the metallic, Danzig worship of Connecticut’s NIGHTBITCH (featuring members of Ipsissimus) will bring the ragers out in throngs.

The dual-bassist dementia from NYC-based AmRep-gone-deathstomp quartet THE YEAR IS ONE (fronted by known Guitar World photographer/writer Jimmy Hubbard) will get gnarly alongside our close comrades in Brooklyn’s most enraged Speed Metal/Hardcore bastard brigade, VISE MASSACRE, celebrating their self-released Expendable Humans LP. Between the beatings, the congregation will be serenaded by the beats and charm (and badass hat) of DJ Mike SOS (SEIZURE CRYPT/S.O.S.).

Anybody in the vicinity that night come on out and kiss your Tuesday goodbye.

Metal Odyssey Presents: Ten METAL Albums You NEED For This Summer Of 2012! (Part One)

Posted in Death Metal, Extreme Metal, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, metal albums, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on June 6, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

In my endless Metal pursuit to perform kind Metal deeds, I have compiled a list of Ten Metal albums you need for this Summer of 2012. This list is part one, therefore a part two shall be posted up sometime soon! Please notice the large link below each album chosen for this list; these links will take you directly to my review for that respective album. Enjoy and… Metal be thy name.

 ROYAL THUNDER – CVI

The combination of Mlny Parsonz vocals and the heavy music Royal Thunder plays on CVI is so good that I want to blab about it on billboards across North America. Think: 70’s heavy with a ton of relevance.

ROYAL THUNDER “CVI” – Unreal Is The Word And This Heavy Album MUST Be Heard!

ORANGE GOBLIN – A EULOGY FOR THE DAMNED

Um, the headline on that large link below pretty much says it all. Every time I listen to A Eulogy For The Damned, I keep muttering: holy shit, this album kicks ass! ‘Nuff said.

ORANGE GOBLIN – ‘A Eulogy For The Damned’: This Album Is Mandatory Metal, My Metal Brethren

KING GIANT – DISMAL HOLLOW

Yes Virginia, there is a Metal band that has kicked some Metal sense into me in 2012… and they’re from… Virginia.

KING GIANT “Dismal Hollow” – Stone’s Metal Pick Of The Day!

IRON SAVIOR – THE LANDING

Yes, this new IRON SAVIOR album is such a powerful Metal experience to my senses, that it brought me to tears.

IRON SAVIOR ‘The Landing’ – German Power Metal Force Returns, In A Mammoth Way!

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY – S/T

Corrosion Of Conformity RETURNS! This album from COC is an exclamation point on their legendary career. This is American Metal with 0% additives, flavorings or fillers. Down home Metal is COC. Yes, I really, really, really dig this COC album. I really do.

CORROSION OF CONFORMITY – ‘Corrosion Of Conformity’ – Get Ready Cause This Heady Album Transports The Very Heavy, Very Steady

SIX FEET UNDER – UNDEAD

Chris Barnes = Death Metal Legend. Six Feet Under = Death Metal Legends.

SIX FEET UNDER “UNDEAD” – A Merciless Sonic Experience Of Death Metal

OVERKILL – THE ELECTRIC AGE

Overkill never left the building. Overkill is to Thrash Metal what beer is to kegs. This is THE band that should turn The Big 4 into The Big 5. Metal be thy name.

OVERKILL ‘The Electric Age’ – Once Again, A Reminder Of Thrash Metal Supremacy

BEAK – EYRIE

The debut album from Chicago’s Beak is can’t miss. Beak seamlessly fuses Extreme and Modern Metal, with an exquisite attention to Metal detail that is so unreal it’s scary. Did I mention I dig this album?

BEAK ‘EYRIE’ – An Extreme, Modern and Uncompromising Post-Metal Album Debut

GRAVEYARD – THE ALTAR OF SCULPTED SKULLS

Come on now, did you really think I would have just “one” Death Metal album on this list? Graveyard has made some deadly noise in 2012. I meant it when I wrote: Death Metal That’s Built To Kick Your Ass. Only six songs, still, extremely potent Death Metal to savor.

