The Neologist – Releases New Songs and Launches Official Website

THE NEOLOGIST – Coming off the release of their debut album, The 26 Letters of Your Universe, Gothenburg styled melodic metal two piece THE NEOLOGIST have been hard at work on new material.

The band is currently working on their next album tentatively titled The Promise of Eternal Separation which is set to be released in the fall of 2011.

THE NEOLOGIST is simultaneously recording the first of several IN FLAMES cover albums which they will be titling In Flames We Trust: Volume 1.  Thus far they have recorded and released “Jotun”, “Jester Script Transfigured”, and “Ordinary Story”.  The band is taking requests from fans via their Facebook, YouTube, and Homepage on which IN FLAMES songs should be covered on the album.  They also released 2 comical music videos for “Jotun” and “Jester Script Transfigured” which can be viewed on their YouTube account.

An official website has been launched for THE NEOLOGIST where fans can get up to date information and free music.  The new website is www.theneologist.net .  Fans can also leave the band messages via their website for which IN FLAMES songs should be covered next.

Most importantly, the band is giving away their music for FREE and encourage people to download their entire album and share the music.  The entire The 26 Letters of Your Universe album along with the 3 released IN FLAMES covers can all be downloaded for free via the bands BandCamp profile.

NERGARD – THE BEGINNING: Here is a press release detailing an exciting Metal Musical, MEMORIAL FOR A WISH, that is being written/composed by ANDREAS NERGÅRD. A three song EP: Nergard – The Beginning will be released on June 14th, 2011, via PUG-NOSE RECORDS. The following information is courtesy of Andreas Nergard and PUG-NOSE RECORDS:

Since May 2010 Norwegian musician and composer ANDREAS NERGÅRD has written material for a Metal Musical entitled MEMORIAL FOR A WISH. “Musicals and concept albums have always fascinated me,“ Andreas says eagerly. “I created this project because I wanted to make an album with the singers and instrumentalists who have inspired me to start playing music. It’s because of them I’ve become a musician and a composer.” And he has an impressive line-up for the musical. THE BEGINNING is an EP containing three tracks off this musical and features performances by the well known vocalists Ralf Scheepers (PRIMAL FEAR, GAMMA RAY), Tony Mills (TNT, SHY) and Mike Vescera (YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, LOUDNESS).

Andreas has worked hard with the musical for a long time. “Since April 2010 I’ve worked an average of 4-5 hours each day with this project, both with the music and promotion of the music,” explains Andreas. “I play all the drums, percussions and keyboards myself, and I’m also handling the bass guitar on a couple of tracks. Also I wanted complete control of the whole process, from the song writing to the mastering. Therefore I’ve spent a huge amount of time in the studio.” The musical was recorded at Trondheim Studio (Trondheim/Norway) with the outstanding producer Conor Patrick.

* The Metal Musical – Memorial For A Wish will be released on two individual albums: ACT 1 and ACT 2, during 2011-2012.

* The story of MEMORIAL FOR A WISH is set to Dublin, Ireland, in 1890:

The young man Peter O’Donnell is arrested and wrongfully accused for a burglary which he did not commit. After a short trial he is sentenced to prison for twenty years. In desperation he is forced to leave his pregnant wife behind and live in solitude behind the prison walls. Twenty long years passes by and Peter is released from jail, only to find out that his beloved wife died many years ago while giving birth to their daughter. The friends he once had turn their backs on him and let him face the grief all alone. This eventually tears him apart. As the hands of sorrow and despair becomes too much to handle he ends up committing suicide.

THORNAFIRE – To Open For SLAYER In Santiago, June 2nd, 2011

On June 2nd, 2011, Chilean Death Metallers THORNAFIRE have the distinct honor of warming up the stage for the almighty SLAYER when the Thrash titans bring their World Painted Blood Tour to South America. Understandably, the band is marking this occasion as a huge moment in their career as guitarist Victor Mac-Namara reflects in the following statement:

“We are very happy as musicians and fans to be part in the scenario of a Slayer concert, and opening for them in our city.The truth is that I don´t have many words to talk about it, I can only say that we will unleash our fury and vibe on stage with our sharp axes and drums to evoke the somber cry of death. In short, we hope to leave the stage like shit, but leave at least the electrical system working for Slayer to finally crush this masochistic audience with their classic tyranny.”