GRAVEYARD ‘The Altar Of Sculpted Skulls’ – Death Metal That’s Built To Kick Your Ass

PHARAOH – BURY THE LIGHT

RETURN OF THE PHARAOH! Just a damn cool listen into Melodic and Epic Metal. Fabulous songwriting and musicianship. Pharaoh should be mighty proud of this album. I’m proud of this album.

PHARAOH – ‘Bury The Light’ – Weaves Both Melodic and Epic Metal, While Keeping It Heavy

__________________________________________

Thank you for stopping by and checking out this list of Metal albums you NEED for this Summer of 2012! FEAR FACTORY – Announce AOL Listening Party For “The Industrialist”

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, industrial metal, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , on June 5, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

The Industrialist to drop today; band gears up for this Summer’s Shockwave Festival

Today, and throughout the week, AOL Music will stream The Industrialist, the forthcoming new full-length from legendary futuristic Metal sorcerers FEAR FACTORY. Slated for North American release June 5, The Industrialist is the second album written by vocalist Burton C. Bell and guitarist Dino Cazares since reuniting in 2009 after a seven-year split.

Recently commended by Revolver Magazine in a 4/5 review for offering up “the same pulsating, angry urgency of old…nicely counterbalanced by some incredibly deft melodies,” The Industrialist is a conceptual record based around a short story written by Bell. The record again pairs FEAR FACTORY with producer Rhys Fulber and was mixed by Greg Reely (Paradise Lost/Skinny Puppy/Machine Head), with additional tracking by Logan Mader (Gojira/Divine Heresy).

Hear The Industrialist in full at THIS LOCATION.

Currently ravaging stages across Europe, FEAR FACTORY will return for another North American run of dates this summer headlining this year’s inaugural Shockwave Festival! Set to kick off July 6, the tour – which includes VoivodCattle DecapitationMisery IndexRevocationHavokDirge WithinLast Chance To ReasonVildhjarta,The Browning and Forged In Flame – will steamroll its way through over two dozen cities across North America. OZZY OSBOURNE “Speak Of The Devil” – First Official Release Of This 1982 Concert In Stores July 17th!

Posted in classic rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal dvds, heavy metal news, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , on June 5, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

“Speak Of The Devil” was filmed at Irvine Meadows, California in 1982. The show was part of the delayed continuation of the “Diary Of A Madman” tour following the tragic death of Randy Rhoads in March ’82 in a flying accident during the early part of the tour. The show features guitarist Brad Gillis who was brought in to replace Randy Rhoads.

The concert is a perfect snapshot of Ozzy Osbourne’s live performances in the eighties with dramatic staging and masses of energy with a setlist based around his first two solo albums and a few Black Sabbath classics. Ozzy has always been one of Heavy Metal’s great frontmen and despite the difficult circumstances, this show captures him at his absolute best.

Package contains liner notes written by bassist Rudy Sarzo.

Line-up:

Ozzy Osbourne – vocals

Don Airey – keyboards

Tommy Aldridge – drums

Brad Gillis – guitar

Rudy Sarzo – bass

THE ORDER “The Power Of Love” From Forthcoming Album “1986” – Stone’s Metal Pick Of The Day!

Posted in Hard Rock, hard rock albums, Heavy Metal, heavy metal albums, heavy metal news, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on June 4, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

THE ORDER –  1986 is the fourth and new studio album from Switzerland’s old school Hard & Heavy Rock band known as: THE ORDER. 1986 will be released on July 27th, 2012, via Massacre Records. THE ORDER have toured Europe with the legendary likes of W.A.S.P., Primal Fear, Sinner, Y&T and SHAKRA.

Stone Says: I remember 1986 very well (okay, so there are some parts of 1986 that are a little foggy in my brain, um, yeah). What a year 1986 was for Hard Rock and Heavy Metal! THE ORDER couldn’t pick a better year from the legendary 80’s, as the title for their newest album. The 80’s and especially 1986 were… good Rockin’ times in my life! Whoa and hell yes. Ring that Metal bell for ’86 memories!

Take a listen below to their new single The Power Of Love, taken from their 1986 album. This song 100% ROCKS! THE ORDER has nailed it, delivering some high-octane and Hard Rockin’ vibes on this song! If you’re a 1980’s Hard Rock, Heavy Metal and Arena Rock loyalist, I’d practically guarantee that you’re gonna be buying this 1986 album from THE ORDER! Uh, no, this is not The Power Of Love song from Back To The Future. Sorry.

Now go ahead and crank up THE ORDER! Metal be thy name.

THE ORDER:

Gianni Pontillo – Vocals

Bruno Spring – Guitar

Andrej Abplanalp – Bass

Mauro Casciero – Drums

THE ORDER – 1986

Track Listing:

01. The Power Of Love

02. Long Live Rock ’n’ Roll

03. Generation White Line

04. Lonely Nights

05. Fire It Up

KING DIAMOND – False Reports Of New Shows & Tours

Posted in Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, metal music, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , on June 4, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

As reported by Ole Bang, on Coven Worldwide (June 3rd, 2012):

Word has recently been going around; that we are in the planning of new show dates. To avoid any Rip Off, I shall here let you all know that we are not. In particular; we are not in the making of any plans to tour South America.

Any promoter saying differently is lying.

Do not pre-order or buy any ticket for a King Diamond or Mercyful Fate show. Once we have shows booked it will be announced here.

King Diamond is currently in pre-production for the Sweden Rock Festival and Hellfest, and those 2 performances are the only booked shows.

KISS KOLLECTIBLES – Wanna See My KISS Frisbee? Let’s Revisit Some RATT and Other Cool Stuff…

Posted in classic rock, Hard Rock, Heavy Metal, heavy metal news, Music, rock music, rock music news with tags , , , , , , , on June 4, 2012 by Metal Odyssey

KISS KOLLECTIBLES – That’s it at the top! That’s my KISS Frisbee. You bet. I bought it from a souvenir shop at Dorney Park & Wildwater Kingdom a couple of years ago. KISS Kollectibles can be found where you’d least expect ’em. I remember it cost $10 (U.S.) and I was psyched to lay the money down for it. As I just wrote that last sentence, Lay It Down from RATT popped into my head, whoa. Good song too.

Okay, so I don’t use this KISS Frisbee to throw around outside (or inside either). I keep it out in the open leaning against some albums. Weird stuff, I know. What can I do? I’m a KISSAHOLIC and dig KISS Kollectibles. (The KISS Kollectibles I can afford that is).

Alright, since I had to go and mention Lay It Down by RATT, here is the album cover for Invasion Of Your Privacy:

Invasion Of Your Privacy was released back in 1985, on Atlantic Records. I remember buying this RATT release on vinyl, at a department store named Caldor. I remember like it was yesterday, walking with this album under my arm through the store and on my way to the checkout. I remember feeling my face getting all hot and flush from the album cover too; feeling like every customer I passed by was staring at the album cover and then at me. Man, was I a goober.

The hot (Playboy) model on this RATT album cover is Marianne Gravatte. It’s not like I bought this album back then for the cover, still, it didn’t hurt either. The other “hit” single from Invasion Of Your Privacy was You’re In Love. Good song. I liked the MTV videos for both hit songs too. You remember MTV? They used to play music videos! Now MTV stands for: Moron Television.

Here’s some fun & fast facts about the stuff you’ve just read:

01 – Invasion Of Your Privacy has reached Double Platinum status. Whoa.

02 – KISS RULES.

03 – Marianne Gravatte also appeared in the Lay It Down music video.

04 – KISS not being inducted into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame is an F’n joke.

05 – The name “Frisbee” is a generic term attached to any flying plastic disc. However, the gentleman responsible for branding the Frisbee is Richard Knerr ( inventor and co-founder of Wham-O).

Alright, since you’ve stuck around this post (and I greatly appreciate that) here is a Metal bonus for you! Check out my Orange County Choppers Frisbee below! Whoa.

I bought this cool Orange County Choppers Frisbee right at the OCC store/headquarters itself, up in Orange County, New York! A few years back is when I journeyed to OCC. The souvenir shop they have there is gigantic! You can buy just about anything there with the OCC logo on it! By the way, the choppers they have built and on display there are simply breathtaking, let me tell you. Metal be thy name.