The announcement of this high-profile gig comes as the band is currently working hard on the anticipated follow up to 2009’s Vorex Deconstrucción. In a previously released statement regarding the forthcoming album, Mac-Namara commented, “Currently we are writing music a little different than what we have done in the past. It’s a variation, but still true to our underground Death Metal underground roots. I’m drawing concepts for the album artwork. We hope to have this released  by 2012.”

THORNAFIRE – Deconstrucción:

Deconstrucción was previously described by THORNAFIRE bassist/vocalist Alexis Munoz as a “futuristic song inspired by the religious and social decline experienced in the current era Eon oh Hourus.”

Deconstruccion comes off THORNAFIRE’s second album, Vorex Deconstrucción, which came out in July 2009 via Ibex Moon Records and is currently available at: Ibex Moon Records and  ABYSS RECORDS.

The band’s previous release, Exacerbated Gnostic Manifestation, is also available through Ibex Moon Records.

The video for Deconstrucción (see & hear below) was filmed, produced and edited by Daniel Duarte (a member of the fellow Chilean Death Metal act EXECRATOR) in a professional TV studio in Santiago.

MARDUK: Seven Bowls Of Wrath 2011 Tour To Commence Today!

Today, Swedish Black Metallers MARDUK begin their Seven Bowls Of Wrath 2011  North American Tour! The chaos begins tonight with a headlining slot at the Maryland Deathfest. From there, the band will systematically terrorize Montreal, Toronto, Chicago, Detroit,  Cleveland and Brooklyn with Aura Noir, Black Anvil, Panzerfaust and HOD. In addition, the New York show will include an art exhibition by Oluremi White, whose work includes pieces inspired by the band.

Said the band in a collective statement, “As MARDUK are about to begin the 7 Bowls Of Wrath Tour, we can also announce that at the New York show there will be an exclusive exhibition by New York artist Oluremi White, who will be presenting his paintings related to themes and visions based upon MARDUK songs. MARDUK will be releasing their new EP, Iron Dawn, TODAY at the Maryland Deathfest. The EP will also be available at the six additional North American shows to follow. It should be noted that the tracks included on Iron Dawn EP are conceptually different from what is being crafted for the band’s next full-length.

Twisted Sister – The Pinkburst Project Benefit Concert Is A Huge Success!

As reported today, May 26th, 2011, by Eagle Rock News/Eagle Rock Entertainment:

On April 29, Twisted Sister performed here in New York City as a benefit for The Pinkburst Project, an organization founded by guitarist Jay Jay French to help benefit the Ocular Immunology and Uveitis Foundation.  On May 1, there was an online auction for all the pink guitars and amps that had been collected for this cause from the numerous manufacturers.  Between the auction & the concert, over $110,000 was raised for the Foundation. Congratulations to Jay Jay and the band for a successful weekend for a great cause!

Within Temptation – “Shot In The Dark”: A Melodic and Symphonic Metal Song That’s Truly Memorable

WITHIN TEMPTATION – On March 29th, 2011, the fifth studio album from the Dutch Symphonic Metal band Within Temptation was released, via RoadRunner Records. The Unforgiving is the album and my favorite song from it is Shot In The Dark. Sharon den Adel is an amazingly powerful vocalist, she really summons up a bounty of believable emotion on Shot In The Dark. Within Temptation took Melodic and Symphonic Metal to incredible heights with The Unforgiving. I highly recommend this new album from Within Temptation. I admire and respect the direction that this band has taken on this album and it has become quite the contagious listen for me over the past month. Truly an inspiring album is The Unforgiving.

In the April 2011 issue (Issue 130) of Power Play Rock & Metal Magazine, (vocalist Sharon den Adel stated about the new album’s concept: “It’s a very realistic story, although you don’t see that in the first phase when you see a lot of the supernatural and people being brought back to life to have a second chance. It’s not about bad people but good people making bad choices. There are many layers and characters but it’s about making peace with yourself.”

HEMOPTYSIS – Interview Streaming Online!

MARAZENE MACHINE – Mötley Crüe Members Give A Thumbs Up To “Live Wire” Cover Song

CHICAGO, IL (DLSP) – Chicago’s MARAZENE MACHINE (formerly MARAZENE) have been “swooning” over the recently posted comments by Rock legends TOMMY LEE and NIKKI SIXX about the bands digital single cover of “LIVE WIRE“. Described as an “edgy electronic/whiskey/sex-fueled rendition of the MOTLEY CRUE classic,” “LIVE WIRE” is currently available at iTunes or for free download (with email signup) for a limited time at the following location: MARAZENE MACHINE – REVERBNATION

TOMMY LEE was first to notice the track over the weekend of May 14th. “Fucking wicked version” he tweeted on the social networking juggernaut TWITTER.

“Killer” NIKKI SIXX was quick to concur in a retweet.

Mötley Crüe, currently on tour in South America, have been in the news almost daily keeping fans updated on their current whereabouts and happenings. To say they have a lot on their plate would be an understatement so the comments definitely come during a time when it would have been just as easy to say nothing at all or the track to have been overlooked altogether.

But MARAZENE MACHINE members are humbled to have been mentioned at all.

“It’s a grounded/stuck-in-his-room-for-a-YEAR kids dream come true to hear this kind of acknowledgement from a couple guys I deeply admire..” offered vocalist and multi-instrumentalist DIETRICH THRALL. “I think I’m going to wallpaper my studio with print outs”.

“Always a good feeling to get the ‘nod’ for a cover song from the guys who wrote it!” commented vocalist and multi-instrumentalist NIKK SKUM.

Over the years the independent MARAZENE MACHINE have racked up several major and impressive accomplishments. The band was quick to land three instrumental tracks on THE MATRIX REVOLUTIONS and subsequent THE MATRIX RELOADED box set out of the gate then followed that up with multiple self-managed National tours with the likes of MUSHROOMHEAD, THE HUMAN ABSTRACT, PSYCLON NINE, WEDNESDAY 13, and DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY 100% DIY. MARAZENE MACHINE also took the lead in establishing themselves as “virtual” performers in SECOND LIFE, a social interactive virtual world.  

More recently the band survived the recent passing of original drummer and co-founder Kristopher “Kristov” Kemp to cancer which threatened to end their run outright. MARAZENE MACHINE abruptly went silent only to emerge after a self-imposed mourning period with an archive of 40+ songs which are on deck to be released in the coming months as digital singles and future albums.

With little industry support other than a rabid cult fan base “defying the odds” has become a calling card for one of the hardest working underground bands today.

And with a new album in the works set for Fall 2011 release, industry experts would do well to keep an eye on MARAZENE MACHINE as nabbing a quick spotlight no longer seems to be a fluke – it’s fast becoming a time-honored tradition.

KING GIANT – In Final Recording Stages Of New Album “Dismal Hollow”

Northern Virginia-based Doom-Rock outfit KING GIANT are currently in the final mixing and mastering stages for their upcoming sophomore full-length, Dismal Hollow, currently being slated for release by Autumn 2011.

In March of this year, the five members of  KING GIANT entered legendary Inner Ear Studios (Minor Threat, Fugazi, Avail, Jawbox, etc.) to take their thunderous Doom-bred Southern Rock to the next level on their sophomore full-length; the follow-up to their acclaimed debut album, Southern Darkness. The band have just released a trailer built around the creation of the new album, showcasing some killer footage of what is in store. Check out the newly completed preview of what’s to come right here.

KING GIANT have also recently signed with 313 Artist Management — home of Hour Of 13, Pristina, Cortez, When The Deadbolt Breaks and more — so expect to hear more widespread news and live action from the band in the coming months as more live ventures are booked and the album nears completion.

The band have also raised a Kickstarter project to incorporate fans into the support and creation of their next video, to be filmed later this year. Check out that promo here.

AMON AMARTH – To Return To North America This August 2011!

AMON AMARTH – Following up a hugely successful U.S. headlining tour that found the band touring without support and instead performing two separate sets each night, Melodic Death Metal legends AMON AMARTH will return to North America for the second leg of the “An Evening With AMON AMARTH” tour.

Scheduled to kick off in Vancouver on August 4, the trek will ravage its way through 22 cities, including several Canadian venues, and come to a close in Boise on September 3. The first set will again feature the band performing the recently-released, critically-acclaimed Surtur Rising album in its entirety while the second will offer up mixed bag of tunes from their extensive catalog of Norse-inspired awesomeness.

Commented the band in a collective statement: “Yes, it is true! We are coming back to tour North America. The Spring tour turned out to be so successful, and we had such a great time playing the double sets each night, that we decided to bring ‘An evening With AMON AMARTH’ to the rest of the continent, including Canada! We will perform the new album in its entirety, and after that we’re doing a revised second set with all the classics as well as some ‘wild-cards.’”
